I had three services scheduled yesterday. The facial and massage were out of this world. However I cannot say the same for my hair cut. I literally have two inches of hair. I chose to come to this salon because all their services come highly recommend and I'm growing out my hair. The stylist who cut my hair could of cared less about what I was telling her. I had to tell her to trim my neck after she washed and conditioned my hair. I asked her to texture it as I have wavy curly hair. She did not. I could of gone to any place in town and gotten a more friendly person than her and paid 10.00 to cut my short hair. As a recommendation to this stylist, even if you don't care about someone elses hair, at least pretend like you do for the 10 min they are in your chair since they are paying 37 dollars.

I will talk to anyone who will listen about this amazing salon. I absolutely LOVE Corinna. I had her cut my hair all through school and still drive back to Lawrence from Kansas City for my appointments. She is worth it. I have thick, medium texture curly/wavy hair and, with Corinna, I finally found a stylist who understands how to deal with my hair. She can cut and style it perfectly whether it is long or short. She has helped me transition seamlessly from below the shoulder, to waist length, to cutting it all off for Locks of Love and back again. I have made believers of my mom, sister and friends who now all go to her. Worth the drive and worth the price.

Horrible Customer Services. Rude and unprofessional Hairstylist!!! Very uncomfortable atmosphere. Not kid friendly!!! My stylist was great, friendly and very helpful, so we decided to keep coming back in hopes that things would change. After a year of this, I am sick of this kind of treatment we continue to receive and will NEVER return to this salon again!!! I would not recommend this place!!! Ive had multiple hairstyles scold my school aged kids while I stood there watching my children. On our first visit to the salon my kids had been playing with one of the very few toys they had out. The hairstylist thought that they were talking and playing too loud and it was distracting. Let me add that anyone that has set foot in this salon knows that when someone just talks normal, as my kids had been doing, there is a eco and besides that each time there has been maybe one other client in the salon. Anything would sound loud in this place. So then, the hairstylist asked them very rudely to put away the toys. When we returned to the salon, ALL 3 of their toys had been removed. We made sure to bring our own entertainment, iPad, so that was fine. On a different occasion, we decided to use another girl since our normal girl was booked and we needed our haircut. My daughter choose to sit next to my son while he got his haircut. There was no other clients in the salon and the girl didn't tell her she couldn't, so we thought it wasn't a big deal. My daughter started twirling in the chair, I did not think this was a problem. She wasn't harming anything or one and was keeping quite. Very rudely yet again, the hairstylist that was cutting my sons hair, turned and looked at her with a nasty look and told her to stop. She could of asked kindly and she would of stopped no problem. Instead I asked her to come sit with me in the waiting area, she did as told with no problem. On this same day, later on, we had another girl give my kids the evil eyes, while following us around, making rude comments under her breathe. My kids and I had been following our hairstylist as she was showing and offering us the different products. The kids were right next to us the whole time and were playing, rock paper scissors, I guess she thought it was distracting and loud. I didn't think so and neither did our hairstylist. When I went to pay, I made sure I told the receptionist about what had happened. While I was talking to the receptionist the girl that I was complaining about, left her client, just to sit underneath the cut out window to listen in on what I was complaining about. In conclusion, I would not recommend this place if you have children!!!

I stand corrected!!! Within an hour of sharing my disappointment I received a call from the owner who apologized for the error and made it right! I will be leaving for vacation with glowing skin! Thank you for your prompt response and for addressing my concerns! I appreciate this salon and thoroughly enjoy my facials with Tiffanie. I prebook my next appt when I leave. Made an appt weeks ago for a facial today (am leaving on vacation) Called to see if I might come in a bit earlier and was told they had no appt for me and there was nothing that could be done. I understand mistakes happen but was disappointed at the total lack of any recognition that the salon made an error or any offer to make it right. All I got was “we dont have you scheduled for today or anytime in the future - do you want to make an appt.?” Attitude is everything in customer service, so disappointed.

Best of Lawrence for a good reason. I've gone for a manicure, hair cuts, hair colors, and waxing. If you're ever dissatisfied they are more than happy to fix it. Just let them know. Employees also seem well-treated, which is important. They retail the products they use, and my stylist helped me pick out shampoo, conditioner, and two daily hair products. I love the products. Not cheap, but worth it. Especially if you've spent your money coloring, don't wash it out with a cheap shampoo! They are also professional and personable, so it's a good place to go if you've never tried something before, because they will talk to you in plain English and really determine what you want and expect, as well as what they are doing.

