I love Serenity Day Spa. The staff is not only friendly and helpful, they are very talented. I do not consider my experience here a luxury but rather a necessity, I have gone for massages on a regular basis for more than a year. I have shoulder issues and they have actually done a better job of relieving the soreness and strain I carry everyday than the many times I've gone for Physical Therapy treatments prescribed by my doctor. They know what they are doing. I also go for Ultra Calming facials on a regular basis. These soothing facials rejuvenate my skin without causing redness or blotches that often occur with facials if the correct products are not used. Serenity Day Spa is a little jewel in Jersey City. I recommend it to just about anyone at any age. It's also a great gift to give to family or friends that you really care about.

I got a deal from Groupon which includes 60 min couple massage and two foot scrubs in here. Stuff were nice but they gave us only 50 min massage and they didn’t give foot scrub which i paid already. After session i didn’t feel more relaxed or satisfied.

ATTENTION ALL: Please review YELP reviews before going to SERENITY DAY SPA. My mistake: I only read the GOOGLE reviews. Went for couples massage: HORRIBLE experience here. I only gave one star because I had to. This was not through GROUPON. 1. Independent massage therapists working under owners of the buisness who have no idea what is going on. Buisness was purchased by parents for their daughter who is an absent manager, so no recourse or resolution can be made. 2. Sloppy massages, cut us short on our time, massage actually felt abusive with therapist "Summer". 3. Therapists talked during most of the session, loud, rude, and condescending. 4. Racial undertones expressed verbally and non verbally throughout massage. We felt discriminated against because we are a bi-racial couple. *** This is not a place to go and relax, only to get jipped, have a sloppy massage, have the worst massage ever, and be profiled. ********THE REVIEWS HERE ON GOOGLE cannot possibly be fact. The review from "Horhay" lol, this is not how George is spelled in Espanol!!! All of the reviews on YELP echo very similar experiences as ours. Take this seriously and do not bring your buisness to this God Awful Spa....

Do not even bother with this place. I read all these comments about not being able to schedule an appointment with this place and thought they are just unlucky, NO ITS REAL. I was not able to reach this place for two days and when I finally got to talk to someone, they told me they are fully booked for the next 2weeks, only availability would be at 4:45 on Wed or Fri - I’m not sure who will go to spa in the middle of the work. I got my voucher on Groupon, not sure if that’s the reason. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ROOM TO TAKE PPL FROM GROUPON, JUST TAKE IT DOWN AND SAVE PPL SOME TROUBLE WOULD YOU?

I must admit though...don't be late for your appointment, because they will deduct it from your session.

My experience was wonderful at Serenity. I don't think any business would let you use a coupon after 1 year of it expiring. If you buy a coupon or voucher you should use it when it says to use it. Stop picking on this wonderful business because you are to lame enough to use the coupon when it says so. I give this business and the staff 5 stars if I could. They are extremely professional and the massage therapists are amazing. I suffer from chronic back pain and every time I go here I feel so much better! My hats off to this wonderful gem. Don't listen to negative people Serenity they are just mad because they can't give over and not pay their bills!

I have brought a Groupon on April for this Spa. I have been calling literally every other day to schedule an appointment to come in and no one answers the phone. I finally got through to them after 3 weeks of calling and I even sent an email to be contacted. A male picked up the phone and he took my information down to give me a call back to schedule me "in " to a "busy" schedule they have until June. I am still waiting for a " call back " to be scheduled in and it's been a week already.

My husband and I like to enjoy a relaxing couples massage a couple times a year as a treat to ourselves. We had purchased a 60 minute couples massage through Groupon and scheduled our appointment for a Sunday afternoon. We arrived at the Spa, filled out our paperwork and went into the room with 2 massage therapists. The room lighting was the daylight coming in from the corners of the closed curtains, the temperature was very cold and the atmosphere was not a relaxing or romantic one like we were expecting since we have had couples massages before. We were asked what kind of pressure we wanted like usual, they both stepped out and we got onto our beds. The massage tables were standard wooden ones with a foam egg crate mat on them - not very comfy. During the massage the back of one leg was completely missed, there was no fabric cover on the plastic headrest - I had to ask for a towel to put on it so my face was comfy, there was no foot massage; this was supposed to be a full body massage and when we were finished they tried to charge us an extra $30 for our choice of pressure! Never had we experienced anything like this before and would not recommend this place to anyone. I did a review on Groupon and Serenity Day Spa responded with: "Deeper pressure costs more, you were alerted before you chose to upgrade, this industry is not a charity like food stamps like you're used too." We never upgraded anything, glad we said no when scented oils were offered, I'm sure that was an extra $50.

