The onlything that I hate about going there is the people who works there ask you for a tip. I belive tip dose't have to be mandatory. We are payung enough for the seevice.

Hole in the wall spa. The website doesn't reflect the the bldg or the environment you'll experience. However, I love korean spas so I had to give it a try. I spent most of time there in the heated mud room, I wanted to try the salt room but was turned off by the used towels in salt. No they don't change them out even though it's 90 degrees in the room... so i sat on the bench in the salt room for a few mins. But even with that...i was still ok with being there. So here is where they truly earned zero stars. I entered the bathing room. They have 2 soaking pools. As I climbed into the warm soaking pool an employee asked me if I was getting a body scrub, I said yes and she asked me to get out of the pool. As I've been to several spas before I know you're supposed to soak before a scrub. She explained that they use an oil and that my skin should be dry. However all the other ladies were in the pool. As I sat contemplating this... I realized that this was pure RACISM. This was easily confirmed as everyone else movesd from the pool to the scrub table and how they put wet towels over me on the table to soften my skin for the scrub. Needless to say the scrub was intense and I cldnt get out of there fast enough. It was very disheartening. Please don't go here...it is clear that if you're not Asian you aren't welcome. I'm sad that I'm writing this post in 2018.

It’s very convenient compare to SpaWorld. Easy access from 395 , Columbia pike and little river turn pike ... Nice place to relax. They need to clear the bad air inside the sauna...

Today was my first time at Riverside Spa. I was a first time patron of SpaWorld in March; I stumbled across Riverside Spa on google a few nights ago. I am not fluent in Korean or any of the dialects, so for anyone coming, note the signage and labels are all in Korean. Because of someone else's pictures and Waze, I was able to navigate to the parking lot on the first try. The manager greeted me and smiled. They accept cash and credit cards. I noted in someone else's review they felt awkward because of tattoos. I have several and did not feel judged by unwarranted glares of the women or staff. I did note they place a sheet between the skin and hands when performing massage. OSHA or trade secret? For $20, I had several dry sauna sessions (3 is maximum advised), relaxed in a warm pool (the jets were not on), and took a nap in the pink salt room. The women all smiled and said goodbye as I left. It is not as large or visually pretty as SpaWorld, but I feel as relaxed and my skin is glowing.

This place got 100% way better than a year ago! New staff! Friendlier and attentive! The owner has always been nice to everyone- I always see him talking to the guests in the locker room. The dry sauna is my favorite room along with the cold pool. I can't do the steam sauna because I'm not used to it... Overall the place is cozy, in good repairs. The owner is listening to his guests and he's making renovations constantly. Kudos to this Oasis!

I would put one star but I don't want to feel hatred for anyone. I am in my 30s, Caucasian, I have tattoos. I was warned I may get judged while in a Korean spa, but I did take the risk. For me healing and the body should be handled with a welcoming gentle approach. A little bit of empathy and compassion can go a long way. Though I love a deep tissue massage, their is something unsettling about get your limbs thrown back on the table like your laying on a butcher block, getting jabbed at. Plus there was a sheet over me the whole time, I guess she did not want to touch me directly, which is a weird thing during a massage. I must admit I felt like a piece a meat, I am sensitive like us all and deserve common courtesy. When I was scrubbed down with Irish spring soap and other cheap soaps, that should have been a red flag. Or when I got laughed at for not understanding during our communication and she went on and on in Korean with her coworker I'm assuming it was about me, because the laughter continued to progress. I didn't let it get at me, I tried to keep positive. I normally tip 20+ dollars when I get bodywork done. First time I did not tip, a part of me wanted to, but when the staff returned my smile at them with mad dogging glares, I just had to just get out of there to a more peaceful atmosphere. Maybe if your Korean you get the Royal treatment. Maybe they definitely did not want me to return. They did a good job of that. The couple at the front were decent towards me. They at least knew how to smile. Maybe they don't get paid well enough and they are angry inside. & it shows in their craft. I know spa world barely pays their masseuses. Well I guess I can say it but they cant, (because of the laws around a business in the united states), but if your not one of them, I think they would prefer if you went somewhere else. Hope you guys figure it out over there, really do.

