It's a great sensorial experience with the Sage and Palo Santo blessing, especially their percussions, multiple magical gadgets that shuffle, ding and ring at all the right moments to take you to your theta state journey and escape to relax. Total BS, yeah you sit quietly in a lounge char with the soft music playing and salt on the ground...but as far as it physically helping breathing or allergy issues? Zero. I felt no different after I walked out than when I came in....same stuffy nose, etc. totally bogus experience unless all you’re looking for is a place to sit and close your eyes for a while. What a waste of money. I can do the same in my house for free.

I am only giving my experience 3 stars because the twinkle lights were malfunctioning the entire time of my session and therefore I was unable to do anything but pay attention to the flashing lights. I’m sure the experience would have been enjoyable and relaxing without this distraction, however I was not able to experience the positive effect of bliss and relaxation because I was too concentrated on the fact that every 6-15 seconds (I ended up counting between flashes) the twinkle lights were going to flash on and off again. As this was my first experience I have to say I am disappointed with my experience.

Thursday night Sound Meditation with Julius: Always a positive experience for me. At some point I feel in tune w/ the gong and drum as their reverberations seem to run through me. I end up feeling relaxed, satiated, and decompressed in the end. I think the cave itself helps make the sound and vibrations feel like they are rolling around the room, like ocean waves curling as they head to a shore. Friday nights he does a double session with special guests.

I suffer from COPD and my daughter found out about Montauk Salt Cave and decided to pay for a session. When we went there the lady was so wonderful, she made sure we were comfortable and explained about the benefits of the Salt Cave. I went in and it was very easy to relax. The environment was just perfect. I stayed for my 45 minute session without my oxigen machine, which I have to use constantly. It was amazing. I could breathe after so many months, I didn’t have to use my oxigen machine. I left there feeling so great that I walked pass Canal St. Then went to 28th St on the subway and walked to 34th street, back home. Without my oxigen machine. I lasted a week feeling better than before. I went back this week and I’m going back as many times as I can. It’s wonderful. I truly recommend it for everyone.

I have been to this location 5 times now... this last time lacked a few stars...pin lights were broken, the temperature felt warmer than I've ever experienced before and I didn't feel the the mist of salt in the air during the 45 minute session. The receptionist has always been quite lovely and gracious.

So peaceful. 45-minute session is $45 and is absolutely worth it. Lie down on the salt and switch off - you’ll walk out of there refreshed and like you’ve just dropped a ton of weight off your back. Facilities are clean and well decorated, with a nice Montauk vibe. The co-owner (I believe) is lovely and very friendly, told us the story of how the original Salt Cave was founded (nephew had severe allergies and medication didn’t help).

The reason I went there is because of asthma and allergies I was told this will help me. It was so relaxing to lay there and listen to the ocean. When making the appointment, you should be ABSOLUTELY CLEAR that if you are even a few minutes late, you won't be permitted to enter. I arrived at exactly 6:11 for a 6 p.m. appointment, and while I understand I was a few minutes late, I was coming in from New Jersey and my boyfriend had flown in from Chicago for this experience, planned way in advance. Tell us on the phone that you won't allow us to come in because people were already "meditating" inside and we would disturb them, as we were told when we arrived. We would not have entered like a herd of elephants, but things do happen even after allowing plenty of time for travel. Thanks for ruining a very expensive weekend, which involved the purchase of a plane ticket and tunnel fees fro NJ to NY. Tell people beforehand about your lateness policy!!!

It was fun! The salt facial feels soothing. This is kind of like a haunted house, but in reverse! You're sitting in a cave with sand and there is relaxing music and there are twinkling stars in the cave!

Saw a Groupon and was curious about the Salt Cave so I gave it a try not really knowing what to expect. The entire process is fairly easy to complete once you get your voucher, you just call the number provided, then sign up online for the class of your choice. The place itself is conveniently located and the facility is spacious, clean, quiet and inviting. Do yourself a favor and bring clean white socks as it is a requirement and although I am sure they sell them there, I would not take that chance. Ok now for the details, The cave itself is dim not dark, with comfortable lounge chairs (13), they are spacious enough so you don't feel crowded by the next guest, which allow you to lean back and relax yourself. They have a few lights on the ceiling which adds to the total experience and I found absolutely charming. A blanket is provided but I had a sweater with me in case I got cold. The cave is kept at a comfortable temperature but I am sensitive to chilly air so I was happy I did. The cave is surrounded by Himalayan Salt around the walls and as salt which had a sandy kind of texture on the floor. All cell phones must be shut off so as not distract yourself or other guest. The atmosphere is serene and intensely pleasurable which is what one would expect from a cave. I went to the Wednesday class in the late afternoon so I did not have a healer guiding the session which I already knew when signing up for the class (online scheduling is really awesome) instead I had nice relaxing music which was very pleasant to listen to while I concentrated on taking long breaths to inhale the healing properties of the salt cave itself. I must say that time seemed to fly by. I was so relaxed when I left that even the horrific train commute on my way home did not bother me as it usually does. I purchased a 5 session voucher and I am happy that I did since I can not wait to do it again. Thank you Montauk Salt Cave for an amazing pleasant and relaxing experience.

