This is the cleanest salvage yard I've ever been to, also the team they have their are friendly and very professional, I am a Service Manager @ New England Tire in Attleboro Mass, I have dealt with many other yards in the past and have always been treated like my business didn't matter , General is definitely worth the hour drive. I bought a Rubicon front axle from them and it was my first time contacting a salvage yard that was 8 hours away. I have to say it was one of the best buying experiences i have ever had -- the associate who helped me, Shawn, was very patient with me because it was first time making a purchase like this. He explained EVERYTHING that i needed to know and how i need to get it shipped for my certain situation. I know it's hard choosing a reputable salvage yard because of those bad apples we've experienced, but i can assure you that General Auto Recycling is totally legit and is focused on helping the customer. My Rubicon front axle is now packaged up, shipped, and is on the way to my house. I am located in Virginia and General Auto Recycling is in Rhode Island, so I put a lot of trust in them. They turned out to be great people to deal with and i will definitely be a return customer. If you can, ask for 'Shawn' -- this guy knows his stuff! I am in no way affiliated with General Auto Recycling, this is an honest customer review on how happy i am with their service.

Order tail light on march 5, after 10 days of waiting I called and was told that they shipped to wrong address. been promised to send another one next day. never call me with new tracking number. following week I called again for update. they inform me that they don't have another part to send me. I asked for refund . they promise to do refund next day, never got it. end up calling credit card co.and file dispute. NEVER buy from them again.

Never use them.. i ordered an engine for $4000. Salesman told me cc payment ok. Upon delivery cc was refused by the driver and his manager for no reason citing a need for a more secure payment. Cc is as secure as they come. I purchased an engine elsewere without issue.

If you deal with junk yards (which I do on a normal basis), you know that you can't really expect much service as long you get the correct part in a timely manner. General Auto Recycling are the worst people I have ever dealt with, especially Judy x215. Wasted two weeks of my time and instead of an apology, at the end I was told my $200 order takes less priority then a $4000 engine order from someone else. I will not recommend this place to anyone!

Bought a wheel (rim) for my wife's car....3 weeks later I realized I didn't actually need it...I couldn't find the receipt for it but they took it back anyway..which I appreciated...but there is a restocking fee..I believe for all returns... I would recommend going there..professional place...

I can't expect perfect customer service from a Junk yard, but these guys are by far the worst possible. I ordered a part from them 12 days ago, they charged my card immediately, to find out almost 2 weeks later that the part was never shipped out. I gave them my phone numbers, emails, address, and anything else they requested, to find out later, they could not contact me (Riiiight), to tell me the part they had, all of a sudden they do not have. After the 10th day I started to call them and track my part, but no one answers the phone... It is just unacceptable.... As a business owner, I have never provided customer service like this. My advice is, get your service right, or find something else to do....

Terrible Junk yard.. Called Friday they said they had a radio for a Mercedes for $300 drove 2hr next day to pick radio up when arrived talked to same sales person ( JUDY) which gave a higher price o $485 said she did not tell me a price before (?). Even with a higher price was willing to buy it waited from 11am to 1.20pm when Judy said they did not have any radio in stock no one even apologize had to drive back 2hr without part and mad called to talk to manager but he is even ruder and said it was not their fault (not one small single apology) Not the first time they I had problem with them already bought a transmission and it was bad they told me to take to dealer which I did and dealer said tranny was bad ($400 trany flush +labor) General did not give money back or exchange (2800 loss) they have good price however you are going to take chance I will no longer do business with them. Work in car business and know a few mechanics that also are really mad a them.

General Manager of an Euro Repair shop. Bought a $4000 engine from them 1.5 months ago and they have yet to return my core charge (money held until they get the old part back) which amounts to $600. Worst service ever. Everyone is rude. AND I BOUGHT A $4000 ENGINE FROM THEM. Imagine what kind of service you're going to get if you're only buying a $200 part.

Are they serious! How they stay in business is beyond me! Ordered a part from them Tuesday,October 21 and here it is today,Wednesday October 29 and no part yet. Call every day and get more B.S. stories (if they answer the phone) from the bitchy woman and the joke of a salesman i dealt with,Ron! They must have a script they read from for excuses! Never again! I am very happy with General Auto Recycling. I emailed them about a part that I needed for my car and Shawn answered right away. He was very helpful about making sure its the right part for my car. I was a bit affraid as I read all the reviwes here, but I really cannot complain. I wanted to check out the part myself so I took a trip to the yard and I was impressed how neat and organized it is. This junkyard is huge. I had to wait about 10-15 minutes until they got the part for me which was perfectly fine. My overall experience was positive and I can recommend going there.

