Valor is a great school, but not perfect. I am a Student at Valor who personally cares about how they perform educationally wise. It's almost the end of the year, and with my first year here, I have to say, It's not that bad. For all parents reading all the "negative" reviews, kids constantly calling the school "Prison" it's simply not true. The academics at Valor are great, every single teacher that I have had has been good, except some substitutes. The teachers at Valor are great, they always teach you well, and over prepare you for the upcoming tests. Homework isn't close to bad at all, the most I've had is one hour minimum worth of homework. The teachers at Valor are either Professional, Laid back/Nice, or even both. However, what gives me the motivation at giving this a 4 star instead of 5 is that, their compass system. When I first came to Valor I had no idea what this "compass" was. I came to find that it is nothing except them trying to be different and wasting your time. The so-called, "Phase Work" that you have to complete and then "Present Off" in "Circle" really takes away from the academic focus that I wanted to have when coming to this school. Yes, the academics are amazing, but the Compass system really takes away from the overall focus and experience of their great academics. Also, if you see anybody calling Valor's teachers bad, it's because they want to control the classroom and the teachers don't let them. Another bad thing about Valor is that there are some horrible acting kids that never get suspended nor expelled no matter how much of a bad thing they commit. I'm not sure if this is because of a business decision by Valor, but if someone is getting bullied by someone else constantly, and the school does nothing about it, the environment isn't safe. Also, many kids who "act out" at valor need to learn a form of self discipline. On a side note; out of my personal opinion, Valor gets involved in Politics too much, sure it may be good to talk about recent tragedies and how it's horrible, but It's better business wise to stay out of politics. One more thing, don't take school lunches, they are terrible. Overall, if you want to send your kid to Valor, in goals of giving them a good education, definitely do.
