J&D maintain a good stock of recycled steel/aluminium/SS, all stored neatly according to type. They also have a good supply of new weld-able steel stock and sheet (stored inside). Dan is one of the friendly faces of J&D who is always willing offer assistance, cut metal to size etc ... I have spent many a happy hour gathering metal for various projects. The prices are reasonable; Recycled metal is sold by weight, the new stuff priced by type. If you have metal to recycle, then you will likely be in and out pretty quickly, just back in, unload, weigh and collect.

I can't speak to their buying part of the business but have been very happy purchasing from them. You can walk around a yard full of mostly commercial grade scrap metal without anyone bothering you, grab what you want, take it to the scale and they tell you how much. Have found great pieces of stainless and aluminum tubing, steel for welding projects, and even some 3/4" nylon scrap sheets. If youre doing small projects like me, it's a lot cheaper than going to Lowes and a lot better selection.

Before Kyle trashes a well liked local business he should tell the whole story. After helping Kyle find just what he needed a specific metal in a specific size he attempted to reduce the price when that was not successful he threatened to never do business with me again. It is at this time I replied why wait start now. I do not respond well to threats. I regret Kyle went there but he did. Should Kyle wish to meet I am sure we can put the issue behind us. One of the last scrap yards that allow you to walk through their yard, which is small. Staff has always been as helpful as I need. That said, I didn't expect them to walk me to what I needed. You should have a good idea of what you need before going there. I'd recommend them to anyone needing metal for a small project.

Scrap Metal Recycling at J&D is a great thing. We have known Dan and his team for years. He buys copper, aluminum, aluminum cans, computers, copiers, brass, iron and more! Great service, great people. They have great prices on scrap metal, batteries, used computers and more. People in Durham, NC love going there from all I see. Great scrap metal prices per pound! Not just a junk yard, or Salvage yard, J&D is a Durham Recycling Center, location and pays cash, real money here in NC, North Carolina from Zips, 27703, 27705, 27707 and more. A junkyard near me that recycles. Buyers of metal scraps when you are ready to sell!

J&D is one of my favorite places to shop. They have a GREAT selection of metals for all sorts of projects and fantastic prices. If you're fabricating anything out of steel, aluminum or stainless, you should go to J&D first ! And yeah, they're not open when they're closed.

Do not waste your time!!! This place has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I work for a manufacturing company that used to buy odds and end material from this place and it was very convenient, but after the last experience we will be using one of the many more options in the area. The staff (older gentleman) was extremely rude and not helpful. I will never visit this place again and I urge you to do the same! UPDATE... Dan, We had already come to terms for price and the transaction was made. You then try to tell me it was an additional $10.That is when I decided to take my business elsewhere. Whether it was intentional or not; once a transaction is complete it is final. The money had been exchanged and service rendered. It was your mistake and a business with real customer service would own it and move on. If we did business like that at my company we wouldn't be there long.
