The service and amenities at The Fountain are truly lacking lately. My husband sent me here for the day as a surprise for my birthday. I usually go prepared with change of clothes, toiletries etc. but this was a surprise treat and I had no knowledge beforehand. My massage was nice and enjoyed a whirlpool and lunch. However, was beyond disappointed at the end of my services. I was looking forward to a steam and a long hot shower then getting dressed and blow dry my hair. when I asked the girls the desk for some facial moisturizer after explaining my surprise gift one immediately said no without even looking or inquiring further. A second girl came back and said what were u looking for I told her she went to see if she had samples and came back and said no sorry. This is a day spa that specializes in facials and no one could get me a small sample or squirt of moisturizer?! I should mention I have been going to the fountain since 2010 and have accumulated over 25 visits per my service card. I also did the spa membership for 2 years. Very disappointing for a long term client. My check out was another issue. My husband had indicated he took care of everything-service and gratuity over the phone when he booked. I informed the cashier of this and she said well we don't keep cards on file so he couldn't have possibly paid. At that point I was annoyed, trued to reach my husband and just whipped out my own card before she says oh wait I see notes here he bought a gift card and it's on file. He took care of everything. Didn't you just say that was impossible? Wouldn't you check that first after I indicate the situation? Overall very disappointed as this was my go to place for a day of pampering alone at least 3-4x a year. I'll be looking for somewhere else to enjoy.

if your concerned with clean I’ll give it a 5. But for the price the women at the desk and the old decrepit witch at the boutique was Awful! No hospitality, never asked if I enjoyed my stay. The cleaning people were nicer. I didn’t have a gift certificate, I paid for this and not that it should matter. Just snobby. When I was leaving the masseuse a tip in the envelope the woman at the boutique snubbingly told me to leave it on the desk. Wouldn’t take take it. Nope not for me.

Visit and appointments recently at The Fountain Spa in Ramsey NJ. Fabulous experience, I left from there feeling like a new woman! Everyone from the reception staff to our service providers and all the staff were gracious welcoming and helpful. I went with friend and we both had seaweed body wraps and sensitive skin facials. What a treat to enjoy in the dreary winter months!!! Dawn who did my body wrap and Marie who gave me my facial were professional and skilled in their services and made me feel relaxed and special. I would definitely recommend a visit there knowing you will enjoy everything from the divine steam room to the delicious iced tea and the restful tranquility room. The facility is immaculate with plenty of luxurious touches: spacious and well appointed changing/locker rooms and unlimited towels. Go and treat yourself!!!

had a very good massage and very helpful staff. However, there is no where to really relax afterwards, which I did have at other spas. The Tranquil Room is a flight upstairs-not a big deal but not what one wants after a relaxing massage. Perhaps you can find a space on the first floor to provide a quiet area to relax after a nice massage.

The service was amazing. My massage therapist Kim was perfect. Talked when I felt like talking, was quiet when I needed to be in my own place. The massage she gave me was the perfect amount of pressure. Facilities were super clean. We had lunch in the Tranquility Room. It was delicious and the service was great!

Terrible experience. Outdated in everything from facility, technique, and service. I had a gift card for spa package so I was there for over 5 hours. First, the attendant gave me my robe and a gown. Gown was to be worn during the facial only but I was required to carry it with me ALL day. Why couldn’t the woman doing my facial give it to me? The waiting area was not relaxing at all. It was noisy bright and stiff chairs. I had a body scrub and mud mask. That was decent. Massage less than mediocre. No time during the services was I offered a drink. After the massage I asked for coffee. They didn’t have any only tea and water. The area with refreshments wasn’t relaxing either. The refreshments were awful just water tea and there terrible muffins, and especially being there for so long a little something would be nice. The lady brings me up there to get tea because they didn’t have coffee and she said but you only have like 5 mins to drink it because you have your facial. Then I go for my facial and it was nothing more than what I do at home with a cleanser mask and some moisturizer. I go back upstairs for lunch. I got the salad which was pretty good actually. Pedicure and manicure was the worst part. I asked for French manicure but a beige base. They didn’t have beige. The woman did a terrible job, had no clue how to do a good French, and got nail polish under my nails and all over my fingers. I had to go home and soak my nails in acetone to get it out. I’m getting ready to leave and most good spas offer products to use such as brushes, blowdryers, etc. their blow dryer was so old like it was 20 years old. Nothing else to use and products were cheap drugstore products like suave. I’ve been to plenty of salons and spas in my life and this was by far the worst. I usually go to depasquale the spa in Morris plains (amazing place), but only reason I went here was because I got it as a gift. Will never go back.

