Great massage, lovely communal baths

Richard Clarke

Super sweet, but the cold pool is punishing

Michael Romero

I've been to Kabuki Spa a few times when I've visited the city and it's an absolute delight. The massages I've had here are some of the best I've ever had. The spa facilities are not large but they aren't crowded and are very calming. I like the zen and quit atmosphere which is enforced here.

Don Spradlin

Tucked away on the southern edge of Japantown, this spa is an exotic get-a-way in the best tradition of the Japanese public baths. Co-ed some days, men-only and women-only other days, it's a beautifully done bath space with saunas, dips and relaxing lounges plus, a number of talented crew. who just do private massages.

Mirko Schmidt

Great experience with my wife on a mixed gender day. I wish they had more of those, and at least one day on the weekend.

Erin Harrison

My boyfriend and I's first experience having a massage was AMAZING. I was a little nervous that my first massage would be painful but i was completely wrong. Our service was 110 minutes long, the Deluxe Bliss Massage with Private Bath. The ambiance of the room and soft music was very relaxing. I really enjoyed the bath because the woman scrubbed my back and left me to relax with cool cucumbers and a cool towel on my face, and fresh apple slices to eat. Once 30 min was up, Trish came in to start my 80 minute Western Massage. I was completely relaxed and enjoyed every second of it, although next time I would be fine with 30-60 min massage. We will definitely be back to the Kabuki.

melody camoras

I love this place! So relaxing...everyone should try them!

Grace Jones

Best place to soak and sweat the stress out in SF

Antoun Issa

Came here to unwind during a layover after a 15-hour flight from Australia. The communal baths are very clean and relaxing, and the patrons were respectful of the quiet environment. The massage was also terrific and professional - I'll be coming here again the next time I layover on a longhaul flight.

Shirin jafari

Great experience! Amazing spa and communal baths especially compared to SF prices! The half session massages include communal baths and are so worth it!

Leslie Benchetrite

Wonderful place. Great massages

Chelsea Larsson

Pure relaxation at an affordable price point. Let the outside world disappear into a cloud of hot steam while you enjoy the many baths and rooms at Kabuki spas. Cucumber water, tea and scrubbing salts are all yours for the enjoying. If you really want to TREAT YO SELF add on a blissfull massage package.

Andrew Michael Nolan

Love my spa days here soaking and steaming. Massage Treatments with Tara Bianca absolutely cannot be beat.

Adam Lenz

Service wasn't what I was expecting for the price. The pools are nice, but people leave their towels and things everywhere so it feels a little like a laundry room. The staff were a rude when I asked about a recently expired gift certificate. I paid for a 50 minute massage and it felt rushed and was in a shared room with curtains, I just don't think it's a good value for $140. I'll maybe go back for the pools, but my expectations will be much lower. I came on a Tuesday night for the record.

BJ Dyer

An oasis in the city. A space that takes you away from your world of stress. Silence is enforced. The venue is well-maintained and very clean.

Jade Rizzi

Wonderful. Whole atmosphere is zen and fosters a present-moment meditation. Relaxing, revitalizing, perfect place to unwind from our high stress lives.

Aaron Morin

Staff was very polite, massage was amazing and the bath was very relaxing.

Sarah D

This is an ideal place to relax and enjoy yourself. Prices are competitive with other spa resorts. I loved the communal baths, felt truly peaceful. Would be a wonderful place to get a gift certificate for someone hard to shop for.

jose tirado

Is good

Bradley Heinz

Epitome of relaxation. Lots of cute men. Definitely more of a gay hangout than anything

Ben Odell

Clean, serene, affordable. Beautiful baths and saunas, and solid massage as well.

Mark Higgins

Safe and healthy

doug allen

if you haven't tried it, you should. get some self-care.

Oivia K

This place is amazing. It was incredibly relaxing and the pools were so different and fun. They provide you with everything you need except the bathing suit - we went on a Tuesday so it was co-ed (bathing suits required). The interior is very luxurious and very clean. They had hot tea, fruit waters, salt scrub, cold towels, and lotions on various tables. The baths were well worth the money (half off if you buy a service as well!). I went with my boyfriend who doesn't usually do things like this and even he loved it! Then we both received 50-minute long western massages and they were FANTASTIC! I worked with Jenoveve and my boyfriend worked with Maria. I can attest to Jenoveve’s strong hands and knowledgable work. I get massages often and she was easily a top 3 massage. My boyfriend thought Maria was spectacular as well. Overall we loved it and will absolutely be making kabuki a tradition when we visit SF.

William Wolf

Relax, it's beautiful.

Michael García

I really like the way things are set up on this place. The visual is pretty curated / Japanese vibe. Great place in the middle of the city to relax and then go for a good sushi at the corner!

