Horrid. A different masseuse every time. The front desk personnel are polite but never do anything. They kept billing my after my contract ran out. Run away from this place and go find professionals to deal with. Again , just nasty from beginning to end. Too bad I can't give them no stars.

I love this place because you can customize your massage to whatever you need. Their standard is a full-body massage, but I have a lot of back, neck and shoulder pain so that's where I have them focus. It's also very affordable!

I have been a member now for about 2 years and have always had an excellent experience. The front desk staff is very welcoming and helpful. Over that time I have tried a few different massage therapists and they have all been great in their own ways, but in the last year I've settled on one that is best for my needs and schedule. Christina is very knowledgeable and always willing to address my individual concerns during each visit. The salon itself is always perfectly clean and inviting. My only regret is that I can't afford more than one massage per month!

The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. I had never had a message before but booked a couples massage for our 5 year anniversary. I had no clue it was going to feel that good. I highly recommend taking an hour out of your day and get a message. I can't wait to do it again.

For a facial you have to go to Vanessa- relaxing, gentle, and thorough--never leaves the product on my face when it's over!! And Rachel at the front desk is so kind and helpful. I am so sad to be moving and leaving this ME location :(

AVOID AT ANY COST! DON'T EVER SIGN UP FOR MEMBERSHIP YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CANCEL IT!!! What happened is I tried to cancel my membership since I moved outside the U.S. I called the center in November to cancel my membership. They took my email and said the form will be sent to you shortly. Fill it out and we will cancel it right away. I NEVER RECEIVED the form. I called again in December and I was given the same promise. My girlfriend called them and gave them her email as international calls are expensive, and they promised her the same thing. I called again in mid December and again early in January without receiving anything!!! I gave them FIVE DIFFERENT EMAIL ADDRESSES and I got nothing. They said they can't cancel my membership unless I receive the form via email (no fax). I waisted almost $200 on international calls just calling the center. Today I called and I insisted that I speak to the manager to ensure I receive the form. I waited on line to make sure I receive it and after a couple of minutes she hung up!!! I called again and another lady answered. I asked her to send me the form and I will wait on the phone until I get it. I gave her THE FIFTH EMAIL ADDRESS. Four minutes later, while I'm waiting on the phone, I get an email from them! BUT GUESS WHAT?? It's not the cancellation form. They sent me some random "Earning deduction form" that belongs to one of their employees!!!!!! I called again and told her I didn't get the form and waited for 10 minutes before I got the form. This is unbelievable!! It's so crazy how a "relaxing experience" turned literally into a nightmare!! !!

I received a gift certificate to the Massage Envy in Charlottesville, and enjoyed it so much, that I signed up for a membership. Everyone is very friendly and professional. I have had massages with several different masseuse and enjoy how they all have their own special techniques.

Absolutely terrible. The front desk staff is extremely rude except for Christina. The manager does not care AT ALL if you had a terrible experience. The massage is a hit or miss. One time it might be amazing and the next leave you wondering why you signed up for their membership. Save your money. If I knew this I would pay the extra and go elsewhere.

I was going to be a new customer here. I had called on Saturday and had made an appointment for Monday night. I also had to give my credit card information to make the appointment. When I arrived they had my name and credit information on file but they said that I didn't have any scheduled appointments. This place is a waste of time, don't even bother going or calling.

My mom and I just had very pleasant services yesterday. Both therapists were super sweet and highly experienced. My mom has chronic neck issue for many years and recently started having some lower back pain. While she's visiting us here in Charlottesville, I thought it would be a nice treat to take her with me to Massage Envy since I'm already a member here. I'm so glad I made the decision. She said that was the best massage experience she ever had and the therapist really knew where the problem was without even asking her. She felt so much relaxed and refreshed afterwards! We will definitely come back again!

Website is a mess. Tried several times to schedule massages since my parents bought me gift certificates here. Still cannot connect with anyone and notice that it says the certificate expired 3 months after it was issued, which is illegal. They should be honored for at least three years by law. Don't waste money here for absolutely nothing.

I’ve been in twice now for facials and a few times for massages, and every time since the new management took over has been fantastic. Rachel at the front desk is gregarious, friendly and accommodating, and the entire staff is professional and extreme competent. Definitely recommend coming in!