Terrible customer service. Not going back there again. Even the saloon manager (Tony or whatever) was rude and didn't really care about customers. I had to leave by a certain time due to other prior commitment. I had called well in advance to let them know and confirm I will be done on time. Upon arrival for the appointment, I was told I will need to wait as the stylist was running behind schedule. Upon reminding them about my call earlier - the first response was not a sorry but how they cannot tell if a stylist is running behind schedule and how I should have called again to confirm etc. It was the saloon manager telling me I should have called back. (instead of them showing the courtesy to their client who had requested and was assured timely service.) Rude people. Not at all worth it. Not going back there again. Giving one star only because I cannot post without selecting at least one star.

In March 2009, a family member purchased me a $100 gift certificate to The Fountain Spa in Ramsey, NJ towards any spa or salon service for my 40th birthday. Less than two months later, I had a bone marrow transplant due to unexpectedly being diagnosed with leukemia. Since that time, I have been in and out of the hospital with relapses, multiple infections and major surgeries. My last surgery was November 17, 2017. On May 17, 2018, I contacted the spa to discuss my options of either using it or giving it to another person. I was advised that a manager would have to call me back to discuss my options. Later that day a manager returned my call to tell me that I can use the certificate or transfer it to someone else until March 14, 2019 but it is now only worth $50 since I didn’t use it within two years. When I questioned why, I was advised that it depreciated because I didn’t use it within two years. When I mentioned the fact that depreciating gift certificates are now against the law, her response was it didn’t come illegal until 2013 so since I received it 2009 they are able to depreciate it up until then. I expressed my disappointment especially since the reason I was unable to use it up until now was due to medical issues and couldn’t understand why they could not make an exception due to these extreme special circumstances and her response was this is the best I can do. There is no reason to depreciate a gift certificate to half the face value especially due to extreme health conditions and now it is illegal. Can you reach out to them and help reach management to allow me to the full credit of the gift certificate. I do not work and as it is their massages are more than $100. With me on permanent disability I will not be able to afford any service there with the $50 they want to depreciate it to. Heartless people!!!

My pedicure was lovely. The person doing my pedicure was friendly and pleasant. Loved the massage chair and that my bf and i had privacy in a separate room. They even gave us a cute bag of chocolate and ice tea while we were there.

I went for a 2 hours massage today. It is a $230 per 1 hour and 50 minutes of hands on, the person that gave me the massage arrived at 11:04 and took me to the room, then the massage started after 11:15 and finished at 12:45, when I arrived to the front desk I asked about that 20% of the massage time missing and they didn’t care about it, the lady told me that she was going to check that. I am very disappointed.

OK so this price isn't the cheapest massage out there, but it is worth it. The entire experience from start to finish was super luxurious. I got a couple's massage with my wife that was $250: it included sauna time and complimentary refreshments before and after. The masseuses were professional, courteous and really good at their jobs. The amenities (shower, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hair dryer, electronic lockers, robes, towels, flip flops) were all good quality. They thought of everything I don't regret spending a dollar here.

I hate to leave negative reviews but I have to warn other customers. I had a facial with Veronica and it was awful. She is very rough and careless. She left so many red marks on my face and I had blisters formed next day on my face due to excessive pressure she applied during extractions. My skin is so much in pain and it's gonna take some time to heal now. I get facials regularly, at least once a month and never had such poor experience. I can't stand the fact that I paid someone to harm my face. Stay away from Veronica!

