I have learned a great deal about recycling by helping at the recycling center. I received college credit by doing an internship with the Ravalli County Recycling Center. I used my talents hosting the farmers market in Hamilton and by doing other marketing and educational outreach projects. I learned a great deal about how nonprofits work, how important social benefit organizations are to a community and how they give local citizens the opportunity to participate and contribute their time, energy and talents by doing meaningful and purpose driven work. Volunteers donate their time to help keep Ravalli County beautiful. RCR gets paid between $10 and $40 for one ton of cardboard. Think about that. It's been said that RCR gets lots of money for the materials they take in, in reality, recycling is not a money maker. It is an act that saves natural resources from being wasted. It is performed by few people 20 or so in our town, considering how many people live in Ravalli County 40,000 plus. The many are benefited by the hard work and dedication of a few. I hope others will join in to do work that saves the planet and the animals. We have fun while we care for the earth and each other. We need you to support recycling efforts and we applaud all of the people who pay to have pick up service and those who drop off each week for their noble efforts. We make every effort to provide excellent service and we appreciate your patience as we continue to grow our talents and continue to strive to improve our performance. Most of us work other jobs to pay our bills and dedicate our free time to serving our community. Thank you for recycling with RCR and for your generous financial donations. It is people like you who make the world a better place.
