Couples Massage 3/18/19 Groupon: After reading all the reviews to this place, I went in very skeptical—but still looking forward to a massage. On google reviews, Live Health Center receives numerous mixed reviews between a perfect 5-star rating to a "I wish I could give 0 stars". My first massage was on a luxury cruise ship. My second massage was at a 5-star resort, 5-star spa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. This massage was my third massage. I had an appointment 2 weeks before my actual massage date but had to cancel last second in the spa. I walked in and apologized for the short notice and asked if it were at all possible to reschedule. The woman at the desk went back to find someone else, and the second woman assured me that it was no issue at all and worked with me to find a new date and time. I was looking through my calendar slightly surprised and a little flustered trying to find a new date. She then offered the option for me to call back later to reschedule. There were no fees and no issues at all. The outside of the building is not appealing, as it sits on a bustling street in Old Town. Two-hour parking is available on the street and I did not have an issue either time I went. The staff are nice, but do not speak much English. There is no generic sheet to fill out before your massage about problem area, level of intensity, places to avoid, etc. Going back to the room, it was nice, with low light levels and music in the background. Keep in mind, you are not at some multi-million-dollar resort or chain. So yes, they played their music on what was most likely a CD player whose recording does not last an hour, there is about an 8-inch difference between the wall and ceiling, they use cooking aid timers with a beeping alarm, and there is a lack of communication. I never felt like my privacy was invaded from the walls, as they are still 8 feet or so tall. My girlfriend and I felt respected after undressing and then covering ourselves with towels. During the massage, they constantly adjusted the towels to uphold your privacy. I heard the woman asking my girlfriend a few times if what she was doing was okay, and she would say yes. But talking with her after the massage, she said that at some points it became extremely painful for her. I told her that she should have said something, but she did not feel comfortable doing so. I was not talked to a single time other that being told it was time to turn over. As I said before, yes there is a lack of communication. Although my girlfriend felt like the pressure was too strong at some points, I had no complaints with my massage. I loved the intensity I received. I noticed the masseuse found a few knots in my back and calves, where she focused more of her energy. Most importantly, we did not hear any other noises coming from the other rooms. We might have been there at their off hours during our Monday night reservation or the other customers respected the common sense of a low noise level. We were not hassled, verbally abused, directed to a sign, or strongly encouraged to provide a cash tip at the end or as we walked out. My girlfriend and I saw numerous negative reviews regarding this specific issue and it was not even slightly insinuated once. In fact, we were given a discount/membership card for our next couples massage. Right before we left, I decided to offer a tip and it was graciously appreciated. I am happy to give Live Health Center a 5-star rating. However, there are a few things they could approve on. I am sure a few of these 1-star reviews were groupon users who bought their massage half off. Keep in mind, what happens in a massage...so many of those negative reviews should not be take seriously. For the massage itself, I personally had no complaints—I would go back again.

I've never had a massage done. But I've had my eyebrows done by Mahima who works there. I've been coming to get for years at Pentagon fashion center. I'm in Ohio for college so don't get to see her often. BUT when i do come into town, I make sure I see her! When I say she is the best, I'm not joking. She listens, and cares. Love love love love love her! $10 + tip ( tip is required but I highly encourgae, seeing that it's one of the lowest prices in this area)

So, maybe we didn't read somewhere or misunderstood on the website about what type of massage this was? Idk.. It was a very very aggressive, extremely fast paced ( like my body was rocking and being moved violently the whole time) massage. Though the massage felt fine afterwards for the most part. You can hear talking during since the walls are not full and the massage therapist actually kept leaving the massage of my friend to go help people at the front desk :/ wth.. she apologized,but still didn't replace the time she spent outside the room. The place itself is not spa-ish or any type of luxury, more like the run down mall places.

That was the WORST couples massage I've ever had. First of all, the entire place smelled like a sewer. The beds and sheets were uncomfortable and worn. There was no paper to fill out explaining your problem areas or the pressure you wanted. And then actual massage was absolute garbage. She was rough, focused on my rear end ENTIRELY too much and just made me feel uncomfortable and unrelaxed the whole time. Between the roughness, the lack of true privacy, the lack of cleanliness, the smell and them banging closed the doors to the small portable heaters they have in the room, it was just awful. And it was for my husband's birthday! Then, afterward, had the nerve to try and insist that I tip the girls $10 each. And warned me that next time I come, I need to give them $10. Like, WHAT?! Never again.