Like another reviewer here, I received a gift certificate to this spa and had an equally unremarkable experience. The massage therapist seemed very hesitant to provide any pressure even after I requested. The facility seems dated, and just not up to par (dead light bulbs, dirty ceiling tiles, everything looks tired). The view from the lounge area ( car dealership) is very uninspiring. I scheduled a couples massage and no one was there to meet my girlfriend when she entered the spa area. For me the only plus was the steam room otherwise, disappointing. I would not go back or recommend to a friend.

I love going there for my mani & pedis. However the last time I was there for a facial it was very loud in the lounge area. Some of the people who work there were talking very loudly and it wasn't relaxing at all. Also I suggest that in addition to the water there be hot water for tea, coffee and possibly something to snack on while waiting after instead of having to go upstairs to the relaxation room.

Just got my facial done here and I must say it was heavenly. I got the microdermabrasion facial, which really gets out all the dirt that is sucked into your pores and removes dead skin. The person who did my facial was Lisa. She did an amazing job and had my face looking brand new! I highly recommend her because not only is she knowledgeable, she makes sure she handles each one of your needs. She even massaged my back, arms, neck, legs, hands and feet, which I didn’t expect at all. I left on cloud nine and my face was glowing!! Thank you Lisa for an amazing pleasant experience! You were so sweet and I will definitely be back!

I booked two 'day of luxury' packages for me and my mom to spend my birthday. Our experience was just ok, especially considering the price tag. We both felt rushed in between all of the services... our therapists seemed more concerned with getting us to the next service appointment rather than allowing us to actually relax and enjoy. The manicure and pedicure was our least favorite as well, they didn't do a great job cleaning our cuticles and the nail polish was chipping on the same day. I wouldn't make a special trip here again.

I ALWAYS GO TO RAMSEY FACILITY.......I'VE BEEN VISITING THE RAMSEY SPA SINCE IT OPENED MANY YEARS AGO. I must say from the time I walk into the front door until the time I leave, the service and ALL people that work there are just wonderful. I've never had a bad experience there. I hope the corporate offices keep the Ramsey staff happy as I would hate to see their standards decline. All who work there are top notch employees and should be rewarded.

My daughter and I went to the Hackensack location which I like the staff better ( especially the checkout desk , ) and space better than Ramsey. We booked our appts on a Wednesday for a Friday , they told us to come a half hour early to use the steam So when we checked in and found out on Friday the steam was not working I was greatly disappointed. When I said something the locker room attend just said it's broken today. I had a stone massage , enjoyed very much. The only issue the next day I was black and blue on my arm and thigh , Never had that happen before. So I don't recommend this treatment if you are wearing a sleeveless dress the next day My daughter had a regular massage and she enjoyed. Overall a very nice way to spend the afternoon

Everything at both the Ramsey and Hackensack locations is exquisite. Service is excellent, attendants are experts, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. A personal favorite is the steam room both before and after a session. The entire facility is meticulously clean and constantly monitored to keep areas this way. All things considered this is a great place to spend a few hours to rejuvenate close to home.

Today, I used my gift certificate. I had two treatments as a Birthday Treat. The first was a "Sea Salt Body Scrub" by Erin. It was such a treat! Besides enjoying the scrub, at the same time Erin gave me an enjoyable body message which left my skin silky smooth. I finished that treatment and enjoyed a tea in the Tranquility Room. Dina a Message Therapist came to find me and she brought me to my next phase of the day. Dina gave me the most spectacular 2 hour "Well Being Message." I have never ever had a message like this. I was in a total state of relaxation. Peacefulness. Grateful to my son for this wonderful

My first experience was yesterday 4/13/16. I asked masseuse to work on specific areas. It was horrible. She never even worked on areas of most significance, again: for which we had discussed prior, in length. We had to take 2 flights of stairs to the "tranquility room" which had spackle throughout for my viewing pleasure. They had stale cookies and tap water and was thrown into the 80's with decor, the plastic mats were adorable...not. The only reason I gave 2 stars is the kindness while greeted. Also, someone there gave me a tip for where I could buy the purse there (marked at $200.00) for a fraction of the cost. Oh, I neglected to mention that the masseuse where telling me how they could "upgrade" my experience, for a cost. So during my experience I simply could add ten dollars for whichever scent I chose. Or $10.00 for this or that...Charming. Don't waste your time or money.