I was treated by a friend to facial here. I am a total beauty product/tool junkie and I've had many facials - this one was, by far, the BEST I've ever had. From the warm and friendly atmosphere when you walk in to the warm and friendly attitude of the facialist. Not to mention her skill level and knowledge. She knew exactly what my skin did and didn't need. It was the first time someone didn't try to upsell me a bunch of stuff too. Highly recommend!!!!

I wish I could leave a better review as the staff is so nice and friendly. Overall, the massage was great, with adequate pressure but the place was not clean. Not even close. I normally go to Massage Envy and I now know why others do as well. The waiting room was pleasant but the room where you get massages needs work. I took a few pictures because I was shocked to be honest. I expect a place where you are asked to remove cloths and get comfortable that it would be sanitary and clean. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I wish the establishment nothing but the best but i could never come back. I was so grossed out I barely made it through my massage.

I called to book a spa package for a very special friend and they were very friendly and helpful in booking the right package. My friend was treated very well and they explained everything as it was her first time. She had a very soothing and relaxing time, she loved the atmosphere and mentioned how polite everyone was. I went for a facial a few months ago (Groupon) and LOVED it - one of the best facials I've ever had. I went back last week (obviously, expectations were high) for a back-to-back massage and facial. The facial was good, but was not a full 60 minutes. The massage was also good - not great - and also was not a full 60 minutes.

I've been there twice. The first time was ok...but my last experience was horrible. I took a groupon for a 60 min swedish massage and a footscrub and scheduled an appointment with them. Just to schedule an appointment on Thursday for Sunday. I had to give all my details to two people. The first woman was very slow in taking all details so the manager Jamaal took over and finished the process. I specifically asked both of them for a female masseuse and they confirmed it. They gave me a confirmation call on Friday saying that my appointment was on saturday..which i said was not but I rescheduled it for Saturday anyway as I didn't mind making a little adjustment. When I went there on Saturday they had a male masseuse for me and when I said I asked for a female..they said they didn't have one for me and sent me back. The manager wasn't even there and another female Diane apologized and said it wasn't in her hands but still tried to give me an option for Sunday and said I could take any upgrades I wanted from their list of upgrades and said that she would be there personally. I went the next day and she wasn't there. But they did have a female masseuse this time. She was great but the I was told I could take an upgrade only on the massage I was getting. when I asked for a paraffin treatments..they said they had run out of paraffin...ofcourse!! The massage was great but the foot scrub was literally a scrub applied to my feet and washed without a massage. And let me tell you that it was included in the 60 mins of the massage. The whole experience was just annoyingly horrible and I will never go back there again..nor will I ever refer it to anyone!! I was told the manager would call me and apologize but I never got that call.

Where do I start!!!! I came in for a prenatal massage and Jamal took great care of me. I was feeling pretty beaten down by my pregnancy and two hours later I am still smiling and feeling refreshed . This place has a lovely intimate feel, and a warm ambiance and I will definitely continue to go here and receive service. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

My mothers day present was a day at the Spa. The customer service upon entry of Serenity Day Spa was amazing. Before the actual massage i was pampered with a glass of Mimosa. I was a little hesitant to purchase a Groupon for this place due to the less than stellar reviews, but I decided to try it anyway. I'm glad I did because I had a lovely experience. From making the appointment on the phone to the actual massage, everything went well. I did appreciate that I was advised about their cash only tip policy while I made my appointment as well as with the follow up reminder call. First off, the spa is small, but they make good use of their space. The lobby area is small but the zen lounge, while also small, is comfy and cozy with wonderful refreshments, including mimosas available for guests' enjoyment. I had a very good technician, Roneisha, who while not overly friendly, gave a great massage and was sure to check for my comfort with the pressure level several times. One negative is that I didn't have use of a locker room to change in and store my belongings. Also, no robe and slippers were offered. It would have been nice to relax in the lounge in a comfy robe and slippers. Otherwise, the atmosphere of the spa was relaxing and quiet and it smelled heavenly. I definitely plan to return.

