They can show alittle partiality at times... alittle discrimination... but, of course they have a fine reputation ... in Seattle- Bellevue... they need to increase their PR... They go off that reputation...

Excellent staff BUT...the new facility does not compare to the prior one. The dressing room is cramped and amenities such as sauna & Swiss steam shower are gone. Now, there's 1 sink, 1 toilet and 1 shower for all clients to share. We used to stay all day, enjoy multiple services plus a spa lunch. Now, we have 1 service and leave. We are torn because the estheticians and licensed massage therapists are first-rate but the facility is now ho-hum.

The girl who does my hair is great, but this place is horrible. Poor service for half the price. Bad music, like we all want to listen to club music in the afternoon. And now they have done a rate hike and tried to play like it is because I really care about recycling. At least stop lying and just raise prices. Find anywhere else

I'm so upset! I don't get to splurge on myself very often and for my birthday wanted nice balayage and a cut. Paid a lot of money for my hair to look hideous!! Not only that but they called me twice to reschedule! I just wanted to look nice and now I hate my hair. I even had a picture of what I wanted. Color and cut is so far off.

Student coloring in Bellevue (Jewel was the colorist), cut in Redmond (Shaia, hairdresser). I could not have been more pleased by both services and individuals. The salon methods employed by Gene Juarez are unconventional by American standards and that is what sets them apart from the average salon. Deep tissue scalp massage, complimentary beverages and hair treatments that work long-term are just a few of the delights you can expect upon your visit. I will return in the future, thank you!

I would like to say that I am very disappointed ,I make my appointment one time in Southcenter Mall the first time they cancel my hair appointment the second time they reschedule and they call me at home saying that did the Hair Design had an emergency the second time I decide to make the appointment and Gene Juarez Salon and Spa . at Bellevue Square I make an appointment I got there and when I was talking to the colorist she refused to do my hair color in my highlights at once she wants only to do a color and come back later and do some highlights I was very upset I only did a haircut but they don't even dry my hair so I have to leave because I couldn't stand up that place anymore I thought the Gene Juarez was the top of the line but I realize I they are very unprofessional they want to overcharge you, they have a poor customer service, sometimes what you see in the media is not close to the true I always thought Gene Juarez was going to be one of the best salons but I come to realize they they are not even closer is better to go to a small place in they will take care of you with respect and provide the service that you are asking I will never go back to Gene Juarez and Spa in Bellevue

The people who answer the phone are super snarky and not really helpful. Sometimes rude. Never going to call in for an appointment anymore. Never really been satisfied with any hair cuts I get there either. They always want to cut my hair while standing, but then the back of my hair feels shorter than the front. However, Anita is the absolute best at hair color and the only reason why I still go there at all. ALWAYS GO TO ANITA FOR COLOR!

First let me say, Gene Jaurez is and will always Be my favorite salons. But, the move to the bravern and the chaos it’s become. I won’t return nor will the group of friends that I come with, will come back to the Bellevue location. The new place is beautiful, but not personal anymore. Everyone scrambling around with their heads cut off and we waited for our visit back after the opening. We understand it was going to be a bit crazy for the start so we waited. Lines to check in and check out, managers looking so clueless and tension can be felt through the whole salon. My stylist seemed out of sorts, the spa seemed like they hated their jobs. I can’t begin to explain how much of a twilight zone the Bellevue salon has become. No one seems happy and luckily there was a young woman at the desk (I think Rachel?) she was so kind and helpful along with another girl (possibly named mikala?) they were thee only ones who tried to smile past all the craziness. I’m sorry Bellevue but this move has affected how I and others feel about your location. Was excited for the new location but now that I’ve and others experienced it, we won’t be back. No room in spa to comfortably change 2 people! Nonsense.

I have to say that even though I live very close to this salon that I'll never go here again. They had some huge phone issues the past few months, and they sent out an apology email saying that it would be customer appreciation month. As it turns out, they don't really have any specials or incentive to come back if you just need a basic cut and style. After all the issues, you would think they would take a flat amount off a service. Oh well. I know I'm not the only customer who is leaving for good, so that is their loss.

I have been to Gene Juarez many time before and never been disappointed, but this last trip left a poor impression and I am rather disappointed. I recently took my mother-in-law here while she was out visiting from California and while we did enjoy our facials and the service was attentive, when it came time to pay, we were unpleasantly surprised. I am no stranger to the price of a good facial, but I was quite taken aback when I was informed that my facial was 40$ more simply due to the aesthetician. I have had this done before for hair stylists, but never for a facial. I figured the policy had changed and while still somewhat in shock just paid the bill and left. I actually called back the next day to confirm that what we were told when paying about being charged more for a different aesthetician was correct, but we were told that in fact the price listed online for the facial is what you should pay (60 minutes for 115$). I also went back onto their website to confirm this news and found it to be true. Nowhere does it say on the website that there is an additional charge for a different person, and I was never told when booking the appointments over the phone, not once; I feel like this is something that should be mentioned when booking. I am stunned by the level of miscommunication if the policy has changed because I probably would have asked for a different aesthetician. Instead, I was surprised by it when the service was completed and we were paying, which is almost insulting. In addition, the woman who was checking us out was rather rude and dismissive when we questioned the increase in price; she seemed annoyed and was very short in her reply. I took my mother-in-law here before and we had always enjoyed it but after this experience, I am not sure we will be back.

