I WAS SHORTED 582LBS. of aluminum on my weight ticket. I give MCR a three star rating ONLY because the gentleman in the office did what he could to come to an agreement on a fair payment upon returning the next business day. I showed up later than I had wanted on 07Apr2018. Knowing that I was running behind I had called and told them that I estimated to be there around 11am, knowing that they closed at 12:00pm I was given the assurance that it was ok to come up. When I arrived at shortly after 11:00 I scaled in an unloaded my mixed steel. then I backed my trailer up to the receiving dock to sort out the metal. It took several minutes for anyone to come and offer assistance and when the receiving manager came out he said that we close in twenty minutes and that I should come back or throw it all out as dirty aluminum. I told him that I lived two hours away and that I thought it could be unloaded in a timely manner. He reluctantly brought out containers all the while telling me that his guys needed to go home to see their families. I was not short in showing all of them appreciation for their willingness to help me and stay after, but every time that I said: thank you, they let me know that I was an inconvenience to them an told me I should plan better. In the end and for whatever reason I don't know, my printed weight ticket showed that I was missing 582lbs. This was unacceptable, unfortunately I had found this out upon returning home. When I returned Monday morning and discussed it with the gentleman in the office, I was sent out to receiving to try and sort out the weight issue. My reception was pretty poor and when I tried to talk civilly with the manager profanity was used to prove a point. I was told to leave the dock and that they would help me when they finished with what they were doing. I returned to the office and worked out an agreement with there. The prices seemed fair, and they were professional on the surface, but this is not how a customer should be treated, especially with his family present. Always get a Gross and Tare weight upon arrival and before leaving.

The people at MCR are VERY friendly. In response to the previous review, they charge different prices for different metals. If you bring in aluminum with steel mixed in, they call it dirty. Pretty simple. MCR has always been my first choice. Friendly people, and fair prices.

I've lived in Provo for 4 years now, and I have done scrap metal for the past six years in 3 different states. Only once since moving to Utah Valley have I gone anywhere else, and that was the very first time I took in a load here. I've never been back to that other yard. MCR is a great yard. I've even known them to take the time to teach more about the different categories they offer, which saves time and money for me. And as for Dan Quintana's review, you admitted that you missed some screws. No one blames you for that, or for being frustrated about the time you invested. But if you missed screws, your metal isn't clean. Doing small time scrap metal is labor intensive and time consuming, and no one knows it better than I. If you're not up for that, take the dirty rate, and be glad someone paid you for something that Waste Management would have charged you to dispose of.

I wish there was a sixth star to give as a rating, because these guys are so much better than their competitors in south provo (who shall remain un-named) you wouldn't believe it. In fact, the folks at MCR are so friendly and polite that I put in a full days work for them, without pay, just so they could make a little extra profit this year. True story.

The company I work for has been dealing with MCR much longer than the two years I've been dealing with MCR. The people in the office are always friendly. I have also called on the phone and received helpful information about sorting and classifying scrap. The employees in the north building may seem picky but they are doing their job. They have also helped me understand sorting. Communication is always helpful in having a great experience.

I came here with 838 pounds of copper wire. I called before coming and was told that for bigger wire it would be $1.55 and for the smaller wire it would be $1.05. 600 pounds of what I had was size 350 copper feeder wire and the other 300 pounds was the ground. Instead of separating the wire they put it all together and gave me $1.05 per pound for all 838 pounds. So i got screwed out of around 300 dollars and i had to unload it even though there was a worker in the forklift. The people in the office were nice but i told the workers when i pulled up that they were different wire and they still threw them all together. Theres definitely better scrapyards around.

Came with an engine and pulle into the weigh station. There they told me they wouldn’t weigh my engine and the other metal I brought and to go to the center of the lot and talk with someone there. They had me literally throw the engine to the ground and he pushed it aside and left me again by my truck in the lot. How do you get paid with out them weighing your metal? Good question because they got an engine for free and I left empty handed. I urge you to go somewhere else. Somewhere where you actually will receive payment for what you bring. Terrible experience.

Dont expect much for your scrap metal. At 720lbs, for $14.40. I'm not sure why the qty was so low, not even worth the trouble. Best to take it somewhere else.

I had a unique project where I needed some brass. I had called all the metal supply shops in Utah county and Salt Lake county, and even searched online. It was too expensive. I called them and they let me come down and pick out a pick of brass that worked perfectly for my project and I didn't break the bank!

I could have either taken my old Dryer to the dump and paid them $8 for taking it, or Recycle it and drop it off at MCR and have them pay me a few bucks. It's a no brainer to come here to recycle and get paid to do it.

MCR gives an honest payout for material!!! I have been going to western metals recyling for 7 years... they moved to south provo and have continued to lower what they paid us for cat 5 cable from $.90 per lb to $.55 per lb to $.33... Im guessing they over extended themselves and I have to pay for them? I called MCR and found that they pay $.88 per lb for the same material!!!Whether western metals recycling has become dishonest, or just poorly managed I don't know... but MCR Recycling in Orem does a great job, and were very helpful getting my cable out of my truck. Thanks MCR!

What a joke! They will cheat you every chance they get. They call it "dirty Metal". It means you got screwed. They will only pay you a % of what they offer per lb or ton! and when I say a % it means they ding about 65%. Its a lot and adds up, so all that hard work is not worth it. Spend the time and go to SLC and save. I took in a aluminum shell. I spent all day cutting it down and removing all other non Aluminum metals. I guess I did not remove some metal screws that I had missed and they still dinged me on the ones I missed. Still stands in my opinion they will still cheat you!

I have visited most of the recycle places at one time or another, but MCR is always my first choice. I have been going there for years and will keep doing so. They are friendly, helpful, just basic good people. Got a question, problem, just go in the office and talk to them, they will take care of you. Seriously, how many business know your name? They do!
