We took my daughters homecoming dress here for her Freshman HOCO dance. We took the dress well in advance of the dance (about a month) and were told it would be ready in 2 weeks on a Friday. When we went to pick it up she had taken it in on the back, but that was all. She had her try it back on and she marked it again for the remaining alterations. We were told it would be ready the next day (Saturday). We were unable to go back until Tuesday and when we arrived it had not been touched. She told us to come back at close so we left. I started reading reviews online and they stated she does great work, but it won't be done on time. It also said she doesn't answer the phone. We decided to call at 5:45 to see if it was ready...she didn't answer the phone. We went up to the shop and when we walked in she looked at us and basically started going off on us that she needed more time, she is so stressed out, she needs to stop taking all these dresses, she is just so stressed out, people kept coming in and she can't get any work done, she needs more time. She told us she had the Homecoming Queen's dress and she was very nervous and that we had more time. I told her it was the last day I had before Homecoming to bring my daughter in for the fitting. She just kept yelling at us that she needed more time. I asked if we could just take the dress with us and she said no, it wasn't done yet. We left and drove back to Independence to try on more dresses assuming we would not have her dress back in time. We were getting ready to check out when she called us and said she was ready at 7:15pm. I went ahead and purchased the "backup" dress and drove back to Liberty. We arrived and the door was locked, but she was inside...working on the dress. She let us in and we waiting another 15 mins for her to finish the dress. It still didn't fit well and we just decided to cut our losses. So it was supposed to take 2 weeks and cost $25, but instead we have a not completely altered dress that we got back almost 4 weeks later and it cost $30 and still was not wearable to the dance. I do not suggest J.D. Alterations to anyone that has any type of specific time frame or expectation based on what they are told when they drop their item off. We are hoping we can use the dress maybe next year and will need to add straps to it (as it is strapless) to try to keep it up on her. Horrible customer service and I think the 1st time I have ever been yelled at by someone I was trying to take my business to. Find someone else if you want to keep your sanity.
