Sylvia altered my daughter's yellow satin prom dress a couple of years ago. My daughter is very petite and we were quite nervous about having so much length taken off and what the hem would look like since it was such a light color and delicate fabric. I expected it to take a while to pick it up, but she had it done the next day at a very reasonable price and it was perfect- I would have never known she had touched it! I tell everyone I talk to about someone who can alter clothes about Sylvia!

I had to update this from a previously five star rating. I was shocked to pay double what I estimated for a dress to be altered. I might as well have gotten a different dress for the cost of the alteration. I was not told what the price would be when I dropped the dress off. Communication was not clear and I’m very angry at how much I spent. If I knew how much it would cost, I would have gone to a different tailor.

I brought in a bridesmaids dress. I tried on the dress, the lady measured it. When I picked it up and tried it on, I could not even zip it because she took out way too much fabric. She said she would fix it. I went back and it was way too big. They do an aweful job! I should have known not to have my dress done there because of how little they care about their location. It was filthy in there! They have two little dogs in there and there is junk everywhere! When I went into the dressing room, there was dog poop and there are stains all over the carpet. If they can’t even take care of their own facility, why would they care about others garmets. Lesson learned. I willl never go back nor will I ever recommend Alterations by Sylvia. They are also way over priced and the hemming in the dress was uneven as well. I have no idea how they are still open. Huge waste of time and money.

Sylvia is a very talented seamstress. I was amazed at how she was able to alter some uniform pieces I had. The prices are fair and if I really need a rush order she has always come through. Highly recommended!

Had a nightmare today when I went to collect 2 Michael Kors suit pants and 1 Michael Kors jeans. I gave the pants for reducing length by about an inch. When I gave the pants, I confirmed if after alterations stitching will not show up on the outside. But to my horror, the lady messed it up and stitching was showing on the outside on the dress pants and she pretended not to understand what we are talking about. For Jeans, she was supposed to reduce the length by 1 inch and then reattach the bottom portion so that it will still look like jeans but again to my horror, she cut the bottom and just folded. When I asked her where is the nice bottom that she was supposed to reattach, she pulled the pieces from trash and gave them to us. Her husband also came to support her and in short they messed up my two $175 MK dress pants and $100 MK jeans and pretended not to understand what we were saying. These people cheated me big time and were ready to fight with me after committing such big mistakes. Please be aware of this before giving your lovely clothes for alterations to these folks.

Waste of time and money. Said it would take a week and turned into 2 weeks then 3 then a month. Finally after two fittings and not getting what I asked for said sorry that's all I can do. Had no material to expand the outfit.
