Chong provided alterations for my wedding dress last summer. It came in at least a full size too big and required multiple alterations to fit, including bringing up the length (which included a lining and 3D lace pattern), as well as taking in the sides, shoulders, neck, and a few other places. Each time she made small changes and let me try it on again, she was always patient with the additional requests for just the right fit. She worked very quickly and sometimes completed the alterations the same day. It was amazing to see how such a detailed, intricate pattern with multiple layers could be altered to fit a completely different height and body size than the dress was originally intended for. Although I didn't get pricing for all the alterations ahead of time, pricing was on par with wedding dress alterations; however, if you are concerned about budget, you probably want to make sure you ask about costs as additional changes are made. I would definitely recommend Chong for alterations for wedding dresses or other intricate details.

I bought a $225 formal dress that I absolutely adored, except it was a size to big. I’ve been to Chong’s before, and she does a pretty good job. When I brought the dress in, she said she could do the job, she just had to make some sections of the dress a bit tighter and hem it. Normally, she doesn’t charge that much for alterations on my uniform items. I came back a week later to see how it would fit; looked great. Then she wrote up a receipt and she charged me OVER $150 dollars for the alteration!!! She didn’t even give me a warning about the price! My mom asked why is cost so much, and she said she spent a whole day altering the dress... My mom has been overcharged for tailoring before too, but never that high. She’s a good person for dry cleaning, but I don’t recommend getting your stuff tailored here.

She did a great job on altering my dress! Price was reasonable and she got it done 2 days early than I asked for!

I dropped off a $250 dress to have some elastic replaced in the straps. I specifically told the woman I dropped it off with that I did NOT want them to cut into the dress. However, rather than opening the seam to pull the old elastic out, they CUT into the material four times and then did a half-baked job sewing it closed again. This is what I specifically stated that I didn’t want. They didn’t even bother trimming the threads; I had to do it myself. Thankfully, it only cost $20, but they’ve now ruined a $250 dress and the material will probably fray. I will never go back to this shop for any reason.

Dropped off a pair of pants on Tuesday and the lady there asked when I wanted them back. To that I replied that Friday would be fine. She then looked at me with a disgusted look and said, "how about Saturday?" This was fine because I didn't need the pants until Monday. I then asked out of curiosity how much it was to dry clean a dress shirt and it was $7.50!!! I should have asked how much for the pants, because that is crazy! I went in on Saturday afternoon and she said, "Did I call you...no...Then why did you come in? I'll call you when they are done." Ok I don't live far from the place so this was fine. About an hour later she calls back and says that they won't be done until next week. I'll just put it this way, I won't be returning here EVER. I'm going to settle for buying the woolite do it yourself dry cleaning kit or something of the like. If this doesn't work I guess I'm making the drive to Fairbanks.

I needed a back pocket seam sewed, a 4 in zipper replaced in a pair of jeans and the clasp replaced on a pair of slacks, OBVIOUSLY WORK PANTS... $40!!! I was NOT told it would be that much when I dropped them off... I will never use her again. Nice lady, cheap quality of work and over priced. I have random new sewn lines in black thread on stone washed jeans. Where the seam was repaired, it is VERY LARGE stitching.... on the butt. Looks horrible. Frayed thread all over every spot she worked on. Cheaper to figure out how to do it, buy a sewing machine and material and do it yourself!

Chong's did a beautiful job on hemming my white pants. The inseam was hemmed completely even across both legs, the thread color was matched exactly to the white of the pant. Perfect for a straight hem. I recommend them for straight pant inseam work.