I took my wife here last month for a couples massage and we had an amazing time. The owner was really great and had us booked right away. We were greeted by Shelby at the front desk. I had the lemon ginger tea and my wife had the mint. The masseuse that did my massage was fantastic and my wife's as well. This is our new go to spa. Price rates are also very affordable for such experienced staff. The spa was clean and smelt really good. Just overall fantastic experience we would reccomand to everyone.

I don't know whether fortunate or unfortunate that I never even got the opportunity to render services here. Talk about serenity, I've gotten a headache just trying to schedule. I called 2 weeks ago and was told all availability was already booked to call back in a few days because "couples massage" are only serviced Thursday-Sunday okay? So I called back when instructed to only reach a voicemail, I left a message and waited for a response which never happened. Today I called and was forwarded over to another voice recording stating that the phone system was down and couldn't take calls or voicemails...so I drove there! To only arrive and be told that once again they are completely booked! Well that was the end for me, customer service doesn't seem to be their specialty.

I just had an amazing time at Serenity Day Spa. I was so glad they could take me at the last minute. My back was killing me from all this snow. The front desk /reception is small but nice. I was nicely greeted by the manager, Jamahl who also turned out to be my therapist. I waited in the little Zen lounge that they have there and had refreshments. The actual session worked wonders for me. He focused on all the problem areas that I ask him to. He was very professional. During the session he was considerate and kind. The smells and the atmosphere were awesome. Thank everyone for a wonderful experience. I will be coming back and bringing friends.

Omg never been so sore after a Swedish massage, the therapist did not seem to know what she was doing. I wonder if the people giving the massages are even certified, because mine seemed more focused on how much her tip would be rather than giving a good massage, comp about prev clients not tipping enough etc. i left her a tip because she said she was pregnant and i felt bad for her, she tried but really gave a terrible massage. The place was nice but the need to TRAin This therapist Better!!! would not recommend, lest you get my same "therapist" and you will be sore the next day !!!!OH yes and they have you pay tax on the groupon ive bought dozens and NEVER HAD A SPA CHARGE XTRA FOR TAX!! ALSO HRS ARENT THE BEST MOST DAYS THEY DONT EVEN OPEN UNTIL AFTR 2PM.

I was a little iffy about Serenity Day Spa since it only had three stars on Yelp. However, I was able to get a really great Groupon deal for a couple's massage, which i couldn't pass up - so I decided to take the chance. It was pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Except it wasn't a couple's massage where we were in the same room - we were in adjacent rooms, where the doors just opened into each other. The experience wasn't bad but there weren't really any extras to go that extra mile. They had a 'zen room', which was the waiting room, where they had some pastries and teas while we filled out some legal forms. My massage was pretty good. I had Whitney who was really nice. My boyfriend had Roneisha, who didn't seem as warm, personality-wise, but he said she was able to get the job done, so I guess that's all that matters. Tip - when you tell them lower back, it really means right above the butt. Maybe both my BF had an incorrect definition of what this really meant, because we thought it was the lower-mid back. So this is just an FYI for you guys who have the same mindset as us! I wouldn't mind coming back with another deal, but their prices seem a bit high for a no frills, no thrills massage - especially if I can get the same thing for half the price in Brooklyn, Chinatown, or East Village.

I went here and this place is disgusting. It was a mess and did not make me feel uncomfortable at all for a massage place. To top it off this lady Diane was so rude and nasty. I read another review on here and they said the same thing. I really hate to say this but if she is managing this place she should be fired. My boyfriend and I booked the couples ' massage and what a fantastic experience!! We were greeted by two lovely ladies, they offered tea while we did our paperwork and then did a consult on preferences etc. which I enjoyed how thorough they were to ensure they would meet our expectations versus some places that wait until you are already on the table, they left us to change and the massage beds with the memory foam were wonderful, nice music, perfect lighting, and the ladies were professional yet friendly, wonderful atmosphere and experience as this was our first couples' massage and we will definitely book again!! The robes were luxury quality and they had water ready for us as we were leaving...Pampered every step of he way from the moment we entered the door until we left, thank you so much and we will definitely see you again!!

I recently booked a deep tissue massage at Serenity Day Spa and my experience and massage was excellent. I was very impressed by the sheer elegance and beauty of the business as well as their professionalism. I've been to many different spas and very rarely do I leave feeling impressed by the level of service provided. Serenity Day Spa is definitely a godsend to the neighborhood.

