Wonderful place. Great service and friendly ownership and staff.

For several years, I have come to Kay for my alterations -from simple hems to completely updating/remaking a blazer- she has always done a wonderful job. When it came time for my daughters wedding, I did not hesitate in choosing Carmel Tailoring. For 2 months, Kay worked on my daughters dress and completely redesigned it to include adding cap sleeves, changing the cut of the bodice and adding a custom bow in the back. Additionally, they altered my mother of the bride dress and a bridesmaid dress. All of the work was well done and if there was anything we weren't happy with, Kay listened and took care of it. Through all the craziness of wedding planning, we always felt relaxed during our appointments with Kay and Victoria. My daughter was simply beautiful the day of her wedding and I want to thank Kay for all the hard work she did to ensure our dresses looked lovely!

This place is very over priced! I went in to get padding removed from a dress and needed a hem... eventually when I received the shoes. I ended up not doing the hem due to their ridiculous prices. The first time I was quoted $100 for my dress that had 3 layers and then when I mentioned it was too expensive, then it turned into a conversation of "maybe around" $65. At that time, I decided not to get the hem due to price but to just pay for the removal of the padding. When the receptionist asked the owner how much for removal of padding because "there was no set price for that" the owner responded with, "hmm $10". $10 isn't even a lot, its the fact that this place nickel and dimes you where they can. Absolutely ridiculous. When I went to another tailor in Carmel, I found out they would have removed the padding for free because "its very simple" and not just throw out some random number and they would have hemmed my 3 layer dress for $40. I will never return to Carmel Tailoring. Ill give them 2 stars because they are friendly.

I moved downtown last year and since then have struggled to find a tailor that can accommodate my alterations needs. Being a man of modest stature, I need all of my dress shirts and dress pants altered to fit my arm length and inseam length. Prior to moving downtown, I lived in Carmel for a few years and always took my clothes to Kay because she is thorough, fair priced, and expeditious. Needless to say when I found a suit that needed alterations I drove out of my way 40 minutes to see Kay because she is the best! I also brought along 6 dress shirts that a downtown tailor said they couldn't alter and Carmel Tailoring whipped them into shape for me. I absolutely recommend you go see Kay and her team, they are lovely, and they get the job done right!

First off let me say the customer service is always very good. Very friendly staff and the work they do is very good. That being said, the last 3 times I have came here I have been told multiple prices with the end price always being higher than promised. $14 over the phone turns to $28 when I'm checking out, the prices the assistant quotes is magically $5-$10 more once I go to pay for it etc, etc, etc. I even had a friend get some work done on her wedding dress and it went from "a few hundred most" to "that'll be $480 please." I don't want to think it's something shady but simply they are not all on the same page with pricing. Either way I can't go here anymore because of this. It's simply happened too many times now to be coincidence. Again, very nice people though that do very good work just MAKE SURE you get a set quote before you leave and verify that it doesn't magically increase at check out.

Great service and they did a great job on my bridesmaid dress!

The tailoring and clothing materials sold are the highest quality. The service is top notch! I have purchased numerous suits and sport coats from Carmel Tailoring. I always receive compliments on the quality of the material and the fit. I highly recommend Carmel Tailoring to those persons that prefer higher quality and custom clothing!

The work this place does is good but the owner decides the price on the spot. I had a dress hemmed and the straps taken up with a 2 week turnaround time. They did not give me a quote when I dropped it off, which I didn't realize until after the fact. When I picked up the dress they asked what I was originally quoted. When I said i didn't have an original quote, they went to the back to get the owner so she could "decide" on pricing. She decided on $90! That's the price other places would have charged me for an expedited turnaround! The work was very well done but the pricing was sketchy and steep. I would not recommend going here.