I was scared to test this at first but it turned out to be great experience. As for a guy, all I was caring about is steam rooms and cold pools, and did not need "bells and whistles". Since I am planing to use this very frequently, price is very important. Pool area and steam rooms were reasonably clean, they give you towels, toothbrush, razor and different lotions. If you are looking for special occasions event, you should consider Spa World; however if you just need basics, and low prices, this is a way to go. I will be coming here very often from now on.

Old staff guy talk bad to customers. He took the used towels and reuse for customers without washing. I think that is very nasty. Actually I like to go there but now I have to think again.

A place to avoid! The staff doesn’t speak english so it’s really hard to communicate. They talk to each other while scrubbing their customers and laugh loudly which is very uncomfortable and awkward cause it makes people wonder if they’re making fun of anyone. As shown on their front door and website they close at 11pm but last time I went there they rushed me to leave without even letting me wash my hair and it was 8:30pm. Not to mention that the ladies spa has a communicating door with the men’s spa which doesn’t make me comfortable at all, and while I was exiting the room I saw a men coming of that communicating door I was really shocked. Never went back and will never go again ever

This is a good little local bath house/spa! It has a small, close-nit feel a good neighborhood spa should have. The staff is accommodating when you need something, and the facilities are perfectly sufficient for when you need a nice hot bath, spa, or sauna. This is a Korean Style spa, however, so be prepared for the no swimwear rules.

I love this place a lot .its small ,clean and the people who works there are really good .first time I went there been naked was kind of embarrassing specially with people around in the same state and felt like people are looking and maybe judging .now I am addicted to there wonderful scrub ($50)y can't beat that .no additional charges y decide on the front what y want and y pay for it in advance so there is no up selling anything inside .their English is very limited 1st time it was confusing but after that it was fine they will ask y to lay on a clean table that they clean after each client then will put spring soap all over your body and start the scrub.the only words I hear is (turn around ,back ,side ...)they do speak between them in their language and it really doesn't bother me.I close my eyes and relax while enjoying the scrub .I go once a month and I feel sparkly clean after that .the daily showers doesn't remove the dead skin and dirt we accumulate over the time .the lady with the tattoos that she said that they judge her .I think it's all in your head because I saw people with tattoos and they treat them the same as they did with me (zero tattoos in my body)I will say give them a chance and be open about the different cultures.I always tip between $15 and $20 .not tipping is the rudest thing y can do no matter what .other spas charges up to $200 for mediocre scrub . P.s (usually I don't write reviews but since I been going there for many years now .I feel it's only fair to write about those awesome ladies who works hard to make a living )I highly recommend this place

Great post-race treat. I'm glad I found this place. It's become a tradition for me to go to a spa whenever I visit the D.C. area. The great reviews and awesome prices ($15 entry with sauna and $30 body scrub) drew me in. It's small...two pools, one hot one cold-ish; steam sauna and dry sauna. But the best part is the body scrub. I've been missing these since I left Korea almost ten years ago. The ajumma worked on me for almost an hour and included a little facial scrub and body massage at the end. Skin so soft, body completely relaxed... Everyone was very nice... And there is a great Korean restaurant next door.

It’s a very nice place for relaxing in saunas, but employees are unfriendly and rude with customers. Plus, Asians talk loud in the jacuzzis area making the atmosphere very noisy. Some employees are “stakers”.

Nice small Korean spa. Steam room, dry sauna, cold pool, and hot tub. Small area to relax and friendly staff. Great restaurant next door also.

I’m not sure where the negative reviews come from. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the amenities (while small/few) serve the intended purpose. I’ve never had any issues with communicating with staff and I certainly haven’t noticed any discrimination (I’m a Black man and there are plenty of us who frequent this spa). The only reason I give it 4/5 stars is because the hot tub is entirely too hot. Hot tubs are generally found to be between 100°-104°. This tub was reading over 110° which can be dangerous for many. Aside from that, cruise* on over and enjoy the relaxation!

Spa Riverside was nice. Small but nice. 1 cold tub, 1 hot tub. 2 saunas - 1 steam sauna and 1 dry sauna. They offer massages and body scrubs of which I did not receive. I reiterate it's no Spa World or King Spa but it's nice to visit a Korean spa. Overall, I give it 4 stars. Mostly because there wasn't any communication from the staff about what to do. There were signs. Everywhere.
