I went in for an all over foil with highlights for my roots and roots only. The stylist didn’t do enough foils and I still had a very visible root line after. The toner used did not blend the old highlights with the new. I called the next business day and went in to have it corrected. I was told more highlights would need to be added then a color in order to blend. The stylist over bleached my hair to the point where some strands are white and breaking off. The worst part was the dye. The ammonia fumes were so bad the stylist put a towel over my nose and mouth. She complained about the smell as well but was acting on direction of another stylist who appeared to have authority. When I told the stylist and possible manager (multiple times) my scalp was burning I was told to toughen up. My scalp still burns 8 hours later, after rewashing my hair to ensure all the chemical was rinsed out. I will never go back. Worst experience at a salon ever. I feel like a guinea pig for a new, inexperienced stylist.

Was in town for the weekend and needed a hair cut, was a little hesitant based on reviews but love Aveda so took a gamble - totally worth it. Shentel was lovely, efficient and knew her products really well, would easily return again if I was in town or recommend to others. And pricing was super reasonable.

I am a first time and last time customer of NV Aveda salon. I had an appointment at 9:30 this morning. As I was crossing the parking lot, there was a man in a black apron arguing on his cell phone. I arrived at my appointment a few minutes early and presented myself to the front desk; No one knew where Juan was. After a few minutes, Juan entered through the front door. He was the same man who was on the cell phone outside. Juan sat me down in his chair and begin mixing color. I didn’t see any foils on his tray so I asked if it would bleed into my base color. He abruptly ripped off my cape and said I need to make a different appointment that he “was not going to do me today” and had me get out of his chair. The staff was shocked. I was shocked. This is not the way to treat a new client...let alone a human being. As I left the salon, I heard the staff saying “Juan, you could have done her.” In hindsight, I should have realized I only obtained this appointment through a cancellation from earlier this week. In fact, he had two cancellations. An excellent stylist is hard to make an appointment with and they rarely have cancellations. Juan lacks professionalism, politeness, and respect for human decency. Even in the event of a scheduling error, Juan needs to utilize kindness and politeness if he wants to achieve excellent customer satisfaction and customer retention. He seems stressed out and overworked. Beware of Juan. I shall never return.

I've had about five cuts there so far and I'm hoping they have room for me today. Amanda is my usual stylist however I had a cut from someone else last time. All of them were done just the way I asked. The only cut I didn't like was my fault as I wanted something new and different but couldn't convey exactly what that was. Everyone is friendly and quick to get you a drink and direct you to the styling products they used so that you can replicate it at home. The one star reviews I've read just sound like they had a bad day or were just typical Santa Fe rude. I was in foodservice for many years there so I can attest to people's attitudes skewing reviews of great service and professionalism just because they didn't get exactly what they want. I would give 5 stars if the location wasn't in a little strip mall setting. I prefer the usual upscale style of other aveda salons I've been to

Horrible, the stylist took 4 hours to do my hair, she washed my hair three times and finally another experienced stylist had to wash it because the assigned stylist was inexperienced with Aveda products. The manager is rude and does not know how to handle clients effectively. I feel sorry for the only two stylist there that are experienced and true trained Aveda stylists.

There are so many reviews below that are very similar to my experiences there. There definitely is a bad vibe in that salon. There has been several employee turnovers. Every time I went in there was someone I hadn't seen before. Another issue - " turn everything around to benefit themselves and make the customer feel like crap". This is exactly what I experienced when they turned my hair purple! They kept accusing me of using the wrong products on my hair even though some of them were recommended by my stylist. They even had the nerve to tell my husband I was lying to him about the products I was using. Ridiculous!!! It is an extremely hostile environment as someone else pointed out. In the past year, every time I went in my hairstylist told me how much she hated the other employees; calling them names in front of other customers. How unprofessional! They are rude, judgmental, take no pride or accountability in their work. They are a real shame to be associated with Aveda.

I'm a regular NV Aveda customer and have always been very happy with my haircuts. Holly is fantastic!

Recently visited this location. My experience was excellent. The employees were very professional. The owners greated and treated me politely. As i walked un the door i was offered a refreshement. Overall, impressed with the clean state board standard upkeep. My stylist was Sarah Phillips, i would highly reccomend.

Staff is very polite.

Juan is the best! Great cut, great color, great sense of humor - what more can you ask for?

I've recently moved to Santa Fe. During my first visit Holly matched my color perfectly. My second visit, (today) she gave me a cut and color and I couldn't be more pleased. I couldn't have had a smoother transition to a new salon. The people working here are efficient and friendly.

If there was a ZERO star option, I would have chosen that. This place is an absolute joke. The manager is a complete jerk, they "stylist" turned my wife's beautiful blonde hair orange, purple and white, and when we complained they refused to correct the issue. My wife left in tears and I went and had a word with the manager. He did nothing but blame the products that my wife uses for the issues that they caused with her hair. The manager is a pompous jerk that absolutely no concept of customer service and blames his customers for whatever goes wrong in his salon. When my wife called me in tears after she was turned away with purple hair I was absolutely irate. It's a crime that this place can cal itself a salon. It's five days before Christmas and now my wife has to figure out how to get these awful colors fixed before we see the entire family. Beyond the exorbitant prices and terrible service Aveda was unwilling to fix the mistakes they had made. It's unbelievable that such a place can even stay in business. I will be telling everyone I know to stay away!

I started going to Amanda at this salon and have been very impressed in the service, quality of work and professionalism. I'm able to go in with my ideas and she listens well and gives me advice and feedback of what would look nice. Every time I go, I am a satisfied customer!

