Wonderful and relaxing ambiance- lovely energy and amazing massage by Angie! Michael-Aaron has put such love and creativity into the space. My picky New Yorker husband and I truly enjoyed and will be back on our next visit!

Michael Aaron is the only person I trust with my hair. He's professional, incredibly talented, and takes the time to make sure everything is perfect before sending you out the door. If you're on Block Island, there's nowhere better than Clayhead to get your salon and spa needs met!

My husband and I recently visited Block Island for the first time. We visited Clayhead Spa and Salon for massages, and I also had a facial. Where do I begin? This was hands down one of the best spa experiences I have ever had! From the moment we walked in I was impressed. The decor is warm, beautiful and inviting. The staff - Michael (owner) Lindsey and Lizzie were professional, experienced and gave off an amazing energy. I could have hung out there all day. Lizzie did my massage and facial. I highly recommend her for both services. She is a natural and I could tell she really put effort in to making my experience a memorable one. Thank you, Lizzie! My husband had Lindsey for his sport massage and was raving about her the whole way home. This is no ordinary spa..its a special place. If and when we return, one of our first stops will be Clayhead Salon and Spa. You guys are the best!!

My fiance and I planned an elopement on the beach on Block Island in June. The day of the wedding, my hair and makeup appointment was cancelled by the other salon on the island due to unforeseen circumstances. I was in a panic and in tears! I called Clayhead Salon hoping they could at least fit me in for a up-do styling. When they heard it was my wedding day, they made sure that I had an appointment and rearranged their booked afternoon schedule for me. Michael-Aaron, thank you for saving my wedding day! I can't thank you enough for styling my hair so beautifully. You took the time to make it perfect and I loved your suggestions for making my ideas even better. Thank you again for giving me eye shadow and lip color so that I could do a simple application. I had the most fun and enjoyable conversation with you. I highly recommend Clayhead Salon for all of your bridal services on Block Island. Kim M

So, I initially was seeking a hairstylist on Block Island to do an updo for me for a wedding I was attending over the weekend. There was only a limited number of salons and stylists since the island is so small. I came across Clayhead Spa and a few others but ultimately choose to contact Clayhead due to the great reviews online. There were 9 weddings on the island that weekend and it worked out that since I was going early, I was lucky to get an appointment with Michael on Friday, at this point abandoning the idea of an updo. (No stylists were available on Saturday as they were all doing work for the weddings.) At this point, I was going for broke-cut and color, I would worry about the frizz tomorrow. The spa is beautiful and I cannot even begin to describe the view from the chair. Michael introduced himself and I was immediately putty, I gave him carte blanche…..do what you think is going to make me look like me look my best. And he did not disappoint!! I got a great cut and the color is amazing, I got a ton of compliments when I got to wedding and especially when I got home. The cut is versatile and so easy to manage. I am typically completely inept when it comes to styling my own hair, but this I can do easily (in spite of the fact that I told Michael I was going to kidnap him and have him do my hair every day.) You know that just out of the salon feeling, girls, I was walking down Water Street like a celebrity. And then there was Michael’s French bulldog, Dorothy Pickles, who hangs around the salon. She was the cutest damn dog (and I am a cat person), maybe it was because she was so small and cuddly and definitely loved sitting on your lap. She sat with me the whole time my color was processing; it was like pet therapy. I thoroughly recommend seeking Michael out whenever you are on Block Island. And in the winter, he heads to NYC and lucky for me, I live in CT, so I will be making the trips down to see him there. P.S. Since Michael also did an extra process of glazing my hair following the color, the frizz never came!!

A must when visiting Block Island! We always stop for services on our visits. Michael is absolutely amazing and always makes me feel so welcomed. If you want a good massage ask for Lindsay, who gave one of the best massages I’ve probably ever received. The views are breathtaking and relaxing when getting a mani/pedi. The decor is inviting and relaxing and you can never go wrong with Aveda products. My daughter had her very first manicure here when we last visited and Stephanie was go great and patient with her. The best part is Dorthy-Pickles who is a show stopped probably the best dressed pup on block island!! I can’t say enough great things about Clayhead! You’re missing out if you don’t stop in.

Do yourself a favor and make an appointment at Clayhead during your stay on Block Island! The services and ambiance are WONDERFUL! Michael-Aaron and his staff are so welcoming that you instantly feel relaxed the second you walk into this gorgeously serene island oasis! I've enjoyed mani/pedis and my husband recently had a massage. They are located on the 2nd floor overlooking Old Harbor with beautiful windows that allow lots of natural light. In fact, if you opt for a mani/pedi, you will enjoy harbor views while you're getting pampered! It's so nice to have a "zen" place to come to after all the hustle & bustle of packing/traveling! It is always on my "to do" list when visiting BI and it absolutely positively should be on yours!!

