Mahla is beyond Five Star Fabulous! Couldn't be happier that we found her for my Wedding Gown alterations, as well as the Mother of the Bride Dress and Bridesmaid dresses. I actually had two dresses, one simple dress for our outdoors vows ceremony, and I wore an intricate lace overlay beaded full gown for our reception. Mahla did a flawless job on hemming my dress, which entailed removing the bottom lace and moving it up, as well as making the cups fit just right against my body. I cannot say enough amazing things about Mahla and the work that she has done for me. I have gone to Mahla since 2013, and the only reason I am saying goodbye is because I am moving to a new state this summer. For any person looking for a tailor, AK Tailors is the BEST in town!!!! I rarely write reviews, but I have had such an incredible experience with her. I would recommend her to family, friends, and anyone looking to get an amazing alteration done. She even went out of her way to open the store early for me on the day of my prom because my mom accidentally burnt a hole in my dress with the iron. Mahla fixed the dress and it looked brand new -- that woman was my savior on my prom day!!!!! Over the years Mahla has worked on multiple formal and prom dresses (seen below) and many of my business dresses. For my formal and prom dresses, the dresses were simply too big everywhere (too long, too big of a bust and waist, ect). Immediately upon putting on the dress, Mahla knew EXACTLY what needed to be done to make the dress fit better and look more flattering. You could tell through this that she was an expert in what she did. For both of my prom dresses (pictured below), the cup sizes and and bust were WAY too large. I didn't think she was going to be able to do anything about it because on my pink dress, the corset was made out of sheer mesh. Some how she worked her magic, and my dresses looked amazing. She has worked on so many of my dresses over the years, and I truly think she is the best in town. Mahla was one of my hardest goodbyes in Tucson because I don't think I'll be able to find a seamstress like her ever again!

I have been going to Mahla for alterations for over three years now and she is awesome! You will not find anyone friendlier than she is and more important, the quality of her work is always the same: excellent. I found her by accident after a bad experience with another alteration place (one of those "while you wait" deals!). In 2010 for my boyfriend' daughter's wedding we needed a hot pink shirt for the three year old ring bearer to match the father of bride's. Mahla totally made the shirt out of a man size shirt (we had bought two) and it was amazing. I could talk for hours about her work, her ethics and the fact that in my opinion she is one of the few tailors, in the true sense of the word, who still use the art of sewing clothes! And..if she thinks that the alteration you want is not worth the price, she will let you know. This lady truly loves what she does! I have recommended Mahla to anyone I know and will continue to do so.

AK Tailosr is the very best tailoring service in Tucson. A few months ago, my wife and I got married. The whole family used Mahla's services leading up to the big day. My suit fit me to a tee, and my wife's dress turned out perfectly. Everyone in my family has since used her for all their other tailoring jobs. She can work magic with any type of alterations needed and she is incredibly flexible. She is friendly and takes pride in her work. Also, her prices are reasonable. Mahla is great! I decided to go to her for a difficult fix, after reading reviews I thought she could handle it. For my birthday I had bought a pair of UNIF black denim harness shorts online (size 26) but when they arrived despite being labeled 26 the waist was 28 inches and falling off of me. To be honest it looked like a diaper :( Not only did I need the waistline fixed, the crotch needed to be taken in too. It took a while to get the shorts back only because she had vacation and then I did, and it was something she let me know from the start, and I was in no rush. When I went to pick them up she had me try them on and they fit like they were sewn just for me from the start. She also fixed the placement of one of the harness straps while I was in there with her which was really nice, and she told me she really enjoyed working on something so different and out of her norm. Overall great experience, now I can actually wear my expensive shorts, she's a super nice and funny lady. And last week I brought in a couple dresses and they turned out great! No more wasted clothes!

Had a small repair on a nice pair of slacks that I asked her to do, when I came to pick up she said she had forgotten to call me, that it would be a few more days. A few days later my wife came to pick up, and she did not have ready. She disappeared in the back, and several minutes she came back out with the slacks. The stitching was very rough, the pants had two odd creases where the fabric was folded over to cover the damaged area, and the slacks are now noticeably tighter in the seat because of the rush job. Very disappointed.

Don't trust the decent rating. You won't get a phone call when the job is done. You WILL get wavy, crooked seams, bunched fabric and excuses. I left my clothes here to be redone twice. The third time, I gave up. I was told by the owner that they couldn't make the stitches straight. Now I'm out $36 for the service AND the money I spent on the clothes, which I cannot wear or return now. Save your money. Save your time. Don't cause yourself stress. Avoid this place, if quality matters to you.