Read all contract documentation carefully, and don't respond to any staff who just say "it's standard". It's not. After a battle with management, I managed to finally rid myself of their contract even through I had fulfilled my initial year's obligations. I had always been a good client and tipped well. However, not only had the standard of service dropped, but I had found a better practitioner elsewhere more geared to health and wellbeing. Massage Envy is basically worse than any gym in not fulfilling its promises while trying to hook you in contractually regardless. Case in point: When I signed up, after a year I was told I would receive the benefits of membership without being committed to a monthly fee (which went up by $10.) NOT SO. They said, "it's changed now, that's just how it is". Never mind what the staff promise you to join. On wanting to exit, I was harassed by management and told that I should have read all fine print. They even had the gall to tell me "if you were buying a house, you'd read the entire document". I said, "I'm getting healing/relaxation services, I've been a good client for over a year and you're telling me I should compare YOU to a mortgage? She (the manager) became abusive, and stated that I had signed up for a continuing contract that I could not get out of. After threatening legal action with the bank, they finally began to back down. A great end to a "healing" experience? Not on your life. Leave this place to its own devices. And contracts.

DO NOT BE SUCKED INTO THIS MONTHLY MASSAGE BS! I was told I could use the membership at various locations (as I explained I travel extensively in my work and was only in C’Ville for 3 weeks) and now find its nearly impossible to get an appointment where I live! Moreover, I’m told now (contrary to what I was initially lead to believe) that the contract is not Cancellable! So far, I’ve paid for 3 massages that I can’t get because half these franchises are understaffed it staffed with incompetents! These people need to stop lying to clients

She does great massages but is also a great person to chat with. One of my favorite things about getting a massage is talking to her. My friend also has a great therapist. Christina D. is great. She always sends my friend home feeling so much better. I love Massage Envy!!! I definitely recommend it!

Rachel at the front desk was super awesome, she stood up and had a big smile when I walked in the door. She really listened to my needs, and recommended an awesome spa day experience that my mom is gona love! Plus she was super personable, i could tell she had a passion for her job. I was very sick and had to quit my job, I tried to cancel my membership for 3 months now bc I don't have a income coming in and they won't cancel it...ugh! I have had my membership since June with a extra 5 hours my mom was able to add to it (which is how they got me to sign up) I have only used 2 1/2 hours of my time and they still will not cancel it, really?!?! I'm so upset with massage envy! I even recommended them to others...BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! DO NOT GET A CONTRACT WITH THEM!!!!! However the ladies that gave me my massage both times I was there were great but that doesn't help the fact they try to screw people over!

I loved my massage at Massage Envy - the atmosphere was very soothing and the massage table was heated. My massage therapist was great. I also liked the Tranquility Room where you could just relax and drink water. However when I was on my way out one of the people at the front desk was terribly pushy in trying to get me to sign up for a monthly membership - to the point where I felt like she was being rude. I do not usually write negative reviews but felt that people should be aware this may happen. She kept pressuring me to pay for more services even though I said that I would not be able to afford a monthly membership, and then she kept asking, "But don't you like massages? Don't you feel like you benefited from your massage today?" Just an FYI for people thinking of going here - you may have to assert yourself and just say you don't have the $. When someone says no, people should respect that and stop badgering you to spend more money on future services. I was just trying to pay for my massage that day and leave, not get caught up in anything.

The staff is always very professional and courteous, the spa is clean, and the therapists are always responsive and professional. We each have tried several therapists (just to see how they differ in technique) and each one is slightly different in their style, but all are really good. Would recommend.

I'll break this into a few categories of what I look for with a Massage Envy location: Front of house, relaxation room, massage itself. Front of house: The managers of this location are very personable and very good about recommending massage therapists who will best match up with your needs and preferences. I know I like a deep tissue massage and can handle high pressure, and Rachel knew exactly who to recommend. When you arrive, you're offered water or tea, and everyone is very nice and willing to engage in friendly banter. Relaxation room: So I've been to some Massage Envy locations where it's just a room with some chairs in it and isn't particularly quiet. This location has very comfortable couches, a nice salt lamp, and quiet music so you can really just get away from your phone and relax while you wait for your massage. I know it's a small thing, but getting 10-15 minutes to just check out from the world is really nice. I look at my phone enough as it is. Massage itself: I'm a big believer that communication with your massage therapist is absolutely critical to getting the most bang for your buck with your time. Sherry was very good at starting out asking where I was having soreness or pain and areas I wanted to avoid so we could really focus on problem locations. We also discussed level of pressure I thought I would be comfortable with, and it was really nice making sure we were both on the same page. I was only in for an hour session this time, but because of good initial communication, I still got a great massage. Once you're finished with your massage, you're given water and a warm towel, and you don't feel like you're being rushed out. Overall this was a really great experience and I highly recommend this location.