Asked Jay to put hold of an item due to wanting to know how much the shipping would be. He told me the rough estimate and I agreed to that but still wanted to be sure of the total cost. So he told me to wait for the call but never happened. Next thing I know is they sold the part.....Really mate? Unprofessional.

On 4/15/2019 we purchased an engine for a 2012 BMW 335i Engine that they required for us to send them a wire transfer from our bank to theirs. I thought this was very strange for them to require us to send the a wire transfer in the first place. We were advised adamantly by the sales person Matt that the engine we were purchasing from them was in pristine condition. However that was not the case unfortunately. We were also told by Matt that we would get the engine that we purchased from them within a few days. This also was not the case. We finally received the engine on May 4th 2019. When we received the engine the delivery driver did not have time to allow us to fully inspect the engine. The day we received the engine we sent Matt our salesman an email with photos of the damaged engine. We advised him that we had 8 different problems with the engine. That the engine was not sold to us as described. Below is a list of problems this engine had when it arrived at our shop. 1. Valve cover 2. Turbo bent upward 3.Turbo solenoid broken 4.Turbo vacuum pump bent 5.Boost charge solenoid broken 6.Pressure solenoid broken 7. Engine has water damage 8. Engine is extremely rusted all over We did not get a response from our email so we called and left several messages to no avail. Finally I was able to speak the Shane on May 5th 2019. Shane was very rude and short with me. He was raising his voice and advising me that we signed for the engine in good condition. I tried to explain to Shane that the driver did not give us time to inspect the engine and that we sent him an email the same day we got the engine with photos and an explanation of what was wrong with the engine. I asked to speak with the owner of the company because the way he was over talking me and his attitude towards me. Shane advised me he was the owner and there was no one else I could speak with. This is not how I should be treated. All I can say to other customers is to please read the reviews before you purchase because this is how they treat you.

the worst customer service. people are very rude. I ordered the part and was told that it would be shipped within 2 days. after 10 days of waiting called them again, stayed on hold for 30 minutes they just hang up on me. call them again and they didnt even ship it out yet. also said that there were some wires missing which wasnt said in the add. So they charged my card the same day I placed the order, waited 10 days to find out that the part was broken, they didnt even call me during those daays to let me know. Monkeys business

I rarely look at reviews when doing business with a company because most people who leave reviews are unsatisfied as a result of self doing. But in this case, I purchased 2 lights from the company. 1 was damaged in shipping and a cracked piece of the light from the corner was in the box. I called the company and the saleswoman who answered the phone transferred me 3 times to the original sales rep who was going to voicemail. This showed they had no interest in assisting just passing it back to the source. After I spoke to my sales rep he said there was nothing he could do because he didnt believe it was damaged and it was 2 weeks from when it was shipped. Granted I should have inspected the whole light and some how connected it without the customers car being here. But I didnt, I waited until they arrived. After setting up the light I see a crack and small chip shining from the light. I looked in and box and wow, theres the small piece that broke off. But it's my fault, it didn't break in transport. No problem, a 150 bucks is worth the lesson to watch who you do business with. To future customers...GOOD LUCK, INSPECT YOIR PRODUCTS, AND TRY TO GET EXTRA INSURANCE!

This junk yard sold me an engine, got paid for it, then took my engine core, signed for it, and were not going to refund the core charge until I called 10+ times. I had to talk to Shane, the owner. Customer service is rude. They will hang up on you. If you're calling to place an order, they'll take it. But if you're calling to ask where your shipment is, or when it will be shipped, you'll be on hold forever.

This is the worst yard I have dealt with in 30 years. I own a repair business and have never seen such horrible service. I ordered a transmission and was told it would be here Tuesday or Wednesday and here we are on Thursday late afternoon and still no transmission. Buyer beware, Who would ever buy from a company who treats their customers as if we are bothering them? Waited over 15 minutes for assistance at the at the register just pay for my order. The gentlemen were right behind the counter and couldn’t even greet me to tell me that we would just be a couple minutes and will be right with you. It seems as if general auto only cares about customers that are buying 3-4 thousand dollars on engines and transmissions. The only people here a general auto that treat you like a customer are the men in the yard. Before this company gets another sale from me I would rather buy from China for 4x the price. I trust them more than general auto. I know this company will probably have something bad to say about me for posting this review just like many of the other customers that were unsatisfied for their problems to not be resolved. I mean just look below you will see many of the replies from this company seems like they always got something to brush it onto the customers fault, they don’t want to resolve the issues. They don’t care about their customers. The problems start with your company and I don’t know how your company will stay alive if it wasn’t for online sales and that’s all you care about. the absolute worst. ordered a used engine over the phone. was told i would have it in one day. after 30 plus phone calls and 2 weeks later it arrived. when ordering i was told it was a 96,000 mile engine and i was offered an 85000 mile one for an additional $100. well it arrives but no receipt, so another bunch of calls and a receipt is faxed over. carfax the vin number on the receipt and what a surprise the donor car had 167000 miles. after many more calls got them to agree to pick it back up. now 10 days later still waiting for my credit. and when they tell you they will call you right back they are lying, i was told this numerous times and still have never received a single call from general auto recycling.

