Wow! My wife and I were Here for a work conference, stopped in & stayed for an entire spa day ! Created our own packages... loved everything! If you are at va Beach and want excellent massage and manicures, this is the place! Staff from front desk on are warm and welcoming! I would give you more stars if I could !

My facial was mediocre and the reason I am giving a four star. She did not do extractions, and essentially exfoliated my face for 30 plus minutes-.

My daughter, Aunt and I started a new Christmas Eve tradition of getting mani pedis together. We absolutely love the Salon at 31st Street! We had excellent service, complimentary hand and arm massages and the massage chairs are fabulous! I went back this week to get a shellac manicure and am going today to get a pedicure with my daughter and friend. Love it!!

I took my first weekend away in a long time and went to Virginia Beach, and scheduled a massage for myself and the woman I am dating. Prudence was my masseuse, and she was absolutely AMAZING! Perfect application of pressure, impeccable attention to all my problem areas where stress and tension always manifest. I have a massage therapist in Washington, DC who I see when my schedule permits - and I always stay with whomever provides the best service for my needs. After just one session, I can safely say Prudence is AS GOOD as the therapist I have seen in Washington after four years. Definitely book an appointment with her if you're ever in VA Beach!!!! If you're visiting this spa for nail services, AVOID it at all costs. They make you pay for everything from a foot massage to sandals after a pedi. Things that are usually included in this service elsewhere. I paid $80 for a fill in( with gel polish) and a regular Pedicure on Sunday. They weren't worth the cost at all!! Very "bumpy" until the polish, not smooth and odd shape. The nail tech, Kim, was nice so I didn't make too big of a fuss about it. However, by Thursday, my nails were horrible! The gel polish started to reveal dust and particles that were underneath/ mixed in when painting. I chose white, so it was very obvious. By Saturday, my toe nail polish began to chip badly on multiple toes as if cheap polish was used. I am so livid I paid so much money for nails that couldn't even last a week!! And even more upset that I had to pay more money to fix the issues due to being out of town. I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Enjoyed my massage and my manicure came out very nicely. I did have a gift card but wish I could've rec'd the actual "Mother's Day" pkg my family paid for even though it's no longer May. I understand each month has different specials but sometimes "Life gets in the way" and it's not always convenient to go within a set amount of time. If they would've honored that I would've given them 5 stars.

Extremely happy with the service and results! From the moment I walked in, they were gracious, courteous and professional. My stylist was Keirra (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) and she was sweet, listened to me and was fabulous :) I got exactly what I had pictured (full bangs are pretty hard to be absolutely satisfied with :P) and especially when I had had a bad start to my morning with another salon, this was exactly what I had needed to make my day better. The staff were all very friendly, the products they used felt very calm on my scalp. I will definitely be recommending this establishment to my friends and will definitely be coming back!

I called at the last minute today hoping they might have time for a hair color, cut, trim, and a keratin treatment. They not only made the time for me, they also gave me manicure and a pedicure. My stylist, Anna, was wonderful and very patient with me. Keratin is a long drawn out process but worth it in the end. The manicure turned out to be gel which is also long and drawn out but Anna is the mother of patient and has a great send of humor. I truly enjoyed her stories about her transition from Russia to 65America a few year ago. She supports her twin boys and owns a small home nearby. I was very impressed by her drive and dedication. My hair turned out beautifully and an old friend, and even my own husband, didn''t recognize me afterwards! Thanks Anna for turning this old 65 uear old feel young again. Many thanks to Jennifer for the beautiful pedicure! Jennifer was neat, fast, and had my crazy sense of humor. I will definitely be seeing these two ladies again! Thank you also goes to the very kind lady at the front desk. She made sure that my car did not get towed telling me where to park for free. These ladies Rock and I was so impressed by them all. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! Loved it there!

Not a place for wedding parties no matter what they say. Avoid at all cost! My fiance now wife visited this location and had contacted them well in advance to reserve their services and even still when we arrived they did not have the staff to provide the services we reserved and paid for. After everything was done services charged did not match delivered. My wife spent her wedding day with a mediocre nail service and a none existent spa package. Now we have spent 3 hours plus waiting for them to recalculate and realize that we were overcharged, treated like trash, and the bride who should have been pampered and treated like a queen sat for 4 hours for a bad mani pedi. Im a guy an even I know 4 hrs for a mani pedi is ridiculous. Fyi, per management refunds are not guaranteed even when they are clearly at fault. The owner is literally sitting in the back office refusing to see us. Advice, stay away! Update my wife's Nails along with half of the girls they got their nails done there all fell off within 5 to 7 days some might have lasted 9 days but for the amount that we spent there over $2,000 it was definitely not worth it. After everything was said and done they only refunded about $150 for services they charged but never delivered. Don't believe them when they say when they know how to do dip or acrylic nails. They have no experts.