Cristina Vigil

Got a great wash and trim here a few months ago and am planning to go back this week!

Christina Chavarria

Juan Gomez is the best Hairstylist. He takes the time to talk with me about what I want to do with my hair to make it easy to maintain and always look as if I just had a salon appointment. Samantha Salazar does an amazing job on eyelash extensions. The staff is always friendly and I always get a friendly reminder of an upcoming appointment.

Terrible hair cut by Juan.. Wasted $100... But my friend looked great from him....

Santa Fe Girl

Really disappointing experience---and the least friendly Aveda salon I've been to anywhere, anytime in the country. They charge "Aveda" prices but the service wasn't typical Aveda salon quality and while I don't mind spending on my hair, I ultimately felt a bit ripped off. Disappointing doesn't even really cover it.

Anastasia Steffen

I have been getting haircuts from Holly for several years and I could not be more satisfied. Great results!

Jane Doe

Wow...I have never been in such a hostile salon. Obviously no one is happy to be there. Customer service is passive aggressive (if you don't like something or want something changed, it's YOUR fault). I agree with the other user about the bad vibe and to stay away. There are so many other great salons in Santa Fe, no need to go here ever again.

Norma Marino

Whitney is the worst. the owner Brian is a real Prick... these people have a lousy attitude and turn everything around to benefit themselves and make the customer feel like crap.. complete assholes

Doge

Amazing place great haircuts

They have no clue when it comes to running a business. They stare at you when you come in and judge. Overpriced and poor quality services. This is the south end of Santa Fe, not Beverly Hills.

Horrible experience! Zero stars!!! I just received the worst haircut of my life and I'm 38 years old. I asked for a trim, but the stylist instead butchered the left side of my head. When she went to trim the side of my head, above the ears, she took the trimmer on the left really high, the right side was fine, but the left didn't look good. At first I gave her the benefit of the doubt (she's the professional), but when it became obvious that she had taken the trimmer WAY too far up on the left side, I said it looked a bit too short. She started to try to fix it, but then gave up .... the right side didn't match the left and the top of my hair wasn't blended. It just looked terrible, but she said it was finished. When I said it was obviously not finished and way too short on one side, she got super defensive and mad at me and said said my instructions weren't specific enough. I was not aggressive or mean, but merely said it looked too short on one side and that the hair cut didn't look finished. After I said this, she was so upset that she said she could no longer continue. Honestly I didn't want her to continue. I was left in the chair with a half finished hair cut and with a huge mistake on one side. Luckily another stylist stepped in and tried to save the haircut, which even she admitted didn't look very good. The new stylist did a good job trying to save it, but I've never had a worse experience at a styling salon.

I had over-bleached my hair and was worried when another salon said there was nothing I could do, but then I saw Sabrina at Aveda and she fixed the brassiness and gave me a smoky blonde in a single process which is super hard to do. They were also very nice, attentative, and Aveda is cruelty free. I'll definitely be back.

I use the Aveda Salon, Salon Marjorie, in Taos. Dropped in here at the Aveda Salon in Santa Fe and asked if I could use their WIFI for one minute. Was told, "No." The comment directed at me as I left was, "What a pain in the ....!" Well, now I not only won't buy Aveda products, I won't use go to the salon in Taos that uses them. Aveda needs to train this Santa Fe manager. What a grumpy guy he is.

I have been searching for a reasonably priced hair stylist in Santa Fe for so long. I am so glad I found Amanda. I usually go in with an idea of the haircut I want in mind, and she can create exactly what I'm looking for. My hair is pretty think and unmanageable, but since going to Amanda it has been the best it has ever been!

Professional Cut every time! I have had my hair cut by Juan more than 5 times Every time, I get an amazingly good hair cut. He knows how to cut difficult hair. I have thick, curly graying hair. I do tend to go longer between cuts than some.Usually 4 months- 6 months is the longest....the cut grows out looking good. It is not a cheap hair cut but it is a good value hair cut.

Julie Ferman

I'm a regular at Aveda - Juan's my stylist and Brian does a fabulous job scheduling, confirming, etc. I was a little worried, in moving to Santa Fe from LA that I'd be stranded without a great salon, but NOT the case. I love the Aveda products and Juan has done a great job with my hair. SO glad these guys are here in Santa Fe. Five stars, across the board. Fun, bright, happy, capable and delightful folks at this salon.

Max did a wonderful job! Everyone is friendly!

Laura Gayarre Acacio

I buy aveda shampoo because is the one I like for my hair, but it is hard to find a place where people are more hostile, rude, and unhappy to be there. The fact that I spent nearly 200 dollars every 2 months does not prevent the owner from treat you with disdain. Sometimes I just order online.

Stephanie Barr

I needed a haircut while in Santa Fe on vacation. I wasnt worried because Aveda is supposed to have certain standards, right? This place doesn't do any of the things true Aveda salons do, the haircut was extremely rushed, and it was double in price what I normally pay at my Aveda. Extremely disappointing.

The salon is great- having Jayme there makes it even better. Her talent, knowledge and patience is appreciated. I've been a client for 2 + years and am very satisfied.

I see Amanda at Aveda and I absolutely love the work she does! I always go in with ideas of what I want done and she does it above and beyond my expectations. I've been going to Aveda for 6yrs and I would not go anywhere else because I know that I'm going to walk away with a great hair cut and color. I don't have to worry about them butchering my hair and dying it something I don't want. I definitely recommend Aveda for much needed R&R.