I have always been scrupulous when it comes to finding a tailor. I am 6'4", with an athletic build; broad shoulders and narrow waist. It's nearly impossible for me to buy clothes that fit, straight off the rack. Thus, having a tailor that understands my build and really pays attention to my needs is most important to me. I've been through a handful of tailors so I know what to look for and the components the make for a great client/tailor relationship. After relocating to the area, I needed to find a tailor so I thought I would give C.T. a shot, so I dropped off a few suits to test them out. First impression: I was very impressed with how thorough Kay was with her measurements. Most tailors have a few basic site-specific measurements they take, but Kay's assessment was much more thorough. She measured everything at least twice. I didn't tell her, but my body is slightly asymmetrical. I knew if she discovered this, she was worth keeping around -as the difference is only that of 3/4 inches! Sure enough she found the discrepancy and asked me to confirm! When the suits came back they fit perfectly! I was so impressed that I went ahead and built out a custom suit with her, as well as a few shirts. I was set to attend the most important meeting of my life and needed to make the best first impression possible. The selection of materials, designs, and fabrics was overwhelmingly plentiful, with many fine options to choose from. She walked me through the process, took measurements again, and even provided personal insight into fabric types and what would look best for my build. At this point, she had won my trust so I accepted her advice. I was not disappointed! With only three weeks until the big meeting I was concerned weather or not the suit and shirts would be complete in time. She went out of her way to make sure everything was complete and QC'd in two weeks, just in time for the meeting. Everything fit and looked great, and I was very pleased with her recommendations and how everything turned out. I have $5,000+ suits with fine Italian fabrics that don't even touch the quality of this suit for a fraction of the cost. I'm certainly customer for life now, and would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a good tailor. If you want a cheap cookie-cutter tailor then go to Men's Warehouse, Jose.A Bank, or Brooks Brothers. If you are looking for a tailor that cares about her work and someone with whom you can build a long-term relationship, then get on her calendar while she still has room! You will NOT be disappointed! Outstanding quality, outstanding personalized service, and outstanding value. Thanks Kay! PS: Still loving the custom suit :)

My suit is perfect. It was made specifically for my body, and it is comfortable and handsome. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Their work is worth every penny.

I brought my husband's slacks and my dress for a wedding in for hemming and taking in, respectively. They did a great job on both. The dress has a lot of detail on the back that did not lay right until after the alterations. Very happy with the work and feel that prices are fair. Will definitely be bringing in more items in future.

Sandy Ehrlich

I had a suit made, I am not a perfect anything but feel perfect when I wear this suite... Besides the professional work Kay the Owner has with your vision as a tailor, she also has complete control and understanding of how to develop the perfect fit for the perfect price. In addition to making from scratch a drop dead three piece suit, she has altered several items for me. Her work is always what I wanted, with consistent accuracy and always delivered on time! Who wouldn't want to pay for a job well done, done right, on time and served with a smile because that is how you treat people. What a lost way of running a business and a lost art in the arena of sales, deliver of products, professionalism. Thanks Carmel Tailoring for being there and I look forward to this years banquet just so you can make me feel like a beautiful women even though I'm not the perfect shape... SLB