Everyone that works here is RUDE!. They act like they don't have time for you, and you are inconveniencing them for calling them. I ordered a few times, and tried a few different sales reps. The final straw was I waited 5 days for a part to find out they did not have and NEVER called to let us know that they couldn't find it. I asked for a manager who told me shop somewhere else!!!!!! HORRIBLE service, Stay away!!

I drove there. Temperature out side is over 80 degrees. I do not have air conditioning in my jeep. I was told to leave because I had my dog with me. Seriously? bought a mirror and they sent me the wrong one. after saying i want to return because it took so long to get and didnt want to wait another 9 days. they said no problem send back. i spent money sending it back. called they said they recieved but would not refund me full payment because i ordered the "wrong part". they sent wrong option as i had confirmed with dealer my option code. didnt refund me the shipping they had charged 25.00 for a mirror. in which when i sent back only cost 9.27 and they recieved next day. also they charged me 25% RESTOCKING FEE. i wouldnt even give it a 1 star

Drove an hour to buy a rim for my bmw from here. I told the guy at the counter that I was not concerned about the cosmetic condition of the wheel as long as it wasn't bent. I waited for an hour and a half. Took the wheel home and went to my local tire shop to replace one of my bent wheels for this one, just to find out the wheel I bought from them was worse than mine. Drove an hour to return the wheel. Here's the best part of the story. The OWNER asks me whats wrong with the rim, I tell him its bent. He says let me check on the machine, goes to the back for 5 mins, come back and says "It's a little bent, but I'll sell it to somebody else, I got 5 more." WHAT?!?! You couldn't have put it on the machine before selling it to me? I already waited an hour and a half, you could have spent another 5 minutes and checked it! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!!! EDIT: The wheel didn't have a tire on it. Even if it did, if you put the wheel on a wheel balance machine you can see it wobbling with or without a tire mounted on it. Why lie about it? You really "reviewed" the cameras? I was actually there for more than an hour and a half. I was sitting in my car outside waiting. Also when I first called to see if you had the rim I was told I could choose which rim I wanted, but when I got there I was told I couldn't. You guys need to get it together.

,This place is a joke. Called and confirmed part number, they recited part number back. Well got it this evening, paid way too much for shipping too. $30 for a 3 lb part. From RI to VA. It was the wrong part number, and one of the two large electrical connectors was broken all to pieces, making the part no good. And they put yellow marking paint on all screws, to show tampering like we would screw them over, even though that's what they basically did to me. Car has been sitting on a lift waiting on this part. Do not buy from these clowns. I will never again. Now have to wait till tomorrow to see if they will make this right, fingers crossed. Update, called them about the wrong part, they checked the other said it was the right one this time, got it yesterday, it was the wrong part number again. Now I have to call Monday and try to get a refund and have this one picked up at their cost. WOW, how can this place be in business. Do not buy from them. Fine it some other place.

The only reason why I'm giving this review 2 stars instead of 1 star is because I never actually visited the yard in person. I emailed this company about an engine block I was interested in purchasing, I waited two weeks and I never heard anything back. I called after that and the guy who answered the phone was rude. I asked him if he still had it and I heard him tapping away on a keyboard. I'm assuming all he did was look on their website... which is what I had already done. I was hoping he could give me some information about the condition of the block, but he could not. The reason why this angers me is because I live two hours away from this business and I wanted to know if it was really worth making the trip out there. I was still going to, but luckily I saw these reviews on Google and have decided against it, and I decided to add my experience to the list of reviews.

