Wow. All I can say is the money I spent on the alternations for my wedding gown here were so worth it. Maria took a dress that I thought was beautiful and made it completely stunning. I didn't even notice small places where the dress could be fitted to my body better and when she was done with it it looked so perfect. Everyone loved the dress and could see how well it was altered. It's been over a month since my wedding and I still have a bad taste in my mouth regarding Maria. With so many great reviews I thought I would feel comfortable and trust her to do a great job. She was unkind from the beginning. She criticized my Maggie Sottero gown from the second I walked in. She couldn't stop talking about how poorly the bead work was done. The beads would fall off while she was pinning me, but I paid Maria extra to fix them. She did not follow through. On my wedding day there were tons of broken strings hanging out from where beads had popped off. I had mentioned them to her in my last fitting and she said would get to it, but never did. She criticized me for losing weight, which most brides do. She grabbed my side and said look now the dress is too big. Instead of being rude she should have fixed it! I can't possibly be the first bride to lose weight. I paid over $800 in alterations and steam cleaning. For that much money the dress should have been perfect and she could have been nicer to me. The bra-cup inserts slid around all day because they were only tacked in at the top; they didn't feel secure. The only positive I can say is that she did a good job with the bustle. I would not recommend going to her. The parking is also very confusing.

She also altered by friend's wedding gown - it was all lace from top to bottom and she was able to down-size it two whole sizes, and when it was done the lace looked like it hadn't been touched at all. She is meticulous and detail oriented. I highly recommend.

Maria was very kind and professional and I had high hopes. She remade the bodice of my wedding dress, took it up, and pressed it. I mentioned my concern that the seeing over the breasts puckered and looked odd NUMEROUS times. She reassured me it would be fixed with pressing. It wasn't. I felt beautiful and happy but was self conscious about it all night. I paid $545 to be ultimately unhappy and self conscious about something I brought to her attention many times. I'm very disappointed that she didn't fix this or care about my concerns. I'm giving 3 stars because she did a nice job taking the dress up.

TL;DR: Maria fixed my wedding gown with only a week’s notice. It fit fantastic and the attention to detail was amazing. If you are looking for a seamstress, look no further. I found Maria after I googled “expert bridal alterations fast”. I had picked up my Stella York wedding dress from my previous seamstress as the alterations were finished back in early August. I was happy with my wedding gown, the previous seamstress hemmed and created the bustle, and took in the waist a bit. The only problem with my dress was the bust. Even after cups were sewn into the bust of the dress, my sad shallow bosom barely fit in the cup and bust. I brought it to her attention, and her response was “if wear chicken cutlets it will fit better”. I was so saddened, my self-esteem about my chest size didn’t take a zing, but because it was very clear to me, the limitations of the seamstress I was using. It also made me second guess my bridal gown choice. Desperate to find another dress that I could possibly return, I decided to try on dresses at BHLDN and I purchased the Rowena gown. After my google search, Anytime Alterations peeked my interest. I called and booked an appointment. I could tell over the phone she was a straight shooter, no frills, kind of person. I liked that. When I met her, she immediately went to work pinning the gown to fit me. The first thing she did was fix the bust of the Rowena gown. I immediately knew and felt, and saw the magic of her skill and craft. She went on to bustle and mark the hemline of the dress. When she was done, I was in shock. I almost cried. A bridal moment that I thought didn’t exist for me. Then when she sat me down, and told me how much it would cost to alter the multiple layers of tulle, the alterations of the lace detailed corset style bust, I couldn’t commit. I did pull out my phone and showed her a picture of my first gown. Immediately Maria blurts out, “the bust of the dress is too big”. I asked if I could bring my Stella York gown. She says “Go get the dress now. We don’t have time, let’s go!” I called my MOH, brought my dress back, and Maria went to work on my dress. She worked her magic, took in the bust and even finished my bridal look with a veil and some jewelry. Maria probably interacts with so many clients, but she made me feel like I was the only one she was taking care of. Maria saved the day! When I went to go pick up my gown which was ready in a week, she gave me a “something blue” and told me to enjoy my whole my wedding day and gave me some words of wisdom. I wanted to write this long review because if you are a bride or bridesmaid and trying to find a tailor, GO TO MARIA. She is expertly skilled, tells it like it is, and completed everything on time. I can’t wait to mail her the pictures of the dress. I wish I had found her first over the first seamstress I used.

I regret taking my wedding dress to Maria because I paid $600 for alterations that I'm not sure were necessary, and she caused me about two weeks of distress. I went to Maria about two months before my wedding date. I bought a sample size dress in Dec. that needed a hem and bustle. It was tight but zipped up. Maria told me it was too small and needed to be taken out. She ended up taking it way out. She didn't warn me that taking it out would remove the belt detailing and cause it loose the definition in my waist. At my second fitting, the waist was about two inches loose. She could fit her whole hand down the back of my dress and the belt did not go back around. She was concerned about the "dress pulling" around my waist. I went back the following week and told her to take it back in. She did, added cups, and a new zipper. She also didn't ask me how much I actually wanted to hem the dress and the first time she placed the bustle, it was too low. I misread her estimate of the cost b/c I didn't realize that taking out the sides and waist were two different charges. She also didn't double check with me about the new zipper or cups, for an extra $80. I looked beautiful on my wedding day, but I should have sought a second opinion. My advice: treat a tailor like a mechanic. If he/she says that you "need" something you had no idea about, seek a second opinion. I had plenty of time and the alterations that I definitely needed (hem and bustle) would have been about $250-300.

