They have made significant improvements over the past year, managing the leaf and brush waste excellently, adding a returnable can collection bucket near the mixed metals and glass collection bin (so c’mon people, don’t throw your returnable bottles and cans into the bin, sort them out and put them in the bucket! Reduce the time, effort and Abel’s commitment that RTS staff have in fishing those items out of the large, deep bin! Geez, it’s not hard to sort them...). They have also upgraded their fee-for-disposal policy so they can accept credit cards now. No cash, understandably - but checks and cards. Reasonable fees, too. Adding the solar panels, a nice walk-in trailer for the office, an electronic message sign out front. The place looks and runs great - the staff are very hard working and nice people. The swap shop - also a great idea and you can get good stuff for free! And - finally to address some older comments- all their changes have reduced odors significantly! No more “satan’s poop” smell. Hardly anything at all. I’m retired now so I can go any day they are open - but even when I worked I didn’t find it difficult to go on.Saturdays. Don’t put your stuff in your car for days before you can go, and you’ll not feel so affected by the schedule. How many places do you expect people to work 7 days a week just for your convenience? Not town services I don’t... after all, we fund these operations. Overall Needham gets high marks from me for all the good financial management and scheduled construction... kudos to all
