First of all, the owners are very nice and most of the staff is pretty friendly... The only complaint is the lighting sucks. Sitting under those flourescent lights for 8-13 hours a day is painful. pretty hypocritical for and esthetics school. they use the excuse that it is to prepare us for the "real world". Just what real world are they referring to? This IS the real world. And the reality is that for $10,000 smackaroos one would hope for a decent learning environment. The place is very shabby and run down and in need of a decent makeover. The other thing is that they only teach you enough to pass the state board. There is absolutely no creative room to develop a passion. I found the environment stifling to my creativity because the teachers hover over you all day long and that made it nerve wracking for me to try new makeup techniques and get into my creative flow.
One of the older teachers I found to be mean and arrogant at times. Luckily their best teacher, Andrea, was my main teacher. They treat you like you're already at the job. As one who is used to a college level quality education, I find it insulting to be held to silly rules and treated to and spoken to like a child. I honestly feel that the school has a lot of potential, and as much as I love the staff, there are some things that this program lacks and there is always room for improvement. They really need to stay informed on the latest creative trends and philosophies in the industry and inspire their students to do more than just learn enough to pass the state board.
