With the good reviews i was excited to try this place, but disappointed...I booked a couples massage not realizing that they were charging more for a package. The massage was not very good almost like they were right out of school. The robe smelled really bad which is concerning when you are wearing it and hoping it is clean. The spa was pretty but for 210$ for two 60 minute sessions I would be expecting a much better massage, and a higher quality of customer service (clean towel, confirming on the phone that I want a package, good massage)

So this place is my gym, salon and now day spa! It is super convenient, but the quality of service is what sets it apart. From Maddie & co at the front desk to Hank the custodian, the team really make you feel comfortable and at home. 1. The gym: it’s got all the facilities you require including a steam room & hair products in the lockers, plus it’s never overly busy which is awesome 2. The spa: amazing, better than kura door & other comparable spas in SLC in my opinion. Hannah is a great massage therapist & does a great job, I’ll be asking for her every time. 3. The salon: I’ve had a bumpy ride with the salon, going from years of box-dyed black hair to level 10 blonde. It took a lot of effort/money/appointments to get to where we are. It’s not totally done, but we’re a lot further than we were. I mentioned that I wasn’t loving my level of progress considering the time and money investment I’d made, and they went out of their way to provide me with a gift card (for any service offered in the whole facility, not just the salon), & 3 months free for myself and my husband at the gym. They didn’t have to do this, and it shows that they’re committed to their clients, in good times and bad! So glad we stumbled on this little sanctuary in SLC!

The very best day spa experience we have had. My husband and I went for our anniversary. Both of our massages were done perfectly the way we asked for them to be. The difference we felt after was nothing short of miraculous! It is a beautiful spa and so relaxing. We will make the 1.5 hour drive to be regular customers.

Five star hair coloring by the lovely Rachel Ann! Rachel is so down to earth and friendly making me feel at ease during my entire session. She never hesitated to make sure as I was as comfortable as I possibly could be in every way (drinks etc) as she went about delivering a wonderful hair color for me. My hair has never felt or looked so good! :)

***Edit. Updating my review. Camille contacted me and refunded me for the hydro. I understand mistakes can happen but I have a lot of respect for a business when they will come back to you and make it right. January 14th is a pretty rough day for me so I usually try and book a spa day or do something for myself. I booked a 60 minute hydro body polish, 90 minute hot stone masssage and 60 minute facial. I was pretty excited, even though last year I booked “The Great Escape” and my mani-pedi was half the time it was supposed to be, I was trying to be optimistic. Both staff doing my services were really nice. However, my body polish was only 45 minutes. The difference between a 30 minute and 60 minute is $45 so it’s quite a bit more. Had I known it would be cut short I would have just done 30 minutes. Mind you, I was not late. I showed up 10 minutes early for my appointment and was taken back for my hydrotherapy at 10:15, and we were done at 11:00. I thought, “Maybe they are adding the last 15 minutes to my massage since it’s a lotion application.” No, I wasn’t taken back until 11:24 for my massage, and then was done 10 minutes early for that also. I tried to not let it ruin my day but it’s pretty frustrating when you go in for a $300+ spa day and are cut short both times. When this happened last year, they gave me 20% off a service which I was appreciate of, but nothing was offered this time. When I asked the receptionist (very nice as well) if she knew why my service was cut short she wasn’t able to tell me why. After last year and this year I just think it’s time to find a new spa. It’s already a rough day for me and then paying that much money and not getting what I paid for is just beyond frustrating.

I live at Gateway and have been going to this salon for a year. The first 3 times everlything was great. The last two times the red in my hair was not acceptable. One time it was brown. The stylist Emily did not have me come in to look at it and told me via phone we would address it next time. The last time the red kept bleeding until I went to another salon to have it fixed. I revieved a text message a week after I went in to show her suggesting I go to another salon. Say what??? I just spoke with the manager and she didn't even ask the stylists' name and didn't seem concerned about my complaint. I certainly would have recommended this salon until this experience. Now I would say stay as far away as possible. I get we are all human and make mistakes but when the mistake costs the client $$ at another salon.... This is unacceptable to me. If you do go to this salon, don't give negative feedback as it won't be well received and any issue you do have won't be taken care of. This really saddens me. Now I have to find another salon that I can't walk to. I wish I had the option to post the text I received from the stylist.

