I recently went to Nicholas Joseph Custom Tailors to get a custom suit for my Hindu / Jewish Fusion wedding. Since we were doing a bit more of a modern wedding, I wanted to wear something that clearly was Indian wedding attire, but not too traditional. I went into Nicholas Joseph with a picture of a Jodhpuri suit and from there Amalia helped me pick out fabrics and color schemes. Overall, I was VERY impressed with what Amalia and the team at Nicholas Joseph put together. Not only was was the quality of the suit apparent through the little details, it looked MUCH better than anything I would have found on Devon Street. I will certainly be going back to Nicholas Joseph for my suit and dress wear needs moving forward. I've been going here for about 5 years now and have to say that this is by far the best fitting experience I've had. I'm a pretty quiet/soft spoken guy and struggle with identifying colors (colorblind), so I’ve always been hesitant to try new things. But this place changed that for me. I worked with Katie Ally at Nicholas Joseph Custom Tailors. I purchased a three piece suit, a sport jacket, two pairs of slacks, five shirts and three ties. This was a big leap of faith as I've never done this before and needed the clothing for a number of big events this spring. NJ has the fabrics and the know-how to produce wonderful garments and they did. Every piece was spot on. The person responsible for achieving the proper fit and finish however, was Katie. Katie helped me with the fabric selection and the style each piece would have. With her discerning eye, Katie made critical changes to each piece to insure that they all fit perfectly and made me look great. With all of this, Katie also managed the time frame in which I needed these garments done and nailed it. While I had concerns about whether all of this could be done within two months, I shouldn't have. Katie handles everything from initial consultation to delivery of the final products. If you've a question, you talk directly to Katie. If there's an issue on their end, Katie contacts you. Katie is personally responsible for your complete satisfaction and I couldn't have been in better hands.

This was my first experience buying a custom made suit and Katie made the entire process seamless from beginning to end. When I graduated college and needed a few new suits for work I came to Chicago specifically to have them made for me. I could not have been more pleased with the way they turned out. The fabric of the suits feels amazingly comfortable and thanks to the custom measurements and design the fit is PERFECT. I've been to a few other places in Chicago and their suits just cannot compare thanks to the full time tailor at Nicholas Joseph who made sure every aspect of the fit was as precise as can be for my body. I had an excellent experience with Nicolas Joseph. After trying off the rack suits for years and spending $150 to have them tailored, I decided to give NJ a try for my first bespoke suit. I worked with Jodi to come up with some really cool details for my black suit, shirts and ties. I have a very difficult body type to fit, so I was a bit nervous as to how the items would fit. The first iteration of the suit and shirts was just about spot on for what I was looking for. The great part is that part of what you pay for includes a guarantee that the suit will be perfect for you. During my first fitting, we made a few adjustments to the jacket, pants and shirts. I even had a difficult time getting in to pick up the suit before a business trip and Jodi had it hand delivered to my building! If you’re in the Chicago area and looking for tailored menswear, I wouldn’t look any further than Nicholas Joseph. I recently came in for the first time having never been fitted for a tailored suit. As such, I didn’t really know what to expect and didn’t even really know what I was looking for. Fortunately for me, I had the pleasure of working with Jodi, who made the whole process stress-free and actually quite enjoyable. She offered great recommendations, and despite the endless combinations available, she helped me find the the perfect look for what I was going for (even though I didn’t know it). On top of that, the actual fitting is top notch. I did my homework. These guys know their product, the team literally just came back from touring the wool mills in Italy, can handmake suits in Chicago, and have a full time tailor at their shop. I couldn't be a bigger fan - even Esquire magazine says they're the go to place for bespoke in Chicago. I think Nicholas Joseph makes the best custom suits and shirt in Chicago, and I've been buying custom clothing for over 20 years in London and New York before I moved to Chicago for work in the finance industry. My admin made me a list of 10 companies in Chicago, and I called them all. Most sounded like I was bothering them - only Nicholas Joseph was friendly, knowledgeable, but I made an appointment with two other companies as well so I could test a custom suit and custom shirt from each. The other two companies, names undisclosed but also named after their owners and in the Loop, were pushy and spent most of the time trying to increase the sale price, and the least amount of time asking me questions and listening to my answers. I am a fit guy and wanted a well tailored suit, but not skin tight like some of the associates at my firm - these other companies tried to convince me the opposite. I also examined their samples and they felt cheap and they couldn't tell me if they were Italian wool or not? The other companies didn't have a tailor there which also made me uncomfortable so I didn't purchase from either, nor would I recommend them. When I arrived at Nicholas Joseph, I was greeted warmly in a nice open showroom with a ton of samples and dozens of fabric books, mostly from Italy and Europe, even Zegna which caught my eye. Katie, my Designer, asked me what occasion the suit and shirt were for and who I would be in front of. She then helped me selected the perfect shade of navy blue and we chatted about the details - two buttons, side slits in back, brown bone buttons, and more narrow, modern, but not too trendy pant legs. She even told me that she and the team just returned from touring the fabric mills in Italy and got certified! About 4 weeks later she called and emailed a link where I could schedule a time to try on the suit and shirt at my convenience, and it was super easy. When I tried on the suit it felt lightweight and fit amazingly well in the shoulders, and through my chest and more narrow down the arms. We did have to adjust it a little to make it more tailored around the waist and adjusted the pant length, both of which were ready in a week. The custom shirt was perfect and one of the best I've ever had. Overall, they've got a new loyal customer because of their service, great attitude, knowledge, Italian fabrics, tailor at the showroom, and professional communication. Thank you Katie!

My experience at NJ has been top shelf. There are other places to go for custom clothing but NJ has the personal feel of a small business and their products are beautiful. The attention to detail is much appreciated. I have worked primarily with Rodney and he is fantastic in terms of helping with all the choices one makes when buying a custom suit. Measuring your body can be tricky if you've never done it before, so having someone with experience do it made a huge difference. Great experience for a first timer going the custom-route For my wedding, I wanted to "class it up" a bit and decided I was going to go the custom route. I made appointments with a few places but ultimately decided to go with Nicholas Joseph. This was my first experience with custom and Katie was very helpful with the entire process. When going custom, you can end up paying a ridiculous amount of money for the highest quality. Katie helped me navigate to a finished product that looked great and was within my budget. They also threw in a shirt to go with the suit! The suit was supposed to take 4-6 weeks to arrive and it only took 3 weeks to get here. After the first fitting, Katie took notes and had alterations done - completed in 1 week. I will definitely go back to Nicholas Joseph for any other custom clothing needs and recommend Katie to anyone who is looking to go custom for the first time. Thanks!