My sister and I came for a spa day and loved it here! I've been looking for a nicer spa for a while now and haven't found anything comparable to this. They have a beautiful relaxation area with Sauna, steam room, and some amazing showers. Their services were also wonderful though a bit expensive but its worth it to have a spa day with all those accommodations.

Had a great experience for my first bayalage (and hair dye in general) appointment with Chai! It was a little awkward to start, as I had made an appointment with another stylist and apparently had been double booked. Also, getting started was a little hectic and I felt like I was being lead in a bunch of directions by different people, however, the woman who oversaw all the stylists (I believe her name was Tai, a manager?), welcomed me with a friendly smile, eased all of my fears, and set me up with Chai, who was a perfect match. I received a beautiful sunkissed bayalage look, a relaxing hair smoothing treatment, and Chai finished me up by styling my hair in waves :-) She provided good conversation along the way and I felt very confident in her hands! The only thing I regret is not taking up her offer to buy purple shampoo, because as I shop for it on my own, I'm absolutely stumped with all of the choices! Thank you Gene Juarez and Chai for making my first dye appointment a breeze. I look forward to booking with you in the future.

I'm usually satisfied with my services at Gene Juarez but I felt my comment fell upon deaf at my last visit. The week before my last visit, I had visited Redmond Gene Juarez. They said I had an environmental fee-no bigdeal. The next week my daughter got a haircut at Gene Juarez Galleria. They charged me again. When I complained they said I hadn't met the quota of 5 appointments in the year to be exempt. Turns out I had met the quota but they couldn't merge my accounts which is ridiculous. They couldn't waive the fee. It's not the money, it's the principle. The manager didn't even bother to speak to me directly, distracted by something else.

I had a pedicure last week at the Bellevue location and it was the worst pedicure I’ve ever had. My pedicure was only 25 min from beginning to the end. That was the shortest pedicure in my life. Also I don’t know what kind of nail polish was used but it took over 12 hours to get dry, and even after it was still sticky. So over that time everythig got stuck to the nail polish. My pedicure looked horrible, sticky nail polish with a layer of dust on it. Now when I’m thinking about it I think the girl put gel polish that should be dried under the lamp but she never did it. $60+ tips and had to redo the next day at the different place.

The folks behind tbe counter are always welcoming and oh the spiced tea taste so good. Arrived thinking my appointment was within minutes and sat down to enjoy my tea. The wonderful gentleman who cuts my hair happened to pass by and said I was an hour early. Not sure why the girls at the front counter didn't mention that at check-in but enjoyed my tea in the lobby. The spa is so much smaller and less posh than the previous location. Dont think I will indulge as in the past enjoying a spa day. The fabulous showers are gone. However my haircut and overall satisfaction regarding Vernon's outstanding tallent is what will keep me coming back. By the way...its now 15 min past what they said was my actual appointment. Arrr.

Hannah is a pleasure. I have been getting my hair colored and treated for over 30 years and I am often times disappointed. I have very difficult hair, curly and color resistant. Not very personal, yet very professional. Feels like a New York salon. The quality of service is amazing. The front desk people appear to be cranky. The color bar makes the colors look very orgnized. Although the color bar is organized throughout the day the colorists materials pile up making it appear dirty. The waiting area is quite plain, it makes you feel like you are in your kitchen and living room combined. I personally recommend the Gene Juarez Salon in North Gate where it's much more personal and cozy.

I went to this salon because of the great photos I was seeing on Instagram of ash blondes. Be warned, they cannot color your hair that color. I had my hair colored last week and paid almost $300 for a full balayage and cut. My hair turned out yellow and orange. They told me they'd fix it and gave me a more experienced stylist to go to over the weekend. She expressed that she wouldn't have recommended a balayage at all for the result I was looking for and told me she could lighten the yellow highlights to white. I now have even lighter yellow hair. It looks like Donald Trump's hair. As part of the 'fix' I was supposed to get a complimentary conditioning treatment which didn't get noted in the appointment so they are "going to do that next time". The stylist let me know she did the best she could with the time she had. (So glad I could 'squeeze' into your schedule for you to fix the terrible color job the last stylist gave me and now I can wear the yellow on top of yellow fix around for months.) Not only are the results terrible, but both times I went to the salon, the staff showed me to a changing room only to leaving me hanging when I came out and I had to ask if I was still getting tea, where I should hang my coat and where I should sit because they had started helping other customers and forgotten they were helping me. I don't recommend going here. I've had much better luck with Aveda salons and will be going back to Vann Edge in Seattle for my next appointment.