Elena Punty

Beautiful, tranquil, relaxing. If you ever want to treat yourself or a friend, come here!! You can come just to use their bath facilities or get an arrangement of spa services as well. I've been to another bath house in the area, and this one is FAR BETTER. I came with my sister and friend for her birthday. It did NOT disappoint. My massage was excellent. We came early to use the spa facilities and stayed afterward to get cleaned up for the evening. We all walked out of there glowing! If you haven't been yet, do your body a favor and go.

Lance Fulford

This is my go to spot for a massage in San Francisco.

Becky Hui

Awesome experience today at Kabuki Springs & Spa! Friendly staff and Sekani is an amazing massage therapist! Definitely will be back. Thank you so much!!!

Anna Kravchuk

The massage was good but the whole experience was not that impressive. Interior doesn't give you proper vibes, staff is not really welcoming. Also paying tip before the service instead of after feels a bit weird to me, I prefer to choose the account based on experience, not on some defaults.

Elaine Pierson

Ok so I've always wanted to visit a Japanese Spa and I was not let down, this place is so soothing. I'll absolutely be back!

Irma Iñiguez

This place is Awsome with a Buddha Zen Decor n Atmosphere. All Massage Therapist Ive had Massage with are Great..Facials are done with Certified Organic fruits n vegetables Ingredients details are met each time.. Love This Spa..for over 25yrs.

Jasmine Smith

You want a San Francisco Bay Area staple? Go to Kabuki. I’ve been going for the best part of 15 years. Still a great place for the communal baths and spa. Service is great, ambience amazing. Highly recommend. Suggest lunch afterwards at a nearby Japanese restaurant in the area.

Hector

Love this place

Jakob Lindqvist

Tranquil oasis where you can get butt naked with strangers and revitalize from the stress of the city. Take more time then you think you’ll need, this place is a treasure

Marlena Zaragoza

Very nice staff and nice upgrades

Danielle Bell

Every city needs a kabuki! Simple spa with simple rules. Everyone is always cool and keeps to themselves and I leave feeling amazing and relaxed. I’ve only done the sauna/spa, never had a treatment. Staff are very nice too.

Lisbeth

Relaxing and clean! I love that they have a table in the water area where you can self-serve exfoliating salt and cold drinking water.

James Ryan

Return customer here of over 10 years. love it. Safe space to let it all hang out. Clean, great service. Used the communal baths tonight. Was put on the waiting list, then got a text my key is ready after 5 minutes. Self-care, yo.

Margaret Hahn

$25 for the communal baths is such a great deal. Definitely great for someone who's looking for a quiet place to restore themselves. I love to go after work when I really need to wind down. It's super clean, relaxing. Staff is wonderful. It's not large, but they do have a sauna, steam room, hot and hold baths. Pro/con depending on what kind of experience you're looking for: when they say it's silent...they really mean silent.

That Guy

Massage was heaven on Earth! A relaxing way to escape from life for a bit! Thank you!

Caro Mendez

Very nice experience, ideal for this cold weather. The shiatsu massage session was really professional. We got this as a gift and would definitively go back.

Tracey Sperko

Loved the javense and Claire was great. Checkin was a little loud and chaotic.

Angela Dang

First time trying communal bath here & love it. It is $30 to use the bath house without time limit. There are steam room, sauna, hot tub, & cold tub. The beauty here is the place offers salt for scrub & drinks inside the bath house. Perfect spot to relax & distress after a long week. Also bathing suit allows. Recommendation is to make appointment if not go early on Friday. There are different date for women & men. Check before go. Tuesday is both men & women.

Amy Zaiss

Kabuki is a very nice communal bath which also offers a range of spa services. I enjoy Kabuki Springs over some of the other communal bath houses in SF for a few reasons, the most important to me is that this spa encourages relaxation and specifically discourages talking or conversation. The music is quiet and unassuming. The whole place is great and I always walk out feeling like jelly. The facilities are decently big and very well kept. They include: a traditional dry spa, a wet spa (sea salt is provided for free so youcan scrub yourself), a warm pool, a cold plunge, multiple showers and a seated bucket bath area. Separate days for men & women and one coed day. Clothing optional on women/men days. Bathing suits required on coed days. Spa services such as massages are good as well. Both swedish and shiatsu massages are offered. Some packages include a private bath - perfect for those who may not be comfortable around nudity.

Milena Langbaum

I like it. Been visiting on and off for years. Always has been a pleasnt experience for me.

Claudia Valentine

Excellent service and atmosphere

Lindsey Lazaro

Had one of the best massages of my life here! I came on the ladies only day and loved the vibe. Very peaceful and accepting. A gem in SF!

