I live on an acreage right outside of Harrisburg, SD. Have now waited over a month for their recycle bins since they purchased the business from Harrisburg Sanitary Service. Have called numerous times and they keep telling me it will be in another two weeks. That has been three times now they have told me the same story. I wouldn't care about the bins but their recycle service is entirely different from Harrisburg Sanitary Service, so their bins are necessary. Also, every time I have called their number, personnel are what I would call "not friendly". In other words they don't seem to care about the bin situation and just attempt to "pass me off". They offer no apologies and worse than that, border on being rude. Very frustrating! You would think since they bought out Harrisburg Sanitary Service, and all of the accounts went with the sale, they would be EXTRA friendly to the new customers they inherited to earn our business. On the contrary, the customer service reps act like they could care less about my concerns, regarding the bin situation. I mean really - does it actually take 6-8 weeks to get new containers?!! Makes NO sense to me! Especially, since I talked to people that live right in Harrisburg that got them right away. At this point in time, I have to rate them VERY POOR!

I've had Novak for a while now and have nothing but great experiences. For example, today I woke up late and forgot to take the bin out. The driver walked through the deep snow to my house to get our bin. You don't find service like that much anymore! Great recycle program as well with rebates/credits. Waaaay better than Waste Management!

GOT HUNG UP ON at Novak's office by a girl named Lacy when I called for the second week in a row of them NOT picking up my garbage. If you use Novak garbage service, be sure to keep their phone number on speed dial. WORST GARBAGE SERVICE IN SIOUX FALLS!

We have seen other garbage haulers in the neighborhood, and we have had other companies. Novak by far is the most efficient. The drivers are pleasant and not one of them has been rude or out of line. They put the containers back where they got them. I would recommend them to anyone anytime. The price is very reasonable and they offer many benefits.

I am so pleased with our service! I feel that the garbage collectors go above and beyond their jobs, whether it's bringing my containers back up to my home or picking up the extra stuff we couldn't fit inside the can. I try to say thank you when I see you guys- but again, THANK YOU!

So we forgot to put our garbage out last night/ this morning and the trucks had already been through our neighborhood. I called Novak Sanitary Service and they are sending the truck back to pickup our trash at no extra cost to us! This was our mistake but they are still willing to help us out. Novak, you rock! Additionally, they don't charge any extra fees to add recycling services with trash service AND you get rewards for recycling! One downside is that the recycling is only picked up every other week, but the container they give you is huge!

Maybe there is a difference in quality of service between residential and commercial services, but we have used Novak for our commercial operations for years and have not had any issues with them. They pick up our recycle bin every week and switch out our 20yd roll away promptly, typically within the same day that I call. I have been satisfied with their service from a commercial aspect.

We have been using Novak Sanitary for the last 2 years and have been so pleased with our service. Any time I have had to call customer service has been knowledgable and accommodating. I appreciate that any time service will be delayed due to weather we get a call, we receive recycling rewards, and I don't have to bring trash cans to the curb. In 2 years there was only 1 time my trash was missed - after calling to see what was going on we had someone stop to pick up our trash within the hour.

The first phone call went great. Really friendly service when I was setting up the garbage and recycling for our new home. They said they were going to give me the first month free due to them being voted local best. Was told we didn't have to bring our garbage cans to the curb, they would come get them. How great is that!? I was so excited due to all of the benefits that they offered. Recycling rewards, not having to put the garbage cans out, etc. First pickup was scheduled. Trash and recycling was still in the containers. I called to see what was going on and they informed me, you have to give permission for them to go in your driveway to get the cans. No big deal, I gave them permission and started to set them out at the end of the driveway to be safe. I've only had services with them since September and there have been more times they didn't pick up the trash and recycling then when they did. I have called so many times and there is always a new reason as to why it didn't get picked up. I told them I had been having issues getting the mail from them. No other companies. Since I hadn't been getting the bills I've been just calling in to make my payments. I called yesterday to make a payment and ask about the recycling to make sure it would be picked up since it hasn't been picked up since before Christmas. I was told recycling would be picked up that day. Made my payment and continued on with my day. Get home last night. The trash was taken. Recycling was not. So now we still have a full can of recycling outside and a full bin inside. I called again to see why it wasn't picked up and got Corina. She told me it didn't get picked up due to lack of payment. I let her know I had made my payment yesterday morning and confirmed that the recycling would be picked up that day. She cuts me off saying that they will pick it up next time, which will be the week after next, and they will take the extras then. I told her I was informed yesterday that they would be picking it up. She told me, the person you spoke with wouldn't say that. You'll have to wait. I'm no longer waiting. She was rude and I'm no longer going to deal with the issues of having excess garbage and recycling laying around due to not having it picked up when it was supposed to. Save yourself the headache, go with someone else. I was really looking forward to the benefits they had to offer. Turns out the recycling program doesn't work for my address anyway. Best of luck finding a good company to go with.