I came here for an on the day massage during my layover in Salt Lake City. I had a one hour relaxation massage and it was wonderful. It started with a foot soak and rub. The masseuse was very professional and very good. From the minute I enquired about availability everyone was friendly and accommodating. I was allowed ample time in the relaxation room and steam room before and after my massage. The environment was very relaxing and very nice. The decor was lovely and the loungers were very comfy. I had an amazing experience at sanctuary day spa and wish I had more layovers in Utah to come back!

This place is amazing! I came here for a haircut and eyebrow wax. Rachel did my hair and she was awesome, she listened to what I wanted and delivered and she was so fun to talk to. Jennifer did my eyebrows and it was honestly the best job anyone has ever done on my eyebrows and the receptionists were so sweet. The environment is so relaxing and the pricing is very reasonable. This is officially the salon I will always go to.

I had a day alone while in SLC and had to entertain myself, careless, on New Years Day. Sanctuary was a short walk from my hotel. Sanctuary had a same day appointment for a much needed pedicure. The lovely quiet atmosphere was a delightful contrast to the wind and chill outside. Abby was pleasant, thorough and professional. It’s not a low dollar, rushed, assembly-line pedi in a bustling shop. It’s a relaxing one hour combination of massage, nail care and foot pampering. The spa is spotlessly clean, the tools are properly sterilized and the staff is courteous and unrushed. Do your feet and soul a favor by arriving early so you can relax and drink tea in the relaxation room before and after. I will say I was jealous of the people getting massages and other treatments and I hope to be back another day for that.

I hate leaving a negative review because the manager was trying to make things right. I had a negative facial experience at the Farmington location and the SLC location offered to give me a 37.5% off discount ($45 off $120 facial) to give it another try. I experienced some of the same problems (bottles empty, with the therapist loudly smacking the bottom to get it out), but what bothered me most was she ended 15 minutes early. I saw the time in her room and said something, but she said laughing, "I never know what time it is." Wondering if her clock was off, I went straight to the locker and got my phone out to check. I even arrived early and was in the spa waiting room dressed in my robe and ready 5 minutes before my appointment, too. The other thing is, I don't enjoy the smell of tobacco, but even more so in my face during a facial. She wasn't smoking of course on the premise, but it was strong on her breath and in her clothes. It was at times nauseating and I found myself tensing up and holding my breath. The therapist herself was delightful, kind, and helpful, but my frustrations are as mentioned. I sat in the spa waiting room on my phone asking a group of people on FB if that was normal as far as the time cut short. I didn't know what to say or how to approach the problem, nor did I want to. 100% of them said no, not ok! Some thought it was the spas way of handling me getting a discount. I decided to gently and kindly say something at checkout, and she said she'd look into it. I still tipped of course, but was frustrated at the lack of concern or for that matter, follow-up. I used to like this salon. I've gone to this particular (SLC) one for the last 7 years, but perhaps it maybe time to try a different place. I think they're still ok, but I think there are better out there.

This is a VERY clean, affordable and excellent salon which is an asset to the neighborhood. We've had nothing but positive experiences here, and the staff are always personable, professional and friendly. Of course, Aveda products are some of the best - and they have the full selection of facial and hair needs. They take appointments and have been very flexible with changes, as well as getting me in last minute for a cut. We will continue to give Sanctuary Spa our business because they're just great people!

My wife and me just both had a haircut here, and it was a miserable experience. My wife asked for a layered haircut with a V-cut at the back and to basically shorten up the gorgeous hairstyle that she already had. It was cut extremely short, no layers to speak of and almost completely flat at the back. It was immediately cut down short, so there was no way to get it fixed after that. For a supposedly experienced hairdresser (they work with experience tiers/levels) we did not see a seasoned expert at work. Needless to say we will not be coming back here.