No way will I ever return to this salon. I visited wanting balyage and even had numerous photos depicting DIMENSION. I walked out With splotchy color and almost all over bleach. My hair is long..... underneath was white and breaking off within a few weeks. Thank God I have enough hair to hide the breakage. The stylist from Miami jacked it up. Now I'm treating with olaplex to strengthen again.... WAY overpriced for the level of knowledge and technique. 500.00 for 7 hours which actually was unnecessary timing and I think damage control, because she got real quiet. :( Very busy reception area, meaning too much retail.. Courteous manager that did try to smooth it over by having me revisit another stylist.. She was nice and tried to incorporate lowlights, which faded fast to no avail. Unprofessional approach by management overall. Not recommended at all.. Try Dupree's Salon! Way better!!!!

UPDATE: I updated after receiving a call from the front manager. She said she wished she had handled my bad experience differently(she was very busy at the time). This was a bad gel nails job but I will say I have been there for the psst wo years and got great pedicures. She offered to have my nails redone on my next trip out. I recant and will say they care about the tourist trade. I will try them the next time I am in town. Cudos for the effort to make things right.

I booked a body treatment and pedicure for my friend who is getting married, and a pedicure for myself. My friend’s therapist during her body treatment kept saying, “oops,” during her entire service, provided no draping during the exfoliation, and left the room because she ran out of product. The shower was cold, the scalp massage hurt, and my friend was overall not pleased with the treatment. She did say her skin felt soft and the rest of the massage was fine (and she was actually draped during the massage portion). During our pedicures the nail files were visibly dirty and had obviously not been properly disinfected between clients. Single use items were reused between clients. Dirty tools were put back into containers and drawers for clean tools. Sanitation was questionable at best. The technicians kept leaving during the service and not coming back for what felt like eternity. Our feet were wrapped in hot towels and left until they were FREEZING. My technician’s fingernails were too long and kept scratching me. My friend’s tech (Tina) did a GREAT job though! Products were nice and the atmosphere was nice.

Yvonne has been cutting my hair for over 4 years, she is excellent! Not only does she cut my hair, but my mother, sister, and cousins are also her clients. They also have a offering of spa services; their massages and facials had me falling asleep from relaxation. The staff at Salon@31st are extremely professional and welcoming, I have never had any issues with their service. I highly recommend this salon and spa!

This place only deserves the 1 star because my massage was amazing. Every other service I had done was horrible. I've never had such a bad nail experience before coming here. The lady I had doing my pedicure and manicure I can tell she did not want to be there. She was really rough when doing my mani and pedi. My French tip manicure started looking yellow after the second day! I went with a bridal party and there wasn't enough employees to take care of us. They had some of us waiting hours. We had booked ahead of time so they should have been prepared.

I have tried several salons in the area before deciding to stay with Salon at 31st. All of the staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable about their jobs, but my favorite stylist is Dervelle. He is a master stylist and just superb at his job. You can describe almost any cut or color and he is able to get the results you are looking for. I sometimes have to wait just a little to get an appointment with him but he is worth the wait to get his fabulous results. He is also a very nice person who genuinely seems to care about each of his clients.

I was looking at their website while on vacation and saw it was right next to my hotel. They claimed haircuts for men from.. "$20-25 depending on length and thickness" on their website and I walked in before closing. While the haircut itself turned out alright for the most part, my stylist who claimed to have been cutting mens hair for over 30 years ended up cutting my neck with the clippers and then had the gall to ask what was wrong when I flinched. (You know that feeling when your clients ask you what happened to your head during a meeting right after a haircut? Yeahhhh, feels great...) She applied some goop to my hair that ended up turning me into what looked like a wet rat because she wet my hair beforehand, something I never do and didn't want. (I like that dry matte look, and told her what I used multiple times before she was done with my hair) I had to go to the bathroom and wash it out before I left, lol. To top THAT off, at the end they charged me the full $25, even though my hair is literal straw AND was short to start off with. All said, I was in it for $27 with a tiny tip, and dealing with a raw neck and not walking out looking great, well.. That ain't getting a cut from a salon, IMO. I'm convinced places like this have a pricing 'range' so that they can charge tourists the maximum listed amount and not feel too bad about it. They were nice enough people, but damn.. Overall, decent if you can stand the sight of a little blood and deal with questionable pricing policies, pick a different salon if you're a dude and aren't feeling that though. Might be a totally different story for women and their needs, but I mean, my thing is if you can handle THAT, you should be able to do a quick men's cut NO problem.

