I brought my wedding dress and reception dress to Min's after reading some of the great reviews and getting a personal rec. I had an overall terrible experience.
TLDR: Stained my wedding dress, broke/damaged my dress, horrible customer service.
I asked for what I thought were simple alterations, particularly for a wedding dress, (bring up the hem of my skirt, create a bustle, bring in the chest of my corset, and make a sash), and brought my dresses in 3mo ahead of time. They:
1. Stained my wedding dress--looked like coffee maybe?--and then fought with me when I asked them to get it cleaned. They told me that I brought the dress in like that... I brought it straight from the bridal shop and had tried it on several times without stains since they started working on it.
2. Put a waist to floor run in the sheer silk overlay of my skirt. It did look fine with steaming, but they still damaged my dress.
3. Were not finished with my alterations until 6 days before my wedding.
4. Had me come in multiple times to try on the dress before the alterations we discussed before were finished. They had no respect for the fact that I had to leave work each time I needed to do this.
5. There is a [big] language barrier, however at one point Min gave my dress to her partner to work on. When I came in to try it on, it was not at all what I had asked for/what I had discussed with Min.
--- I asked for a sash/belt. Instead, she took off the top of my skirt and put a hard plastic waistband in that stood up straight (would not have laid flat on a body).
--- Also, Im not sure the waist would have fit my kid sister it was so small.
--- The other lady told me that it was Min's fault and told me multiple times that Min had no idea what she was doing.
--- She also told me that what she did with my dress looked better than what I asked for. Instead of calling me to talk to me about it before hand, she just did what she wanted.
--- This was within 2wk of my wedding and they had to completely deconstruct my whole skirt and start from scratch to fix it.
6. They broke the eye hook on my corset while putting it on me. AND TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE I WAS FAT--mind you I'd lost several pounds since I tried it on at the bridal shop.
7. Fixed the eye hook with two eyes--6 days before my wedding.
8. They argued with me countless times when I told them what I wanted. And not in a, "let me explain and help you understand why this might work better" way. But in a "you're not wearing heels? Why would you do that, it will only make you look short and fat" way.
In my whole wedding experience, this is the only thing that got me really upset--upset enough to cry. Though I ended up with what I originally asked for, it was an awful experience.
