I'm a Networking student in the AAS program, I have had great experiences overall. There have been a few classes that I felt were unstructured and a waste of time, but ill take an easy A. 75% of the classes have professors who truly care about what they do and are not in it for the money (obviously). if you want to pickup a accociates degree and be able to take that knowledge towards certification tests it's a great place to go! Also a great value for in state students.

as a student, i absolutely can not stand this school or it's satillite capuses. Clarksville Campus has no regard for professionalism and the fact they will purge your class even if you have a grant paying in-full

Jeanne Rambo Hawkins

I attend Nashville state as an audit student and have thoroughly enjoyed the classes, which have been interesting and challenging. Navigating the bureaucracy would be difficult, I think, for someone new to a large school (my degrees are from Duke and UNC). My advice would be to persevere. A degree from here will be worth more in the long run than a degree from a smaller, more customer oriented, school.

awful the medical surg class are not worth the money you will not get your money worth here at this college. This college is a rip off.

I cannot express how much I respect and value Nashville State Community College. Truly a Great school. The instructors are spectacular, they really are amazing. Overall, this school offers wonderful and well organized departments, as well as, exceptional staff. Here, if you put in the work, you should succeed. Wonderful place to learn.

I enjoy the fact that it has a very large selection of online class and multiple campus locations. The staff at the Humphreys County campus location has been very helpful every step of the way. They have been kind and never rude even though I had a billion questions. I did not give them five stars because even though my campus and its staff is awesome the main campus if awful. Just calling for simple questions is a pain. Most of the time I had to leave a message which was never returned. They say within 24 hours they will return your call. HaHaHa fat chance of that happening. The operators are always rude the people in admission and financial aid department are rude. Everyone I spoke to one the phone at the main campus was to busy to be bothered.. I guess they forget that these classes are not free. They actually cost a lot of money and so the staff that work there are not doing us a favor by answering our questions but actually they are doing their JOBS! They get paid to do this so less attitude would greatly be appreciated. That being said the only nice things I have to say about the main campus is the guy at the book store I think he was running it was assume he helped me out a ton. Gave me very help information and was very patient and just absolutely a great help. Also the lady who did my student I.D. was very positive and upbeat and even though I only interacted with her for a few minutes she was not rude and she gave me all the information I needed to know.

As someone who has attended both a four year university (MTSU) and NSCC, I can say that I have really enjoyed my experience at Nashville State. The classes are smaller. so you get a much more personal experience where your professor actually knows your name. All of my teachers have been legitimately passionate about the subject they're teaching, and I feel like I have learned a lot. I definitely recommend attending to pursue an associates degree, which you can use to jump-start your education. 2-year colleges are a great way to transition into a 4-year.

kesejunira w

Excellent classes and instructors! I learned so much that has taken my experience level so much higher. Thank you NSCC

Maddy Haul

Has the worst financial aid department. They tell you something different every time you communicate with them!

John Locke

I sincerely only hope that this college suffers financially to the cliff of financial disaster. The faculty and staff here are frauds and incompetent beyond anything that you can imagine. The education here is terrifically terrible. You could pass here even if you slept for 90% of the semester. Do me a favor. Stop going or don't apply. When more students do that the college will finally shut down and become an abandoned building with unemployed profs.

yousef yusef

The people on the front desk always have an attitude even if you're very nice they don't care and specially the light skinned fat lady in the Nashville campus

Carla Cox

I will NEVER take anymore online classes with NSCC. It has been 2 weeks since I requested my Transcripts to be sent to Belmont University and here we are- NOTHING has been sent. The staff at NSCc are unprofessional, unorganized and flat out rude. I do not advise anyone to waste their time with this school, as there are so many other community colleges that appreciate and respect students.

Taylor Johnson

I'm new to college, and so far everyone has been very helpful and kind. Alot of people have helped guide me on the right path, and given me advice for my classes. I am not in college yet, but so far my experience has been very good.

Terrible service no one ever answers the phone ive called the main campus as well as the southeast campus they dont seem to do their job at all they dont answer calls, they dont reply to emails and when they do answer calls they are very rude with an attitude its unacceptable how are these people still employed? If you're planning to attend this place be ready to have to drive on campus for any little thing cause they wont take your call or email at all ive visited both Main and Southeast campuses multiple times due to lazy staff ive witnessed them not answering phones they dont care about helping you why should you waste your money on this college? This was my first semester ever they failed to mention a ton of things to me which ended up costing me $1300 i didnt have!! Very unprofessional rude place

Hands down the worst. Tried to withdraw from school, was told that was fine and I didn't need to do anything. Five years later I get a bill saying you owe us money because you never dropped your classes. I was never informed I needed to. This place is an embarrassment to higher education. Go somewhere that doesn't just try to screw you out of money.

