I figured three stars would average out my my two experiences - one being five stars and the next being one. The first time I went to Allure I was thrilled - I loved my cut and color and immediately booked an appointment with the same stylist eight weeks out to have a root touch up and dramatic cut. The second time was disappointing. As soon as the towel came off of my head I could tell that the red roots did not match the rest of my brown hair. For some reason the color from my previous visit wasn't recorded and something obviously different was used. I have thick, curly hair and my new short cut doesn't have a single layer in it - it looks like a Christmas tree. I had outings with friends planned and was really looking forward to having my hair done for the day. However, my stylist informed me that she "couldn't style my hair because [she] didn't have a diffuser." She also told me that as my hair dried the roots would match the rest of my hair better. As the day went on I realized that the cut was not appropriate for my hair and that the roots did not match. This was made worse by the bright hair dye all over my hairline. I was so upset that I called the salon back to see if I could come back in for it to be fixed and they said to just give it a few days to see if the color lightened up. I explained that I was flying out the following day for job interviews (hence the fresh cut and touch up) - now I'm across the country with an unfortunate haircut and even worse color! Several of my family members have asked what was going on with my "red hair." I'm very easy going and have always claimed that I've never had a bad haircut - this is the exception. So disappointed!

I'm from Minnesota visit a friend and Allure was welcoming and kind. When I walked in I was greeted by a nice front desk person. She showed me the robes and where the garment bag was for my clothes. I appericate that there was a lock on it. The waiting area is nice and relaxing. They have coffee and tea. I recieved a 50 minute massage from Mary. She was great and she listened to my areas I was needing more attention. Overall a great experience and if I can make it back before I leave on Thursday I will come get a facial. Allure is well worth the price.

Life is always so rush, rush in NYC, days filled with anxiety and stress. When I enter Allure Day Spa, knowing I am going to have the best facial with Ursula Kotulsa, I instantly am filled with joy and calmness takes over. Pass 6 years I have had a facial with Ursula once a month. Facials are a necessity, like brushing your teeth. I am 59 years old and look like I am 40. Ursula is the sweetest and kindest person I know. She is very thorough in her work. She is persistent to remove any black/white heads, gives me the best face masques, and removes all my stressful wrinkles. I am always happy and beautiful when I have a facial with her. Everyone needs a good obsession, facials with Ursula happens to be mind. Definitely money well spent!!!

I hosted my baby shower sprinkle here for 12 people. The staff was courteous and accommodating to the needs of our group and everyone enjoyed their services. None of my friends had anything to say negatively. Even though it was busy, I would recommend the mani pedicure and the massage. Lana was extremely helpful in coordinating it all and runs a tight ship. Highly recommend allure day spa for your spa treatments.

Massage was ok, not terrible but not great. Waxing was great, very happy with that service, but eyelash tinting was horrible. I have blonde lashes and they looked ok in the dim light in the salon but looking at them at home, my bottom lashes look like they were done a month ago, roots not done, uneven color, I'm not happy. Sent an email to Allure to give them a chance to fix it but no response. I should have just saved my money and gone to brow chica brow.

I was presented the honor of receiving such EXCEPTIONAL care at the magical hands of licensed Allure professionals. I came in for a haircut, a Vichy massage, a tropical total body quench and glow treatment and an ultimate facial. I was most fascinated with the comfy robe I was given to prepare for my Vichy massage and tropical body treatment, which I can tell was made with soft angelic hands anointed with the blessings of beauty from Aphrodite herself. My hair stylist was patient and understanding. She undid my old hot mess look and gave me an adorable vintage bob, thus, allowing me to look like I got my life together when it may not be the case (because a woman's job is never done from balancing a career and/or education to caring for her family). I felt like a princess mermaid during my Vichy massage, the service began with a most thorough deep tissue massage continuing on with a special hydrotherapy message with soothing water caressing and cleansing the stress away from my body. *sings Little Mermaid tune* You want to be...where the Vichy massage therapists are. Next was my tropical body treatment where my entire body was exfoliated, then placed in a soothing cocoon with a special body mask on, and then emerged as a fully moisturized butterfly with soft, glowing skin. Finally, my day ended by zapping away 5 years of damage off my face with a fantastic ultimate facial. I saved a lot of money away from Botox and botched plastic surgery that would have surely left me looking like a walking Picasso painting. My wrinkles and blemishes were plumped away, penetrating hydrating products from Guinot which illuminated my skin with the special aid of a safe electrical current device. I was given the red carpet treatment from the early 15 minutes that I arrived to the moment of my departure. Do you or someone you know want to feel like royalty whilst receiving a pampering of a lifetime? You must come to Allure!