One of the best places I have gone too, I had been looking for a place to get my eyebrows done around King Street and am so glad I found Opt Eyebrow Threading. The service is amazing and the lady that did my eyebrows was very kind and gentle with me, there was no long wait and the place was very clean. Loved it will definitely be going back!

Don't ever consider coming here. They absolutely have no respect for privacy. I scheduled an appointment for 7:30pm on August 15, 2018. I went there and the massage therapist (her name is Michelle) asked me to go to a room behind the reception desk. I took off my clothes. A minute later, Michelle opened the door and told me to leave because I did not have an appointment. I told her that I called earlier and the manager gave me a 7:30 appointment. But she insisted I was wrong. At first I politely asked her to close the door because I was undressed and people could see me from the outside. Not until I raised my voice that she understood that I was asking for privacy. I was asking to be dressed first before we could talk. She humiliated me and she disregarded my privacy. This is serious violation of business ethics. I talked to the manager on the phone and he apologized, and said that he would talk to Michelle. Then, I called the manager again and he insisted that I was booked for an 8:30pm appointment. What a liar! When I called him earlier that day, he confirmed at least twice that my appointment was for 7:30pm, and he was changing his story now. I was angry and distraught. I had been a customer here for about 2 years, and I was shocked they would treat me this way. I am never gonna set foot ever again on this establishment, and I am going to file a complaint in Better Business Bureau. In summary, this is an establishment that disrespects privacy, does not value repeat customers, and promotes deception. It's manager would lie just to get away with his mistake. UPDATE: I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint: Complaint: I am requesting the business to be penalized for violating customer privacy. In my complaint, I explained that Live Health Center: (1) has serious issues and shortcomings with its customer service, (2) builds on unethical business practices, and (3) promotes deception.

A just okay experience. Rooms are not completely private because the ceiling doesn't go all the way up. We did the couples massage. My husbands was really rough and left some bruising. When we were leaving, I handed her the tip and she stopped me and wanted more. Pointing to a sign they have up with customary tip amounts. Not top of the line but an okay massage for the price paid.

Went for a couples massage, left feeling worse than I went in. The room isn't private, the therapist were rough & rushed through the massage. They don't ask of the stones are too hot, I felt like I got third degree burns. They don't pull your underwear down without warning... overall it's a bad place to go if you're looking for anything relaxing or for a soothing experience. Oh yes, they have a sign telling you what to tip, when I asked for change, they wouldn't give it to me, nor my money back. I was nice enough to tip, due to the conditions, however, I have the right to choose an amount. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THEN TO ANYONE

The worst experience ever. My boyfriend and I did the couples massage. The man was way too rough and the lady who massaged my boyfriend was very invasive. Pulled his underwear completely down, attempted to open his legs wider, and climbed on his back. This is not something I would recommend for couples, or for anyone. Please retrain the staff and help customers walk away without the need to file for sexual harassment .

We went for the couples massage. God Bless their hands! The first time they asked us where we wanted the massage. They use oils, hot stones, music and it was great!. The second time they didn't ask but we still liked it a lot. They don't speak a lot of English, just the necessary, if you say not too hard, or it hurts. :) They massaged all our bodies, including our faces. We really recommend it. We're going back again.

Absolutely phenomenal deep tissue massage and at a very reasonable price. No frills facility, but that does not in any way detract from the experience. Please note that they have moved to a new location at 202 S West St Alexandria VA. There is plenty of on street parking and some pay parking lots nearby. Also very close to King Street metro.

For what you pay, they are good. They didn't ask ahead of time what you area you wanted to have them work on or any background questions but I believe that is because of the language barrier. If you want a deep tissue massage, this may not be the right place for you.

Wouldn’t recommend or come back again. I came here with a groupon couple massage. I don’t expect the most from groupon massages, and I quite frequently enjoy them, so my dissatisfaction is pretty telling. Firstly, we didn’t sign any consent forms, we weren’t asked about problem areas or pressure preferences, etc. This was a red flag for me. The sheets didn’t seem to be clean. The massage itself was maybe a 3. I felt like I paid to have a glorified back oiling. The masseuse focused a bit too much on my butt, and it was uncomfortable at times. However, my boyfriend enjoyed his. The worst part is after leaving we left a cash tip. She looked at it in disgust, and demanded we give more $$$ while pointing to a sign. (Although tasteless) you cannot force anyone to tip you. And then have the nerve to demand a certain amount? NEWSFLASH: tip is at the discretion of the customer! The service was mediocre at best and the audacity to be so unprofessional perturbed me. Choose another groupon! You get what you pay for. PS: I’m now literally itching and can’t wait to get home & shower.

