REVIEWS OF Fredericksburg Auto Salvage IN Maryland

I have 20 plus years as a welder, journeymen mechanics, etc. Note: if I would of read the reviews before going to this place I would have never gone (2 & 3 stars). But since I did not read reviews until after I went there, I feel these people are not giving a good review. I went there and spent about an hour with the women and her son. There were busy, but very helpful. There is more than just one person for them to take care of & they do take care the persons that are first and tried and did work me in. So, my first impression is a 5 star rating and would recommend there place to anyone. You just have be a little patient & understand there real working atmosphere!

Just know when you go over the train tracks...make that immediate left. There is a big sign. Your gps will direct you toward a dead end. I got a $25 tire for my maxima

everyone leaving negative comments is wrong, you don't go to a salvage yard for 5 star customer service, you go to finish your restoration or maybe complete your car. Betty treats customers just fine, shes always been helpful to me. when customers call it should be short sweet and to the point. they have a business to run. ive been going here for years never had a SINGLE problem

I picked up a tailgate for my PU here. The woman who runs the place accurately described the condition of the part and her price was better than anybody else in the area. I don't agree with the complaints that the proprietor is "unprofessional" or otherwise difficult. This is not a day spa; it's a wrecking yard. It's also an interesting place to visit, with lots of older vehicles, as well as newer stuff. You have to drive up a steep and narrow dirt road, and there isn't much room to turn around, so don't bring a trailer unless you have to.

I agree and this woman needs to be fired. However, I hate to tell you guys, but all junk yard operators are rude anyway. This lady is no exception. I dealt with junk yard daily, and thus far, I have not met a nice person yet. FAS is one of the worst. With internet nowadays, these people need to change their mind set in doing business. If you ever been in one of the junk yards you will know what I am talking about. Just look at the signs around them, you will know customer service is the least of their worry. I recently shopped on line and got my parts fast. I actually didn't pay that much more. The only problem is the time. Otherwise, I won't even go to a junk yard. I need it and I need the parts now.

Alex Morgan

Not your normal junk yard. This is mostly old cars. Great sight seeing

Brenda Miller

Place is owned and run buy a good woman who knows more about vehicle s as anyone in the used parts biz. More then most of the time she has what u need if not she will get it or tell u where u can get it.

Wayne Carroll

Whoever the lady is that answers the phone needs to take a class on customer service. I will never call this junkyard again

Ashley Crawford

I called and they didn't have what I needed but called around to find it for me. Definitely professional in my book

I'm glad to know this place is still there. I've walked that entire yard several times back in the 90's looking for parts on a 60's resto. This yard is awesome, cars covered by bushes, vines, trees growing up in and around them. Old cars, hills, and narrow dirt trails. Reminds you of Deliverance. The owner is straight to the point and no time for BS, but helpful nonetheless. Wish she had a list of cars that you could access online as it would save trouble calling or searching. Word of caution, if you can go in the fall or winter as these cars can be full of bees an snakes --- plus you can see them more after the overgrowth dies back.

called & ms betty was very direct, but if you call and know exactly what your looking for it will be a easy experience . they have a good amount of old school cars & parts.

First off Betty is my sister and she is a sweetheart. We all have bad days and we all are sometimes mis interpreted. She should know her cars, she has been in the business for as long as I can remember. There is 19 years between her and I. Older cars, yes. My first car cam from her yard, a 71 Chevy Vega. She truly is a sweet woman.

This group of people are wonderful!! We are active with a charity event that Fredericksburg Auto Salvage has helped make possible for a group of kids. I can't express my gratitude enough.

Great place to find just about any type of used auto part. Old school hunt and find method but it turned out to be a fun way to spend some time on a Saturday. Found exactly what we needed and it was priced reasonably. Alan is very helpful and knowledgeable about what is in the yard. Will definitely go back for more.

Thomas Collins

Rude- Women answered a said hello and I asked if this was a business and hesitated she and said "Yes why" no need to call there again. Answering the phone should be somewhat professional.

