I have been going to tailors/seamstresses for almost 40 years... and have never found one as proficient and experienced as JD - he altered over two dozens pairs of pants and eight tops in less than a week so I could take them on a trip - he was happy to do it and did not hesitate with the time frame - as I wore each piece of clothing i noticed he used different techniques (depending on the material/style) to achieve a seamless look - I was amazed, never having seen this kind of talent - i would have paid him twice what he charged, which was also extremely fair, to get this level of work

J.D. is a service Professional!! In this day and age of many service companies forgetting that they are in the service industry, it so refreshing to find a company that puts service first. I don't know if it was just an off week for them or what, but last summer I took my dress coat to be dry cleaned and have new buttons sewn on. I provided the buttons, and was told it would take a week for it to be tailored. I had to pay in cash, which was a huge inconvience to me because i don't carry cash. He's rated great, fine, whatever--I'll just deal with it. I'd rather go a little bit out of my way for a quality tailor. I got there a week later, and I waited FORTY FIVE MINUTES after the tailor lost my coat. The girl at the front tried to give me the wrong person's coat, and when I told her it wasn't mine she went back TWICE to have it looked for. I found out after the owner came in that it was in the back, and they hadn't even cleaned it yet. I had to wait for it to be cleaned after waiting their requested time. The owner had the nerve to mention that it took extra time because of all of my cat's hair. That's fair--there was a lot. I didn't realize it before taking it there or I would have given it a good brush down. BUT I TOLD HIM PRIOR AND ASKED HIM IF THAT WAS OKAY. You have no room to make snide comments if you already said it was okay. Fast forward, it's winter. I get my coat out, AND THEY SEWED THE BUTTONS ONE BUTTON UP TOO HIGH. I spent $60 for such poor service. I didn't go back to him because I was treated so horribly the first time to get my money back. I'm not even sure if he would. Regardless, unprofessional and shoddy work.

This place does amazing work! I have had 3 pairs of pants altered here, a suit jacket, and my wife had a suit jacket fixed. So here is the downside to this awesome shop...drumroll.... They only take cash. Yep I said it...only cash. No cards of any kind. Be prepared for this if you want some great alterations done by some great people.

This man is amazing. I wanted to get a suit altered, and I don't trust many people with my dress clothes; but i read reviews for every place around and this seemed like my best bet. I was so thrilled with the result and the fit that I took every suit and dress shirt I had to him to be tailored (or in the case of the suits, re-tailored). My suits had already been tailored once, and fit pretty well, but after he was done with them they fit perfectly. I not only refuse to go to anyone else if I need anything tailored; I insist my friends and family go there if they need anything tailored. He even tailored my sister's bridesmaid dress in about 3 or 4 days with no extra charge for the rush. the first thing I do with every new pair of pants I get (often before I've even gotten the tags off) is bring them to JD. Sidenote: not only is the quality outstanding; he is the nicest most personable guy you'll ever meet. I didn't have anything new to take to him for almost 6 months, and he remembered me just by my first name over the phone, along with about everything we had ever talked about.

JD is a brilliant tailor! He has great attention to detail and knows how to make the fabric fall just right, even on unusual items like horse show clothes. He altered several saddleseat suits for me about 10 years ago, back when the shop was located on Grand Ave. So it was a no-brainer to go to him with my wedding dress emergency in August 2012. I discovered, less than 48 hrs. before my wedding, that in addition to ordering the wrong version of the dress, Bridal Elegance had completely dropped the ball on alterations they were making to fix their first mistake. JD saved the day - I brought the dress in first thing Friday morning and had it before 11 am on Saturday. JD fixed the dress so that the seams and ruching were symmetric, got rid of a wrinkle that had been making the chest look weird, took it in on top so it was reasonably snug, and removed a yellow-headed pin that the other person had basically sewn into the dress. I felt bad about springing this on him at the last minute, but he was very accommodating, friendly, and professional, and I think the price was quite reasonable. Best guy in town - I'd trust him with anything.

Had a vest altered for my son last fall. Found out from his riding instructor that the vest was not taken in enough and was still too loose. (We had gone there since he is experienced in altering riding vests). He put in a couple of darts in the back and charged us $10. Normally, that would be reasonable but we had already paid $30 last fall and he didn’t properly alter it at that time.

Today's fashion is all about the fit. A mediocre suit can become a designer suit with the right tailoring and customization. A recent trip to Frederick's Tailoring in Clive has convinced me to take all my dress pants, shirts and suits for JD to work his magic. He understood what makes a suit fit like a glove and the results were amazing. His prices are good, comparable to any other shop in town and I have no idea how he works as quickly as he does, but I had my suit back in 1 week (there were several adjustments to be made).

Superb craftsmanship and way faster than expected. I took my department store suit in to Frederick's to be tailored. JD knew exactly what he was doing, it took him no time at all to mark up the coat and trousers. I returned the following day and the suit looked fantastic. It was no simple alteration either. The coat and trousers had been taken in, and the sleeves and pant hem had been adjusted. My suit fits very well now and I was very impressed by JD's work. You owe it to yourself to have clothes that look good on you and Frederick's is the place to go.

I brought my wedding dress in for alterations and loved my experience! Luckily my dress did not need much, but I was nervous about even the small alterations because it was heavily embellished with beads and jewels from bottom to top, and the neckline was illusion/mesh & beaded to boot! JD did a fantastic job - the length turned out perfectly and you couldn't tell that the shoulders had been taken up at all. Visits were so fun; JD has great stories! Highly recommend!