I had a wonderful experience at the Sanctuary Day Spa! I had no trouble scheduling an appointment with a very friendly front desk lady. I booked a half day spa package that included a prenatal massage, facial and foot treatment. From the moment I got there I felt like I was being pampered. The locker room was very clean and cozy and the relaxation room was just that...relaxing! My massage therapist, Crystal, was so great! Best massage I have had all pregnancy and this was my 5th one! Sarah performed my facial and foot treatment and I was in pure heaven. While I was leaving I got to meet the prenatal massage special, Michelle Bennett, and booked another massage with her. Trust me, a pregnant woman can't have too many massages! I look forward to my next visit to this Spa.

Great service. Arrived early and was able to get some time in their steam room and a nice shower with spa shampoo, conditioner, and soap in the shower stall with no extra cost! The robe and sandals were comfortable. They washed my feet with some rough gel before my treatment. The European Facial was relaxing, quiet, and overall a wonderful experience. I will be coming here again and again!

Did the 90min couples massage and 30min soak with my girlfiend, first time have a non sports massage and going just for more the relaxation part of it. We arrived slightly early at our appointment at 1:30. They took us to the back and showed us where to wait with some trail mix snacks, water and tea. Inside the men's restroom where there was a white board with my name on it. Sadly I couldn't figure out how to lock it and there was no instructions on it or around anyplace to be seen. After switching to a nice comfy robe the provided I met back up with my girlfriend where she was kind enough to tell me how to use the locker, the womens apparently had instructions in the locker and towels and sounded alot nicer then the men's. So went back and locked up my stuff. We started around 1:30 with a feet scrub, went back for the massage and that started around 1:45 (there are multiple digital clocks around the area so this is how I was aware) our massage ended around 2:50. About 20min short. Before the massage I was asked any focus areas which I told her shins and legs in general being on my feet and walking alot everyday. The back portion from my waist to my shoulders was great, but never once touched the front of my thighs or my chest pectoral area (not sure if that's a common thing in massages but felt like to me they should have been got). She did alot of head holding, (applying pressure points or something apparently I learned from my girlfriend after) which I don't think personally did much of anything. We started the soak right after 3:00pm where they brought out two ice waters, 3 TINY (about 3/4 inch square) pieces of cheese cake, a bath bomb and two pieces of grenadeli chocolate squares. We relaxed in the tub until just after 3:30 where we got out to change and head back. Upon arriving back at my locker no buttons worked or would light up or anything so had to go up to the main desk in my robe to get the master key to get it unlocked. Overall it was a very relaxing time with my girlfriend which she enjoyed it very much. But definitely not my favorite massage and if you are looking for particular that wouldnt recommend at all, also didn't like how we were shorted on time during the massage. For over $300 (including the tip) felt like it was over priced for sure.