We purchased a Groupon for a couples massage and they said we they would be unable to schedule an appointment using a Groupon for a full two months. However, they said they could schedule us if we would pay $30 more than our Groupon price. Worse, they said we could only use it Monday through Thursday, which was not feasible for us, nor in the Groupon fine print. We had called them two days after purchasing and, since they don't always answer the phone, left a message. They returned our call 3 days later. By the time we learned of their deceit it was too late to get a refund with Groupon. I would steer clear of Serenity as it was anything but a serene experience. Instead of a relaxing massage I endured over an hour of phone stress with them and Groupon to no avail. I'm currently waiting for Groupon to resolve their "investigation." I would avoid Serenity as they are dishonest and deceitful.

Place is ridiculous. First they try to make you sign waivers for massages and facials (which would not even be enforceable as you can't waive negligence). Now they try to make you pay for the entire service at the time you make the appointment. That's like asking someone to pay for the entire dinner at the time they call to make a reservation. Too bad because the actual spa treatments are good. It's the policies that are horrible.

Getting a Brazilian Wax can be an experience. After having one bad experience (at another salon) this was quite the opposite. It was a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. You get a phone call to remind you of your appointment and at that time if anything changes you can let them know. I enjoyed my visit so much i made an appointment on my way out.

Thank you for compliment on the massage therapy itself. With regards to your other concerns I will address them as follows. It is standard practice in the industry to fill out a consultation form and a release form. Our consultation form allows us to understand each of our clients medical history, their areas of concern and their goals and desired outcome for the session. Also, we have a short release form that is designed to protect both you and ourselves. With regards to your analogy about not paying for your food before it has been served and eaten by you, of course a restaurant cannot bill you up front because it does not know if you will have another glass of wine or another appetizer or dessert etc. However, there are many industries that require you to pay before the service. I will list a couple below as examples. Broadway Play Airline Flight Basketball Game Movie Ticket Concert. Of course there are many situations where you do not know what the final cost will be and in those circumstances you have to wait for a final bill in order to pay. In the Spa's case and the examples above the final bill is known up front. That's why you asked to pay in advance. I have visited many spas in my lifetime. It was common practice to complete the intake forms and make the payment before I began my service. It is our goal to provide great service to each and every client. It is unfortunate that we were not able to accomplish that goal with you. However, I assure you it was our pleasure to provide you with a quality massage. We hope you will come back and try us again. Extremely unprofessional. I purchased two massages using a Groupon. I used one of my massages last year and redeemed my Groupon voucher. The clerk at the desk then told me that she has credited the second Groupon which I can use when I please. When I called to use the 2nd massage, the woman on the phone told me that there was no note under my account and that I couldn't redeem it without the Groupon voucher number. I called back after two days with the Groupon voucher number and they told me my Groupon expired and that I couldn't use it. When I told them that I was told by their employee that I could use the 2nd massage whenever I wanted (because it had already been credited in their system), the manager told me that she is not responsible for what her employees say. She proceeded to talk over me the entire conversation and offered me no alternative other than to pay an additional $45 for a massage I already paid for. This is what I call thievery. They will never have my business again.

I Bought a Groupon deal for a 90 min massage at serenity day spa, it took 2 weeks to schedule my appointment due to never receiving a call back. Finally I was able to schedule an appointment for my daughter and I after calling a second time. We arrive for our appointment before stating we had an appointment I was asked to take care of the payment, I thought that was a very rude way to greet a new client. So I handed the girl a one hundred dollar bill and she looked at me like I was crazy and told me to go to the gas station in the same parking lot to break the bill. Now my daughter and I are finally in the room getting ready for our 1st mother/daughter massages and as I go to lay on the massage table I notice is extremely hard and there is an egg create foam on top to try and soften it up (kind of weird) so when the therapists walk in and asked if I'll take care of the gratuity before they get started (So now I am thinking either they base their service on how a client tips or they are hurting for money) I informed her I never tip before services she looked at me like I was speaking another language she pushed a couple more times and I kept saying no. Finally after the massage that wasn't the best, as we were getting ready to leave I notice the door is filthy. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I get massages on a regular basis at another spa I should have never strayed just for a deal.

Had a couples massage here with Leah and Summer and it was amazing!!! We did splurge for the facial and foot scrub along with a 90 minute massage, was totally worth it!!! My skin feels super soft and my better half dozed off during the massage. Side note my better half is petrified of people touching them. The hot towel on my face and back was a bonus. The ladies were super professional and can read the body with the pressures to use. Was warned up front about a price difference for a swedish and more pessure. Will most definitely be going back for another.