I've been to Salon Di Marco four times now—once for a wax and the other times for a haircut. I've made the appointments online every time; their online booking system is really easy to use and very convenient. Sarah has cut my hair twice, and she always works very quickly and my hair has always turned out exactly the way I want it to. She's very friendly and always asks questions as she goes to ensure that you like the way your hair looks. I've lived in Lawrence for 5 and a half years now, and I've consistently gotten the best haircuts of my life at Salon Di Marco. The owner did my wax. She was friendly, and patient with my wincing every time she pulled the wax strips off. She made friendly conversation the whole time, and she too worked very quickly, though she waited to make sure I was all right before continuing after a particularly painful segment of waxing. The building interior is very clean, well-decorated, and comfortable as well, and the building itself is not difficult to find (it's right on Mass Street). The prices are very reasonable. I plan to go back again whenever I need a another haircut or wax (or any of the other services they offer). Would definitely recommend to anyone who asks! :)

I hesitate to mention how amazing my recent massage was, lest I have to compete with you for a massage appointment one day. I suffered a minor "issue" while acting way younger than I am, and doing far too many pull-ups. I called around looking for a savior that could fit me in to work some magic on my aching shoulder, and I was lucky enough to stumble across Kristi at Salon Di Marco. The salon was clean, and nice, and the staff was friendly. When I met Kristi, she was very professional, and extremely knowledgeable about the pain I was experiencing. The room was a perfect temperature, CLEAN, and comfortable and the soft music rounded out my initial impression. For such a tiny little thing, this girl has got some POWERFUL hands!! She knew precisely what she was doing, and applied just enough pressure to work her magic without unnecessary pain, but enough to work out my jacked up muscles. This was probably the quickest hour of my life, as I would love to have spent the rest of the afternoon lying on her table getting the kinks worked out! All kidding aside, I have had lots and LOTS of massages in my life, and Kristi is a glowing stand out that may very well take top honors when it comes to her ability to intuitively locate and "work-out" any muscular issues you may be experiencing. Do yourself a favor, go pull a muscle, or over do it in the yard, then go see Kristi! Tell her Don sent ya ;)

If you don't want to have eyebrows, then this is definitely your place to get them waxed! Otherwise, I do not recommend getting your eyebrows waxed at this place. I had a British girl who was very nice, but she botched my eyebrow leaving them uneven and not fixable. The place was friendly but the quality was horrid. Worst 17 dollars spent ever.

I have been wanting to go purple for at least 2 years. this past December i finally decided i was going to do it. after lots of research and talking to one of my friends whose step mom works here I decided this was the place! this salon is beautiful and I love the atmosphere. However, the red head at the front desk was not very welcoming, but I was quickly met by dakota who would be coloring my hair. she greeted me with a smile and handshake before going to her chair. I came in with some ideas but she definitely brought it to life and did better than I expected. other stylists said how good it looked and I will definitely be going back to add more purple in or even silver! throughout the 4 hours I was there I felt completely comfortable. great music too!

The way the owner treats an unhappy customer is very unprofessional. If the owner is going to handle an upset customer he should not interrupt them, over talk them, or treat them with disrespect. Part of being a good and professional owner is sucking up your attitude and treating the customer with respect.

I called ahead to see if they had a stylist who can work with natural hair.. the girl on the phone said yes and booked me with someone. Boy was that a lie ! - the stylist that I got maybe said a MAX of 20 words to me the whole hour I was there - the stylist tried to comb my wet , natural hair with a fine tooth comb !!! I had to tell her to switch tools - when starting my blow dry , she pulls out a rolling brush that is NOT meant to be used in African American hair because it causes breakage -she used direct HIGH heat blow drying my hair and wouldn’t detangle sections before blow drying so it was just a lot of her tugging this rolling brush through my head - I couldn’t trust her to touch my hair any further and ended the appointment early I’m sure they’re a decent salon .. they just aren’t able to effectively cater to clients with black hair

My mom, sister, and I had a ladies day out to get hair cuts here in January. We had appointments booked over a week in advance. Arrived early, but still had a small wait. Each of us had friendly stylists and loved our end results. Prices were fair for the area. Unsure of other services or products as we only went for the haircuts that day, but did note the spa area for future reference!

I've had quite a few sessions with Massage Therapist Jessica, who is excellent and has the best neck routine ever. Being a therapist myself, I love knowing that if I want my body to completely relax, starting an hour massage with Jessica's neck routine is my preferred way. I love her lomi lomi hour massage routine. I only wish that the accommodations for the massage therapists were more efficient at Di Marcos. While I am trying to relax on the table, the music, which is piped in to several rooms, not just my room, is too loud and it takes the therapist a LONG time to leave the room to turn it down. The room is very dark, which is soothing, but the music is never low enough for me.. The table is not super padded, so when I am face down, it is not the best comfort, add to that a lot of deep pressure on the back work, and not the best comfort for the upper body and neck. The tables are not automatically adjustable so the therapist is stuck with one height for the entire massage. One time when I did online scheduling, I selected add on body butter and the online scheduler only scheduled body butter and not a massage, so that when I arrived, after paying a parking meter, I was told what happened and no compensation or discount was offered! I didn't get a massage that day.