Incredibly disturbed by the disservice I received at this salon. I booked weeks in advanced for a bridal party. The women who did my bridal parties mani’s/pedi’s were rude beyond belief and spoke only to each other. I was there for four and a half hours for a manicure and pedicure. I got dip polish on my nails, the manicurist did not completely know how to smooth it out, leaving bubbles on my nails. Also, did not evenly distribute the polish. A week after my wedding, my dip polish on my index finger completely came off. I have never paid so high for a terrible job... When speaking to management, she claimed that she didn’t think that her staff were being rude and insisted that I was happy with their work. Management is always the issue, if you cannot professionally handle crises’ such as these, the salon will go down the drain. Hopefully people do not have this same experience - especially not for their bridal party.

This is the only salon I will ever go to. I've been going here for years to get fashion colors and fun cuts. I tried other salons before them and was always disappointed by how my color and cuts didn't reflect what I'd asked for. This salon uses all the latest products and I've never left disappointed. I get compliments on my hair for months after I leave. The salon serves coffee, tea and wine and there's also a sushi/hibachi place next door that will deliver to the salon. They also do an amazing job on the spa side of things and have a ridiculous amount of options for your nails.

Walked in on a whim for a pedicure with my partner on a vacation. So glad we did! Salon/spa looked very clean and fresh. Normally we would book an appointment but we hadn't planned on getting anything done. Thankfully, the staff were able to get us in right away for pedicures next to each other. Not 100% sure what our nail techs names were but they were friendly and gave us wonderful "volcano" pedicures. They also offered us a complimentary drink at the start of our pedicure and started massage chairs for us. For the two specialty pedicures we paid just over 100 which was well worth the quality of the treatment we received. We are going to visit again next year when we are back in town. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a nice relaxing experience.

Another shotty 50 dollar haircut place. I personally can't stand the "level" type salon. Anyway for a couple of cuts I had a nice Ukranian girl doing my hair and loved it. Then she was flaking out constantly. She canceled last minute on I'd say the last two if not three appointments I made with her. Then They switched me. I had surgery and was not well at the time but needed a haircut badly. I didn't realize but they switched me to the owner. I felt very sick and waited anyway because I really was desperate for a haircut. THIRTY MINUTES. Then left. They called me thirty minutes after that. So, an hour later. Are you coming back for your appointment with THE OWNER? This was clearly stressed. I said no and I didn't care who it was. She didn't have the class to call me and apologize either. BTW, I passed her in the parking lot smoking a cigarette, yelling at someone on the phone. She seemed very rushed to get to my appointment. Wink. Another no.

Victoria was my nail technician and she was pleasant, professional and obviously talented, my feet feel great and are now in summertime mode (meaning I can where flip flops through October). I recently moved to Virginia Beach and wanted to book a massage a facial, but had no idea where to go. I decided to give Salon@31st a try and was pleasantly surprised! My husband booked the appointments for me as a surprise so since I didn't have much time to plan my day, I ended up being about 20 minutes late and they were so nice and understanding about it! Will did my massage and it was wonderful! I was a little bit skeptical knowing that someone of the opposite sex was giving me a massage, but once I got over that, I was able to relax. He was so nice and professional the entire time and made me feel very comfortable. It was an extremely relaxing massage and he worked all of the areas that I mentioned were tense or painful. He did a few things that I've never had a massage therapist do before like different shoulder and hip stretches, but they actually felt really good! He seemed to take my body type into consideration as well. I'm a dancer and have very flexible muscles so he really worked the areas that were tight and stretched out certain muscles as much as I needed. After my massage, Oxana did my facial. She was wonderful as well and really knew what she was doing! She didn't do anything without asking me first if it was something that I wanted. She really paid attention to my skin type and told me exactly what she was using. She performed extractions on me as well (which I admit, aren't the most comfortable), but they were very effective and she let me choose whether I wanted her to do them or not. She also used electricity to rid my pores of the bacteria, but only after she gave me the option to use it or not. Those were the only two parts of the facial that I wouldn't exactly call relaxing, but they are so good for your skin! The steam, mask, massage, and everything else that she did was so nice and relaxing! I will definitely go back to her and totally recommend her. The entire staff was so nice to me that day especially after I showed up late. I definitely don't think you will regret giving Salon@31st a try! I hope this was helpful!