It was a cool experience, but the experience gave me anxiety instead of calming me down. The chairs made so much noise everytime you moved that you felt scared to move to make a noise and disrupt others. Also, I got this because I thought it was a guided meditation. It was just music. My advice, get new chairs that don't make so much noise or raise the music so it doesn't disrupt others.

The lady at the front - who I believe is the owner - was so sweet & went out of her way to make sure we received an exceptional experience. I really enjoyed my first visit to Montauk Salt Cave and am looking forward to going back! My favorite part was how relaxing it was to just sit and rest for 45 minutes in such a peaceful environment. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and it was easy to use my LivingSocial voucher. The cave itself was really pretty and the reclining chairs and temperature were comfortable (it's slightly cool inside, but they provide blankets). Basically, you just sit back and relax in very low lighting with some light nature-sounds music in the background (there's also a brief recording about the history and healing properties of salt, which I found interesting). I've been to a couple of salt caves or rooms before when I lived in Germany and enjoyed the experience - this was pretty similar, though maybe a bit more luxurious; also, I appreciated that here it was truly only a rest time (at least one place I used to go had brighter lighting and allowed you to read - also nice - but I liked the enforced "mind resting" time ;)). And, though I was almost fully recovered from a bad cold, I did notice that I felt better after my session for the rest of the day than I had before going! I'd recommend it both for the inherent health benefits of salt as well as the relaxation! I also want to check out their sound bath/meditation options in the future (not listed online) - I really enjoy these in yoga studios and think holding it in the salt cave would be especially nice. Thanks for a very nice experience!

This is an exceptional way to relax and leave the stress of NYC behind you. I am a regular there and go at least once a week, but I particularly like going Thursday evening when Julius conducts a guided meditation with a gong, bells and essential oils. I can not recomend the Salt Caves highly enough!

I enjoyed my session in the Montauk Salt Cave. The room has a soothing pink glow from the salt lamps and the ocean sounds they play are very calming. I would like to return again to see if I notice a difference my breathing over repeated visits. I would recommend the experience to any one who is curious.

Brought my 13 and 17 year olds with me for their first time. They really liked it, were very relaxed, and want to go back again! I'm easily distracted and annoyed by people so I scheduled a weekday/morning session. Shared the room with a lovely lady on our right, and a late comer on the left. The late person kept cracking her joints (distracting) and dashed out as soon as the recording stated our session was over (annoying amount of noise and rush with her exit). So go to relax but remember, it's a group thing and you can't control other people, LOL.

Tingling on the skin the first 15 minutes. Calm atmosphere. Salt on the floor is more like smaller gravel then sand. Chairs were slightly uncomfortable when you attempt to lay more flat. Its a battle of wills to keep your back down further but you won't win. Found myself fidgeting more then I thought I would.time goes by before you know it. It was interesting.

Great experience. I love salt caves, I believe they are really beneficial. I felt a little congested in my lungs and half way through the session I didn't feel it anymore. It's truly very nice there, the only thing is that it can get pretty cold despite the blankets they provide. It has to be chilly for the salt so I understand. Maybe the price could be a little less too. I would come back.

Perfect place to relax in the crazy city of New-York. They have 2 room, a big one with chairs and a smaller one, with nothing. We went for the smaller one to lay down directly on the salt. Great moment of relaxation! You need to try at least once. The staff is really helpful and friendly.

The salt experience is a great one to have and I would recommend it to everyone. The salt room is very relaxing but cold. However, you are given blankets to reclined and enjoyed. The staff is very courteous too. The only reason I gave them a 4 star is because the blankets are reuseable right after someone just used it.

My friend and I were curious when we booked our sessions. My experience was very relaxing and there's no proof of this but I felt my stomach shrink, as if my inflamation was slowly lessening. I normally get irritated by white noise of anykind, instead it really helped me relax. The only con is hearing people move on the leather chairs.

The place is a few blocks away from 14st Union Square. When you walk in you are greeted by a one man band staff, a very nice lady who does it all. In the reception, a beautiful rustic design room you can find anything with himalaian salt: stones, necklaces and others. You don't need special clothes to get in the cave. You only remove your shoes and walk into this sandy cave with rocky salty walls, reclining chairs and a fireplace emulation. You will get a sheet cover since the place is chilly. It is very relaxing and you may fall asleep with the sound of waves and relaxing music while looking up at a star like flickering ceiling lights. There are 13 reclining chairs, so silence and punctuality are essential. Once you walk in she will play a little meditating explanation tape about the cave spa. I had the whole place to myself and dedinetely felt my sinuses improved after it.

Was very excited to try this experience with my daughter. However the twinkle lights over head were not working properly and blinked on and off the entire time. (The lady knew this that took us back because she mentioned something about it to a co-worker) It was so distracting and annoying and it gave me a headache. The lights turned off completely would have even been better. The salt cave experience was nice - but I felt like I was so distracted by the flickering lights that I missed out on what could have been a great experience. Wish I got my money back or at least a chance at another session at your expense.

We are so blessed to have this salt cave in NYC! It is truly a gem! I've gone to the sound healings a few times and they are great. I also went on the weekend when the first opened and meditated for an hour long or so and it was quite refreshing. They have good products, a friendly staff and affordable prices. Highly recommend!