As a frequent client I have to say there is no better aesthetician in Lawrence than Tiffany! Waxing can seem scary at first, but Tiffany is extremely quick, efficient, personable, and very diligent. I’ve appreciated her professionalism and friendship over the years!

The salon is a nice space, simple but classy. This was our first visit, so we haven't sampled many of their services. My daughter got a haircut, plus color that required lightening her hair before dying it. Karen did a great job and was also very personable. My daughter loves her new hairstyle. I thought the price was quite reasonable, especially for Lawrence, which tends to run a bit on the pricey side. As an added bonus, if you pay your bill in cash, the salon will donate the money that would have gone to the credit card company to the Lawrence Humane Society. Pretty cool!

I was on the fence for a long time about coloring my hair and finally decided to just do it (and get a hair cut). After some online searching, I decided on salon di marco and got an appointment with Sydney, she is an absolute expert! I showed her the color I was wanting to go for and what I ended up with was something way beyond what I was expecting. There is so much dimension in my hair color I didn't expect at all and although I got more of a trim, she did an excellent job with that as well, exactly what I wanted and didn't even know I wanted but it's perfect. She really listened to me and took the time to show me options and even pick out the undertone color which like I said, came out better than I ever expected. Also, she gave me her honest opinions while not making me feel pressured to choose something I didn't want. If you're looking for a new do, Sydney is your girl! Love, love, love it...

UPDATE: I walked into the Beautiful Salon Di Marco to get my supposedly racially charged refund, and Mr. Carlos (who wouldn't tell me his last name on the phone) came out to see me, a "racist" Latina there to greet him .he hung his head in shame when I told him my heritage and that I was formally saying his first name in our shared native language because he was so rude to me on the phone. He did not apologize for making his rude remarks or racially charged assumption that I am white because I took my husband's last name. He spelled my name wrong on the refund receipt and I asked him to correct it because the card belongs to a business account and I need exact detailed records for our taxes. He then proceeded to get frustrated and Say "Jesus Christ" because I asked him to correct it . When he spelled my first name wrong the SECOND TIME I asked for another correction. he then said the Lord's name in Vain a second time in front of another customer. Mr. Carlos has no respect for his customers and with his pompous attitude, distasteful language, poor people skills and horrible phone etiquette. And then presumptuously using racism as a defense for His completely rude miscommunication on the phone when I was asking questions about pricing. His employees seem very nice, friendly, and helpful. But "Mr. Carlos" (since saying it in Spanish is racist) has to be the most tactless small business owner I have ever encountered. I'm pretty sure one of his stylst has her own shop now, so I'm gonna take my business to her cuz I could understand why anyone wouldnt to want to work for someone so arrogant and ignorant at the same time. I haven't been in yet, got a 100$ gift certificate for Christmas though. And I will say after speaking to "Carlos" on the phone I'm not excited about going here either. I have very thin and fine hair, meaning I don't have alot of hair at all .I called inquiring about a wash cut and highlight . To find out that Carlos charges 85-95$ for highlights, no matter how much product they have to use. The 10$ differential goes to the the stylist depending on their experience. In Carlos' exact words if someone has 2-5 years of exp. It's 85 dollars. If someone has 25 years of experience, it's 95$ .now I don't know about y'all. But I'd say that's absolutely ridiculous pricing, to not even consider factoring the price with the product usage that way some one with extremely thin hair pays the same price for haighlights as someone who has so much hair, they break hair ties. That's A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN PRODUCT USAGE FOR THE SAME PRICE. My second issue with that is why is some with 20+ years of exp. Only making 10$ more than someone with 2-5 years experience. Other high end salons I have been to I made an appointment for a hair consultantion, and they start by assessing the length, texture, and thickness of my hair to predict the amount of product and time it will take, then the price fluctuates from person to person depending on those three specifications of a person's hair. So I with my tiny amount of thin hair will be charged the same as some with thick long hair who will use twice the amount of product for highlights. It's absolutely ridiculous. And when I asked these questions to Senor Carlos, he was rude, interrupting me, and said that I was insulting him by asking such questions. Can't wait to come in a use a 100$ gift certificate to have my hair washed for 32$ and have 1 1/2 inches of split ends cut off for 45$. What a joke.

