For all the people who don't like this school, I'm in 6th Grade and I think it's a great school. The teachers will always be there for you, great food (and there are many choices), and we get to learn some extra activities like new Languages, Musical Instruments, many many many sports, Art, Drama, Robotics, Speech, Debate, Technology, Math bowl, Green House, and many more. Not only that all teachers will be there to help you if you need any, they will push you to the highest. This school is very clean. We take care of our restrooms, classes, and cafeterias like our own homes. Not only that, we have many buildings and places to go. For example, we have 2 Gyms, 3 Cafeterias, a building each for The High school , Middle School, Elementary School, Finna (kids below preschool), The Dorms, The Middle school Gym, The Elementary School Gym, Fine Arts, And the Athletic complex. We do need to cross the street but every single day there are not 1, but two police guards to protect you while you cross the street, in every street you need to cross. If that isn't enough, there is a bridge crossing over the street from The Middle School to the Elementary School. Our school takes care of our children so there are many Security Guards making sure the kids are safe. We need special lanyards to open the doors. If you're a parent, there is a button that will let u enter but of course they will need information and you will need to sign in. Also, every morning when you're in your classroom (if you're a child at this school) there will be an announcement on the speakers and on the phones about what's going to happen today and what will happen over the week. It doesn't have to be "school related". They will tell you if there is going to be a football game, a parent teacher conference, if a grade is flying to Washington, or if there is going to be an assembly. It really helps me understand everything so I won't be confused and a bit nervous. Also, some schools have a loud bell p, whereas at Village, there is a soothing jingle to tell you that it's time for the next period. If that's not enough, they play music during passing period! There is enough time to get all of your stuff ready, go to the restroom, get a drink of water, and get to class in time without getting a tardy. And the education in the class isn't all write down everything and do boring stuff, instead we listen to educational videos (like Ted-Ed), do projects, do partner work, go visit places, (Even to Boston), and we get to write many stuff on the board. And of course the teachers are very nice and polite. So I would suggest to not judge a book by its cover and actually go inside for a while, look at everything, and then make you final opinion before judging. I'm an 11 year old who adores this school very much and I would strongly suggest this school for your kids.

I have been observing the change in my children's behavior, skills, and competence in both Elementary and middle school for the last 3 years, I am quite satisfied. Their motivation and confidence levels have finally reached highest level. Although daily homework is getting more and more difficult, the degree of independence in accomplishing the HW is admirable. As some may argue, we have been quite lucky with our teachers and I do hope this will continue.

Two of our sons graduated from the Village School in the last 15 years and our daughter currently attends the school. Both of our sons went to Ivey -League colleges after attending high school locally since the Village did not had HS at that time. Our daughter is entering The high school after attending the Village for 10 years. The school is not cheap or easy but it is worth it. The academic standards are consistently high and the music department is exceptional. We have seen the school growth and change hands through the years without loosing its spirit. This school is diverse and promotes cross-cultural respect and religious tolerance which is very important to us.

Our family has been at this school for about 5 years and it has been a great fit for our kids. We love the emphasis on STEAM and the diverse student population. We have had excellent teachers (in math, history, science, fine arts, language arts) who really go above and beyond to encourage our children to be creative thinkers and problem solvers.

High teacher turnover, weak curriculum, lack of community spirit. Organisational issues such as car pool, students are treated as just another number not an individual.

The village school is one of the best schools with a great education program. Compared to my kids private and public schools they have tried the Village top them way ahead in all area. We have 3 kids in this school that just started in August 2016. They have excellent communication with parents and kids.

I've been a teacher at Village since 2001 and was recently promoted to a leadership position. From a teacher/employee's standpoint, there is no other place I'd rather be. The teachers are highly qualified and care deeply about their students. The parents are involved and supportive. The students are the best kids in the world and are fun, curious learners. There is a true family feel to the community at Village. The great commitment across the school to provide the very best, hands-on, engaging education is unmatched. All staff wants to provide an education that challenges students to extend their learning as far as they can go. I love the school so much that my own two kids go here to receive, what I consider, the very best education in Houston.

I used to go here. I miss it dearly. I would put 5 stars if there are less Bullies. Although the teachers are always there to help, they'll listen and help you understand better. Learning curriculum was a little confusing but it is useful! I recommend your children to be prepared to be bullied or be popular and loved or be ignored. I now go to a new school which is no better. But overall, you make family here. Like your squad. It’s hi-tech and (if you ask me) hard. Tests were impossible. And the homework piles up every year. In college you don’t even get as much! But still, You make family. You make a squad. You get a crowd. It’s wonderful, hard and stressful. We had only 2 STEM events. But tons of fun events (pep rallies etc.) Thanks for reading!