I just got done getting a mani-pedi at Salon@31 Day Spa. I was a little apprehensive at first-being from out of town. They got me in within a half hour of walking in the door without an appointment. It was clean and very comfortable. I had the sweetest, kindness girl (her name is Onna) do my nails. She was so nice and attentive to all my needs. She went out of her way to make me comfortable and did an excellent job on my nails. I wish I could take her home to do my nails every time. I'd recommend this place EVERY TIME.

I went their today to do a try out for my bridal updo. The salon is very pretty and the staff seems very nice. I showed the stylist a picture of the updo I loved. She said "let's do it" and SHE DID. In fact I think it looks better than the one in the picture. I have very fine hair so she really had to work with my hair to make sure it would stick and have volume. It only took her 45 minutes and it cost me $60. She really worked to make MY vision come true. Overall excellent experience and of course I would go back.

I bought the spa pedicure and facial package for $99.00. The spa pedicure was decent. The woman did a nice job and used polish and stones and even offered me wine! However, the facial was a NIGHTMARE. Ok. First she never offered me anything to drink. Her English skills were terrible. I could hardly understand her. But the entire facial sucked! She basically went super fast and I felt like she was doing a pedi on my face. Worse, she kept trying to up sell me more expensive packages. I had to say NO 3 times! And EVEN WORSE, she told me how horrible my skin was. "You have black head here and here and big pore up here". I have never been so constantly insulted in my life. I almost jumped up and left in the middle. Don't go. It's not high class like it sounds. They should be in a mall and it was the biggest waste of my money ever. I go to spas and travel all over the USA with my husband. If you like being insulted and having a high pressure sales, go ahead and pay $100 for the worst 40 mins of your life.

Came in yesterday for a pedicure with my sister. The nail tech kept digging at the cuticle on my big toe, even after I told her that it hurt. She left a flap of skin by the nail. Now its infected and purulent. I won't return there.

The salon is beautifully set up. Clean, comfortable and a great staff. Dianna was doing my pedicure, such a kind and personable young lady. When she got to the massage part I questioned her as to how wonderful she massaged and she said I am a massage therapist. I then decided she needed to give me a massage. She hit every point and knew where my pain was. Amazing to be so in tune with what you do! I also had Kim put a nail on my toe, and Julie paint my toe nails- I just want to say the proffesionalism of these ladies was so impressive. Best pedi- best massage- wish I lived here I would go all the time. I highly recommend this saloon and these ladies.

Salon@31st street is a really amazing place. From the moment I walked in I was treated very well. The front desk associates are extremely friendly and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. I was receiving a 1 hour massage and did not know what to expect. I should state that I am a licensed massage therapist and my expectations are very high. Well the atmosphere at this salon is very professional and the massage room is beautiful. The massage therapist was very good. I don't like to talk during my massages and she allowed me to just relax and enjoy the experience. I would recommend this place to anyone!!!

This place is so awesome! I wish places like this existed everywhere. All the workers are so nice, everything is beyond sanitary and the atmosphere is great. Jillian did my first pedicure and she was bomb! The foot massage she gave me was out of this world. Love this place! Five stars isn't enough.

My first massage package here was fantastic so I booked the same package a month later & received a completely different service than the first time. Hot stones were used throughout my entire 2 hour massage & they were SCOLDING hot. Upon mentioning how hot they were, the therapist continued using them just as hot for the entire massage. By the end, I was getting PTSD just hearing the hot stone oven open & her take them out. The massage therapist also bended my legs up behind my back & across my belly in chiropractic like motions that was extremely uncomfortable, nothing like this was done at my first massage. I did not receive a scalp massage or aromatherapy as I had the first time & no champagne after the whole ordeal as with the first massage. These are all services that should have been included in the service I paid for. I mentioned all of this upon checkout & was given a $20 credit and an attitude. I believe if you offer a service, all workers should be trained properly on that service. It’s a shame because the first time was so great but after this experience I will not be returning.

Went here with a friend, Girls Day!, Loved it!...but today tried to switch my pedicure and massage to Pedicure and Haircut and was told I would have to pay a cancel fee on the massage, because it's a loss of income, even though I wanted to book a different service! Well, getting my massage today, under duress, though I am sure it will be perfectly enjoyable, but I doubt that I will book my spa day here again...Poor customer relationship, I try going to Dakota M's or go back to Dupre's!!!