I came here for a couple's massage bought on Groupon. The actual massage was great. But so much about the experience was terrible that I'm never going back. The facility is very unprofessional, with the room for private massages mostly a clear-glass door (very uncomfortable for undressing), in the middle of my massage a male employee OPENED THE DOOR AND WALKED IN to chat with the two ladies who were massaging us- my entire bottom was expose and we were just lying there with the door wide open while he was chatting. Also, the woman giving the massages gossiped and giggled through the entire first half hour of the massage, which made it hard to relax. All-in-all, I was unhappy with this experience.

As I sit here in this establishment I am extraordinarily dissatisfied. I am celebrating Father’s Day for my two dads in my life with a one hour massage as they both work outdoors. When they walked back to their room to proceed I asked multiple women if there was any place near I could eat. Absolutely no one understood me and somehow thought I said I’d like to pay now. I said that will be fine as I rather get that bit over with. The couples massage for my fathers were 110. When proceeding to pay a woman emphasized the importance of tipping by showing me where the tip line was

WORST MASSAGE experience of my life. Possibly Racist. We had to force a greeting upon arrival. I didn't receive any paperwork asking any health info or preference for the service. We were taken to the room without being offered any water or restroom. When we got to the room only one of the tables had a pad to cover the face hole. Which is dirty bc it doesn't seem like they have an interest in changing the linen after each client. The 15-20 min massage I received was rough and all over the place. My feet were hanging out the bottom of the linen because it was the size of a receiving blanket while she was massaging my back and butt chaotically. I stopped the massage and asked when was the oil going to be used. Finally got the oil then my skin started burning from her rubbing so rough. I promptly told her to stop because I couldn't bare the horrible service any longer. When we got dressed and walked to the front the therapist we're there giving us dirty looks like she wanted to fight followed by being waved out the door yelling bye bye because there were new clients on the couch. I personally feel that this happened because of our race because the other couple was white and had water and a little paper to fill out about the massage. Never again! Save your money!

I hate to write this review but I think its important for me to put out my experience here. They are located inside a massage place and the threader works out of a small area in front of the place. I recently moved to the area from Herndon and was looking for a place to get my eyebrows done in Alexandria when I came across this place. I had a girl named Usha do my brows. She asked me how I wanted my eyebrows. I have thick eyebrows with a good shape from my previous threader in Herndon so I really wanted a cleanup and I let her know that. She went to work and even though it was somewhat hurtful, I didn't mind because there is always some discomfort involved with threading. She spent about 9-10 minutes and handed me the mirror. This is where the horror story began. She had thinned out my eyebrows quite a bit and given a very weird shape to my eyebrows. I already had a good shape to begin with but she tried to give her own twist which was not a good one; in fact quite the opposite. The worst part is that I had grown my eyebrows out for about 2 months to make them look thick. I really wanted to let her know what a horrible job she did but there was another person trying to check in for the massage and I did not want to make a scene and scare her away. I did give her a very dissatisfied look, paid and left. After leaving, I thought I should have made a big deal about it but then my eyebrows were already massacred so she could have done nothing at that point to rectify it because there was nothing left to work with. I just don't know why I even tried this new place but we all make mistakes. I will not go back here even if they give me a free threading. I have learnt my lesson.

I don't know the name of the person who serviced my eyebrows, but she did a horrible job of it. I have taken the time to grow out my eyebrows so that it can be shaped appropriately. Mine have always been difficult to work with because my eyebrows are not mirror images of each other. But still, those who are experienced with eyebrow shaping have been able to tame my brows beautifully. She did stop every now and then to hand me the mirror and consult on the thickness as she works on them. When I noticed that she has butchered the left side beyond repair, I politely told her we're done, paid the fee and left. I am now left with two differently shaped eyebrows, with the right brow HIGHER than the left. I look like I'm in a perpetual state of annoyance. Ironic really, since I can't lift my right eyebrow by itself. Unfortunately for me, there isn't enough left of the left brow to try and make it look somewhat congruent. If you're in need of eyebrow shaping and do not know how to do it yourself, DO NOT come here.

Unlike Kelsey M., I had a FABULOUS experience today at the Live Health Center via a Groupon with Judy as my masseuse (sp?). They fit me in at the last minute because my Groupon was about to expire and they are closed next week for Chinese New Year's. I arrived about 20 mins. early but was welcomed immediately. Yes; the door to the treatment room was only partially shaded but, hey, it's a spa. Customers are naked. And workers there see the customers naked. BFD. If you don't like it, don't go to spas. Judy massaged me from my scalp, my eyebrows (a first) and the bridge of my nose (another first) all the way down to my kneecaps, achilles tendons (yet another first) and toes. I have a "sore spot" in my rhomboid major muscle (or at least that's what I think it is!) on the left side of my back and I always know when I get a highly skilled masseuse because it hurts like hell when they try to knead it out. It hurt like hell. She was great; I can't wait to go back.

