She tailored my son's jacket and pants. People who complain about the costs of her services apparently do not often have alterations done. I found her prices to be perfectly reasonable and her work to be great.

I had a horrible experience with the new owner of this business and I absolutely do not want it to happen to anyone else. Unfortunately, the owner and professional tailor of this business is now ill and her son is taking over the business. Her son Eric told me this and I should have known to go elsewhere at this point, but he assured me that he knew how do a simple alteration to my bridesmaids dress. He started to make me feel more nervious and creeped out when he pinned bra cup liners incorrectly and said “as long as it’s in the general area it should be fine.” I followed my gut feeling and left the establishment and did not allow him to hem my dress to the appropriate length. Unfortunately, it was too late for my dress because he measured it to be hemmed way too short and used a tailor wax chalk on my dress that does not come out. I had to take it to three different tailors because he didn’t make the lines even and it would have been to short with my 2 inch heels that he measured me in. I called him and he told me it would come out with water, which did not work. The other tailor I took it to said he should have never used wax on a dress, and these lines would not come out. Eric told me to go to a dry cleaner. I took it to three different places and no one could get the lines out. They all said the same thing, these are permanent lines in the dress. The wax even smeared up the dress leaving a stain. I had to buy pricey new flat shoes so a different tailor could cut the extremely too short wax markings out. The owner originally said he would pay my dry cleaning fee, but later changed his mind and left me a super rude voicemail. It’s unfortunate that this guy is ruining his mother’s business and reputation, like he ruined my dress. Please just go somewhere else! Pictured below is my dress after trying what Eric recommended to clean the lines and after it was professionally cleaned.

Horrible!!! I paid $500 for a bustle on my wedding dress and it fell out after 15 min of being up at my wedding. When I called and talked to debbie she accused me of scamming her even though I offered to show her the video where it came out and I carried my train around all night! Do not waste your $ here!

Alterations Express did an excellent job replacing my zipper with a fleece zipper for my fleece jacket, which looks better than the original and is easy to use. Also great customer service.

Wow, this woman can alter, make and do anything from wedding gowns, prom drrsses to scrubs. She is amazing. She explains what she is doing and why. And, BRING the shoes you will be wearing with whatever is brought in.

Bought 2 skirts and a jacket at a really good discount from Banana Republic. It cost me more to have it adjusted than the price I paid for them. It is ridiculous! $82 for hemming 2 skirts and sleeves of the jacket. There was no special hemming for the sleeves either! will never go back.

This place ruined a very expensive shirt of mine that couldnt be replaced/ its no longer manufactured. I thought that going to a place which specializes in alterations would be the way to go, but I should have checked the negative reviews building up for this location because, boy have they gone downhill since I last came here 2 years ago! Anyway, my request should have been simple– my shirt was about a half-size too big for me and I wanted them to alter it so it fit properly. It was Debbie who did the measurements, and when the shirt was finally ready (a week after it was originally promised) they had altered it by bringing it in way too much across the back. Although Debbie took the measurements, she somehow rationalized that it was my fault for letting her take it in at the armpits! Now to be clear– I had no say where they took in anything or what they did beside my simple request to make the shirt fit properly... so the alterations that were performed and where they performed it were left entirely up to the so called professionals. The armpits were never even discussed when she was doing her rush-job fitting it to me. A few side-issues to include here as well: They have dogs running around all over the place ( I counted 3), and they were jumping up on me without Debbie even attempting to control them, I was only allowed to pay in cash/ and required to pay before the job was even performed, and I had to make a special trip across town to a fabric store to purchase 2 buttons that I wanted sewn onto the collar (dont alterations places usually have buttons?). So after it was evident they took it in way too much they at first claimed it was a very easy fix. I came back again the next week when she said it would be ready and they had performed some ridiculous adjustment on it where the seam was ripped open and literally connected by a knotted piece of thread/ free hanging like a rope! I could have done a better job on this shirt myself! When I told her it was a botched job and showed her why it wasn't going to work, proving that it no longer fits me at all because of what they did, she made me ask for my money back on the entire job. She was good at apologizing profusely but could have made the whole thing a bit easier by offering to give me my money back... but whatever. I probably should have also requested what I originally paid for the shirt 3 years ago as well, but I decided not to do that. She was supposed to mail the refund to me via check but apparently even that was too much of a challenge for Debbie. After it was overdue by a week I called and she said someone threw away the piece of paper that had my address on it! 2 things I have to say about that: (1) Way to go NOT keeping my information private and secure, and (2) She could have just called me to get the address again/ and I KNOW I was in their system because I sat there and updated it with her. In her defense she did inform me that she's not very good at writing checks but if it was going to be a problem she shouldn't have agreed to that course of action (or could have asked someone for help). I think she had no intention of sending me a check but that is pure speculation. While on the topic of the refund, why did she refund my money anyway, if the alteration she did was "my fault"? After she offered to write a reminder to send me the check on her calendar, and get my address again, I reluctantly decided to go there AGAIN for the (total) 6th time during the course of this unfortunate experience with Alterations Express to get my money back in cash. Apparently Debbie has as many challenges with "complicated check writing" as she does with performing alterations.

In a matter of two weeks, they took my dress in from a size 24 to about a size 18, refinished the beading, and added a bustle needed for my dress. The pricing was amazing for all the amazing work put into my dress. My bustle had to be a little more intricate due to the tails on the train and the way it would lay.

I ordered a pair of jeans from zulily and they arrived not hemmed. Debbie did a great job. Brought them in in my lunch break and picked them up after work, no appointment.
