It's a classic pick-n-pull salvage yard. It is what it is, you grab the parts you need and they charge you some nominal fee depending how they're feeling (usually it's quite low). They have a lot of SAAB and Volvo. If you are prepared to go in and get your hands dirty, and maybe you're like me and don't want "help", then this is your place for used automobile parts. If you want service, then go to the dealer. The staff at Rathe's stay out of your hair. You can explore and search for parts unfettered by anyone. I have gone in the dead of winter, because yeah, they will let you dig through snow for that elusive fuel injection hose you just need to have because they don't make 'em anymore. Afraid of DIY-ing a repair because there's no manual and nobody has done it on the internet? Go to Rathe's and tear into a dilapidated wreck to "investigate" rather than messing your own car up. I learned to re-key ignition locks without the factory tools by taking one apart here, then buying it and bringing it home for parts. Bottom line: Rathe's is one of the last true self-service salvage yards, so if you want service, you should probably not be here. If you want free rein in a huge playground of automobile wrecks, this is the only place around.

Picked up phone and immediately hung up multiple times without answering call. Too busy to deal with customers on phone. Rude when they do answer. Terrible service.

I've had some great finds here and the pricing is always reasonable. It's a small enough lot that it's worth heading over and seeing what's out there.

Tried calling several times and no answer. The last time i called they just hung up. I guess buisness is so good they dont need to answer the phone.

Great junkyard. How many yards in this day and age let you pull your own parts? Armand Rathe is no-nonsense, he might come off as rude, but he's actually the f***ing MAN. Whatever price he names, offer half then haggle from there. That's how the game works, you're not at Autozone

Just a bunch of retards trying to screw people over day after day! We used to get everything from them but go to D Richard instead they work with you alot better and are flexable on the price rathes are straight trash if you buy scrap metal at least know about it!!! Drichards all the way it's the only way!!

Stole my vehicle out of my driveway after learning where it was parked. They didn't even have my phone number or full address, let alone consent to take it! Came home the day after calling for an estimate and it was gone. Vermont doesn't require paperwork for auto salvage. Of course it was stripped before Burlington PD could recover it. The owner kept trying to treat the matter like it was a business transaction instead of bald theft... Do NOT call them for an estimate, don't expect a fair deal, and whatever you do, don't let them know where the car is until you've finished negotiating a sale! Beware!

Reviews make this place look bad because the people writing them are the same ones who can’t make their own coffee and are completely reliant on others. They can’t bother to drive down and figure it out, they call and want everything done for them. They’d go to the dealer and get sorted but they don’t have the money. Machines and cameras take over because people rely on them. You have to go out and do it yourself, or you’ll be having amazon package airdrop while you sit in front of a screen watching it bring you your eggs. Rathe’s is a playground. Go play