She did a beautiful job on my bridesmaid dress! I had three layers to have hemmed, all of which were chiffon which is quite finicky to stitch. It was a barefoot wedding and she made sure to make the outermost layer a bit longer to sit just over my feet, without me even having to request it. The dress was a little big, and rather than taking it in at the zipper or waist, she suggested darts in the back of my dress. It ended up fitting perfectly without compromising the look of the dress. She's definitely a no-nonsense lady, which could be interpreted as a tad rude by some, but she does know best and does a wonderful job!

I work for a police department in the Tucson area and this woman Mahla was a godsend! I had ordered a new uniform polo t-shirt from a local distributer and when it was delivered to me, I noticed it was 3 sizes bigger then I had ordered! I needed the shirt for an event in 1 day, thank god I found Mahla at AK tailors. I walked in and was immediately greeted with the warmest welcome. I showed her the problems, she stuck a few pins here and there and that was it. I told her I needed it done by the next day. She said of course by 5pm! Later that same day she calls me and tells me its already done!! I told her she would have my business forever, in fact I just ripped a hole in my slacks and I'll be seeing her again very soon!

Mahla finished my wedding dress in 2 weeks so that it was done in time for my wedding. I was late on getting it in for alterations. In addition to a bustle, it needed to be let out on the sides. Since it had lace appliques all over it, she had to take them all out very carefully and hand stitch them all. Her prices are affordable and her customer service is top notch. A few years later I had an emergency situation with a dress for my daughter. And when I say emergency it was, we were literally on our way to the event, my daughter was in the dress and we had only 20 minutes to spare. I walked into AK and in desperation explained to Mahla our immediate need for her help to fix the dress. And without any hesitation she said yes of course I will help you. She starting pinning, measuring and working her magic. Took the dress to the back and worked miracles for us. She did all this in the 20 minutes we had and we were back on our way to the event and my daughter and I were so happy. Mahla really saved the day!! Mahla is simply a goddess. I had a bridesmaids dress nightmare situation--the company I had to order it from insisted that I was a size 12 from my measurements, even though I've been a 4 or 6 my entire adult life. Needless to say, when it arrived it was insanely large (there's a pin holding up the skirt in the 'before' picture). Not only did I hate the dress; I also couldn't imagine even the best seamstress in the world would be able to fix the structure of the completely SEQUIN top with an OPEN back. Mahla blew me away. She took my measurements once, gave me in an incredibly reasonable estimate, and told me to come back in two weeks (earlier than I even needed the dress. On the pickup day we scheduled, she called me promptly, I came in a couple hours later, and tried it on. It fit LIKE A CHARM! She even took a few extra minutes to secure under the lining at the bottom of the crazy sequin top when it showed a sign of flipping out a bit when I tried it on. What can I say--I still couldn't stand the dress itself, but it actually fit on my body and I wasn't embarrassed to wear it anymore! Mahla is just a delight to work with and she keeps her word so well. She also has high standards, which allowed me to rest at ease with the dress in her hands. Thank you Mahla, I will be back with future business!!

This was the most friendly lady i have met in a long time. I went to her to see if she could help me make a sash for my girlfriends 21 bday, im horrible at this stuff by the way i didnt even show up with the fabric or anything to make it haha..she cared so much about helping me told me, where to go what fabric to get and everything else I needed to know and by the end of it we got along so well she ended up doing it for free for me because she thought it was sweet that I was doing that for my girlfriend. 10/5 stars, really! I have now brought two pairs of jeans here for alternations. She has tailored them to me, and the fit is fantastic. This second pair required a tremendous amount of work, and the results speak for themselves. I could not be happier and intend on bringing more of my jeans here. If your pants are loose and baggy, don't go and buy a new pair, bring them here and get them tailored to you! The prices is extremely reasonable, and she prefers cash. My kind of business! Cannot recommend enough!

Mahla is the most amazing tailor EVER!!!! Reading other reviews I was sad to see that some left some not sparkling reviews over her lead times and pricing. Patience is a virtue and you get what you pay for! She has always provided me with the most amazing service and my clothing is georgeous after leaving her shop. She has handmade me Halloween costumes from just a picture, completely altered bridesmaids dresses and loads of tailored pants. All of this done while making me feel like family and there is always hugs when you leave! I would never consider taking my clothes elsewhere.

I am so wonderfully pleased with Mahlas work! I am a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend and when my dress was shipped to me a week before the wedding it did not fit correctly and keep in mind I'm a fuller figured woman so naturally I was freaking out. I took it to AK Tailors and she accepted the challenge of helping me on such short notice. I leave out of town tomorrow for the wedding and I picked up my dress today and the dress fits perfectly! I was so relieved it made me cry. My experience with her was AMAZING and I will be returning to have her fix some of my hubbys clothes as well. Highly recommend her you wont regret it.