Michelle Laguatan

Spacious Private rooms, great setup for wait room.

Desmar Whitfield

Was hoping to get service after searching for this place and walking so far to find it however service is by appointments only! Still I came in time to be offered a free steam/sauna access and bath. Friendly staff.

Keristen Black

I was recently referred to Kabuki to take advantage of their baths - the hot pool, cold plunge pool, Sauna and Steam Room! I decided to treat myself and throw in a Javanese Lulur Body Treatment as well (hey, my birthday was coming up - why not indulge?). I arrived to Kabuki, unassumingly hidden behind the Kabuki theatre and exquisitely quiet/peaceful. A hostess showed me around the facilities and explained how everything works. I was offered a Sarong, hot Jasmine tea and immediately stepped into the bath house to enjoy the pools and steam room before my massage. The steam room was fantastic! They provide bath salts that I rubbed all over my feet/knees/elbows to soften skin. I then hopped in the hot pool and the cold plunge - a solid 45 minutes in the bath area before heading to the waiting area for my treatment. The Javanese Lulur treatment is outstanding. The massage had me feeling like putty, then followed by a full body scrub and warm yogurt application. My masseuse, Tara, was outstanding. Warm, inviting, calming and an expert in the treatment. Following an hour of massage and body scrubbing bliss, I hopped into a private bath, complete with rose petals! Tara returned 20 minutes later, ready to help me out and offer lotion/towels to comfortably change and leave glowing! Checkout is fast & friendly, you won't want to leave though! Given the baths alone are only $25 on most days, I will definitely be back to enjoy the ambiance and healing a place like Kabuki brings!

Ethan Stan

Having fallen in love with public baths in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, this is the next best thing to flying across the Pacific. If you have $25, two hours, and need to relax, do yourself a favor and come here.

Yael Davidowitz-Neu

I had an excellent massage and loved the traditional bathhouse area complete with sauna, steamroom, hot pool and cold pool. A great place for relaxing.

Maura O'Sullivan

Very relaxing environment and helpful staff. They've thought of everything from cucumber water to cool towels and flip-flops.

Z.O O

I honestly wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I went to another communal bath yesterday and didn’t have a relaxing and enjoyable experience. 1) The place is well staffed and the staff are extremely friendly, professional and welcoming. In the main bath area, there’s a section where a woman is serving you cold lemon or cucumber water and ice. The staff keep the the bath area and locker rooms very clean. 2) The large heated bath fits up to 16 people if I remember correctly while the cold oool fits 6. The water didn’t have too much chlorine and the temperature was perfect. 3) It’s a silent spa and they ring a bell if they hear you chatting. I’ve been to spas where people chat away (thinking they are whispering) in the salt rooms. 4) The ambiance was so relaxing with a soothing music and dimmed lights. 5) The steam room literally sent me to heaven and back. 6) There were many showers and sittttinf washing areas to choose from. 7) The cold pool was bloody cold lol. I didn’t have the ovaries to fully do it! 8) There was a relaxing lounge area with tea and water where you could just lay back and relax. 9) The price was reasonable for what I recieved - $30 for unlimited tome. Women are Monday’s Wednesday and Fridays. Mixed days are Tuesday’s (Must wear baiting suit on mixed days). 10) There aren’t enough things to say about this place. Really enjoyed my experience.

Thalia Rodriguez

Amazing. Would love to come back and get a massage for sure next time

Olivier-Antoine REYNES

Very nice and clean place to take a break, relax and enjoy the view. Hammam, sauna, hot and cold pond with Western and Japanese showers. I had a great and soothing CBD massage with David. I will come back next time I am in SF

Claudia Li

This is the spot for relaxation! Affordable baths and good staff.

Jarek Głowacki

Nice, calming experience. The hydration station is very useful.

Bevan Wang

I love the dry sauna. They include towels, shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, lotion, scrubbing salt, cucumbers, lemon, water & tea! I always bring my clay pack & sandals. They never rush you out. So, a 4 person in front of you wait can take 1 hour. .

Lou Fong-Wang

Love the communal baths! Just make sure that you know if it's female, male or co-ed day.

Andrew Speros

Very relaxing and clean spa. The bathhouse is beautiful and quiet with friendly staff.

katherine hall

Came here with my sister a few day ago, and she was in real need of a massage for her sore back. I decided to go for a shorter massage so I could experience the bath and sauna area while I waited for her. My masseuse did a great job kneading out the knots in my shoulder -- pressure was just right, and the pillow on the massage chair was comfy so I didn't feel like I was jamming my face into a pancake. Bath area was nice too. Plenty of water and tea to keep you hydrated. I do wish there was better lighting, more hair-ties, and the water in the warm pool was hotter. But overall, it was a relaxing experience. The salt scrubs bowls were a nice touch, and I like that they give you two towels (Korean spas only give one and I always lose it!)

