There are many companies and individuals who claim to be companies in the scrap business. Many of them just aren't the type that are pleasant to deal with. I appreciate that American Scrap Company operates in a professional manner and has responsible and respectful employees. We have had an ongoing relationship with American Scrap for nearly 10 years and have never had anything but great interactions. I would not hesitate to recommend them to another business looking for an e-waste solution.

The upsides: It's a nice little place to visit to drop off small loads of scrap. No intimidatingly large yard to search for staff or where to drop off stuff. Good for a person who can't stand throwing the planet's recyclable materials away in the trash any more. (Rusty roofing nails don't belong in the trash, those nails deserve to be recycled.) Its great that they don't demand 200+ lbs of materials before paying out. Even small loads of 1lb is considered. The parking lot was fine. There was no overcrowding. ============= Here is the Real Entrance to visit: The west side of the building is the entrance. It is the loading/unloading door on the west side of the building.

Pretty decent place to scrap. As long as they are not in a hurry and all talking to the guy writing numbers at the same time it's great. I always go here ever since I found out about them. Much better experience than other local yards.

Very nice individuals. This was the first and only scrap yard I've been to in the DSM area and I would highly recommend this location to anyone else.

I'll tell anyone who asks, American Scrap is the place to take your "E-Scrap" (new word to me). Based on past experience, I thought my metal junk wasn't worth a visit to a junkyard. Thanks to Dustin and the rest of the dock crew I have new respect for this business and its honest, hardworking and friendly staff. The most awesome place around, family run, great bunch of guys they get you in and out quickly if you know what you are doing and have your metals separated properly, makes the job easy on both ends, but will say they are very helpful and patient if you don't have it separated. Fast, easy way to make money and clean up that trash out in the yard that's been an eyesore forever. Environmentally friendly, why throw it in the dump when you can cash it in. Cha-ching!