I went to salon 31st for haircut. Destiny did a great job, she understands her clients well. The thing I did not like at all is that they charge $20 extra for long haircut which makes no sense at all to me. She trimmed off 2 in only, I think short hair people would cut more though. I think they need to work on their pricing strategy to make more sense to their costumes.

I am new to town and was searching for a new salon. I assumed this would be a good salon after reading all of the reviews. I went in with long uncolored brown hair and asked for an ombre and trim. Initially walking out of the door (after almost 5 hours) i was happy and surprised with how blonde my hair had become. After a day or two washing and attempting to style it, i realized that my hair was completely ruined. Lets just say, its now cut up to my shoulders. She completely over-processed what was very healthy hair and i have to have it all chopped off. I'm just so upset i spent 250 dollars on it.. Not even two months later, here i am looking for a new salon to get my hair recolored because this now just looks like a mess. Maybe i just had bad luck, but in my opinion and other stylists opinion, she should have known how much my hair could take before she'd ruin. Hope nobody else ends up with my catastrophe.

My first experience at a spa. I loved it and felt so pampered! I would definitely recommend! Kim did my facial which felt amazing and my skin feels and looks so much better. Berthalicia did a fabulous job on my hair. She's the best, I would recommend her to anybody! Jen did a great job on my makeup and giving tips. I can't wait to go back! I also had a mani and pedi and had a great experience, I wish I could remember the girl's name . This is definitely a 5 star salon, and everybody is friendly and helpful.

I got my best friend the 65$ special (Swedish massage 30 mins and pedi) her massage was just fine but her pedi was done by a Russian chick who painted her nails with her sandals on she painted over the top coat -not the base coat, messed up then started over and squeezed acetone all over her leather sandals and got nail polish on them. When she called to complain the manager was not In and they claimed they would have the manager call her back and failed to do so, they did the same thing when I called.. i should have listened to the other reviews about this place but I didn’t.. so keep this in mind y’all.

I moved to VA Beach in 2014 and have tried MULTIPLE nail salons... I decided to google some reviews on nail salons near me since I was up for trying a new place. I called for a same day.. Obviously last minute to see if I could get in for a Deluxe Mani-Pedi and... Awesome to hear that they had 1 opening and I could get in. Score! I arrived like 5 minutes early and was seated within 2 minutes. Yana did both my mani-pedi and she was FABULOUS! She was so precise and kind and made sure I was comfortable at ALL times. I think their pricing is spot on... I've been to 3 star nail salons which are priced out identical. But here you get professional service and a great atmosphere. I will definitely be back and when I return I won't make a "last minute" call. I'll make sure Yana is available. Thank you Salon@31 for making my first time a memorable one.

I went there last September and had a good experience with peekaboo highlights and a great cut. I don’t get my hair done often because it’s long so I waited to go back in May when I knew I’d be on vacation in Virginia Beach. I asked for the same girl and I’m sorry I don’t know her name but she is in the booth to the right of Iris. I also mentioned that Iris helped with the cut last fall, so I would accept either one of them. This time I got Iris, not knowing until after my appointment that she’s only been coloring hair for 6 months. My first issue is that what she quoted me in the beginning and what I was later changed varied by over $100. The biggest issue was that first she didn’t remove foils in the front like she should have when they had fully processed as she said she would. Then she didn’t use enough toner and didn’t leave it on long enough. My hair had some highlights that were the right color and a lot that turned silver gray from being over processed! I went to cover gray hair not leave with more. The next day I went back and asked her to fix it. She barely used enough toner and what she did use the color turned brown and she didn’t even go to the root. (She seemed afraid to use enough toner) I still had several silver streaks underneath and streaks that were blonde at the root and brown throughout. It was terrible. I was actually crying in the chair when I saw the color. She then told me because it was my birthday that she wanted to use the curling iron on my hair instead of just a blowout but she did not tell me this would be an up charge or even ask if I wanted it done. When I went to leave I was charged another $35 for the curls I didn’t ask for! Over $300 and 6 hours in a chair later, I left in tears on my birthday. As I was on vacation, there was no way I was going back in there for another fix! Another gross habit she has is after telling me she washes her own hair once every two weeks, she kept demonstrating brushing her hair with the same brush she was using on me! I do think she does well with hair cuts, but she is not ready to be coloring hair at full price! She also needs to be honest and upfront about what the cost will be of everything she does to your hair!