I have had a very poor experience with this business; I recommend you avoid them for your services, ESPECIALLY bridal. My first visit for my wedding dress fittings was alright; nothing particularly stellar in terms of service, but I didn't get a bad feeling about the place. I then tried to go back for my next scheduled fitting, a month later. They had lost my appointment and were unable to see me. Doesn't really make a bride feel special, does it? I schedule an appointment for later in the week and in her apology for losing my appointment, Kay lets slip that they had also not done any work on my dress in the time I had left it there. Perfect. Kay, who I assume is the proprietor, is not someone I want to be around for any length of time. She repeatedly called me "baby," "honey," and "sweetie," EVEN AFTER I ASKED HER TO STOP. She never listens ("When would you like your next appointment?" "In the morning." "Great, does 5pm work?"). She asks the same questions over the course of a conversation that she really ought to know ("When is your wedding?" was asked of me three times in one visit) or is none of her business ("do you live far?" was asked of me often as I stressed I did not want extra fittings/visits). I would reach out for my wedding dress and she would push past me and place it in the fitting room. I would be getting dressed and she would OPEN THE CURTAIN. Any concerns I bring up (like the bust not fitting right) are waved away and either she says "it will naturally get fixed as we're doing this other thing" or "nah, it's fine." At my latest and last to final pickup fitting, I again stressed I did not like the bust, and it's only then that she offers a tailoring solution - I am way too wary at this point (and too close to my wedding date!) to trust her advice. The bustle is ugly and not what she showed me it would look like. Final meeting/pickup: the dress is average to below average. Black threads are up in the tulle that I'm instructed that I'll simply have to "pick out" before putting on the dress. I am charged FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY DOLLARS for the most basic of work that shows no master craftsmanship. They will never get my business again - avoid at all costs! Final Edit: My wedding has happened, so I thought I'd give an update. The beading work on the left arm frayed and caught on the bodice all night. I could hardly raise my arms above my head while dancing. The bustle came unbustled several times during the night. Very poor work done. Do not use them.

My daughter and I came in without an appointment to see if anything could be done with a wedding dress that was purchased in Ohio. We were disappointed at another alterations location when we were told that it could not be altered in a way that my daughter envisioned for the dress. Kay was sp pleasant and she said that it would be no problem. She told us to come back in an hour and the dress would be fixed. When we returned and my daughter tried it on she was brought to tears and the dress was just as she envisioned.. So very happy it all worked out!! Would definitely recommend to others.

Kay was awesome and did a great job. In fact, she fixed botched up work from another tailor in Carmel that I will never return to again. Highly recommend and great price/value too.

My experience with Kay is nothing other then wonderful! I first met Kay over 4 years ago when my sister found her wedding dress in Ohio and we were referred to Kay back here in Indy. Not only did she do the amazing alternations for my sisters dress but she also worked on my mom's dress as well as mine for the wedding. I am in a wedding this August and needed quite a bit of alterations for that dress and I could not think of anyone else but Kay! She always makes you feel comfortable and the alterations always come out beautiful. Thank you Kay!

If you haven't visited this location for tailoring or your man's suits, you must go! Kay is a real gem and with her years of expertise you will walk away with confidence you're looking your absolute best! Her associates match her level of professionalism and poise, Victoria will take great care of you!

These ladies know what they're doing! I recently purchased a Burberry coat, which needed the sleeves shorted and the buckled sleeve straps relocated. They did a fantastic job and you can't even tell that the coat was altered. The lines were flawless. They also offer fully-customized bespoke suit services. I will be going back to purchase a few soon. Thanks, Carmel Tailoring!

Jeremiah Shrack

As a fastidious person when it comes to my suits and overall tailoring, I have found a diamond in the rough with Carmel Tailoring. Kay and her staff are exceptional and reliable in their recommendations and work! Her pricing is very competitive and the drive from the east side of Fishers is worth it. If I had to send a boss or coworker for a new suit or a sister for a wedding gown alteration, I would recommend her immediately.

I brought in a dress almost a month in advance to be taken in. Told them I had an event to go to and was still only given less than 24 hrs before the event to pick up the dress. It didn't fit correctly and there was no time to fix it. I was left without a dress for my event. It also cost more than I was told initially. I will not be back and now have to find another tailor to fix the dress.

Bryan Hines

Unbelievably good work! I was skeptical about having 3 pairs of expensive jeans tailored to fit me. I lost quite a bit of weight so they didn’t fit me at all anymore. They brought in the legs, resized the waste and hemmed the legs. They now fit better than when I bought them off the rack. It’s like having tailor fit jeans. The best part is, you can’t see where they sewed at all and the hems look off the rack. I highly recommend their service. On another note, my favorite shirt was purchased there too.

The staff custom measured my dress pants and produced a quality finished product. A great resource for patrons of the City Center and residents of Carmel, IN
