I'm a huge Aveda fan and I'm really trying to like this salon. This is my third visit and they have screwed up my appointment 2 out of the 3 times. If you book an appointment, please do yourself a favor and make triple sure you double check the day and time. The first time they had me on the wing day and week completely, despite me having it written on an appointment card. This time they told me a tie and I got here and it's now 1/2 hour later. Just frustrating!

Great location in the 5th Street Market, but parking can be difficult sometimes. They have a nice little waiting area and always offer hot tea or water while you wait. The staff here are professional and courteous and I highly recommend Skylar for waxing!

I love Gervais. After going through multiple different stylists around town that didn't provide a consistent quality hair cut, I found Kelly at Gervais through a friend. Kelly is fantastic at creating a cut that works for me and my hair and face. If you're not sure what you want, she offers suggestions and can create something that will make you look great. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist, and I love the Aveda products she uses at Gervais as well as the clean and soothing environment in the new salon. It's very relaxing and you leave feeling pampered and beautiful.

My husband and I had a couples essential massage, we were able to use the sauna and showers before hand. The facility was very clean and relaxing. Our massage therapists were kind and talented. We were also able to enjoy a foot soak and relax time the waiting area before we checked out! Thank you!

I was blown away with the professional service at Gervais! As a first time customer AND someone who has never had their hair dyed at a salon before, I really didn't know what to expect. The staff were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and my personal stylist Amanda was AMAZING! I gave her a very vague description of what I had in mind, and she gave my hair beautiful highlights that fade into a soft blonde at the ends. I was beyond excited!! The whole process was super relaxing with hot tea and a hand massage. I will definitely be returning, and I highly recommend Amanda!

I love Gervais! I have gone for several years for hair and massage services. Kayla is the best colorist! She is very sweet, friendly, an attentive listener, and very talented! I haven't found anyone who compares! I have also received several massages at Gervais. It is a little more expensive than some places in Eugene, but well worth it if you want to treat yourself. They pamper you with tea, chocolate, essential oils and a great massage, and either a hot shower or foot soak in the end.

I've been visiting Gervais since I was in high school and I've always had an amazing experience. But today I had an amazing experience I just HAD to share. I got a horrible, terrible, just no good haircut at a different salon. In short, I looked like a Justin Bieber wannabe. Ten minutes after I walked out of there, I walked into Gervais, hoping hoping HOPING I could get someone to fix my hair. Sure enough, there was: an apprentice named Cedar did a fantastic-amazing-spectacular job cutting my hair. She's only an apprentice, but she was more confident, more fun, and more interested in giving me an amazing experience than the stylist who made me look like Justin Bieber! I walked out feeling like a million bucks, far from tears, and overjoyed with my haircut. It was amazing, Cedar was amazing, and the entire staff was amazing, just for understanding my frantic anxiety over the horrible haircut abomination that had occurred! I am forever a Gervais customer. There is a reason they charge more -- it's not for the ambiance, or the fanciness, or the hotel, or just because they can get away with it. They just hire better people. They train their stylists better. They provide an amazing experience for every customer. I cannot stress this enough: don't go anywhere else. Save up the extra money and just go to Gervais!

Ariel does the best blonde in town! I am a naturally dark brunette and she has managed to create a natural and flattering blonde on me. The salon itself is in a beautiful location at Fifth Street Public Market and the Aveda products they use are high quality. I recommend Ariel and the salon to everyone I know!

When I travel, I always try to book myself a spa service somewhere fancy because who doesn't like to feel like a million bucks when they travel? Gervais was the place to do it! I was staying at the Inn at the 5th and the spa is actually connected to the hotel. I had the body glow scrub scheduled for one evening, but that afternoon, my friend and I went for a bike ride, so I really wanted a massage after we returned. They were able to schedule a massage for me before my scheduled body treatment with Sue. As I said, I try to go to a spa whenever I travel and I frequent a spa near me regularly. Sue gave me one of the best massages I have ever had. Since I was a new client, she went through all of the prerequisite questions about pressure and pain and she gave me a full body massage while concentrating on my back without making it feel like she was rushing through the rest of it. Rain did my scrub afterward and she was amazing. She made sure that my relaxation continued from the massage through my treatment with her, and through the relaxing rainfall shower after. Overall, perfect spa experience for my trip to Eugene!

Obviously, you no longer have anyone available to answer your phones?? That's tacky, something I would expect from a low-end salon!

I went to them for all of my wedding services mani/pedi, waxings, and hair for myself and all of my bridesmaids. I was extremely disappointed in several things. They rescheduled one bridesmaid with a different stylist 3 times and that bridesmaid ended up with an aprentice and they never even told me, even though they charged me full price. They were 20minutes late starting pedicures and didn't even apologize or notify us, just left us waiting. One bridemaids hair went 1.5hr longer than it was supposed to because it was terrible and she had to be left at the salon so that I as the bride did not miss my pictures. When I called after the fact to discuss (didn't even want anything, just wanted to inform them) I got a very condescending - well I'm sorry you feel that way. I went to them because I thought they were the best and $1,500.00 later I will never return.