Expected more for such a high price. Paid $125 for what ended up being an entry level massage. I paid extra for deep tissue however left feeling the same muscle soreness and Indifferent to when I showed up. From the moment I walked in, they treated me like I was a celebrity. I was booked for a facial and a massage. The BEST facial I have ever had and I get a lot of them, all over North/Central America. The massage was good. It's a busy place and I wish I wasn't running the marathon the next day so I could have had my hair/make up done, the before/afters that I saw were amazing! Next time...

I've celebrated my birthday here twice with a spa party, had two of my girlfriends celebrate there birthdays here with spa parties and not once were any of us disappointed with the quality of service, or level of professionalism they displayed to us. The head of staff there even know's who I am whenever I call to make a reservation no matter how long it's been since my last visit. This is the only spa I will indulge myself at!

Terrible front desk and horrible mindfulness of others time and money.I went I was driving in on a blocked highway so I called ahead of time to make sure everything would be okay if I was late. I had her put the appointments on hold so if I got there on time my slots would still be there. I got there and the nail stylist decided to leave. and my massage was moved till 4pm. I work 120 hour weeks and this was my one day off for the next month. Not only did the receptionists put a sour taste in my mouth I had to waste 6 gallons of gas to get there and back.

The environment is clean and peaceful, the products used are gentle and smell wonderful and the pricing is good - a great way to take a break that enhances health and appearance!

I spent YEARS suffering from acne. As my last hope before attempting Acutane I went to Allure to try their acne facial. Marta the esthetician, was very sympathetic and understanding of what I was going through. She did an amazing job extracting my acne - she is VERY thorough and provided me with skincare advise. After my skin healed from my facial I saw a MAJOR difference. Marta even called me a few days later to check up on me and see how my face was doing. So I kept returning every other month. Now after 3 years and 1 baby later I continue to see Marta for maintenance. People who meet the present me can't even believe I had bad acne. My skin is clear and smooth. I also feel confident and I don't worry about my face anymore. Marta is amazing. She is kind, friendly and absolutely sincere. She loves what she does and the results of that are evident. I will not let anyone else touch my face.

I enjoy the massage that I schedule nearly every time I go to Anchorage. The quality is good and the staff great. I forgot my bracelet in the pocket of the robe and they found it for me even though they have the posted policy that they aren't responsible for left items. I have also had a pedicure here on several occasions and that was very good and the polish lasted a long time without chipping. I have had at least three haircuts here, and I only cut my hair about once a year at the most. I liked all of the styles and cuts. Soo. Good job Allure Day Spa.

A beautiful salon with top notch amenities, but the massage left me lacking. It seems like a lot of money to go and feel like all you ended up with was someone who applied lotion. I will admit that they worked the knots out of my shoulders, but for 50 minutes I feel like I had enough knots going in that at least one or two more could have been worked out. But if you have dry skin, this is certainly a good way to take care of that.