I had the best massage therapist and the best massage experience I have ever had. Her name was Jessica and she was exceptional. It was a last minute booking and they were so accommodating and friendly. She asked about my problem areas and suggested stretches that I could do at home to alleviate some of the pains I was having. She knew exactly what she was doing while I was getting the massage. It is very refreshing to work with someone who has truly studied her trade and know the techniques. I'm super disappointed in our experience tonight!! First of all I work in the industry as an esthi so I have had my fair share of massages and tonight both me and my husband had the worst massages we have ever had!! First of all let me start with saying we have e been to sanctuary plenty of times in south towne mall and have loved it. Our last time we did a 90min couples massage and it was AMAZING. They brought out a whole plate of snacks for the tub soak this including strawberries pretzels cheese and some sort of pastry and a warmed up pot of chocolate to dip them all in. I felt the $260 was very well spent. I have always had good experiences so I didnt hesitate going to gateway when they were booked at south towne. Our massages were at 6:30 and we arrived over 30min early to just relax. First of all the feet soak the girl barley rubbed the exfoliant on my feet didnt even touch the bottom of my feet with it and the water was barley even warm!! Then we go in the room and the table warmers were turned up so high and so hot it was uncomfortable to lay there and not to mention they took almost 10 minutes to come in to start once they told us to lay down. We both said we wanted our backs, shoulders, and necks focused mainly. Once they started massaging I kept thinking this can't be it she is just doing her opening .... still thinking it.. ooook it looks like this it is. It felt like she was gently tickling me the whole time she would start to put pressure and then let up before she even finished the stroke. The best way to describe this was it feeling like a wet noodle on your back.it was AWEFUL!! She spent maybe 10minutes on my back and the rest on my legs and arms doing the same movements. Then I turn over and she doesnt even rub my neck NOT ONCE the whole massage instead she did this head stretch at least 7 times the exact same one that wasnt even stretching she just held my head in her hands and no it wasnt cranial which again I am familiar with there was no point to what she was doing besides wasting my minutes. She put the hot towels on my feet and left them for so long my feet were frozen and wet by the Time she took them off. She drenched me in lotion/oil whatever it was to where I felt like a wet slip n slide!!! So then she tells me she is done and I look at the clock it was 7:48pm.... so after starting over 10minutes late then jipping 12 minutes that's over 20 minutes if not more by the time they actually started of our 90 minute massage!! So THEN they start filling up the tub tell us they will be back and say we have 30minutes to soak and then need to be out. So did I say how excited we were for the snack and to soak because of our past experience?? I thought well at least this will make up for it... NOT!!! They brought out 2 waters and 2 TINY TINY pieces of fudge... THAT WAS IT!!!! The water was scalding hot in the tub it took us over 10minites to get it to cool down before we could even get in!!! We never saw our therapists after they brought the 2 TINY snacks in again they vanished so we walked ourselves out. Told the font desk how disappointed we were she assured us 1 had been there for 5 years and the other 12 years....?? Not buying it at all. She gave us a 20% off to use there but I honestly dont have any desire to go back. We got ripped off $260 ..well over $300 by the time we tipped cause yes I still gave a 20% tip . My husband said his massage was the exact same!! The facility is beautiful and super nice but the experience with our therapist ruined it for us!!

What a wonderful and relaxing experience! I live in Idaho and absolutely love coming to the Sanctuary in downtown Salt Lake City to pamper myself. The facility itself is amazing, it is clean and I love the atmosphere. It was so nice to come out of my massage and have the opportunity to use the steam room and nice, clean showers. I felt like a new person when I left! I would highly recommend checking them out.

I made a very last minute appointment at SDS in December 30, 2017. My husband and I had relaxation massages and they were wonderful. Our therapists were excellent at asking us what pressure we enjoyed and emphasized that we should not hesitate to share when the pressure is too much or too little. The space was perfectly serene and meditative. The spaces were very clean and the bathrooms had a steam room that I enjoyed for some time. The staff is friendly and communicates well. I have been to high end spas abroad and in the US at resports and SDS is on par with the best. Also, they use Aveda products at the salon and they will utilize all organic products. Great place!

Have to say, if you're a PERSON OF COLOR you will feel UNCOMFORTABLE here so best to move on. I've been a loyal customer of 2+ years and I do not recommend this salon but I do recommend Amanda for her talent and her persona when with a client. As far as customer loyalty- next to none even for long time clients like me. I try calling to rescheduling because I'm sick and they told me-even after me agreeing to pay the no show fee- that that's the last time they can take my phone call for a future appointment and I have to walk in from now on. Funny because the mall is dying, clientele is dwindling but I guess they are too good for me.

Terrible customer service. My wife scheduled a women's haircut (listed as $35 on the website), got a haircut that she HATED, and was charged about $60. When she called back to ask if they could re-do her hair because she was miserable they said it would be $20 to fix it, unless she went back to the same person that screwed it up in the first place (who it turns out is the barber, not a stylist). Why did they schedule her with the barber in the first place? Why would they charge more to fix their mistake? Why was she charged almost double the price that is listed on the website?!? so many questions. In any case, she opted to pay full price elsewhere to have her hair fixed and is much happier for it. such a bummer since the location was really convenient for us