I originally went in to have highlights and they ended up pretty different than what I asked for (in other words my hair turned out pretty messed up). However, they gave me a discounted price and brought me back in where the owner corrected the problem the next day and brought my hair back to it's natural color free of charge. They were more than accommodating to correct the problem and then later called to check up on whether everything was still okay.

Many times while vacationing in Virginia Beach, I was always tempted to try Salon at 31st. This past visit I went in for a spa deluxe manicure and pedicure. The Salon is beautiful inside and very relaxing. The staff was very good and courteous. The manicure and pedicure along with a complementary glass of wine was a very relaxing, rejuvinating experience. I will definitely stop in whenever I am in Virginia Beach again.

This is a long review, but it will save you a lot of hassle if you are looking into booking this salon for any nail services. If I could post a review with zero stars, I would. We booked this salon for a bachelorette party girl's day out months in advance. When we got to the salon, the place looked high scale and nice enough. But after spending four hours getting a manicure and pedicure (for only 4 girls) and spending close to $300, the bride's toe nail polish slipped off. All three of the bridemaids' finger polish chipped off and one bridesmaid's toe nail polish slipped off, just like the bride's. And this happened within the five minutes of walking to the car. I don't know what type of polish they're using at this place, but it isn't quality. For the amount of money and time we spent, you'd think it would last longer than five minutes. Then, when we called the salon in the car on the way to the next bachelorette party event, we were told to take pictures of the damage and send them to an email address. We did so right away. A day later and still no response back, so we called again. We were told they never received the email and it didn't matter because they weren't going to reimburse us any of the money. They even tried to blame us, saying we must have done something adventurous after we left the salon and that took off the polish. We walked to the car and noticed it all messed up then. Nothing "adventurous". Walking to the car and driving to dinner. All they offered to do is a touch up if we come in tomorrow, but tomorrow is the wedding and there is no time. So everyone's nails are ruined for the wedding. The bride had to remove the toenail polish and paint her's herself. All that money wasted. Especially since they charged us a ridiculous amount (extra) for every little thing. It was definitely a waste of time and money. Do not go here! I have pictures to prove everything and if google allowed us to post them here, I would. I'll be posting all of them and this review on social media though. Count on that.

I'm here for vacation and I first booked a couple's massage with my boyfriend. (They have an amazing 20% off massages deal if you book on a weekday mon-thurs!) It was mine and my boyfriend's very first professional massage. The two ladies were so amazing and so real and down to earth! Polite, making small talk just basically making us feel completely comfortable! It had to be one of the most relaxing day of my life! After we payed, I immediately asked if I could book a pedicure for later that day, if available. I was able to book one and right away I was addressed and brought to the seat. Immediately the nail technician offered me a drink and when I asked for water, suggested a red or white wine. I didn't even know they had that! Of course I took the white (and she handed me a bottle of water, too!) This place is so classy and when I return for my next vacation here at Virginia Beach, I know I booking this place again! I love it here! ❤

So I ask the lady where and who cut her hair, coz it's been months that I really wanted to cut my hair, I'm just skeptical where salon should I go... And I made a right choice for choosing this salon, Destini did a great job, she cut may hair the way I wanted, combination of Bob cut BUT at the same time I kept my long hair, kinda tricky!!??? Today my husband and I went to get a massage for our anniversary. The atmosphere and hospitality was wonderful. We were booked for a 90 minute massage and the therapists were late and ended early. However, we were only charged for an hour when we told the front we hadn’t had a full 90 which was very nice. Both of our massage therapists obviously were new or had very little anatomy instruction. I can’t even begin to explain the odd poking motions and movements she was doing to me. It was the most bizarre massage I have ever received. She went to my head and lathered it in oil and pulled my hair, I am not even sure of half the massage of what she was trying to accomplish. My shoulders leaving the salon hurt worse. The worst part was her nails were very sharp and hurt at times, I almost had her stop 5 times but I was trying to just get it over with. For those wanting a relaxing and thorough massage, I don’t recommend this place at all. Fortunately we are from out of town and my normal therapist can fix what wasn’t fixed from this.

I am in the Navy and I brought my Mom down to Virginia Beach for a girl's beach weekend and we were staying just down the street and I noticed this Spa, called them and was able to set up an appointment for the next day on a very busy holiday weekend. They had a great special for facials and massages and on top of the special price they still gave me their military discount. Saved me a bunch of money to take my Mom out some more! They were super nice, the atmosphere was perfect, calm, quiet, comfy, and CLEAN (that's a big deal for me). It was my Mom's first ever Spa day and she absolutely LOVED the facial, was a little nervous about the massage but said it was very relaxing and pleasant. I intend to take her again this summer when she comes down, don't think I'd take her anywhere else! Definitely recommend it to anyone down in the Va Beach area, I'd go there more often if I didn't live in Norfolk. The prices and specials are always good.

