DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH COPART, CALL IAA INSTEAD. I own Mill City Towing, based out of Billerica, MA. I started working for COPART in 2013. I stopped working for COPART June 2017 because they refused to pay my company for the work we performed. Essentially they cheated me. The best place to go to is IAA. They don't cheat and they pay their contractors. Please keep this in mind if you ever need to sell a used vehicle that is difficult to sell privately. I had been chasing them for non-payment for work performed between May 2016 and June 2017. It was about $1700 worth of jobs. I picked up and delivered vehicles for COPART. I performed the work as filler work, meaning I was a very part-time contractor. In January 2014 they were in a bind and decided to pay higher rates if I would dedicate my 5 vehicle fleet. So for zones 2 & 3 I got paid $55, zone 4 - $65, zone 5 - $70, zone 6 - $80 & zone 7 - $90, zone 8 $115. They also paid tolls. Now some companies get paid more but most get paid a lot less. The ones that get paid a lot less don't pay Workman's Comp and they pay their drivers off the books and the owners operate as if they are driving and in this way they get to not have to carry Workman's Comp. The drivers that get paid off the books are not legal citizens, they don't pay taxes and and they get paid $15 a car AND WORK 2-3 HRS PER CAR. COPART takes advantage of their situation and it is morally wrong. How can I compete in this environment? Someone like me operates the business with proper insurance $2m in liability and my workman's comp was $29k annually. My drivers get paid on the books. I properly maintain my vehicles controlling liability by providing safe vehicles on the road. My drivers work hard and deserve to get paid for the work they do. We went to pick up vehicles in the snow and shoveled cars out and very rarely got paid for extra work performed. Sometimes we show up to pick up a vehicle and the found that the customer changed their mind without communicating that they changed their mind. So my drivers would drive to towns like Dorchester, Quincy, Braintree, Boston a good distance from Billerica and would not get paid. And if COPART didn't have a replacement vehicle we would come back empty. In 2016 & 2017 things started getting worse. They would give all the cherry work to companies that would work cheaper and I found it go increasingly difficult to keep up with the expenses. My trucks were getting older and COPART's expectations were incredibly unfair. I did everything I could to get paid. I sent emails to Andrea Toy, the director of COPART operations in Billerica, I provided spreadsheets with the non-payment information. Andrea Toy responded to maybe 5% of my emails, stating she would review the info and get back to me. I sat down with her employees and reviewed the non-payment info and they agreed the info was correct. Still Andrea Toy refused to meet and go over the non-payment info. Its just not fair that a major corporation can take advantage of the illegal workers and legal workers in order to drive profits to their bottom line. I reached out to corporate last week and no one has contacted me. It is shameful.

As a carrier the biggest problem with this is Copart is that driveway, hard to get in hard to get out. I wish they would make the entrance wider , trim the tree's that are scratching the cars and maybe make that driveway wider too.

Vinnie Kung

Took 1.5 hours to get my car and there were about 10 truckers and other customers waiting after me. Feel bad for those guys. Only one vehicle delivery person to do everything doesn't help the customers. He was great, but clearly underwater. Worst-run Copart in my opinion, been in and out in 20 minutes at other locations, but giving 3 stars because the car was in good shape as shown in the good photos they took. Too bad the logistical side is a mess.

I know this is a public auction as well as salvage one but there must be better one out there, these folks are the biggest scammers out in the auction world. They shop the pictures of the cars make them look good, purposely put dents on car to make it seem like damage is all body damage while is the engine or transmission, purposely take pic of dashboard while hiding check engine lights or other lights. On their corporate headquarters you can get a hold of nobody the regional managers don’t do no work neither some of their employees, all they do is scam people of their money, sometimes you Better buying a new car then trying to buy their car and fix it up, 98% of the time you will spend more. Stay away from this auction try other ones, I am for sure.

Just a HORRIBLE experience, all the way around! I sold my car to these people and was ASSURED that the car would be picked-up on a certain day and that the driver would have my check with him. Long story short, the car was FINALLY picked-up on the 6th ASSURED date that the company originally promised me. AND.. to add insult to injury the driver just took the vehicle WITHOUT my knowledge and WITHOUT the check. I wound up having to drive to the facility to get the check and sign off on my title. What a royal pain in the a$$.

Very unprofessional. This copart out of all coparts is the worst. The office workers work very slowly and relaxed. They don’t care about the car carriers that bring them the business. There is about 6 people in the office and no one really knows what they are supposed to do. The approximate time of waiting in the office is about 1-1.5 hours , while other coparts waiting time is about 20 minutes. Almost every time they screw up. When the dispatchers call them to make sure the cars are available, they say yes. When the driver comes to pick up those cars, the cars are not available. After you get your loading passes, you have to wait for the forklift drivers to take them from you. That can also take 10-15 minutes. After waiting in the office for an hour, you have to wait in the truck parking until you get called into the loading area. This can also take about an hour. With this being said you end up waiting for approximately two hours just to start loading. The forklift operators are very rude. They give you an attitude for no reason and they work very slow compared to other coparts in the same region. I think that the management needs to do an better job to make customers satisfied.

They came and picked up my old car that I was having trouble selling online. The tow truck driver came and picked up my Honda promptly. It was a very quick transaction and I was handed a check on the spot.

If I could give it zero starts I would. Terrible company. They lost items that were in my trunk after an accident after they told me that they would mail all of it to me. There was thousands of dollars worth of stuff that I couldn't get out after the accident, so they said they would do it. They stopped responding to my emails once I asked for compensation.

