I went to Mrs. Flowers with a $400 Nanette Lepore dress that I wanted taken in. One thing to know about Mrs. Flower is her door is always locked, so you need to knock or wait until she notices you outside her door.
The other reviewer said she was friendly, but I didn't really get that from her. She didn't smile or talk much, just pointed me to the changing room saying "You, get changed" I was also taken aback that she berated me when I requested to leave a little room in the bust by telling me I should have worn a push-up bra, not a "It would be easier if you had one on now, can you come back another time?" but a "You should wear one NOW". I ended up apologizing to her which in hindsight is silly for a paying customer to do.
After that I waited over a week with no phone call, I decided to call and ask if my dress was finished. She told me "I call you many time, you no call back!" in an angry tone and I was taken aback. I thought maybe she DID call and I didn't notice which would be terrible of me so I checked my caller ID for the week carefully. She had never called me once.
I went in to pick up my dress without really looking at it, because I wanted to leave ASAP after that phone call. When I got home I noticed there is dust under the sleeves (imagine if somebody was getting a prom dress or wedding dress altered!) and the area under the bust was saggy and very loose. At this point I should have gone elsewhere but I thought since Mrs. Flower started it, maybe she could fix it? So I go in the second time, asking if it can be taken in a little more to which she accused me of never telling her I wanted under the bust taken in. I DID tell her this before, but why would it matter now? Can't I pay to get it fixed? Not without standing through a lecture apparently. She didn't even pin me up or anything, just says she will fix it rather grudgingly.
A couple days later Mrs. Flower DOES call with her name on the caller ID under the business name, this leads me to believe more than anything she had never called me before like she had insisted.
So I learned my lesson and this time decided it might be best to show Mrs. Flower the dress before leaving so she can decide if it is nice or needs more work. When I asked her if the dress looks ok she tells me "I don't know!!!"which came to me as a shock. A REAL tailor will be able to look at you, communicate what they can or can't do and tell you what is the best fit. Mrs. Flower does not do this.
I was a bit underwhelmed because I was hoping she would take in the area under the bust a little more than she had. When I asked if that is possible she told me "You wear once, you throw away!".
.........Why would anyone ever say that to a customer? How does she think that is acceptable?
If I need alterations done, I'll go somewhere else. Nobody should have to put up with her rudeness.