I can see why this place was voted best of Lawrence, KS. I went in here without any knowledge of this place, didn’t look at any reviews, didn’t even look at the website. I called and made the appointment. The receptionist was so friendly and booked me. Morgan was my hair stylist. And she did an amazing job, super friendly and knowledgeable. She let me just tell her how I wanted my hair and didn’t get offended at all. I’ve been to some who tried to tell me what to get and I wasn’t having it. I recently spent a "spa day" here with a friend and the experience was AMAZING from start to finish. I had my very first massage and facial, along with a mani and pedi. Every person I interacted with was warm, friendly, and helpful. The environment was lovely and relaxing. It felt like making sure we were comfortable and happy was the top priority. Being an out of state student and having the same hair dresser since I was 12 made me nervous to try any place new. I was recommended by a friend to try out this salon but was a little worried because some of the reviews online were not the best. They ended up booking me an appt two days from when I called, which was a big reason I chose this place over another, seeing I am not very patient lol Hands down was the best salon visit I have ever had! Including the place I used to go since I was a preteen. I wanted kind of a drastic change to my hair color and cut. Nicolette was more than fantastic! She was so nice, let me babble on about what I wanted, let me be super picky, gave me some great advice for getting exactly what I wanted, taught me ways to style it, and throughout the entire visit was great to talk to. My hair turned out UH-mazing. This will definitely be my new regular salon ! Seriously cannot rave about them enough! And I highly highly recommend Nicolette!

My massage was super unrelaxing. The lady kept talking through my entire massage. Asked me about my hobbies what Netflix shows I liked stuff like that. Every time there was silence she felt like she needed to fill it. Which I thought was super rude. If I'm not asking questions, take the hint that I don't want to engage. I work with the public everyday. I just wanted an hour of silence for once in my busy life. I'm pretty sure that's why I paid $85, to relax and unwind. She just made me mad the whole time by asking me questions about my life. Unfortunately I'm not the type to tell a person I don't want to talk, I usually just give short answers and hope they take the hint. She didn't. So I'll be going elsewhere.

Salon di Marco is a great place. I cannot testify for their hair services, but I get Bikini waxes with Lara every four weeks because she is absolutely fantastic at her job. I got waxes all over the place but I was never as satisfied with the result as with her. She absolutely loves what she does and that certainly reflects in her work. Although she knows what I want she always verifies with me and makes sure we're on the same page. It's always a pleasant experience to go to the salon. Every one is nice and I'm usually in and out within 25 minutes. So I absolutely recommend di Marco.

This was my first time here after being haircut free for over a year. After 20 years in the Air Force, long hair is not something I am used to. Corrina ("Carina" means "pretty" in Italian) was very nice and she did a great job with what she had to work with ... my hair. She washed my hair, cut it, and blew it dry, spending about 30 minutes overall ($25 + tip). The salon is in an old building downtown, occupying a large space two stores wide, with 12 foot ceilings and an old decorative copper ceiling (which could use a paint job by the way). Greeted as I walked in, my only complaint being that the nice pair of older ladies were offered tea by the receptionist while I was merely instructed to "have a seat". Overall, a nice experience and fair value, I will return, maybe getting a tea next time? CombatCritic Gives Salon DiCarlo 7 Bombs Out of 10 ... BOMBS ARE GOOD!

I have fallen in love with Salon Di Marco. I go there for all of my beauty services: manicures, pedicures, massages, hair cut/color. I have never once had a bad experience there. Every person who has worked with me has been nothing short of an absolute delight. The atmosphere is soothing, and you are always welcome to a cup of hot tea. The main reason I get my hair cut at Salon Di Marco is because they are not afraid to suggest new ways to cut my hair if I ask for advice. I used to have very long hair, and this was the first place where I found people who weren't afraid to take scissors to it and cut it how I wanted. Everyone is knowledgeable, helpful, hospitable, and they all obviously love their jobs.

I went in for a 60-minute massage, and my entire experience here was fantastic! The salon/seating area where I filled out paperwork is chic and trendy, and the staff were very friendly. The spa & massage area is located in the back, and the ambiance is so relaxing and comfortable. My massage therapist, Kristi, was very friendly and attentive, and my massage was wonderful. At the end, she also gave me a coupon for $10 off of my next massage. I will definitely be going back!

I went to Salon Di Marco for haircuts initially. Every stylist I got was amazing, never a bad experience. It seems they have high turn over, as every time I went to a stylist they were gone by the next time I wanted a haircut. The best part of Salon Di Marco, however, is their massage therapists. They ALL are amazing, I've had massages from every one. I chose Danielle (Dee) as my consistent therapist. She always remembered how I liked my massages, and always had everything ready for me specifically. She's extremely professional, caring, and flexible. She's just the best, definitely go see her. It's so relaxing, the massage rooms are clean and comfortable. I moved away from Lawrence, so I unfortunately can't go to her anymore, but I go back when I come to visit!

She also did my hair and listened to and talked with me to figure out the best style.