Tia Tuovinen

The most relaxing thing you can imagine to do before/after a long day of walking or a flight. Quite fancy setup compared to traditional Japanese sentos. If you go with friends, be prepared to not talk at all; that's why I was happy to go by myself.

Bill Flagg

Great place with good service and many options including communal baths.

Herminia Hernández

One my favorite places to relax and be with oneself in SF in complete silence. The facility is clean and well maintained. Good quality amenities, including salt, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryers, everything a woman needs in a shower. After going through their hot/cold baths, wet/dry saunas, places to sit and relax (sipping on their tea and lemon water), I walk out like putty. They charge reasonable prices for their treatments unlike many of the other spas in SF. Clothing is optional, but after a while you don’t notice it, but if is does bother you there are co-ed days where bathing suits are mandatory. Be sure to check their online schedule for availability (since they have men only and women only days).

dwight sanders

What can I say in so many ways only that is perfect. Is really good for the body and mind it's a great ....

sara gary

Lovely facility to treat yo'self for a spa day. The massage was good and comfortable, but the highlight for me was really the communal baths. They have a steam room, dry sauna, hot tub, and cold pool, along with ample seating to relax, infused waters, and salt to exfoliate in the steam room. It's very clean and very quiet, dimly lit. Almost everyone was naked, a few women wore bathing suits. I spent about 1.5 hours here and it was really relaxing. It's not something I'll do weekly, but I plan on trying to come back in a month or two again to detox and relax.

Jaron Frost

So relaxing and awesome. I went on a Monday (men's day) and there were around a dozen other guys there, everyone naked and relaxing. It took me a while to actually get comfortable, but they don't limit your time so I was able to just hang out and take it slow. It felt like a dream. One of the highlights of my trip to San Francisco.

Aubri Drake

I visited the communal baths. This was a wonderfully relaxing space, with all types of bodies and a very chill vibe. It's a whisper-only space and people respected that. Their policies also directly address trans and nonbinary people which was refreshing.

Ben Ross

An absolute haven of calm. Kabuki Springs feels like a bit of Japan transported to the USA. People slowly mooch about, taking in the baths, sauna, steam-room and traditional seated showers. Be sure to try the refreshing cooling waters, and follow the lead of others by having a salt scrub. Massages and other treatments also available at additional cost.

WES Harman

Quiet, clean, cool: a mix of the very hot, wet cleansing elements and cool, firming elements. The vibe is very quiet...very serene...very private despite being all out in one room. Plenty of space in the steam room & sauna to stretch out without inconveniencing other bathers. The hydration bar is a nice touch. Scrubbing salt available for use in the steam room or showers.

Lizzy Moore

I got off to a rough start at this spa. In my confirmation email the spa said to come up to 30 minutes early if you want to use the communal pools and at least 15 minutes early anyways to check in. I show up 30 minutes early before a 10am appointment but the doors were locked. There were no benches outside so I stood outside while I waited about 10 minutes. Several people walked by and no one let me in. I pushed through when someone came out and asked to sit somewhere. The receptionist said she can't bring out the benches to let me site because she is pregnant. I said so am I and I need to sit. She finally let me sit in a hall. If I wanted to use the communal pools before my appointment I would have been out of luck. This should have been disclosed to me at the time of the appointment. I also thought it was odd that I was not required to fill out any paperwork or sign a release before my services. If I would have received better service when I arrived I would have given 5 stars. The prenatal massage was excellent. I was even given a warm towel to clean off the massage oil. I also got a basic facial which was also fantastic. I don't like facials but this one was more functional than others I have had in the past (not too much fluff and touching) and I left feeling clean, not greasy. The initial service was poor but the services were great.

Jeffrey Cohen

Been to Tokyo and found Kabuki Springs to be a very authentic Japanese spa experience. Clean, quiet and well mannered. Steam was great, and soaking tubs perfect but sauna was tepid on the Saturday afternoon I visited. This was the perfect hotel guest privilege from the Kabuki on Post. Be warned that depending on when you go, you may observe some subtle behaviors you're not fully prepared for on communal bath days. Hey, it's San Francisco!

Kevin Liem

Nice quiet place, perfect place to relax and get fresh.

Autumn Quintero

Relaxing, not too crowded

Zoe L

I go for their communal baths. They have only female days and only males and mix day on Tuesday. It is swim suit optional on the single-sex days. They have hot tea, and spa water while you're there. My hands down favorite thing is the ice chilled towels and the little dishes of coarse salt they give for the steam room. I basically go to town on all the freebies and end up with baby soft skin and feeling like I am floating. They offer reservations but day of is walk in. It fills up fast and there is a wait list which can be hours on weekends.