Marco Nieves

Completely unprofessional when I called acted as If we were already buddies

James Hobson

I went there today and, though I did not find the part I was looking for, I did locate another one I needed. When I first called, the woman who answered the phone seemed curt, direct and demanding to me but that was only a first impression. It takes a while to get to the office up the dirt road but once I got there her demeanor had changed completely and I found her to be a super sweet lady who is very easy to deal with. And in spite of the "Beware of Dog" sign, the ones to be found there are a Yorker and an adorable giant dachshund mix. I would not recommend driving a large rig up there, however, due to the fact that the turnaround at the end can be difficult. Best with a small truck such as a Toyota or a Chevy S-10.

The lady who answered the phone is extremely unprofessional. I don't care if this is a junkyard and people say "you shouldn't expect 5 Star service" This is also their business, which they need to treat with respect, and the customers who come there to spend their money need to be treated with respect. She answered the phone with just a "Hello" and I asked if this was the junkyard and she goes "Yea why". What kind of service is that? Then I asked if they had a certain type of car there and she cuts me off and goes "What is it" almost like she was mad that I asked. I asked for what I needed and she quickly, it seemed like she didn't even check, she goes "No". I mean how much more unprofessional could you get? Funny thing is I was ready to spend upwards of $1,000 on parts that i need. Not anymore though, she ruined it for them. I'll go buy elsewhere as I recommend everyone else should.

Super people

The lady in charge, Betty, really knows her cars, parts. I found her to be very helpful and absolutely honest.

Olaf Herrick

Nice people helpful if you there in person, great place to find odd ball stuff .

Michelle Brown

Loved the guys here, I called on a holiday, the lady Betty, answered all my questions and even called me back twice when my phone dropped the call. Refreshing to get treated like a person, down home feel. She was so sweet and had someone at my house within an hour!! The driver Alan was very professional and polite...cant say enough good about my experience, I will definitely use them again and highly recommend that anyone in the market for used parts check them out . You will not be disappointed.

Lady that answers the phone wasn't familiar with the cars I called about. Thought they made an '87 z3, had to clarify '97 three times. She didn't think they made the '99 Ford Ranger in green. I prefer parts people that are more knowledgeable than me. Oh well.

First of all, if you're interested enough to read all of these reviews, you should know that the review from Mr. Business is either an insider or a very bad liar. Next, a real review from an old car hobbiest who very recently spent an entire day, almost 8 hours, wandering about searching for parts for a variety of restoration projects going on back at home. Betty is the woman that most reviewers are complaining about. Forget about it, folks, there us no firing Betty. She is the owner and matron of the yard. The only way she's leaving that yard is in a casket or in handcuffs. I agree with one reviewer that this yard is not environmentally friendly. It is, in fact, an environmental hazard bordering on criminal conduct. I saw gas tanks lying in streams, crank cases with oil and even old cardboard oil cans with the tiangular holes punched in them. Don't get me wrong, I am no environmentalist, my old cars that average about 10 miles per gallon are proof of that. However, common sense has it's limits about such things. Next, I understand how old-schoolers may appreciate this yard, because you will find some older cars these, plenty of late 60s and early 70s Chevys and Fords, with fewer Mopars, however, most are well picked, body panels rusted through and essentially worthless. The few older cars that I saw had nothing salvageable on them except glass. More than anything else, she had newer trash and Japanese cars for which you can easily find parts in nicer and better organiized surroundings. All in all, I found the experience worthwhile because it truly is the last of a dying breed. However, its days are numbered just like those of all old cars. For the brave who are out there, happy hunting.

I've never wrote a review- but the woman who answers the phone is AWFUL. I called looking for a tire, I have no idea what- I just had the make of our car, she was so rude as I was asking my husband what kind and size of tire. This lady will never get references- and I'll never call back to inquire again. If anyone asked me about needing any spare parts, I'd tell them "Don't call the first one that pops up in google". After I got off the phone with her- I read the reviews. ALL ARE TRUE! lol