I have been there twice, years apart. The first time was for a pregnancy massage. After I was undressed and in my robe, I was told to wait in an upstairs lobby and I was there for over 45 minutes! So many people walked by but no one talked to me. I almost left but it had been a gift from my husband. Finally an unprofessional woman, sorta punk-rock-ish, came in and gave me a very light-touch massage (no harder than running your hand over someone's skin). My back was so sore from pregnancy, I was in real need of a deep tissue to correct it. I kept telling her but I think she was afraid to hurt me. The massage lasted no more than 35 minutes and it was supposed to be an hour long (I assumed it was because she was late). Fail. I was so disappointed I just said thank you and left. The second time, years later, I was getting makeup done for a wedding. I asked for fake lashes for a real Marylin Monroe look. Disaster! I got what looked like a teen, she started to put mascara on me, then said "Could you just take this to the bathroom and put it on, then come back? You could do it better than me." Then she tried to put the fake lashes on AFTER with the glue and all. I could hear her quietly pleading with another girl to do it, I was so embarrassed. It didn't even rest on my lash line, but above... glue everywhere. I paid $50 for that, left and tried to fix it but it was unfixable. I took all of it off and started over, had to get lashes and lash glue from the drug store and was barely ready in time for the wedding. By the way, when I did it myself, it looked fantastic!! Five stars to me!

I paid for a 80 minute deep tissue massage. I time my massages, the massge was only 1hour. They shortened it by 20 minutes. This is not the 1st time either. So if i were you, time your massages. Also, It was not deep tissue, she only did it medium deep on my back the the rest of the massage was something my husband could have done at home (when he's lazy). Not very happy with this place.

The first time I went to Allure, I walked out with one of the most fabulous hair cuts and highlights I’ve ever had. It was cute, used my natural short waves, and was subtly highlighted. It looked like I’d just come back from an expensive tropical vacation! So I drove seven hours to go back, after a two year hiatus. I paid extra to have their “master” stylist, since I haven’t had a haircut in a few years. I asked for a haircut and highlights. What I ended up with is literally ALL of my hair being dyed in alternating rows of red and bleach blonde. I look like a radioactive zebra. I’m now going to have to pay hundreds more to have another salon fix this this garbage. She spent 2 hours dying my hair and about 5 minutes cutting 4” of dead ends off. Didn’t refresh my haircut in any way. Just trimmed what was already there. That’s not a haircut by a master styling. That’s a trim. She then insisted on blow drying my hair even after I told her I don’t normally do that because “I like to give my clients styles they’ve never tried before!” How am I supposed to see if I like this haircut if you style it in a way that I literally never will?! When I said I didn’t like my hair, she said “well, then I guess you don’t like highlights.” THESE ARE NOT HIGHLIGHTS. THESE ARE LITERAL STRIPES.

I've been coming here for years--every time I'm in Manhattan. This spa does not disappoint! All the professionals are amazing from facials to massage to wax to hair to nails! I especially recommend Marta. She's an amazing esthetician. Also book with Christiana for massage. She works very hard to get all the kinks and knots out and make you feel better. The spa always has a clean and relaxing atmosphere. Also very fun for bridal and birthday parties.

I don’t typically write bad reviews but when you give something as a gift for a special occasion it can be frustrating when the company doesn’t take care of business. Booked a treatment for a gift, spoke to the rep and she said it’s booked. She showed up, no appointment! Then they blamed her for not getting a confirmation! This was supposed to be relaxing but it turned out super stressful for everyone. Not a good experience, they just keep playing the blame game! Blaming us for their screw up! It’s one thing to mess up, but to blame it on your customers? Not a good way to conduct business. I have to say, they recognized the issue and took care of us. I wasn’t after anything but an I’m sorry, and a fix for a flawed system. They comped the appointment and she still has credit for another appointment so I’m okay with it. I still wish they would’ve handled it differently from the beginning but they made it right at the end. Hopefully things go a little better on the next visit.