I have been part of the school for the last 13 years, and at this point I have a child in high school, middle school and elementary school. Village is a great school! Everybody places high value on education and cares. Yes, the school had changed and grew a lot since we started there and thus there have been challenges - but what I want to point out is that all problems are addressed well and promptly and always corrected. The teachers love to teach and really care about the kids. Parent teacher communication is excellent, curriculum is challenging and as a result kids learn and learn well. Teachers are always happy to stay after or before school or after class or during lunch - any time - to help answer kids questions. My son had a math question at 10 pm and his teacher replied to him at 10:15 pm that same night . I have many examples of great things across the entire school and I highly recommend it.

The curriculum was REALLY good (at least in 4th-5th grades, those were the only years I attended the school) but the teachers naively believed that everything was fine socially, despite my obvious lack of friends (and the bullying I experienced) in those two years. Rather than pay attention to each of their students individually, they took the feelings of the happiest/best students in the grade and based their opinion of the social climate on them. Everything else was fine, and the field trips were AWESOME

Disappointing group of kids! I lived in an apartment complex where these guys occupied nearly half of the estate making the complex a disgusting place to live! These kids left trash at every common area throughout the complex. From leftover food items, hall passes from their school, as well as trashed household items that were always traced back to The Village school. Where is the adult supervision?! In all honesty I saw these kids running around the building a lot in the evening but rarely saw an adult accompanying them. Very strange situation!

Love this school! I graduated last year after nine great years here. I watched the high school grow after being the fourth graduating class, and can't believe how far it has come. The strong IB curriculum definitely prepared me for university. They have an amazing sports program where their HS soccer team have been state champions for the past two years. It has such a tight knit community feel, which makes the school feel like your home. It's unique international community teaches its' students to be accepting of others, while embracing each others' differences. It wouldn't have wanted to spend my elementary and high school years at any other school.

The teachers love the students and try their hardest, but all who enter it's doors are slowly being ground to dust in the administration's quest for cash.

Hi Hey

My dream school be expecting me next year 2018

This school is terrible. They continuously hire unqualified teachers. They hired a teacher for Economics that was about to become a bus driver (as a retiring job), this teacher taught Feminism for an entire year for the IB curriculum instead of Economics. They also hired another teacher without looking into his background (which a student found using google), this teacher has a court case where he is involved with assaulting a child in a previous school. The only thing decent in this school is their Athletics Department. If you are thinking about going to this school, your kids are better off with Strake, Awty, Memorial, Stratford, etc. This school is a real let down, and they charge you WAY TOO MUCH for teachers that are learning IB with your students. They need to step up in hiring qualified teachers, their Head of School needs to get a grip, and they need to become more professional. The school focuses money more than the student's education. There are multiple situations that went wrong with this school that I can go on about: Senior Prank (poorly managed and poorly handled), Hiring of teachers, Administration ignoring Parent's concerns about their Children's education (along the lines of, just put your kid's nose in a book and they'll learn... Not the reason I've paid 25,000$ a year...), etc! Real disappointing school. Please do not fall for the scam.

Expats be aware! All American schools are not as bad as this one.Like other Expats, we moved here quickly and enrolled in the Village school with little time to think about it. Here are somethings you should know when considering this awful school: Curriculum and teaching are decades behind and not as advertised. Students are on websites all day that could be done at home. There are no STEM experts, no MIT or Julliard opportunities in the Elementary. This is not a school for gifted children like the new advertisement proclaims. The school very fraudulently advertises things that aren’t a reality. Everyone that applies is accepted. There are disruptive kids in classes because there are no admissions standards. Staff have no idea about International curriculum and treat children as if they are behind. Management has no idea what is going on in the school. Parents are not welcome on campus. Management is very rude to parents that express concern. Faculty and management are sub par. Not the same educational level as other schools. School reputation is bad in the local community. Not respected. There is no communication from the school about things happening. Parent input is not welcome. There is no community amongst parents. No one feels like a part of the school. The attrition rate for students is very high. Not because they move, but because they go to better schools in town. Most go to public schools in the area. None of management has been there more than 4 years. There has been chaos and turnover for almost 10 years at the school with no promise for real change or stability in the near future. High school has brand new facilities and new athletic facilities. The Elementary building is disgusting, unsafe and falling apart. We all pay the same high tuition. One of the highest in the city. The school is unsafe. Last year, a dual language program was started. Then moved to a different campus. Then it was closed with no notice to the parents or teachers at the end of the year when there was no where for parents or staff to apply. Parents from the dual language program are irate with the way it was done, but mostly because the dual language director and staff were much more qualified and caring than the village school staff. The campus is sad and we are happy to be taking our children to a different school. Check out the other international, private and public schools in the area. There are many better choices.

My friend goes to this school and has said that she has no friends and when she tried to make some they would ignore her and walk away from her.
