Meh. It was alright. BTW if anyone from debakey reads this, message me via Facebook and tell me about it. This probably won't be found for a year, so it'll blow my mind that someone found this.

It's a very good school for students who are used to PreAP and AP standards. For students, like me, who aren't used to those standards go through a hard time in the Freshman year but thankfully most of the teachers are very helpful. Students are very competitive and friendly here and are, for the most part, helpful. The only problem I have is that we are pushed a little too far from my comfort and students don't have that much free time when they get home. Most time is spent doing homework, studying, and getting what sleep we can. It's a difficult school but if you believe in yourself, that you can make it, then it's possible to make it through all 4 years. There are just some sacrifices that will have to be made.

It was meh the teachers can be pretty dismissive for a relatively small school not to mention there are no sports there and the teachers constantly brag about "debakey standards" if you can't get in to somewhere like bellaire or carnegey then I guess this would be an okay option maybe.

Personally, I love this school so much, but this is my testimony to how much I hate what's going on right now. The school has recently decided that the girls are wearing their skirts too short and have threatened to ban skirts next year, however the measures they're taking this year are just as extreme. When you walk in each morning, you will most likely be dress coded for wearing a skirt, even if its long enough. All the admin have different views on how long a skirt can be and have incessantly bothering the teachers with emails about reporting students with short skirts. I would like to point out that no boys have been dress coded for wearing short shorts, only girls with skirts. It seems that girls with short shorts are also excused from dress code. Some teachers have been voicing their own opinions on this matter as well. One health science teacher insinuated that people that wear short skirts "deserve what happens to them" and that if you have larger thighs you should have to wear your skirt longer than girls with smaller thighs. Another dress code problem is that they have recently decided to give detentions for not wearing a shirt under a sweatshirt or hoodie. They will approach students in the hall and ask what they have on under their sweatshirt or hoodie. This makes people very uncomfortable. If anyone with any power at DeBakey sees this, please take some measure to fix this problem, thanks