In my opinion, Gene Juarez truly is the premier hair care experience in the Seattle area. I have difficult hair to work with, but Monica at the Bellevue salon was able to navigate the curls and waves expertly, making it look easy even. Monica provided such a great experience that was friendly, relaxed and even made me laugh. I am not usually a big fan of getting my haircut but today I actually had fun! Super sweet, and the best cut of my life. You have a keeper in Monica, she embodies the service experience I have come to expect from hair care at Gene Juarez. The receptionists are welcoming and friendly. I have been a customer since 1987; first at Gene Juarez Northgate, then Bellevue. I love the new location at the Braverton. The designers are the best in the Puget Sound area.

Yong did my shellac mani yesterday and I’m loving the quality of work at this place. New UV lamps for CND shellac, and the polish is really high quality, along with the shaping she did for square oval. I tried their spa pedi too with the new line they carry: Dazzle Dash something rather and the colors are really on trend too. Place is pretty bougie if that’s your thing. Also hot tip: don’t park in the Meyenbauer garage. Made that mistake.

Had a great haircut with Elliot. Was impressed with his attention to detail and focus he put on making sure I was comfortable and happy with my cut. Unfortunately, I give this salon 1 star because of their transaction process. At time of checkout, I was told that I may have been charged twice and this “happens all the time” so just to check my bank statement in a few days and they would refund me. This should have been a red flag. A few days later, I noticed a double charge on my bank statement and called back. They were mildly apologetic, asked for my card information and said they would refund me the following day. I called back 4 days later asking the status of this refund and they questioned wether or not I was actually double charged and after being on hold and passed through a phone chain for about 15 minutes they asked me to email the bank statement and call back later this the card. When I mentioned that I had already had this conversation, they seemed confused and said they would look into this. I understand the holidays are busy, but I am disappointed in how they have handled a situation that should have been easily resolved.

I had an amazing experience at the Bellevue Gene Juarez Salon & Spa the other day. I came in for the Warm Shea Butter Melt service with GWEN and had the best spa experience ever. The service is an exfoliation, shower, massage, scalp treatment, you get a little bit of everything which will result in super soft skin.I have had this service in the downtown location in the past as well as other similar services from local spas but what stood out for me was the customer service I received. During my visit, I shared with her that I was going to shower off afterwards because of the oils from the scalp treatment since my kids like to touch my hair, she offered to shampoo and condition my hair for me while I was on the table so that I would not have to worry about my hair while trying to keep the lotion on my body. I was speechless. This is exactly the way a spa service and experience should be, catered towards each individual customer. I highly recommend Gwen if you visit the Bellevue Gene Juarez, she is a rare gem and the spa is very lucky to have her!

Very poor service. And friend and I came into the salon (I used to work at gene Juarez meanwhile so I know the drill on customer service) and no one was at the front desk for 5 minutes. Then when someone came, they passed us onto someone else right away. Then that girl told us she was “on her way out” and couldn’t assist us but said someone might be able to answer my friends question in 15 minutes which isn’t a big deal we don’t mind waiting but then the front desk person was clearly annoyed helping us and then came back to the salon after she had to go. Then the spa receptionist attendants looked over at us and said “what are you doing?” Rudely while we sat in the lobby waiting for the colorist. Very disappointed. I recommend using the Redmond salon.

It is not the haircut or other services that are bad, IT IS THE SERVICE. The people behind the counter and phone staff are so rude you should just go somewhere else... There are a ton of great places to get your hair etc. done in Seattle or Bellevue.

I noticed the other recent reviews today when I was getting ready to call for my next appointment. Oh no! I enjoyed getting hair cut and color services at Gene Juarez Bellevue Galleria for several years. So I visited the new location just after it opened in 2017 and experienced the same very slow check in, confusion, standing awkwardly for nearly 15 minutes while staff people were frazzled, attempted to check me and others in and then walked away and got busy with some other task. The stylist stations are also utilitarian and much closer together than in the old location (no more small nice touches?) and even the temperature setting for the HVAC is not adjusted warm enough for comfort, so all and all it is just not a pleasant experience. It is stressful and industrial. Most of these are things that could be addressed - seems like what's missing is a commitment to a good customer experience, so I am concerned to see that even several weeks after opening other reviewers are noticing the same continuing issues. I had hoped they would get fixed after the move in transition. Now not sure if I should schedule again here, bummer because I like my stylist Samantha a lot!