OOOOOMMMMMGGGGG! Amazing! My family and I are here for a few days and I wanted to step away from my mommy/wife duties (though I love it but we need a break sometimes) and just sit back and be pampered. From calling to make an appointment at the last minute the receptionist fit me right in. The nail technician Tammy was amazing on my pedicure and manicure. Melissa (deep breath) omg did a tremendous job in making sure I was well relaxed. Her techniques in massaging and reflexology is to die for. Let me explain my TWO star rating. My husband surprised me that morning with a wonderful spa day here at salon@31st. I had an appointment for 10:30am and arrived 15 minutes before as requested for paperwork as I am then told I should be done by 3 with lunch included. I’m taken to the back waiting room and eventually get taken back for my 2 hour prenatal massage around 10:50, no big deal. The massage was nothing less than phenomenal! I fell asleep 3 times without even noticing. After the massage, I went on to a facial maybe about 90 mins total. The facial as well was amazing and cannot complain not one bit! Following that was a was, cut, and style. I was greeted by Kelsey, lovely personality until she realized how much hair I had bundled up in a bun. She shampooed and teased me with saying she was going to have to charge me extra because I had so much hair(although it was no tease. She was totally being serious). I have never been charged extra for having more hair than the person before me. I only trimmed my hair and kept my long layers, in the process, she seemed like she was being rushed. Then came the styling. Kelsey blow dried my hair and getting halfway she told me she had another client to tend to so Becca took over. Becca was a bit younger and also friendly but had NO gentle touch. She leaned into my head with the comb with every stroke and stopped at the tangles at the end almost like she wanted them to accumulate. After almost 15 minutes with Becca, Kelsey comes back and grabs another brush and blow drier & continues on the unfinished portion of my hair. At this point, two people are vigorously trying to dry my hair as quickly as possible meanwhile my head is bobbing in all directions. I had asked for the style to end in curls but by the looks on their impatient faces, I just asked for it straight. SHE COULDNT EVEN DO THAT. My hair looks like I straightened it and then walked into a sauna and went about my day. Can you picture that? The only straight part about my hair are barely the ends. The time is 3:15pm. I was supposed to have been done by 3, and didn’t even know where my lunch was. Did I tell you I’m pregnant, so that means I’m STARVING right haha. Kelsey then walked me over to this nicer young lady who was going to be doing my mani/pedi. She asked me if I needed anything and started the pedicure process. She was a little rough and may have cut me but my toes are also very sensitive so I didnt get upset at the situation. I got a foot/leg scrub, hot stone massage & some type of leave in lotioning hell stuff which felt awesome! It’s 4 by this time and I am just now getting my food. The reason behind it being so late was because the restaurant was busy. I ordered a chicken sandwich, it was a 2 inch thick chicken that was about 3 inches wide on a 6 inch cold bun with cold fries. I bit into the sandwich to find myself chugging water to be able to swallow the dry ass chicken. So I requested that they cut my mani/pedi short and just finish the pedi. I got French tips which for some reason was an extra $15? I also got charged to wear their pedicure flip flops. I just left. Time is 4:56pm. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anything other than massage and facials. Edit to add: my husband spent almost $500 for this package. Why would something that costs $500 charge EXTRA for a longer hair cutting process and pedicure sandals?

I came here for my bachelorette party the summer of 2014 (it's been a while since I had the chance to really mull this over) and despite clearly being the bride was separated from the group because they had limited seats. While I understand being separated, they didn't think about the experience at all, and I was completely isolated. They did my toes last so they didn't have time to dry before leaving and I had messed up toenails for my wedding day. I didn't complain, at the time, although I was pretty unhappy, as my bridesmaids were having a great time and I didn't want to cause a fuss, I was asked how old I was and that they were making bets as to whether I was older than 18. I'm sorry, but how mortifying is it to have people betting over your age while knowing that you're getting married (and making obvious assumptions about your marriage in the process). Overall I wouldn't recommend this location. Hopefully the staff is kinder and more considerate to brides in the future. For the record, I was 24.