I have been getting my hair colored and cut here for over a year, and up till today just loved it. Today, however, my stylist was a little late getting started on my hair because she was talking to someone else's customer- who already was getting her hair done. There was only one person at the reception desk, and I was brushed aside so she could wait on someone else. I was not offered tea or water. When I finally got my hair worked on other employees kept interrupting my stylist, and another customer came in and started talking to the stylist about getting her hair cut then, right when I was in the chair! I told that customer to wait her turn. This is very poor customer service, all the way around. This is an expensive place and even though I am an old lady I should be treated as a valued customer. To top it off, it was my birthday treat to myself. I get better service at the car dealership when I get my oil changed! I hope they improve and train their staff in courteousness. Update : A stylist named Kelsie fixed my bad hair cut a couple of days later. I booked my April appointment with her, but they called today and told me that Kelsie was not going to be able to keep that appointment! Tried to get me to go back to Kelly who had given me the bad haircut, but I told them I wanted a month off from Kelly. I was able to get an appointment for April with someone else. I am an 'older' woman and think that this place does not like having older gals as customers, just cool young chicks and dudes. I will see what happens next!

Writing this review is frustrating, because I have never been unhappy with my actual services at Gervais. I have had multiple massages, and I have had a lot of pedicures there. I really enjoy all of their masseuses - Bethany and Zach are both great - however I constantly have problems with their front of house staff. The last time I scheduled an appointment, I did so online but it seemed strange. My significant other called and confirmed I had an appointment. Without even giving my name, the front of house staff said "is your girlfriend Kelsi?" and he said yes and she said that she would see me at the time I scheduled. Then I get there, and I have no appointment. I was so disappointed, and rescheduled then. When I got there, I had a wonderful massage, and then when I went to the front to pay after a relaxing session, I found out they had booked the wrong massage that was more than double the price of the service I had originally booked. They didn't care. I paid, and when I was visibly irritated and said nothing, the manager called and offered 50% off my next service. I didn't plan to go back and just said fine. Skip to today after not using them for almost a year, my family member made a girl's spa day appointment. We had several services done, in totaly our services were around $550+. We waited around five minutes or so while the front of house staff calculated everything. I mentioned to them I thought the pricing sounded too low, but she confirmed all services and calculated in a 20% tip. Then once I was almost home, I was called and told they didn't charge us right and they requested I please return to pay for one massage. When I got there, it turned out two of our family's massages weren't paid for. Visibly irritated about it again, they discounted my service, but I feel like this could have been completely avoided. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, when we mess up billing, we mess it up and leave it as not to bother our customers. I certainly tried to avoid this situation at the counter when I mentioned the pricing didn't seem right for all the services we received. I will not be returning. I'm done with dealing with their front of house. Billing really is not that difficult and could have easily been calculated prior to coming to the front today.

It was lovely. Long day at work that day. I’d like the services included in the price like the hand rubs to be offered by the stylist. I had to ask to rub my hands and arms, which are recovering from a work related injury. The color and blow out is superb. Truly beautiful! The shampoo experience could be improved by attention to temp of water and more soothing massage on scalp. It was a bit vigorous to be relaxing. A neck injury has me needing to ask for more gentle rubbing. Thank you for asking. I am a loyal Aveda customer, and very appreciative of your products and service.

I do not feel like I am over-exaggerating when I give this place a two star review. Because this was my first time into the salon, I scheduled an appointment with a random stylist. We'll call her "B." Firstly, I had to wait almost 20 minutes past my 11:00 appointment time before I was seated in the chair by B. Secondly, when discussing how I wanted to cut my hair, I had shown B some pictures of what I wanted. I had told her how I wanted certain aspects of the style to be different than what was seen in the picture. B ignored what I had said and ended up taking off way more hair than I had asked her to take off. This was to the point where I was very dissatisfied and uncomfortable. Thirdly, when B was cutting around my neck, I felt some nicking. I ignored this but later realized that my neck was bleeding. B had not said anything and did not apologize for doing this. For the prices and supposed "expertise" of the stylists, I am very unhappy with the services provided. I have received better haircuts for half the price. I do believe my experience may have been circumstantial, but I know that I will not go back to B and may not return to Gervais at all.

Horrible, these people feel like since they work at a trendy salon they can cut hair how they feel instead of how the customer wants it. Only reason why this place is getting 2 stars is they gave me a 25% discount for being 40 minutes late. I don't recommend this whatsoever.

This is the place where I had my first ever pedicure. The staff is very professional, and now I'm also hooked on Aveda products! The aromatherapy is so delectable! I have been going here now since I was about 19, and I think this is my absolute favorite place. Attention to detail is amazing: they left little chocolates and warm tea for me in the shower! If you are there for a long day, they make sure to offer you lunch from Provisions next door. I got a turkey pesto sandwich and salad. Each treatment is performed by true professionals. You can tell they really try to personalize your experience to you and that they care about what they do. If I could, I would book plane tickets directly to this place as often as possible. Never change Gervais, never change.

Made an appointment for three full pedicures for myself and two daughters. Wanted a treat since it's not often we are in the same town at the same time. When we were choosing nail colors (gel), one of my daughters wanted the same color I was getting. We were told flat out no, not possible because they only have *one bottle of each gel color*. Ok, at 60-70 per pedicure, are you kidding me. I told the pedicurist I had a real problem with that...what if we were in a wedding and all wanted the same color? I even asked what if we called ahead and asked in advance for the same gel color? Again we were told no, sorry, not possible. It would "throw them off their schedule". I was also told by the person checking me out that it would be "exorbitantly expensive" to keep more than one bottle of each gel color. No sale, that sounds like total BS coming from a high end spa, raking in $$$$ with back to back pedis and manis. Also, my daughter had to remind her pedicurist that she had forgotten the top-coat on her gel pedicure. If she hadn't have been paying attention, her pedi would have been ruined within 5 minutes of leaving the salon. So good thing she didn't totally relax and trust the pedicurist to be on top of things. We won't be back. I get better service at City Nails on Coburg Rd.