I purchased a front end assembly from them on 4/29/15 for $2800. Was promised that I would receive it by 5/8/2015, but it didn't come in. After about 10 phone calls and about 45 minutes on hold trying to talk to someone, I finally got them to ship the part that I paid $2800 for. I finally received the part on 5/20/15. Upon inspection of the parts I noticed a few things that are wrong with it. ( headlights were supposed to be halogen but were xenon, grill was cracked, gill molding was broken in half, right fender has damage on it, front bumper, has damage on it, the front end was from a flood car, this was not disclosed to me, because of this the fan assembly is also unusable since both fan motors are rusted.) immediately I contacted the owner directly and described all these problems to him. He said that when they shipped it the fender and bumper had no damage and offered $500 refund, i said it has to be more (headlights- $250 a piece, grill w/molding- $300 fan assembly- $200, repair fender and bumper $$???). I told him it has to be at least $1500. he said that in that case he will get it picked up and once he verifies that it is in the same condition as when it left, they would issue a refund. (NOTE** "same condition") he already told me that there was no damage to fender and bumper when it was shipped. So, agreeing to that would potentially bring problems with refunds ( "when we shipped there was no damage"). I said give me a refund and then have it picked up. He refused and said I have only 2 options: 1) $500 refund 2)return, and once verified the condition, refund. Please note it has been a month since I paid $2800 to this place, and now I have neither my money nor a part to fix my car.

To those customers who are writing the bad reviews.Fist of all you are dealing with used parts read the receipt before you leave the property,if you dont agree dont buy it!Second small inexpensive parts are not worth the labor to remove,if they told you it would cost you $100 for a $10 dollar part you would call them thieves.They are in business to make money not friends.Third unless you go to a you pick it yard todays salvage yard dont let people just walk around,they will get you what you need with their own employees.Everything is inventoried,and they pay a lot of money for their cars,front end loaders are moving cars,cant let animals out in the yard who dont care and destroy everything they touch.They are not hiding anything,just trying to keep things organized.Third the reason ,why some of the sales personal may have a bad attitude is because they get sick and tired of people giving them wrong information and getting the wrong parts then the customer blaming them for the mistake.The forth thing is this is not Dominos just wait your turn dont be little baby,its not easy getting parts off when its 10 degrees out or raining when its 35 out or 90 degrees.Fifth thing the phones ring all day for prices and information,customers order parts and dont pick them up,time wasted.Know what you need have vin number ready, production date ready,they dont make these cars just sell parts off them.and yes people do make mistakes get over it no one is perfect.I have dealing with these people for 30 yrs i think it is the most organized place i have ever seen.

Parts were not in "good" condition as claimed, wheel needed complete refurbishing. Over inflated shipping costs and also slow to ship parts (ordered Monday, did not send out until Friday) and not the most helpful or attentive customer service.

I work for an auto shop in Newburyport called Compass Auto Works, we contacted General Auto Recycling to get a used engine for a Honda Odyssey. After being delivered in a not-so-timely matter, we found the engine that brought was in fact incorrect. They took no time to check and match the VIN to make sure we would get the correct part to avoid aggravation on either side of the deal. After sending back the first engine, we receive another engine. Shortly after delivery, our mechanic noticed a large crack in the engine block. Yet again, another engine we had to return and wait while they get us another one. We’re about a month into this at the time they send the THIRD engine. Our mechanic put a new timing belt and water pump kit, set the valves and checked all connecters. Believe it or not, this third engine ALSO had a crack in the block. We have a month and a half into this car, this is a car that a customer is without because of this company. And to top it all off, they would dodge our calls, not return them, and give is weak and rude excuses as to why we don’t have a properly functioning engine. I suggest that NO ONE deals with this company. Coming from a company ourselves, I don't know how they could be so indecent, rude and incompetent.

Bought a motor for $4,700. First started it had a blown piston. Won't stand behind their OWN warranty. Looks like I'm headed to the courtroom over this. My company fortunately has audio and video of the whole job. Do not use these guys !!!!!! Just to clear up, no there weren't other issues with the truck. Find another shop, seriously. I called 45 minutes before I was going to be at their door. Told them exactly what i needed and they had the part. When I arrived, I waited another hour until someone finally got me the part from the car. No one is in charge, just people walking around doing things when they felt like it. Once I got the part, i handed them a credit card, apparently they only take cash. Someone couldn't have told me that during that hour I was waiting?? Super unprofessional and disorganized. The yard may be cleaner than the "office". Try harder people.

Lynn was very easy to talk to and pulled the door for detailed inspection. She had it shipped out and it arrived the very next day. The door was packaged well with bubble wrap and sandwiched between two pallets that were screwed down to another pallet. I would do business with General Auto Recycling again.