Yesterday I made the mistake of scheduling a micro exfoliation at this "spa". I entered at a quarter of 4pm and was told to have a seat and I was offered a bottled water in the relaxation center that was quite clean! I filled out paper work and waited patiently for Oxana to greet me. I was told to remove my jewelry but I explained to her that it would be too hard for me to untie my necklaces so she let me undress alone and came back in after I was on the massage table. I was surprised though that the table was not modern nor was it very comfortable but I was so grateful that they fit me in the same day that I did not mind so much. Bear in mind I am used to paying much more and used to going to high end spas in Chicago such as Exhale spa and I would call Salon@31st to be mediocre with high pricing. I let Oxana examine my skin and I thought she knew what she was doing until she started using a metal instrument to do my extractions which was not relaxing but a bit scary to me. In Illinois it is illegal for any spa to include a metal instrument on your face but maybe here in Virginia the laws are different. I was a bit upset when she used that metal tool around my ears and in my ears so I asked her what she was doing and she said I have some black heads there and she wanted to "help" since my skin was dry. She was a bit rough with my ears and when she did extractions on my nose it actually hurt a bit. Finally as she was rushing to fit in as much as she could within the hour I was offered water and told to start getting dressed. As I paid for my service I was offered a $10 coupon for the next day's service if i wrote a review which seemed kind of strange but I guess it's an incentive and tactic this salon uses to get clients to give good reviews. My review may not be what they want to hear but it's the truth. About ten minutes after they shut their doors I went to get some sushi next door and realized my tiny pearl earring was missing from my right ear. It had been bopped out of my ear most likely when Oxana was rigorously working with my ear. I also wish to add I have multiple piercings on my ears and she could have been more gentle but she kept moving quickly and so I realized my earring was gone. I called the salon back and asked if anyone could please come back and help me look for my missing earring. The guy at the sushi restaurant called the owner from his cell phone and she lied and said no one would be cleaning the treatment room that night. I caught then in a huge lie because when I came back this morning to search for my earring they at first would not let me go in with them then they let me look at the trash but it was completely emptied out. One of the managers today told me the trash in all the room are emptied out each evening. Apparently the earring must have been thrown away by accident or perhaps someone found it last night but regardless no one apologized to me; no one reimbursed me and honestly my face just does not have that spa afterglow you expect to see from a job well done. I rate this place fair or mediocre because of the unprofessional way I was treated today while I tried to retrieve my lost earring. If she had not been so hurried and rushed this would not have happened. I expect better treatment, better results and a nicer staff. The place is full of great products that I love but I won't be back it was not worth the shabby treatment and rushed service. I wrote this review out of sadness. I really wanted this to be a treat to myself and instead I ended up losing my favorite pearl earring. Today I spent $50 for a round trip cab fare just so I could buy myself some new earrings to replace what I lost. Honestly if you want to create a good impression you should be more professional and less "harried" or people will not wish to return.

The place is clean and upscale. I had an appointment for a full set of acrylics with a nude ombré French tip style I wanted. I chose this place based on reviews and I figured they would have the expertise to do the design I wanted. First off, I waited more than 20 minutes after I arrived even though I had an appointment. Second, the nail tech made it seem as though she had done this design several times, however she was not confident and ended up having to redo some of my nails a few times. The whole process took over 2 hours, and even though I understand design can take a while, it was clear that the nail tech did not know what she was doing. I live in New York City and I'm used to expensive nail jobs, however, this place charged me an outrageous amount compared to the result I got. Unless you need a simple mani/ pedi- avoid this place!

I paid the extra amount to get the deluxe. My wife paid for the regular and got four more attention and a longer massage. The person who did my feet seemed more interested in finishing than actually doing a good job. Very dissapointed

We walked in the door excited... And within seconds I have to say I was disappointed. I personally do not feel very relaxed when going to a place like this knowing you are going to spend top dollar and not get the service you expect. I worked hard for the money that's paying for the service, and should get what I ask for and you should actually be able to speak and use words, not yanking on my arm etc. The his salon was no different than getting your nails done at any other place where the people do not speak English, push, pull, and point ... But amazingly enough can speak English when you say no I am paying for this, and no I do not want you to pick MY color. The woman that was doing my daughters nails did not say a single word to her, not even hello! This was supposed to be a "child's manicure and pedicure"!? She's 11 and doesn't know what to expect... The woman sure was speaking Korean to the others around her though. Don't waste your money go somewhere else that's cheaper, spend your money on renting a kayak, horseback riding, or a bike rental instead you'll enjoy your time much more.