Couldn't be happier with this Auction... a great place for purchasing used cars and unbeatable prices. There are hundreds of cars; you won't walk away without one. Arrive about an hour early, so that you can take a look at the cars before the auction begins. I admire also Repokar car auction because it has also a huge variety of makes and models... After making one payment, you drive away with a car that's yours! Seems as if it's too good to be true: I've been to this Auction twice, and will continue to return in the future.

Rude and unreasonable staff. The man in the front office argued with me that even though the run and drive van that I won couldn't keep running once it was started, it still qualified as a run and drive vehicle and I was stuck with it! Had to escalate the matter to the General Manager to reverse the purchase. Buyer beware.

Joanne Yestramski

This place sucks. They took my plate holder off of my car, it was towed there after my accident. They claim that they don't know what happened to it. It must have magically unscrewed and came off?? It was there when the car was towed on a flat bed truck. Pretty sad that they have to steal things from other people. Maybe if they paid their employees better they wouldn't need to steal. Never go here. I am telling everyone. It was not expensive, thats not the point. It was mine and meant something to me. Thanks loser, who ever you are.

Staff was friendly and helpful handled any immediate problems at hand. But they are understaffed, no where else in the automotive world does it take 2 to 4 hours to pick up paperwork and get the vehicle loaded. I requested insurance papers after the date of purchase. It has been 5 weeks since the request still do not have the paperwork. A first in the industry for me but I have only been doing this since 1984.

I got a great deal on a 1990 Mercedes 300SEL from Colorado at the Billerica location... but the bank or insurance company who was selling the car got completely screwed. Copart moves the cars with a huge forklift with extended forks. The car I paid $525 for should have sold for much more... If the two front tires weren't pointed in different directions. Upon further inspection, both tie rods are bent up - clearly caused by Copart's negligence. I'm not all that upset though, Copart damaging the vehicle scared away any other bidders who previewed.

There new pickup policy is absolutely absurd. 415 cut off to pick up cars! Drive over 2 hours to get a car and apparently it’s a NEW policy and they won’t budge one bit. I’ll make sure to tell all my customers i tow for to start going to IAA instead. Atleast IAA is willing to work with us drivers

Paulo Chavez

Horrible management, as far as a transporter picking up vehicles. It will take more than 2 hours to get a vehicle when there are only a handful of transporters and an equal amount of fork lift loaders. The issue needs to be narrowed down. Who’s not doing their job correctly. We visit approximately 6-7 different Copart’s in the north east region and not one has this problem. It’s not because of quantity of transporters as all other Copart’s have similar if not more traffic. Are the cars not being found? Are the loaders not working to their full potential? It’s ridiculous. I really hope to see change as the district manager also has some good reviews at other locations.

Front desk staff is always friendly and efficient. The loaders usually seem to be fast and efficient but sometimes it still takes up to 4 hours to get loaded. They do have two loading areas – one in front of the office and second one all the way in the back but sometimes there’s a queue of trucks alongside driveway all the way to the street, just waiting to get their paperwork. I do pick up cars here 2-4 times a month.

Surprisingly, this place is in a residential area. There is no place to park, streets are crowded and narrow. Residents are angry and I don't blame them. Lost entire day waiting to pickup vehicle and consequently was told that it can't be located. In another word... it's a mass.

I can't vouch for this place in terms of how the auction process goes, but in terms of their operations with insurance companies and taking cars away, the business they are running here is a true nightmare on earth. My old car was declared a total loss. Insurance told me that Copart would be taking my car in exchange for a settlement. That's fine. However, my license plates were still on the old car. All I asked of these walnuts was for them to please tell me in advance before they take my car so that I can take the plates off, because if I took them off a significant amount of time before they came for my car, the city would have towed me due to strict on-street parking rules where I live. I confirmed this with them FOUR times, and they told me that I would be called an hour before my car was taken. So, in the meanwhile I get myself a new car and am planning to do a license plate transfer. The thing with doing that, though, is you need the old plates. So I'm sitting at the dealership waiting for a phone call. At the end of the day, Copart's office closes so I have no way of reaching them, and I am then informed by the insurance company that my car was taken away. No phone call, no notice. What a wonderful situation then, to have my new car sitting at a dealership with NO license plates on it, and to have my old license plates still attached to my old car in an auction yard about 60 miles north of where my replacement car is sitting. AWESOME. I borrow my dad's car since I have zero vehicles to my name and drive to Copart first thing in the morning (and if any worker is reading this you probably remember me as the crazy "Chevy Cobalt girl"). Copart sometimes sends license plates back to the insurance company, so I really had no way of knowing if the plates were still physically at this location. Fortunately, they were inside my old car, and I got them back. I told the dude at the front desk that NOBODY warned me before picking my car up, and that I called to confirm this four times. He just says, "huh... we must not have put that in our notes." ........... REALLY???? YA THINK????? And, just an extra nugget: A few days after this fiasco I get a phone call from the insurance company telling me, "Copart never got the keys to your car. They need you to send them." LOL HILARIOUS even though I already sent Copart the keys in the mail a week prior and they confirmed that they received them, and when I physically WENT to Copart, my car was unlocked. And guess what? When it was taken away, it was locked. Wow. Magic. GOOD JOB, EVERYONE. Love, A bitter (new) car owner.