We work very hard to bring you the best services possible here at Clayhead Salon & Spa. It is my lifes mission to make sure all of our patrons feel better , beautiful, uplifted and cared for with every experience , from eyebrow waxing to rehabilitative massage. i am writing a post to make sure the public knows that we have a review on here that is not for our establishment. the person claiming to have booked a trial with us, never booked a trial with us or reserved a wedding date because we did not have the date available to begin with, AND we do not ever book weddings or trials through the front desk, only through email. When she arrived for her "trial" I was so sympathetic and I was even thinking about calling team members in Boston to help her out on her wedding day, but she decided to take what she thought was her moment to make a point and walked out while mumbling obscenities under her breath. turns out she never booked with us BUT she wrote a bad review that cast a negative light on my business and google has not helped me remove it. thank you Michael-Aaron

I chose Clay-head Salon to do hair and makeup for my wedding at the Spring House Hotel for my May 20th wedding, and they were absolutely amazing! When I first spoke with Michael-Aron I described my dress and how I thought I might want my hair. When we met in person he talked me into a more vintage inspired hair style and it turned out to be amazing. He also told me which hair extensions to buy, they matched my hair perfectly and I am still using them today. His makeup artist Sena used the best high-end products and was very talented. I had tan lines and my dress was strapless, she was able to do airbrushing that completely covered it up. I loved the way I looked on my wedding day, and would definitely recommend this salon for bridal services!

Michael-Aaron is an artist! I asked him for help with my hair four years ago during one especially hot and humid summer and have continued to visit his salon multiple times a year ever since. The salon and spa's decor complements the peaceful island vibe and is exquisitely beautiful. Michael-Aaron's talents, as well as those of his wonderfully skilled staff, make Clayhead Salon & Spa a must-have experience that is well worth the trip from the mainland!

Stay away from this place!! We called over 4 times to confirm an appointment. Never got calls back, but were assured we had a time booked and when we showed up we were told we were not on the schedule and that we couldn't be accommodated. Mind you this was an appointment for a wedding consult so to be blown off was kind of shocking. Not only that but the owner didn't even apologize nor did they offer to make alternative arrangements. Please save yourself some time and never ever use this salon.

The receptionist was welcoming, as was Dorothy who chilled on the couch with me while I waited. Lindsey gave a great massage and I am grateful! Will definitely make this a stop everytime I go to the Block!

I love Clayhead! I have been going to see Michael Aaron since I worked on island in 2009. Let me say, he's an artist. He's got the rare gift of listening to what you want while using his creativity and expertise to execute it in a way that looks fantastic and inspires confidence. We have done a pixie, a bob and now we're trying it grown out. His eye for color is uncanny (no one can even tell I've had highlights) and every time I walk out of an appointment I feel like he's helped me find my authentic expression. The space is also gorgeous with great natural light and a relaxed feel but MA is what makes it special.

Had the BEST experience at the Clayhead Spa that I came back the second day for more! I booked a massage for my daughter and a facial for myself with Lizzie who BTW is AMAZING (she does massages and facials and is equally amazing at both!!) After an hour of total bliss and relaxation, my daughter and I compared notes and thought "hey we should come back again", like the very next day! So we did! And the next day, I got a WONDERFUL massage and my daughter an amazing facial. The atmosphere: Wonderfully relaxing, zen like, buddhas, cool decor, and a very relaxing vibe, I honestly could have spent my entire time in Block Island there. Michael is the BEST, friendly, accommodating and very customer oriented. Not to mention that Dorothy Pickles is like the sweetest dog in the entire universe (resident Spa dog!). I travel to BI every year and every year we look forward to our time at the Clayhead Spa. I am only sad that I have to wait another year for my next visit! Keep up the great work!

I am always so excited and Love to see Michael and his staff at Clayhead Salon and Spa. He gave me the best haircut that truly fits my face and I am thoroughly enjoying it!!! I am coming back to see again soon. Michael is very creative and I appreciate the small details that show the upmost service to the customer.

Wonderful view...I was hoping for a comfortable chair but sat on a bench with a wooden footrest..i did not like the metal basin to soak my feet.. The manicurist was excellent..the products were fine ..so I gave it a two..I also feel that given that there is,a sister salon in nyc..the furnishings were old and broken down..not impressive ...also..the music was not soothing and a dog in a salon was surprising..in response to the owner who texted me multiple times on my personal phone and called me a troll..very rude and unprofessional..i have been working in the hospitality industry for over 30 years..he requested multiple times that I remove my reviews..not doing it..i think it is called harassment..

I LOVE IT HERE. I absolutely love the decor as it is so zen and gives off great vibes. The views are amazing and it has the best view of the beach on the island. I come here every year and refuse to get my hair cut unless it's here. I have had people stop me in the street to ask where I get my hair done. The people here are also super friendly and I love to talk to them. I also am in love with the adorable dog that is so calm and cute. I think that anyone who disagrees is crazy and dosnt know what they are talking about.