Extremely tired of not getting our garbage and recycling picked up as scheduled because of weather. We all understand bad weather can cause issues with trucks, but to just decide to NOT pick up at all and make us wait another week or 2 is not acceptable. Surprisingly we pay the same amount every month even when we didn’t get picked up every week as stated in our contract. Would not recommend. I also would have already left this company if it wasn’t required within our HOA.

Our garbage went two weeks between pick-ups on two occasions due to weather. Yesterday, our recycling had not been picked up (after two weeks) and I contacted Novak. I was told that the recycling pick-up couldn’t be rescheduled so it would be three total weeks between pick-ups. As stated by others, I am charged the same amount for a service that is not being completed. I am switching to a different company.

I have people stopping trying to get me to switch to their service because they can save me a few bucks. I always tell them no thanks. We love Novak. Our garbage can is not always full by the end of the week but other times It is way over full and Novak has always taken what we have put out for them. (we have their largest residential can) At times there have been two extra cans full that are my blue 33gal ones. They have always emptied them with out any issue or comment. This service at has kept us a loyal customer.

Have been a customer for many years at both my home and business, but that is going to change. The past 6 months have been terrible. Being over-charged for the smallest things, and extremely poor customer service when I brought up these issues. The snow storm on 12/27 caused delays in garbage collection services, but it is now 1/4 and OUR GARBAGE IS STILL PILED UP OUTSIDE. Called to ask what was going on, and was just thrown around in a circle without a definite answer. Will be switching over to a new garbage collection service today.

I’m an understanding guy, but my garbage has not been picked up for a solid month now. Call in and the excuse is county road restrictions. Tell that to the dump trucks and low boys barreling down the road (part of HWY 115 construction, approved by the highway department?). The Novak fix? A dumpster in CANTON. Haul my own trash 50 mile round trip? No thank you. In addition, there were several days where a little snow caused a one day delay or a full week (or three if it’s recycling week). Safety First, I get it. Yet I’m charged a full bill. In the famous words of boxer Roberto Duran... “No mas!”

Too big to care about customer service anymore. Edit- . It's easy to respond to a bad review, but when both my neighbor and I cancelled, the response was "ok." I had been a customer for 10 years and my neighbor longer. Price was double of the new company.

I am CONSTANTLY calling to ask why our garbage or recycling hasn't been picked up for the week. We have had issues for 6 months with them, and when I told them I was changing waste services they didnt even try to keep my business.

They pick up the trash or recycle when they feel like it, I had been gone for awhile so my trash couldn't be picked up cos it was in the garage I was in the hospital for awhile with my 5 month old boy so I called to have them pick up my trash after I got home, sure enough the next day that didn't pick it up why should I be on time with paying my bill? Since they do everything half ass, so don't believe those good reviews on the top those are mostly fake the customer is not there priority and if it's too inconvenient for them whatever the matter may be they will not show or grab your recycle or trash l......half ass company don't waste your time!

Nice service, but two complaints,I always have extra boxes by my recycle can and they seem to never take them. And they always place the containers in the middle of my driveway, they never completely finish the job. Why I made this four stars is because of the customer service, Becca was outstanding and very professional on the phone. Becca rerouted someone to come and pick them up. Unaccommodating, unreliable service. We live out in the country on a gravel road. Novak would never pick up on rainy days or when the roads were even a little messy. There was never a backup plan. We went almost an entire month before they would come out to get our garbage and recycling. No one would ever call to tell us they weren’t coming, so we would put it out on the road and come home to a driveway full of garbage blown all around. The customer service is harsh and unapologetic. We had been with Novak for 10plus years. I was really hoping to stay with the company, but the last few months have been unbearable. When I said I was unhappy, they didn’t apologize. Their answer to me was “when would you like your containers picked up?”

Called and told them this is the third time the left recycling all over the road all the way down the block she didn’t say anything never came to clean it up nether up and down all the streets in court Novak’s allways losing garbage.

On more than one occasion I have had garbage suck in the bottom of my trash can, instead of just ignoring it the truck driver always gets out and makes sure that my can is all the way empty. On top of that they make sure to pick up any trash that may have escaped. I really appreciate it when people put in the extra effort!