8/17- My original review from yrs before is below. Today was my last time going to Allure. I went to Allure as a birthday gift from my husband as I had been there before and enjoyed their services. While it will mean nothing to Allure to lose me as a client, I would like them to know my issue is not with the services I received but by the way I was treated by Lana at the end of the appointment. My husband went to Allure, paid for services for my daughter and me and was specific that the charge for the haircut was for my daughter only. When we arrived today I specifically told Lana I wanted to do color and that I would pay for it since my husband had paid for my daughter. At the end there was an issue with the charge even though I did not get a service i was scheduled for and was told how they spent more time on my and my daughter’s hair because of the length and texture and was therefore charged more for the hair services. Lana- my hair for the record is not coarse, is thinning (to the point your stylist said I had lost a lot of it) and took all of 10mins to dry. And i did not get a “haircut” as in styling but got my ends trimmed because I was told they were split. My Daughter for whom you always charge extra had been getting her hair styled elsewhere and Nubi even asked if we had straightened it because it was easier for her to dry. She does have a lot of hair- I give you that. But the manner in which you view me and my daughter is not correct. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I love- love-love the staff at Allure. My daughter and I both get styled by Nube and if you ever want a great stylist who is familiar with "ethnic" hair she is it. My daughter's hair is very curly and frizzy and she tames it every time. My daughter is very picky about who she lets do her hair so when she actually asked to go back to Nube I was shocked. But we both love Nube. Fanny has also done a great job on my hair in the past. Veronica gives the best massage as she washes your hair and Christina was wonderful when I did my facial.

Here in Anchorage for and extended business trip and I needed a hair cut and pedi. Getting your haircut while traveling is always risky, but in this instance the gamble paid off. Nicki did a phenomenal job cleaning up my edgy razor cut bob. She has mad skill. My pedi by Elizabeth is just what I needed. My heels were torn up as a result of the very dry climate here. I had a pedi the previous week somewhere else and the callous treatment was abysmal. Elizabeth got right to work and had my feet soft and smooth in no time. She asked me what I would like to happen with my hair... I don't get my hair done often so I had no idea... After having some less than stellar spa experiences I can honestly say that this place is beyond accommodating. I came here on a Tuesday for a facial and a trim and was taken in right away. At least three upbeat staff members offered me something to drink (your choice of tea, coffee, champagne, water) and provided a fresh towel and robe. I was especially pleased with the facial because Marta is a pro at extraction. I am highly sensitive to pain and yet it was minimal and bearable. Parts of my face were red for two days, but that is expected from any facial so plan accordingly for some down time. The end result is well worth it. She was sensitive to my needs and recommended a skin care regimen specific to my skin type. I will definitely be returning. As far as the haircut goes, I didn't get an elaborate cut or style, but I will say that my hair was not cut too short which is always a concern of mine. I am coming back for a couples massage and I highly recommend this setting for groups. Very clean, professional, and friendly staff!

What an amazing experience- the staff at Allure are so kind and friendly and have no hesitation answering any questions. The atmosphere is subtly soft and welcoming, making it perfect for relaxing. I arrived early and sat in the waiting room, enjoying tea in my robe and listening to soft background music. The changing areas were secure and clean, and had an area with complimentary hair tools for sprucing up before leaving. Josh was a very talented massage therapist, as well as very kind and friendly. He is very open to feedback and will let you relax in silence, vent about your day, chitchat, or even teach you about massage as he goes. I've never met a massage therapist who was able to adequately work out the tension in my shoulders, but Josh rose to the challenge and I was immensely impressed. Would absolutely recommend Allure and Josh to anyone who needs a relaxing and healing day and I will definitely be back!

