If you want to sell metal Schnitzer Steel in Eugene pays 3 times as much and has good custormer service. I have been going to Brucham's for years and the yard employees are always rude. I found out from Schnitzer that if you cut off the ends of extension cords you get twice as much money for them, Burchams kept that a secret. They are very proud of how many bibles they have given away though.

I've taken several items here to have scrapped (why pay to take your old washer to the dump, when you can get paid to drop it off here?). The yard staff seemed to assume everyone knows where to drop stuff off, so they weren't super helpful. The office staff were sweet and made sure the transactions went well.

I get rid of scrap metal at Burchams once or twice a year and they are always friendly and helpful. The guys in the yard will help me sort out the ferrous from the non-ferrous and copper etc. I've not gone there to shop for parts or anything like that for my projects yet.

I wasn't too impressed. There was plenty there that i was interested in, but not for eBay prices. If I was going to pay eBay prices, I'd buy better quality, have it delivered to my door and also have at the least a 30 day return policy. This is a scrap yard with slow moving inventory, looking things up on eBay when a customer brings you something and asks you for a price is silly and not the way you move old dead stock. Had prices been reasonable for what they are selling and the unknown condition been a factor in the price, I would have been a frequent customer and likely bought up a ton of old stock that had been sitting for years. As soon as they took the items I was wanting to buy and vanished to go look them up on eBay, I knew I would never be back again. No way I will pay those prices and then have to be out of luck when the items end up being broken or unusable.

People seemed nice and there is an amazing selection of some of the coolest junk. The problem is, they seem to be either emotionally or romantically attached to it. I attempted to purchase a couple of old pneumatic filters that were covered in grime and the normal junk yard mystery liquids. I brought them up to the office and an older gentleman--I would assume to be the owner--had me wait while he looked them up on ebay. Which I guess is fine, however, this is a scrap yard, and these things were pretty rough. The price he wanted was a little over half of what they would be new, with no guarantee or warranty. I would guess the bulk of their income comes from export of scrap, so they can afford to try and milk every penny. I've driven by this place for years and finally had the time and curiosity to stop and check it out. Also, if you're wondering, their price on metals is for the most part MORE than new stock! Unbelievably disappointed.