I took my wedding dress to Mahla after the store I bought it from (who was suppose to do the alterations) unexpectedly shut down. I was nervous to leave my dress with a business I wasn't familiar with. I'm so glad that I went with AK Tailor! I had to have the dress let out, as I bought it a little small in the hips. Mahla did an amazing job! I liked that she didn't do everything all at once and just have me pick up the dress. She told me to come in for fittings: first she let out the hips, come in for a fitting, and then she did the bustle and made sure that I didn't need anymore alterations after she let out the fabric. Mahla is very sweet, I very much enjoyed going to my appointments. I will definitely bring any other garments that I need tailored to her!

I wasn't sure where I could get the service I wanted and AK was definitely the place to go. The shop was closed on Monday when I showed up and she happened to be there and take my jacket in. The work was exactly what I wanted and for a reasonable price ($35). You don't need to look anywhere else for a tailor!

I loved going to Mahla for my wedding dress alterations. Our wedding planner Meagan first suggested her to us. She's fun, welcoming, and is a master of her trade (amongst other things I imagine, she was a lawyer before opening up her own tailoring business!) She was so detailed with my dress and listened to everything I wanted done or changed on it. I just got two more dresses that need hemming and I'm definitely bringing them to Mahla so I can 1. have it done right, and 2. give her a big hug.

The lady here was awesome she fixed my mom's dress in a hour and a little more but we don't want to give away too much of the secret that she did for us. The dress looks better than it did before. We highly recommend her to anybody that needs a quick fix.

Be careful! I did not a have good experience here at all. I got my dress fitted at the end of March, and was going to pick it up in April. My gig got canceling, and I completely forgot to pick up my dress. She called me twice about the dress to remind me to pick it up, which was kind of her to do, but I kept forgetting to pick it up. I finally got around to picking up my dress 8 months later (which I get is my own fault), but the experience I had when I finally went to pick it up was awful. I began by apologizing really very kindly about not picking up my dress. Well, she laid into me in front of her other customers. She was borderline yelling at me saying, "I called you 2 times! People think I have the room in my store, but I do not!" She then started complaining to her customer lady whom she was waiting on at that moment and right in front of me complaining openly and frustratedly about how upset she is when people leave stuff and don't pick it up. She kept going on and on about it in front of the other customers. She took my receipt that I brought and told her lady customer, "She dropped it off here in Jan, and it has been a whole year." She was exaggerating how long it's been. I was so mad at that point, and I didn't even try on the dress. I switched to my blunt mode and said I would just like to pay and leave. It was awful, but no matter how long I left it there, that was no way to treat a paying customer. It was so unprofessional, and embarrassing, and I will never go back to her again. If you want to keep your customers, I suggest start by treating them with respect.

Absolutely beautiful job! Attention to detail is superb, after a major alteration my dress was still not perfect, I didn't have to say a thing she made one more small adjustment and now my dress fits perfectly. No small feat as it was at least 4 sizes too big, with a fully lined and boned bodice. Price was a great deal for the amount of work that had to be done. I can't really expand upon what other people have said about Mahla so I will just echo them - she is wonderful! The dress only needed to be hemmed but this lace topper was a separate piece and way too big (got it on sale!). We did it in 2 fittings and she hand-stitched the shoulders and back part to get it *just* right and as you can see, it came out beautifully! Plus, she is a delightful person! I found her shop via these Google reviews and now I am happy to add mine to her already huge collection!

Super happy with everything I've ever had done at AK Tailor & Alterations. I've brought items here for both minor and major changes over the past several years and the alterations have always been above and beyond my expectations. I've had pants hemmed, a bathing suit strap adjusted, suit sleeves taken up, and my wedding dress done here. All perfect. Mahla is reliable and honest, but also very warm and kind. I appreciate that she'll tell me if something can't be done, and she'll also say if something probably doesn't need altering and is fine as-is. High-quality work. Pricing has always seemed very reasonable to me, especially considering the personal attention you receive. It feels great when you pick up your clothing, try it on, and it feels like it was made just for you.

Mahla is amazing! I went in to get a suit fixed over a year ago and apparently left a sweatshirt in the fitting room. Mahla kept this for a YEAR! Right when I walked in she goes "you left something" and pulled out my sweatshirt! I was shocked as the sweatshirt wasn't a big deal to me, but the fact she kept it for so long was awesome. I got more suits fixed, she does terrific work and will continue to use her as my tailor! Thanks Mahla for being so sweet, honest, and doing amazing work!