Jennifer Higgins

Amazing massage, facial, reiki and spa!

Jennie Benson

An amazing urban getaway! I've been to hot springs (Onsen) in Japan and this is as similar an experience as I could imagine! They have designated days for ladies and gents, and co-ed days for the brave and bathing-suited.

Diana Yoga

Resolving the sense of "disembodiment" that can arise from a cramped life spent in metro carriages and hunched over computer screens and too much phone usages and drama action from outside world; This place is the BEST #1 “AHMAZING” to Zen - I love the silent environment which is the best place to just regroup the self. -the choice of their spa/zen music is so perfectly soothing and pleasant to listen -steam room and sauna is one of my best fave to hangout -very clean -well maintained facility -staff are attentive -frontdesk are approachable -quite environment sauna and steam and the “no talking” or silent whisper is being implemented -Plenty of drinking water, tea supply with cucumber slices and lemons. -dimmed lightings that makes it so even more nice and cozy to relaxing mood environment It has been a weekly routine for me to go to since I would say among the places I have visited: Kabuki spa is the #1 Top of the line :)

neil gershgorn

One of the cleanest spas I've been to and also very reasonably priced. Will make Kabuki a regular part of my monthly detoxs.

Treffyn Koreshoff

Not as large as I was expecting, but never felt cramped even when it was full. It had a very respectful crowd when I went, and was calm and laid back. Easy to forget where you were.

Matt VanderZyl

Highly recommend the private bath & massage combo

Mike W

Kabuki is just okay - 3 stars - because everyone there seems a little too cocky about themselves. The massages are really expensive but no better than anywhere else in town, and they even charge more for them on weekends because of demand. They charge you to use the facilities as well (even if you buy a massage). Then you get a nice relaxing steam room and sauna, with some hot pools which are nice. It's great that it's busy, but it by no means is busy because of the quality of the services.

Jenny Ramaswamy

This is my favorite spa in the city. First, they actually have all the spa amenities I expect - steam room, hot and cold soaking pool, sauna, and ample places to sit and relax. Second, they charge reasonable prices for their treatments unlike many of the other spas in SF. This is a wonderful place to go and relax. It is also takes inspiration from the Japanese onsen, so if you want a little taste of Japanese culture, that is an added bonus. Clothing is optional, so I know this bothers a lot of people...but maybe you can work on getting over your nudity fears.

Sara Barz

I highly recommend a CBD massage with Hermann followed by the communal baths.

diane lopez

This is a review of the communal baths that can be reserved for $25 for up to 3 hours.Pro/Con: It's silent. No talking. I learned the hard way when I tried to whisper with my friend and a lady hit the gong as her way of telling us to be quiet...oops.Pro/Con: You'll be naked. Everyone else is naked, too. (Except on co-ed Tuesdays.) Pro/Con: There's not much to do except sit in a hot dry room, go to a hot wet room, sit in a hot tub, or dip your body in the ice cold tub and internally scream. And repeat. This experience isn't for everyone, but for me, this is a great way to relax every few months ago and I love going with my girlfriends. One of these days I'll splurge on an actual service (facial/massage) as well! Kabuki is an oasis in the middle of the city.

Marianna Johnson

So relaxing!!

Michelle Hebert

I Love! Love! Love! Kabuki Springs & Spa! I got a massage today by Leo. Wow! Absolutely a Massage Pro! The Spa is Fabulous! and the Reception & Service Team are Fabulous! Thank you! Michelle Hebert LMT

Carlos Lopez

This was my first legitimate massage experience and it was great! Very nice and professional staff, the location is great and the decor outstanding (as zen as it gets) but in the middle of Japantown what else can you expect? The massage was great, the aromas take over the room and is very relaxing. The definite bonus of this place is the shower/ sauna area, you can stay as long as you want: Japanese showers, stand up showers, hot/dry sauna, hot/cold tub and common seating area, all very quiet and relaxing. If you are not gay, be aware it can be cruisy but everyone is very respectful, there is staff around replenishing everything anyways.

Chad Tuckerman

Legit Japanese experience. I did the private bath & massage and wasn't disappointed!

daniel butler

Came here with my sister a few day ago, and she was in real need of a massage for her sore back. I decided to go for a shorter massage so I could experience the bath and sauna area while I waited for her. The salt scrubs bowls were a nice touch, and I like that they give you two towels (Korean spas only give one and I always lose it!)