Absolutely horrible experience, possibly the worst I have ever dealt with. On Monday June 10th, 2014 I called and ordered a suspension compressor for a Jaguar and was told it would be shipped the same day to NJ, meaning I'd expect about a 1 at worst 2 day transit time. By Friday the part hadn't showed and guess what? I'm apparently not the only one who's dealt with their horrible customer service and it's impossible to reach anyone there. I kept calling and calling, the lady in sales (Who seems to have numerous negative reviews on here) was extremely rude and condescending, she transferred me allegedly to voice mail (I got hung up on actually) and trying to get anyone in their accounting or shipping department was futile. Thankfully, in their gross incompetence, they never charged my credit card. I did contact Chase bank to be on the alert should they decide to charge my card but thankfully I can put this to bed. I have ordered from them several times before without issue over the years but would never do so again.

So far so good... I haven't laid hands on the part yet, but the sales person I dealt with (Lynn) was exceptionally prompt and helpful (sent me photos of the part, looked at the part personally). I'm driving out there tomorrow, and will adjust this rating accordingly based on the service and the part, but for now, I'm very pleased. A lot of people have said that they're rude, and specifically called out the 'female sales person' ... it's possible that they're just put off by what I took as a no-nonsense... sort of 'get to the point' attitude. Very common here in New England... it's not rude, it's efficient. After going out there to get the part.... it was good. Absolutely nothing to complain about here. It's a used part, so it's not pristine, but it's very, very good, and was not misrepresented. I showed up at lunch, so I had to wait a little, but the part was handed over right when they promised. I'll use them again. The price was incredible.

THESE GUYS SUCK! I work for a dealership service department and need a radio for a 14 year old jetta. They had the part and said they would have it to me by Monday (I ordered it on a Friday). I gave them the company credit card number, they charged me for it, and now (3 weeks later) I can't manage to talk to anyone (because they don't answer the phone), because the radio still isn't here!!!!! Very bad experience. First and last time I’ll use General Recycling. Treated extremely disrespectful while there, whole staff is rude except one guy who was able to bring me into the yard to verify my part. Then I put a deposit down that morning and wasn’t called about the part being pulled, when I called back they said “maybe by the end of the week, don’t know” this was a Monday.. It was literally a 10 minute job.. then when I finally got the brackets I paid for, there was only 2 out of the 5 I paid for.. I called back to see what happened and was told I’m pretty much stuck with it, and couldn’t offer me the remaining brackets from another truck.. not to mention I was ripped off on the price. Totally unsatisfactory. Unbelievable. As far as a response to that your reply by owner.. I’m not going to argue with someone who’s obv going to take the word of their staff, I get it.. but let’s just say 1) you have more than 1 of those trucks, i personally viewed at least 10 GOOD brackets in the yard.. 2) there’s no excuse for rude, disrespect and awful customer service.. I’m not the first to say this. 3) if I was the one picking up the part and not one of my guys, I would have demanded a refund right then.. not worth my time or the money going back to your place to be told it’s still MY fault.. it’s clear all Genera Recycling cares about is their online sales.. buyer beware. You’re just bothering them if you walk in.

worst service ever, called monday, was told they had all the parts, gave a bussiness card to get all parts taken off so when i came there friday they would be off, showed up friday at 8 am non of the parts were pulled, had to wait 4 hours in the dirty office, all while listening to their sales people be extremly rude to customers or make fun of customers once they hung up phone. finally pulled parts and half the parts they pulled where wrong, and told me if i wanted to right parts i would have to wait 2 more hours for something that 15 minutes to take off. frustrated just loaded all the stuff into car and left, when i went to look at the suspension the control arms were bad. they might have the cheapest prices, but i would rather pay double price on parts than deal with that again.

this is a terrible salvage yard no service what ever will not send orders after charging for parts sales person will not call back. promise to have manager call no call either. they have $700. of my money and will not refund or ship parts. after 15 to 20 calls my salesman not calling me back. but if you call wanting to purchase a part he will come to the phone then after telling him your reason for calling to get parts you have already paid for he puts me back on hold then disconnects. if you want to give your money away I could use it and I will at least say thanks.

Same as any other review written: order parts, promised delivery time, does't happen, will check into and call back, and of coarse delivers on nothing they promise!!!! I can not say it is just one of the employees working there either. I tried with numerous employees to find out where our engine was and no one would handle anything. It did show 12 business days later after we were told it was going to ship the next day as it was out on the shelf ready to go. If they charge you a core charge, good luck on your refund. I could go on and on with all the promisses this place makes and does not deliver on. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of General Auto. Scam artist like these guys are not worth the phone call.