My wife and I had a couples hot stone massage purchased via Groupon. (Their normal price is similar) Some of the other reviews that note that the rooms partitions are not full walls and that there is a significant language barrier are accurate. However, we found the massages to be some of the best we've had and overall a great experience especially for the price. We would differently go back.

Best bang for your buck place in the area! I know some of you are like me who won't go to a place or watch a movie, or do anything without considering reviews. So here's mine. Go for it! I was reading those same prior reviews saying the place smelled bad, the sheets were tattered, and all this other stuff that made my girlfriend and I almost skip out on our appointment. Thankfully we went with our gut and pulled the trigger on this place and were gratefully rewarded. Unbelievable experience! The therapists were nice, the message was amazing, and the price was extremely reasonable. If I lived in the area Live Health Center would definitely be a frequent visit. Be bold those of you who strongly rely on reviews...try it out!

I've been coming here for massages for about a year and have never had a bad experience. The spa is basic & no frills, which I assume helps to keep the cost down. If you're looking for a posh club, you should go elsewhere, but if you want a great massage - you've found your spot in Alex. Linda has been my favorite therapist so far, but they are all very nice & dedicated to helping you feel better, relaxed or refreshed by the time you leave. The only drawback (sometimes) is that it's hard to get them on the phone & the one time I left a message, I didn't get a call back. All in all - great value for a great massage. Highly recommend.

Do NOT go here. I had a Groupon for a spa package that my husband had booked me. The date had passed but after contacting Groupon they said the money was still good towards another service, to simply book an appointment. They have a contact form on their website but I never got a response so we called to book the appointment & told them about the Groupon. No one was at the front desk when I walked in. It was cold & everyone who working there was wearing sweats, no one looked professional. I was expecting to hear tranquil music & see peaceful lighting but the building was dark & quiet. When someone entered the room she took my papers, confirmed my appointment time, & pointed towards a room behind her & told me to get undressed. No waivers, no explanation. I asked to use the restroom first so she pointed to where that was. When I came back out someone else informed me that they had to call the boss (glad I didn't go get undressed yet!). None of the 3 women seemed to speak much English. They handed me a cell phone on speaker where the "boss" told me that he couldn't honor my Groupon because it expired & said to "call the coupon company." I explained that after contacting them, the money was still good towards another package or service. He refused & said I couldn't use it. He then told me they couldn't honor my appointment time because they had another costumer coming in & didn't have time for a package today (keep in mind, we called to book the appointment & told them about the Groupon). He said they didn't know I wanted a 2 hour appointment (despite booking the appointment) & said I would have to come back another time. TL;DR The staff is unprofessional & difficult to communicate with. The building is dark & cold (not a relaxing atmosphere). No waivers or explanations leads me to believe this is not a legitimate massage place.

Purchased a Groupon for a 60 minute hot stone massage. The pressure was a bit more than Swedish, but much less than deep tissue. The hot stones were only used for a small portion of the massage. Anna was quite good nonetheless and their pricing is very competitive.

The goal was to make a reservation for my fiance and I for a couples massage, as a birthday gift. I called one month in advance after purchasing a Groupon for this service. The manager asked that I call back ~2 weeks prior to schedule the appointment, so I called back 16 days prior to the desired date to schedule the appointment. We show up 25 minutes early for the appointment, no-one is at the front desk. A second couple shows up, then a third couple a few minutes later (you can see where this is going). They **TRIPLE BOOKED** our time slot, then asked us to leave or reschedule. We drove 45 minutes to Alexandria, so we made a point to enjoy our afternoon nonetheless. We will gladly take our service elsewhere - to a more professional & reliable location for a couples massage. Thankfully Groupon was understanding, and refunded the full amount of the voucher. I would place this review on Groupon as well, but only those who have redeemed a voucher for service can post reviews (I can't speak to the quality of the massage, as we never received one).

I've just finished "Threading" my eyebrows, and it was awesome. I had a great experience with Mahima. She was professional, polite and so friendly. I told her that I wanna look Masculine "NOT" Feminine. She made sure to give what I have asked for, and she did such a terrific job. Next time when I come to Virginia, I will visit this place again, definitely :)
