I’ve been going to Akela Spa for years and I’ve never had a bad experience. The staff is very professional. The place is very clean and relaxing. Prices are reasonable. I usually go for the same lavender sage deep tissue massage and leave feeling like a brand new woman! I highly recommend Akela Spa and Karen. She is wonderful and very attentive!

The spa itself has a great atmosphere leaving you feel relaxed. I love that you get the robe and sandals during your visit. My husband loved his deep tissue massage from his guy BUT my experience was not worth $120. I did not feel I got my monies worth for a deep tissue and I specifically told Karen not to rub my legs prior to the massage. During the massage she felt I needed it and without asking she did it anyways. As a result my neck got left out and thats what i needed the most. Karen is a sweet sweet lady and strives to please but she seems to lose focus on what the client wants and specifically asks for. I did not get a deep tissue massage. Im giving the overall experience a 4 star but my massage was a 2 star.

Nothing is better than a massage! A good massage! Understandly nothing is worse than a bad one! Therefore, I was living my best life, and received one of the best massages of my life from Karen! At one point I said “Karen, you are good at what you do!” We all need confirmation, and she deserved to know how great she was! I am planning my next trip there! I love this spa! One of the nicest things we have in the Wyoming, South Dakota region for pampering! I have only received great services here. (But Karen is my favorite) :)))) #yourockkaren

Wonderful experiences both times I have been here! Every treatment I have gotten here is top notch. Relaxing atmosphere. My only wish is that they carried more plus sized robes. They never have one avaliable when I arrive so I end up fighting a smaller one- but such a minor detail when all is said and done!

Best Spa i have ever been to! Joanne was wonderful to have for my massage! Everything from the friendly staff to the locker rooms, to the massage! I will be coming to this place anytime im near Deadwood!

Scheduled a duets massage online for my partner and I's anniversary. We had planned our entire day around having this appointment. I scheduled it online as a duets massage with a few add one. When I got there with my boyfriend I was told that I had booked the duet room but only had booked one massage. I feel very misled by the website as I put my credit card info in for the price of a duets massage, which is described as a massage for two on the website. The woman at the front desk did not offer any sort of way to fix the problem other than continuing with the one massage. I then got an email saying my massage was booked for 5pm that day, which is NOT what I wanted at all considering I have other plans. I tried calling and have left two messages to no reply. I feel mislead and kind of disregarded, as no attept to make it right happened, even though I scheduled my entire weekend around having to get to Deadwood in the morning for this massage. Very disappointed.

Dana at Akela did an excellent job creating a style for my hair. I went from having all one length to halfmoon bangs and I couldn't be happier with the results. The entire staff was so helpful and friendly. I will definitely be returning for a trim in a couple of weeks. Many thanks Akela &Dana! Brita cut my hair and extensions for my wedding and they turned out perfect! She also gave me a facial for sensitive skin and I received so many compliments! Akela is the best!

What a wonderful place! Sidney greeted me as I came and made me feel very comfortable. I enjoyed the Akela Garden, sat in the hot tub, then the infrared sauna. It's the absolutely best thing in the world. I enjoyed a 90 minute massage by Karen - who was fantastic! I can't wait to go back!

Worst customer service I've ever experienced at a spa. We were there for a bachelorette party for an all day spa day. We were greeted with them stating we're late when we were over an hour early. They then still treated us horribly and the entire experience was NOT fun. We ended up staying for a few minutes AFTER we changed into our robes, and walked out. Never ever go here.

I have been going to Akela Spa since they opened and always enjoy the experience but have never gotten around to writing about it. I just got home after an incredible massage (thank you Joanne!!), and am motivated to share what a great place it is. I have also enjoyed their manicures & pedicures, and two years ago I had makeup lessons before my daughter’s wedding. I learned so much and found it so easy that I continue to use several of the techniques and products they recommended. I’m really happy to have such a great spa near me!