This was my first time at this Day spa, and I did check out a lot of the reviews directly after my visit. Something I regret now :( It seems they get great reviews for some of their massage and other treatments. I received a gift card and have an up coming event so decided to get a manicure and pedicure($85.00 pedicure!!!). For $85 I expected a lot, I almost down graded it because of the huge price tag I thought there was no way it could be that GREAT. I was right, I have had a way better pedicure from the salon at Wal-Mart for $30 or from the little places in the mall!!! While the girl was pleasant, friendly, likeable and everything, I didn't get a massage of any kind, there is still dry skin on my heels and I got an express manicure along with my $85 pedicure. At the end I was sent to sit for 20 minutes where no one ever checked my nails again, I had to roll my pant legs back down my self ruining my fresh nail polish even though I sat there for over 20 minutes. I was told my entire spa treatment would take 1 hour 40 minutes I checked in at 11, waited for about 5 minute and was done waiting for my toes to dry by maybe 5 after noon. So my $85 pedicure along with my $35 express manicure, $120 spa treatment was over in less than an hour. Unless that 20 minutes by myself sitting on the couch counts as spa treatment. Oh yeah for a high end salon I wasn't shown the bathroom, offered a beverage, or anything. While they had some beverages out I helped my self after I saw them and walked around to find the bathroom while I waited. The experience was just not what I expected from what is considered a high end salon with a high end price tag. I will not return or recommend them to anyone.

Christina gave me the most wonderful massage in a quiet room full of candles and dimmed lights. A truly zen, surreal experience given we're in the middle of Manhattan. I went here to get my hair highlighted. I have gone before and they did a fine job. However, this was a very young and inexperienced stylist. I take extreme caution with my hair because I love it so much, I never have ever used box dye and I never use heat or bad shampoo. But then, for all of my hard work and caution this stylist fried my hair. It became coarse and dry, not only that but my highlights looked bad. I have very long hair and I don't want to cut it. Because my hair was so coarse and dry, I developed a disease called Trichotillomania where I pull my hair out. I struggle with it every day, and I think about it constantly. If I had just gone somewhere else, I would not be stuck with a harmful mental condition.

I've had intense lower back pain for years and was so surprised to find relief during my Vinchy massage this past weekend. Gordon Willis has mastered the art of combining massage therapy, acupuncture, and chiropractic care into a pain-less muscle healing technique. Once I finish moving I plan on going back for a few follow up sessions that should hopefully permanently end my lower back pain! Not only was he able to pin point the areas of pain, but he used pressure points to relieve the sore muscles. I was truly shocked and amazed that his techniques worked!!! A good friend set up my Vinchy massage with Gordon and I would definitely recommend requesting him when setting up a massage at Allure. Thanks Gordon!

This is my favorite spot for spa services. They are so gracious and really exhibit a genuine interests in you! They listen empathetically and remember your preferences--taking the initiative to respond to any possible concerns or needs that may arise during your visit. For example, during my first visit when asked what I would like to drink, I responded "Peppermint tea." At my next visit, she remembered this preference when approaching me (this with approximately a month after my first visit)! Time stops here--and that's saying a lot in a fast paced city like New York. There are no visual reminders of time and no rush in their service. They take their time, even pausing to ask and provide you with a beverage or light snack in between. There is no hurriedness around your departure either! You can actually sit and enjoy the relaxing ambiance and their continued service while waiting for your mani-pedi to dry. Best place ever! So grateful to have found this little gem.

Rose, Senior Massage Therapist, was fantastic. I got an 80 minutes massage from her after she's been certified in Lomi Lomi style. It was so relaxing. The technique reminded me of waves breaking on a shoreline. I usually need a lot of pressure for massages-deep tissue is usually what I ask for. She was able to apply steady, unwavering pressure for the full 80 minutes and really worked out muscle tension for me. Somewhat unrelated to the massage but still important: she's very personable. Went this last summer and the stylist fried my hair when all I wanted was a balayage and wanted it LIGHT blonde. I got very yellow fried hair that ruined my hair! Also it took her 6 hours appoinment was at 9 am and didn’t get out till 2pm. I recently had to cut six inches off and my new stylist said my hair was so bad before. Not coming back! Allure Day Spa is the only place in NYC that I trust for a good facial. They correctly analyzed my skin as dry, sensitive and prone to breakouts. Allure does a great job of cleaning out my pores, and leaving me with healthy skin. Most other spas (even after I tell them my skin is prone to blackheads and breakouts) just slather a lot of expensive creams and oils on my face, which clogs my pores and leads to a breakout a few days after the treatment. Allure is the only spa that gets it right for my skin. Both Marta and Kathy are excellent to work with!