I went there to see if my dress can be altered and the lady says no because there were not much fabric ok fine but the thing I didn’t like was her attitude, she was rude and it looks like she didn’t want to do the job. I’m not going back there again not because she couldn’t fix my dress because the way she speak to clients. I went to another alteration place and they’re going to fix my dress

Maria Luz truly saved the day! I brought her my wedding dress, which was in a disastrous state and she worked miracles on it. Her honesty about what truly could and could not be done to the dress was so refreshing. The things she could change and fix, she knocked out the park. I don’t know what I would have done without her as she is truly gifted. She was incredibly reliable, even under tight deadlines during Hurricane Sandy. Her cleaning and preserving of the dress after the wedding was fantastic. If you have a dress that needs to be significantly altered, Maria is your seamstress.

I recently went to Anytime Alterations for altering sleeves in my leather jacket. Maria gave me two options an expensive option that would move the zippers that would slim the cuffs and a cheap option that would not slim the cuffs. I opted for the expensive option based on Maria's note that the expensive option would slim the cuffs. But apparently after 2 weeks of wait she has moved the zipper and shortened the cuff but has not slimmed the cuffs as she suggested earlier. When I asked about this she mentions that she can do it for more money. I wish she had been more transparent about her ability to properly alter my jacket. I will not trust her with leather jackets. I would recommend this business if you want to be overcharged and under-serviced. I am sure the business will come up with some BS explanation. But the bottom line is I strongly recommend potential customers to get a second opinion from other tailors near you before taking your business here.

MARIA SAVED MY LIFE!!!!! I received my bridesmaid dress in the mail only to put it on and it NOT FIT!!! I took my dress to Maria with just nine business days to spare, after another seamstress told me the work required to make the dress fit could not be done! I found Maria and decided to take the dress to her shop after reading reviews about her work. Seven days later my dress is READY! It fits beautifully and you cannot tell it has been altered at all! I found Maria and Anytime Alterations on yelp after I broke my zipper on my bridesmaid dress three days before the wedding. I called her at 705AM (they open at 7AM) in a huge panic. She saw me right away even though appointments are recommended. She explained why the zipper had broken (it was a strapless bone in dress) and that it was not that I had gained 5 lbs since I last tried the dress on a month ago. Her experience is apparent when she speaks to you. She is also going to alter the back where it was bunching slightly. Assured me it will be ready first thing Friday morning, and that I can try it on one more time at pick up to make sure it fits. Excellent customer service and experience. Prices very reasonable. She has a beautiful studio with ample parking in the front. Thankful for her efficient service!

Maria was fantastic to work with! Anytime Alterations was recommended to me by BHLDN to have my wedding dress altered. My wedding dress was tailored in the length and pressed. The body of the dress did not require alteration. My veil needed to be cleaned and Maria separated the "Juliet" cap from the veil -- a great move! I wore the veil for the traditional church ceremony and wore just the cap for the reception. I had to move one of my appointments around and Maria was very flexible. She was very responsive over email. I highly recommend her service! I felt so comfortable and beautiful on my wedding day!

Maria was amazing. I took in my bridal wedding dress because it was too big and too long. As a person, she is great and professional she is a talented seamstress. My dress had a lot of intricate beading at the top and I was really stressed about it. Glad I only came here for a bridesmaid dress and not for my own wedding. The hem is crooked and too short to be fixed, the cups were sewn in backwards, and beads were falling off even when I was carrying the dress to my closet. I’m not surprised though. This is not my first fitting and I was already concerned by the way she was in such a hurry when she pinned it. Very disappointed overall.

I never write reviews, mostly because I have no issues with the service I receive at the places I go. This place is the only exception I have experienced in my 10+ years of reviewing businesses. I took two throw pillows in to have the owner put zippers on for an agreed upon $38. Maria, the owner, mentioned she was in the middle of wedding season, yet she gave me a quote to complete the job in two weeks. I returned today with my receipt in hand thinking my $38 was put to good use with an established alteration business. Maria asked for $76 stating the price of $38 was for one pillow. The receipt clearly stated $38 for the completion of 2 pillows! I told her I drove 20 minutes to her shop and could've had both done 2 minutes from my house for $40. So lesson learned and what gives? The fact that she couldn't accept being wrong and, instead belittled me with "you couldn't have done it yourself" got me infuriated. I told her I would never return and she screamed "I am not a liar!" to which I would agree if she would've followed what she put on paper, a total of $38 for 2 pillows. Ultimately, she was not willing to compromise and accept her mistake which is the first rule of good customer service. In this transaction, she was 100% rude and very arrogant about her abilities. To whomever is thinking of using her services, check your receipts, double check the price, and consider other alteration services in the area at half the price.

I went in to get a couple of buttons put on a winter coat. She did it in under five minutes, was super friendly with this awesome dry sense of humor. I did call ahead, which I think is the way the store operates for the most part. It is tucked away on a little side street but worth finding. I'm definitely going back for all my alterations.

Ms. Maria is a miracle worker! I had a bridesmaid dress emergency that she fixed with perfection and made the impossible possible. My dress was a size too small for me 3 days before the wedding.