Been coming here for years for nail services. Have had some great experiences and some terrible. Mostly the service never starts on time and feels like they rush through to try to make up some time. Considering how pricey the service is relative to other options it is disappointing when service isn't good, but the place is clean and overall is a nice option.

The stylist did a bad job with the haircut, she also blow dried my hair in the end like I normally do when I am rushing ( no style, no volume, just blow dry). I kept waiting till last minute when she will take a big round brush to give me a style and it did not happen! I have been coming to be Bellevue Galleria location for years and loved it. I was excited about the new location at the Bravern with all the hoopla that that surrounded it. What a disappointment! The company clearly does not care about the needs of their customers or employees. The place is cramped and looks cheap. The massage rooms are so tiny that my therapist (who is excellent, bless his heart) did not even have room to move around comfortably when he was massaging me. The doors to the massage rooms are so thin that you can clearly hear people outside walking around and taking. The sense if tranquility is gone. And the locker room! Give me a break! One crappy, gym-quality tiny shower for the whole locker room and barely enough room for 2 people to change. Whoever came up with this plan needs to be fired. I really have ZERO desire to ever return to that salon. What a shame.

I left my first visit to the new location feeling very sad and disappointed. I have been a customer for 20 plus years and currently a spa member-I upgrade my service every month and my husband buys me gift cards regularly. While my service providers-including today-have been top-notch, the experience today truly felt like I was having a facial at Nordstrom Rack. When I checked in I was told to take a seat in the small waiting area-but none of the few seats were vacant so I stood "hanging out" waiting 7 mn or so feeling awkward until a spa hostess came into the noisy room and called my name out (nearly in my ear). She took me back to the "womens locker room" where there is 1 sink and 1 dressing room and a public ymca type shower. Guests and spa hostesses were tripping over each other. Then have to stand there in that teeny room waiting for the service provider. I can't go on because im so disappointed but I go there to relax-I left stressed out. Gone are the steam showers, footsoaks and any semblance of spa atmosphere. It was chaos.

I have never had anything other than 100% positive experiences since coming to the Bellevue Gene Juarez Salon about a year ago. From the front desk (check in/out), the women escorting me to the dressing room, the call center and my Premier Skin Care Therapist, Basilia - they have always treated me with kindness, respect and professionalism. The salon is in a very nice and expensive shopping center, and it can be a bit intimidating walking in to the salon - especially when you can’t afford to shop in any of the stores around it! But the staff make you feel very welcome when you enter the sanctuary of their spa. I go in every month now to treat myself to a facial. Recently, I happened to be there on my birthday and as I was getting my facial I said I wished I had booked myself a massage for a birthday treat. As we were talking, I mentioned my hair needed coloring too. I had never had any other service at this location, but my skin therapist, Basilia, went above and beyond to see what she could do to make my birthday a full day of pampering. She was able to arrange a schedule that included a manicure, massage and color - with a nice lunch and wine while I waited in between two of the services! It was a perfect birthday and I appreciated everyone who was able to work me into their very busy Saturday schedules. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone. I was very happy with all services and my color was amazing. They go above and beyond with little extras throughout every service you have. It really makes them stand out among other salons. You won’t be disappointed!

I love Gene Juarez, however, I left feeling like the front counter girl was disinterested in her job and with two toned hair. The stylist was super sweet, albeit distracted and ready to leave for the night. I do not blame her at all, but I just left less than satisfied.

They never answer their phones. It’s Friday at 10am and I’ve been on hold haven’t talked to a single person for 15 minutes. Bellevue is supposed to have better CS than average, this is seriously disappointing. Get a grip.

Really disappointed to be writing this review. After scheduling a color/partial balayage I came out with two tone hair that was terrible. I immediately went in where the manager was fantastic and rebooked me for the next day. Saw Allison who was great, but realistic, that she wasn’t sure it could be completely fixed. It looked a lot better after but sure enough after 1 wash it was back to being hideously two tone. I called again and spoke to Riley, I emailed her pictures since I was out of town for work. Took her a week to response (she was out of the salon for a family emergency so I completely understand). However I then emailed Colleen, head of customer service, and have not yet received a response almost a week later. I wanted a refund because my hair has been damaged enough and I don’t trust it to be fixed, plus tipping $30-$40 after each service ads up after the first service was so terrible. I’m embarrassed they would want anyone walking around with hair like this saying this is what happens at Gene Juarez.

This place has a sad vibe to it anymore. I’ve been to the new location twice and no one is terribly friendly or energetic. The stylists seem uninterested and robotic. The new salon has an industrial feel vs. the comfortable spa like feel of the old one. I think this move has done a number on the staff and the customer really feels it.