Brenda Wolfson

Fabulous from the moment one! Shiatsu with Wendy transformative. Facilities first rate. I will be back. Only complaint is occasional wait for one toilet only within bathhouse.

Ethan Clansky

The best traditional public bathhouse I know in the bay area. The architecture is definitely Japanese looking, the music very tranquil and relaxing. It's also maintained quite well, feels clean and in good repair. There's a large hot bath, one ice cold pool, one hot steam sauna, and one dry sauna. They also offer salt to rub on your body, hot tea, lemon water, and cucumber water inside the spa. There's only one large room for the spa, so men and women are split into different days of the week. Tuesday is a co-ed day, where men and women can enjoy the facilities with bathing suits. Avoid the crowds, expect weekend nights to be busy, so go on off-peak hours if possible. You can get on the 'waitlist' if the public bath reaches occupancy.

Molly Martell

If they could just get a better reservation system. . . .it's fine, does well due to lack of local competition..

April Martin Chartrand, M.S.

Best spa in the Bay Area. Trish Mc. Grath, Massage Therapist, really does great oil massages. She is great with cancer and recently assaulted (now have a concussion) clients like me. Also, Check out the day baths: $30 for the day of bliss.

Brian Becker

Baths are so relaxing and perfect for a weekend afternoon. Great massage treatments too.

Brian Miles

Very nice place to relax.. next time I'm doing some acupuncture work

Karisma Rodriguez

A delicious taste of Japanese-style relaxation. Kabuki Springs is clean, calm, and authentic. I lived in Japan for a year following college and got to enjoy the indoor hot springs over there (of course, in Japan, it's just $3.50 per entry). Kabuki comes super close to the real experience, just a little smaller given that we are in a city, and a little darker and more private, which I appreciate! (In Japan, the lights are bright and people do look!) There's a gong at Kabuki as well in case lasdies start chatting and you want them to hush! Women's days are: Wed, Fri, & Sun. Co-ed on Tues (bathing suits required). If you go for the massages, go for Barbara. She's amazing and doesn't get picky between whether it's a Swedish or Shiatsu--she does the Blend option well and pays attention to/intuits your needs well.

Arthur Wise

A true gem of SF and Japan town!! Amazing baths & spa with top notch service, and a very authentic vibe. Wish there were more places like this throughout the U.S.

Janelle Davis

Richard was an amazing masseuse.

Allie Ledesma

Do not come here if you are with a group of people or want to be able to speak. They have a “whisper only” policy, and any whispering at all seems to get you nasty looks from what looks like the “regulars”. There aren’t many different kinds of baths like other spas. The staff seemed to be storing soap/shampoo refills at one of the sit washing stations. It kind of takes away from the ambiance. They “cleaned up” my sandals before I was finished. The sauna was a nice temperature. This is an okay spa if you want some solo quiet time at a reasonable (for SF) price, but honestly there are better spas in the city that offer more to do.

Gerri Falk

The onsen facilities are incredible! The temperature in the room is perfect, everything is clean and well maintained, and the staff are super helpful. I have never gelt more relaxed in my life.

Eileen Dugan

What a treat! If I visit San Francisco again I would put myself on the waiting list again! They accommodated us very well and the steam room alone is worth it!

Mimi B.

Amazing communal baths. Very relaxing environment, friendly staff and nice amenities

Danielle Taylor

One of the best massages of my life, love the atmosphere and they have a ladies community spa bath, which is cool! In Japan Town so we parked at the garage there. They give you a small validation discount for parking, which is nice. Very expensive, not sure how often I can make it back though.

Akilah C

Best deal: 25 min massage and baths for $70. Wonderful quick fix for a sore back. Hard to find such a luxurious experience for <$100.

Anna Maria Agressott

Clean, puntual with my body polish. Will definitely return.

Jennifer Daggitt

Leave your valuables at home if you are going here!! There is a thief at work at this spa. I had my gold ring stolen from my set of jewellery that was in my locker, the front desk staff were not concerned, dismissive and rushed me out, and management was unable to retrieve it through their own in house investigation. They informed me that "Jenny" and "Lila/Lili?" were the individuals who had handled it personally before it went "missing", but were very sorry that they could not get it back for me...sorry doesn't bring my deceased grandmothers wedding band back to me, it is irreplaceable, it's value priceless to me, and your patrons should be able to trust that their belongings are safe with your staff. What a shame.

Chris Olstad

I usually only go to the baths, which are AMAZING!, but I have gotten a swedish massage here once, which was excellent. The baths are enough, though, if you only want to spend $25. You can hit the dry sauna, steam room, hot and cold pools or just relax in the lounge and stay as long as you want. They have hot tea and lemon/lime water available. If you go during busy times, you might have to wait.