Tried and true! Whether I go for a service by myself, with friends, or with my husband, we always leave thrilled with the experience. Facials, mani/pedi, soaks, massages, salon services.... Everything is clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly and professional. Great results every time!

I’ve been a loyal patron of The Fountain Spa in Ramsey for nearly 22 years and cannot say enough great things about it. There have been major improvements, renovations, and added services over the years, but the cost of a massage and facial are still relatively affordable and the level of service can’t be beat. So much so that, even though I live in NYC where some of the highest end spas exist, I still make the trek to NJ to be pampered by what I consider to be the best in the biz.

I received a gel manicure and regular pedicure last Friday, the 27th, before my wedding weekend. My pedicure was fine and the nail technician, June, was very pleasant and friendly. My manicure was a disaster. The polish was not even and it was all over the skin of my fingers. It looked like a 5 year old had done my nails. I was extremely disappointed the technician thought it would even be ok to let me leave the salon with my nails looking that way. After admitting she was also very unhappy with the results (she should have said something earlier), I was sent to another technician to remove the gel and start over with a different color. It looked a little better after but I still had all the old polish on the skin near my nails so I was sent to another technician who scraped my skin so hard that she made me BLEED. On my left ring finger and mind you I was getting married the next day. The technician just shrugged it off saying it waa necessary. It was so painful and it's been 5 days and it still hurts and I can't put it under water without feeling pain. They waived the gel manicure charge but charged for a regular manicure and pedicure after keeping me at the salon for over 3 hours (should have taken 1.5 hours). I was late to my own wedding event, and had to pay for a painful experience. I will never go here again and I urge you to never get your nails here as well. The fact that they charged me anything after causing me to bleed was awful customer service. If my finger still hurts in a few days, I will be sure to report them.

Had a facial with Gabby and it was life changing, she knows skin and really cares about personalizing the experience. Have seen a huge difference since going and my skin feels great. I am not normally one to visit a full spa but have had many massages in my life. More of the type pretend spa where you are in and out after your massage. However I had a gift certificate for a massage here. It was for a Swedish massage which is not something I enjoy as I would rather have someone work out my knots. So anyway I paid the money to upgrade to the Custom Comfort massage asking for the two areas of my back and neck. I felt a lot of the time was spent with a flat hand “rubbing” my back rather than actually massaging it. She did adjust the pressure as per my request but again that was when she was massaging rather than rubbing. I might even say I have had better massages at some of the franchised massage “spas”. For the price of $125 plus tax and tip there is no way I would ever return. Yes they have showers and a steam room to be used but for a total cost of over $155 for an hour massage I will not be returning as I did not see the value for the price. Oh and if you have to park in the back take a look at the exhaust from their dryers and all of the lint littering the ground as you walk around the side of the building. It is enough for you to make a lot of pillows and it cannot be good for the environment.

Since moving to Bergen County, I have been going to the spa periodically for services. I recently had a massage and it was excellent. The therapists and technicians are exceptional and always accommodating. Which is the primary reason for going. However, with regards to the "spa" factor, the facilities and support staff services (not the therapists and technicians) at Riverside need improvements. I have filled out the surveys after visits and have yet to receive a response. Sometimes when entering one is not greeted and there is a hesitation and near reluctance to direct people as to what desk to check in. Once there, there is little communication. The transition between services is non-existent. The staff need better training in communication and creating a better, more welcoming affect. The men's room needs work. The main shower had the hand held apparatus completely missing with a hole in the wall. There was only the ceiling rain shower head working. There is mold in some of the grout lines in said shower and there are rusty shower curtain rods, door frames, etc. The facilities need better maintenance and upkeep for the steep prices for services. Unfortunately, the latter takes away from the former great experience of the therapists and technicians--which I have found to be stellar. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this spa to friends.
