Being in need of a haircut and not wanting to go to one of the expensive salons, I took a chance on a Groupon with Luxury Salon & Spa. The salon and by extension Alla, the stylist, had received very high yelps from several reviews and mostly positive comments on Google and based on that information, I thought it safe to visit her. Unfortunately I received the worst haircut I have ever had. Even my husband, who is typically oblivious how my haircut is cut, agreed with my opinion.
I arrived at the salon on time and walked in. I spoke with Alla as to the way I wanted my hair cut and brought a picture which clearly showed the desired cut and style. She indicated at that point she had a headache and I expressed my sympathies. She washed my hair, brought me to her station and proceeded to give me a trim which is not what I asked for or was in the picture. I added new input and she cut my hair somewhat shorter but again, not enough. I thought she needed to see the picture so I began looking around and realized it was not at her station. I asked her where it was but she did not say anything. I began to get up to find it and she placed her fingers on my shoulder to hold me in place and indicated we did not need it. I had to ask her twice more to cut my hair shorter at the back of my neck. When finished with the cut and blow dry, she removed the cape but did not offer me a mirror so I could see the back of my head. When I got home and took a look, it was obvious why she did not; it looked like a page boy and was not cut upward in layers. The sides were not trimmed enough and they simply hung straight.
I have made an appt at one of the salons I have gone to in the past to undo her damage. I will cut my own hair before using Alla ever again. What I have learned is that the great yelp and google reviews cannot be trusted. It is possible the headache Alla had contributed to the poor haircut and had she called me beforehand or even when I arrived, I would have been glad to reschedule.
I would urge Groupon to change their procedure and sample the product or service before offering it. . This has left a bad taste in my mouth and will affect which, service/product, if any; I buy from them going forward. In addition, Google should also consider ways to legitimize comments left at their site for future users.