Worst service I've had in my entire life. My stylist was very rude. The first thing she did was insult my hair, then complain about having to work on it because it will "take too long" & she "didn't know [I] wanted a balayage" though I was very clear on the phone. Also, she was distracted by her phone+husband from the beginning of my appointment. To top that all off, she accidentally sprayed me with the water while shampooing which ruined my clothing & makeup. Most ridiculous time of my life & i still had to pay an outrageous price. Hair looked alright in the end but would not recommend this place to anyone.

There is plenty of room for improvement in service and communication. There was a lot of waiting without an explanation of why or details of what was happening next. Also there didn't seem to be a lot of flexibility. We reserved 3 hours for our sizable party ahead of time. But when we tried to tweak our services, they seemed reluctant to allow for any change, even tho only 10 minutes had passed since we turned our requests in. It would have been nice to receive confirmation when we first made the request online. Despite all this, the massage I had was great!

I booked an appointment two weeks in advance, showed up and waited for 20 minutes only for the front desk person to come tell me that unfortunately they can't get ahold of the therapist who was supposed to do my massage. When asked to speak to the manager she was "off the clock for the day". This is the most rediculous service I have ever had in my entire life. I don't recommend this place to anyone. Not only are they way over priced but they give crap service. Unbelievable!

Terrible. They covered me in something I was deathly allergic to and then didn't apologize. I asked for one treatment and was given something not even on the menu. Like a bait and switch. The manager is manipulative. Completely incompetent staff. Overpriced. They had no protocol in place for allergic reactions. No filing an incident report. They just pretended like it didn't happen. They don't even have you fill out any information.

For the price you pay at this very overrated spa you should get a lot more for your money. Do not waste your time here, there are better places to get a massage in Anchorage. The last massage I received here was a pregnancy massage, the room was so warm the masseuse was sweating, it was uncomfortable. The massage itself was just okay. The changing room was dirty from peoples' shoes and the process of using a garment bag to store your clothes and personal items needs to be reconsidered.

didn't really like that michelle had forgotten the wrap towel and then forgot the astringent that your supposed to put on after the wax. then she was my pedicurist. nice atmosphere very relaxing. I guess i had three missed appointment i have never been sent an email or anything on the matter. so when you have three missed appointments theres a 50% surcharge before the appointment. They have an a tea thats so deliscious it doesnt need any sugar. They also have coffee and vanilla creamer. I went in for a buttox wax. They have a towel and wipes on the table. No pain. I was told by another waxer to put oil on the area an hour before and your wax should be virtually painless. When you walk up the stairs on the firts room rifht right wjen you walk into the waxing roo. If you look to the roght theres some purple hair dye and it looks like some wax stuck on the wall by the front right corner of the wall. The waxer told me that sje told Allure they need to repaint the walls

We had a great experience here. It was a bachelorette party and they were able to accommodate 10+ girls getting mani/pedis, massages, blow outs, and hair coloring. We were able to relax while sipping mimosas and spend time chatting and catching up. The woman in charge was very helpful and accommodating, especially since part of our group showed up an hour late for their appointments. It was a fantastic afternoon, I will definitely recommend to friends and will return for more services.

I have been coming here for about 4-5yrs mainly for waxing. I have had massages and facials as well. The massage by Crystal was a few years ago but a wonderful experience as well as the red head woman which was more recent but I am not positive her name is Michelle. Michelle asked all the pertinent questions so that I left the session and all pains I had were gone! More recently Justina has the magic touch! Fran, I believe gave me a wonderful facial and explained how to maintain and use products purchased. Marta is my go to girl for waxing but I have used other girls like Margarita who are wonderful but recently a new girl Paula has beat them all! I must admit when I called to make my last min appointment I was leery of the name I never heard but you will not be disappointed! Paula has a little secret that absolutely changed my waxing experience! I will happily use new girl Paula again in a heartbeat!