i have been coming to the charlottesville massage envy for several years regularly and steven is the best massage therapist! he makes you feel comfortable, does great tissue massage and i am always relaxed and rejuvenated after my sessions. he’s awesome! i highly recommend him, but the rest of the staff at reception are super nice and attentive too. it’s just a great experience.

Receiving regular self care services like these, helps us relax and reduce the pain and stress we take on being small business owners. The front desk staff are also ways friendly and helpful. After one of my recent visits I experienced and unexpected allergy to a facial product, and the esthetician and staff were very kind and accommodating in helping me get product names and ingredients when I requested them.

wasnt able to get in with my regular therapist yvonne (who is fabulous!!!) so they recommended i see maria. i was pretty hesitant about trying someone new because im very picky about i want, but omg maria was amazing! she was one of the best massages ive ever had. i came in and she asked what i wanted to work on, and i told her im super stressed out and i feel i carry my stress in my neck, shoulders and back. she did such a great job working the heck out of my neck and shoulders, i felt so much better! i cant wait to get in with her again. honestly, i love how they make me feel from the moment i walk in! they make me feel so special, they know my name, they ask how my daughter is, they genuinely care about making this the best experience that they can-- for me! i would recommend them to all my friends and family!!!

This place SUCKS! They are conniving thieves. My membership ended last month, and they didn't tell me until yesterday that I only had 4 more days to use my 5 hours of massages or I lose them. I attempted to make an appt and they tell me they don't have any available the next 4 days and I talked to several managers and they told me there is nothing they can do.

Generally, I like the professional atmosphere a Massage Envys. My visit to this location was disappointing. The therapist was late and the massage didn't start until nearly 10 minutes after the appointment was supposed to start, despite the fact that I arrived 30 minutes early. Also, my booking was incomplete. I requested a 90 minute massage and a facial online. This was confirmed by telephone later. Instead, I received a 60 minute massage, despite bringing it up to the therapist. The massage was also tepid, even though I'd asked the therapist for more pressure and stated that preference prior to the massage. I was grateful that the service was comped by the manager, who was nothing but apologetic for the mix up, but it was still frustrating. I'd spent 12 hours on planes over the weekend and was looking forward to this opportunity to unwind.

I expected to just get the massage and leave but I was blown away at the hospitality of the receptionists and staff and their undivided attention to my needs. The massage itself was great! This place is the absolute worse! From difficulty booking your favorite therapist to cancellations within an hour of your appointment. I've been a member for over a year, and I have so many hours built up because I can't book with my therapist. I've tried other therapist there, but the quality of the therapist isn't worth the money spent. And I have had them call me more than once to cancel my session within an hour of my appointment. With no other solution...but sorry, no other openings. If you value your time, I would try to find another location. because ME doesn't value your time.

I had a wretched experience with Massage Envy. One of the massage therapists stopped the massage to yell at me for not saying please when I politely asked her to adjust the face cradle. I was extremely upset, stopped the massage and went to speak to the manager. She was apologetic, but not as much as I would have expected after such an awful experience. I asked to be released from my contract and reimbursed for my remaining 8 credits. The manager said the best they could do was 3. I took it because I just wanted to be done with them. They continued to charge me for two months because no one took my information out of the system, although I was reimbursed for those charges. Steer clear, never sign any contracts. There are plenty of amazing places to get a massage in Charlottesville.

I really enjoy coming to Massage Envy! The relaxation session begins, for me, once the staff greets me at the door. They are all so kind and helpful and really begin my experience while i am there. I have gone to several of the therapists and they all have really paid particular attention to my body's needs. They are so professional and knowledgeable and really put me at ease. And to top off my experience, Rachel is always waiting for me as i exit. She is soooo sweet and witty and always smiling. She's the perfect ending to my complete experience of unwinding.