Sarha Miller

I was expecting a more upscaled updated place..

Carina Hessmer

Beautiful architecture! Very peaceful and I love the fresh cucumbers, salt and lemon. I generally end up going to the Korean spa or the Russian baby's instaed, since kabukis sauna never seems to get hot enough for me.

Kelly Kaoudis

The baths themselves were really nice and the amenities were great, but all the people seemed to be wearing shoes on the tatami in the dressing room. That super super grossed me out as it’s a huge no in Japan. I don’t understand why there aren’t separate shoe lockers in the front before people enter the changing areas or something. Especially in San Francisco I don’t want to walk barefoot where people’s shoes have been!!

Ellen Warner

Geez, why did I wait so long to visit this little oasis for sauna, steam and massage? Simply wonderful experience! Take your time and enjoy the bath facilities before and after your treatment.

Ruth McNab

Today was my first visit to Kabuki springs and I will definitely be returning! Did a 50min Swedish massage with Esther after a long day at work and it’s was lovely!!! She asked me about my body, where I carried my tension and truly listened to me when she executed the massage. Definitely loved the personalised touch. Between carrying tension to pinched nerves in my back this was just what the doctor ordered. Came out loose and limber.

Seda Unal

I didn't find it hygienic if that's a concern for you. It is for me and I will never go back for the communal baths. Liked the shiatsu massage though.

Dani Reis

Very nice and relaxing place! Totally worth it!

irene pena

This place is good gor the price. Still have to use the facilities, I went on a day that was men only. My massage was not that good, and there is no real lounge area to hang out before or after your service.

Suzanne Seraphin

This place is always relaxing to go to.

Carolyn Hanrahan

5x's now. Excellent massuesists & estitician. Front desk staff off this week but manager Kathy super & fixed. Ran out of towels in women's locker. Ice for water melted. Last time abundance of ice & towels. Otherwise clean & comfortable. Lovely scented products. Thanks! Warning, only one bathroom in Women's. Stall bathrooms in hall area. Hairdryer s in Stall Bathroom.

It has been a few years, but I recommend it frequently to friends going to San Francisco. Finish a session and go upstairs for sushi. Plan for at least 4 hours.

Marco Segura

This is a must visit, it's an absolutely amazing experience. I got a really great massage for a great price.

Thomas Arend

Great service, amazing massage therapists, beautiful bath area: blissful relaxation

Daniel Furrer

I had a very good massage here. Wish I had booked longer than just 25 minutes!

sharon smally

Ok not r type but maybe we will try again

Joanna Hoenie

Have never experienced a less relaxing atmosphere and I am no stranger to bath houses. The people are snooty and none more so than those manning the front desk. Terrible and insulting experience with them. I will not return.

Vanquishedangel

Amazing experience and changed my life. This place has male days and female days where it is clothing optional, most go nude. It has one coed day and clothing is required. This is a place for quiet and a low whisper is all that is allowed. It has a dry sauna, steam room, warm pool, cold pool, standing showers, sitting showers, salt scrubs and more. Makes me wish I moved here.

La Chele

The Shiatsu massage was exquisite relaxing!

Jessica Casillo

Best spa I've ever been to! The communal bath house is such a nice feature. I would go back to CA from NY just for their services!!!

Linda Molnar

This place has been a long time favorite of mine. A true respite from the city with authentic Japanese baths. See Beth for a facial and you will not be disappointed!

Amy Higgins

An amazing getaway right in the heart of SF. I tend to go on women's only day on Sundays. For $25 you can spend as long as you want in the spa. It has a hot pool, a cold pool, steam room, dry sauna and showers. Bring a book and relax the day away. I love how quiet it is too. The ring the bell if you talk above a whisper. It's a perfect way to unwind after a long week.

Lawrence Axil Comras

Of all the places in San Francisco, this one embodies all the great things in one better than just about anywhere. People from every Walk of Life. People from every sexual orientation. Lovely people. Weird people. All getting naked and soaking and enjoying being healthy together.

Matisse Hack

A wonderful bath house. They have a hot pool, a cold pool, a sauna, and a steam room. Definitely one of the best places to go in SF. Jus be aware that there is no talking here.

marc roman

My experiences at Kabuki have always been super relaxing. Staff is welcoming, music is calming, place is clean and all rooms are always working fine. I have yet to buy a massage, but that’s next on my list.

Deney Priddy

A very relaxing spa. No talking above a whisper. Very Zen.

Anita Kavlie

I had a fantastic shiatsu massage here. I give one star less because of subpar service in the reception. I was totally ignored when a young man came, and this although I was in the process of checking in for a treatment. I finally had to ask where I should go so the receptionist could focus on the other guest (who was actually being served by the second receptionist).

