Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Lower King by a short 2 minute walk down Queen is an unassuming door with a sign marking the Salt Spa. From the moment Ashley opens the door to greet you with a smile, it becomes apparent that your comfort is her first priority. As a man in his 30s, I am by no means a spa expert. I've been to a couple with my girlfriend for the obligatory couples spa day, but everything always felt so uptight and pretentious. I felt like I could feel the eyes roll when I didn't know what to do or where to go next. Not the case with the Salt Spa. Ashley led me through each step of my experience without judgment or any hint of frustration. She made me feel comfortable and welcome throughout the entire process. I highly recommend doing the Migun and Salt Sauna treatments in addition to a massage. I have had several massages in a physical therapy setting and this was by far the best one I have ever received. I left the spa feeling relaxed, but also refreshed, energized, and free of some nagging pains in my neck and feet. I've already booked my next appointment.

I LOVE going to this place. Ashley is a fantastic massage therapist- intuitive, knows anatomy, gives me the pressure I need, and the environment is so soothing. This is my go-to retreat in downtown Charleston- clean, beautiful, soothing, calming. I also use the MIgun massage bed when I go to further untangle my knots.

Im giving this place and the people a 5 out of 5, but the massage service itself was like a 5 or 6 on a scale of 1-10. It wasn’t the best. I had told Jo that I wanted kind of medium pressure and it was too hard. I should have said something. We were asked if each of us had any focus areas and I had said that my shoulders were a focus area. I didn’t understand that that would mean the majority of my massage would be on my back and shoulders. I was face down so long that my face and eyes were swollen when I got off the table. Also, my masseuse “massaged” my face which I was NOT a fan of. I should have spoken up but honestly I had no idea what was happening. I have NEVER had a masseuse touch my face. I do not like people putting their hands on my face, especially after having oil on her hands massaging the rest of my body. Her hands were very close to my eyes and all I could think about was how she was likely getting my eye make up all over my face. Also she “massaged” my forehead and even put her fingers in my ears! All I could think about was the make up on my face now being smeared everywhere. Again, have never experienced that but was a bit grossed out. I say all of this for anyone else getting a massage because if that’s not “your thing” just as it is not mine either, now maybe you have some knowledge so you can say something. My friend as I booked a couples massage b/c we just wanted to be together to get a massage. I instantly loved the place b/c of the decor and just the vibe of the place. Very clean (I’m a germaphobe so it takes a lot for me to say that!) and inviting atmosphere. The place was really nice and the employees were very friendly and knowledgeable which is why I gave it a 5. I would possibly go again, only after knowing these expectations so that I could speak my needs that I would NOT like these things done during the massage

I play a lot of sports so I was very much in need of a massage. Ashley did an amazing job and I highly recommend her. She was very attentive and made sure I was comfortable. I felt rejuvenated after. The rooms are really peaceful and relaxing. I got to check out the migun massage table and the salt sauna too. Very relaxing! I will be back for another massage and a facial soon.

Wow, what can I say? It was awesome! Purchased 90 minute couples massage/facial and we loved it. The atmosphere is relaxing and calming. Location good with parking. I would love to go back again.

This was THE BEST couples massage we’ve ever had. Me and my husband are still dreaming about it! We have been to several spas downtown and this is the first time we both really enjoyed it (he likes deep tissue and I go more for relaxation). we walked out of that place feeling like a new person. we definitely will be back!! Excellent Massage and very nice space as well. Ashley did a great job, she is strong but has a relaxing method with her massages. The space is in a historic house that has been nicely renovated with a large yoga studio and a few rooms for treatment. I will be booking again!

I purchased a couples massage for myself and a friend and it was an awesome experience! Each therapist talked to us asking if we had problem areas, how much pressure etc. We purchased the salt scrub for your feet as well and I'm so glad we did! It was amazing!! All the staff were very friendly and it was a great price for the services. I will definitely be going back!

I was visiting Charleston, and walked so much, my body was aching everywhere, so I wanted to get a deep tissue massage. I found this charming house just a 15 min walk from the Airbnb I was staying at. The massage Ashley gave me was exactly what I needed and the whole experience was so relaxing. Ashley and the salt spa were awesome! I was visiting from out of town and was pleased to find a spa conveniently located near my hotel downtown. I am in the service industry and have a lot of pain in my back, feet and neck from long hours on my feet and lifting things constantly. Ashley greeted me with a smile and provided me water as she started me on the migun table. The table was great and got me ready for the salt sauna which I highly recommend everyone try! Ashley's massage was wonderful and relaxing as all my aching pains were relieved. My next trip to Charleston will definitely include another spa treatment at The Salt Spa!
