Good school. Drop off and pickup of students can average from 2 minutes to 10 minutes, depending on time of day. Lots of students don't ride the bus and have cars or are taken to and from school.

Woodside has strengths and weaknesses. Academically, majority of the teachers are great and if your child wants to succeed they have everything they need to do so. Socially, we have some fights and a girl named Dejah committed suicide when she was only a freshman. The student body however came together and prayed for her every morning and there was a lot of student led effort to come together through tragedy. Woodside is also the Arts magnet school, but some feel that the principal funds sports more than on the Art programs. However, Woodside is a blue ribbon school, and the student body loves art and music. If your child likes any of the arts or if they do sports, than they will fit in here.

I love Woodside High School so much. There are no words that can express how much I adore everything about Woodside. Its just an amazing place to go to school it really is and I feel so lucky to have finally be accepted into the magnet program. Its such an amazing school centered around learning and achieving your goals. It's really true when they say its the best school in all of Newport News.

Teachers are nice. Students for the most part are friendly (There is quite a few gay students so if that is a problem then I would second guess going here*NOT SAYING IT'S A PROBLEM*). The food was average for school standards. One of the counselors did get upset with me for not voluntarily going to their office.

It's decent. I went here during my freshman year. I find it ridiculous that you have to join a magnet program to take some type of art class but whatever. Last time I went here, there were so many fights. There was this one time where a student drew so much blood from another that we had to go to another class. I geometry was a wreck, however. I was in honors geometry. The teacher did an awful job at explaining how to understand this and often told us to justify when we have no clue what it is or anything. I knew in my bus, someone was caught smoking marijuana. Fortunately I was not there that day but then someone had to smoke a plain, old cigarette when I returned. It seems that the more students, the more trouble. Still, majority of the teachers to their jobs well. The hallways are large enough so that everyone can make their way. Honestly, there were so many negative things I have talked about here. I can't really picture anything positive. I mean, it's an average school. Students should probably attend here for awhile to see if it satisfies their needs.