Becca Hillburn

Loved my visit here! Sauna, hot room, plunge pool, and hot baths. Relaxing atmosphere.

Ruby Christine

Best facial EVER!!!! Loved the spa as well! I will be back! Don’t skip the DIY salt scrub for the steam room!!

Geoff Watson

I've been here a few times now. I always seem to go with my girlfriend which means coed night. Generally a peaceful environment. They have a little gong for when people start talking. Unfortunately, not everyone is considerate of others. But the staff is friendly and helpful, they keep the facilities clean, and they keep the water and towels stocked. Get there early if you don't want to wait.

Ryan Booth

Great spot to relax - they really need to do some hardcore updating/refurbishing though.

Mona G

I had really high hopes for the Kabuki, but ultimately it was just ok. My massage was good, but pricey. The facial was probably better than the massage but again really pricey given the alternatives. Was excited about the baths, but turned out that it wasn't that big of a deal. Drove all the way up to the city for a spa day here and I realized Watercourse Way down the street may have been better and more convenient. They don't have private changing rooms. They have a schedule for mixed sex versus female vs male which make booking things a bit tough. I don't remember there being nice, relaxing music playing throughout the spa. Parking was annoying (probably easy now that i have done it once, but i ended up parking far...walking a ton and being 10 mins late to my massage). I also didn't really like that you had to be sooo quiet. I know people go there for peace and relaxation, but many folks were there with someone else and it's kind of nice to be able to chat with your company just a little bit. Overall it was relaxing but expensive and with so many other options I don't think I will be going back.

Katherine Baker

This place is great to have a relaxing time.

jamie medeiros

Very relaxing and affordable. Love just to hang out a few hours and Zen out.

Robbie O'Donnell

They were closed until 4:15 and I only found out when I got there, not cool!

Cem Turhal

Relaxing and tranquil environment to experience before a master massage therapist takes you back and shiatsu's the living ship out of you. If I was rich, you couldn't pay anyone enough to take me out of here.

Ying Kee Perasso

Best Shiatsu!!

Yin H

A gem in SF. Place is not big but well designed with Japanese sit bath area. Two pools hot and cold, one large dry sauna and one steam room, It’s so peaceful atmosphere and I felt so relaxed. Make a reservation ahead they are pretty popular.

Alexander Kanov

Decent spa for an occasional visit. Reasonable prices and facilities. Service was okay.

Cameron W

The most relaxed I have felt in SF

Stephanie Tan

My massage was one of the best. The spa was so relaxing and well done. The details were much appreciated and I can see why this place is so popular.

Lis Harvey

Hard to imagine there is a more restful, thoughtfully kept bathhouse in the States. Every detail smells good, feels good on your feet, soothes the eye. Enjoy the communal baths on a single gender day, be brave enough to schedule a massage... or my favorite, a body polish. Life-changing. Gentle, appropriate, welcoming, nourishing. This place is deeply peaceful and grounding. Wish I lived nearer so I could make visits a more regular practice.

Jeromy Carpenter

The Kabuki Spa is a great place to relax, refresh and recharge your zen energy. The staff is friendly, the facilities are clean and the style is a traditional Japanese bath house. There is no talking allowed and it's clothing optional, but most go nude. They alternate between men's, women's and co-ed days. I go on Saturdays because it's men's day. They offer hour long massages which will get you a discount on admission to the baths. The facilities include a hot tub, cold tub, steam room, sauna and showers. There's fresh cucumber and lemon water served with ice and hot tea, complimentary. Definitely one of the best parts of Japantown.

A Shoriak

THIS is my happy, relaxing quiet place. When life becomes too stressful, and I manage to get a day off, I come to Kabuki Spa. $30 for 3 hours of sauna, steam, soaking, and showering. Complementary water and tea, Japanese styled atmosphere. Don’t bring friends-and if you do, make sure they are quiet ones, as they will kick you out if you are too loud. Rest and relaxation at it’s finest, there are specific days for specific genders, Tuesdays are when everyone can go.

Peter szalay

Service is good, relaxed, steam is a bit mild for a Russian.

Michael Shehane

I recommend the $70 half-hour massage with communal baths. Come 2 hours before your massage, steam and soak, then get your message, and then relax in the hot water.

Lanie K

I love this place! The massages are pricey but so worth it! These therapists are well trained and really give you the royal treatment. I don't use the baths really as they tend to have tons of naked folks on only women days....which is fine but just not my cup of tea :) sauna is amazing and they have really clean facilities and great tea!

Janet P

Most amazing experience

Jaclyn Ting

What a lovely little bath house. My mom and I really enjoyed jumping in and out of the hot tub and ice bath