Financial aid is a nightmare. Submitted my FAFSA and all necessary financial aid paperwork six months in advance, only to find that things needed to be changed. They didn't tell me until the week before the papers were due. It takes them a week to respond to any questions via e-mail and weeks to actually process the paperwork- usually to find something wrong with it. I missed my last semester bc I couldn't get financial aid to come through because they take way too long to process everything. I'm getting closer and closer to deadlines and they are not being helpful- I'm afraid I'll miss out on this semester as well.

I was told at the last minute I had to turn in a max time frame appeal. I had turned in all the paperwork for the semester months ago. Everything was finished. Now 2 weeks before the semester began they told me I had to do this after I had been communicating with the school. I turned in the paperwork within 24 hours. I was advised I takes 2 weeks to process. Why does it take 2 weeks for a committee to look over to sheets of paper? Also financial aid never answers the phone. Every department does, even the dean answers but not them. They need more help in that office because this is ridiculous. Now I my education is delayed for what?????

Huimin Wang

I cannot believe that my class got canceled one week before the class starts and no staff in the school feel sorry about it.

Alycia N. Waggoner

This is a TERRIBLE school. There is never anyone available to speak with, staff and coordinators are extremely rude and unprofessional, no one ever returns phone calls. They have no regard for their students, and do not care to see you succeed or fail.

When I was in class It fell like I am the teacher!! Teacher was asking me answer!! for me to give him answer!! I felt like I help him get a bachelor degree!! Pay me back !!!

This school is a scam. Even the parking lot is a scam. If you park in the "Visitor's lot" you still get a ticket.

The worst school ever! The staff is extremy unprofessional and not helpful at all. Don't ask anyone there ever a question, they will look at you like you are not worthy of a life. I'm supposed to be an online student but they want me to come to the school to take every single test. That defeats the purpose of being an online student. Especially when you live over an hour away and you are a full time mother and worker. So I applied for WGU. Way better, professional, detailed, completely online and you don't have to deal with rude staff. I do not recommend anyone to waste there money on this school. Rember, it's your money, whether it is a grant, scholarship, or financial aid. It is yours. Be very picky and do not settle for less. You do not deserve to be mistreated or pushed to the side. Go somewhere else and get things done right and most of all be happy! Peace!

Ethan Shinn

Do not attend Nashville State. The entire staff who work in the offices are SO rude. If you have a problem they immediately turn their back on you and are very rude.

John Bing

I-G-N-O-R-E ignore ignore these leftist profs that slip in their political opinions in lectures. I could care less what leftist bullshit they believe in. I am more interested in getting an education so I can become gainfully employed instead of flipping burgers for overly obese customers! By the way this college succckkks like mad. I transferred elsewhere, actually out of state because Tennessee is a dumber than rocks state!

Anibal Pacheco

Amazing Community College that places students needs first. The right place to pursue your educational goals. Nashville State got over 80 educational programs offered at their six campuses in the greater Nashville Tennessee area. They are also a military friendly college offering credit for prior learning experience to current service members and veterans.

In reading the negative reviews here, which are replete with spelling and syntax errors, I must necessary question their validity. Although I have extensive education and have taught on the university level in 3 countries, I am by no means skilled in IT. I therefore elected to take Cisco Router classes with Mr. Michael Bates. Very simply put, as an educator Mr. Bates does everything right. His lectures are clear and concise; he maintains a formality that is both refreshing and surprisingly friendly. As for the staff, I can offer no complaints, only praise. I am quite a social creature, so I ended up seeking information and advice from a number of staff members and instructors at Nashville State, both in person and via email. Everyone has been most helpful and welcoming. As with any educational institution, however, I think quality depends very much on the instructor. From my classmates I have heard quite a lot about deadheads who know nothing and teach nothing. But that is generally true at every college and university. Some advice, if I might: Choose your instructors before you enroll in a class. Do your homework as to which instructors suit your needs. After having done so and if things don't work out, please feel free to complain about Nashville State. I have done so and I am more than satisfied.

Tiffany Moore

Worst experience ever. Never can get anybody On the phone. Financial aid is a nightmare. I did everything before the deadline and they are still having issues with my refund. First semester and it will be my last!

Driven Assembly

A bunch of thieves. To apply for the nursing program you have to pay $20 for applying and $72 for the TEAS-V. Then if you don't get in? Tough luck! Nearly $100 for them to look at a paper and say well, you are missing 1 class, wait another year of your precious life and spend another $100 next year.

After registration they change the teacher the one you’ve registered with !

I attend this place of learning some years back and was impressed with the place! They had some very good instructors and still do! I went to learn about photography and photofinishing! I did and have a very satisfying second career as a photographer!

If I could give ZERO stars I would. This institution claims to support veterans but I would say that is absolutely incorrect. I have been given the run around for 3 months now. I have taken initiative and gone into the school multiple times to be sure that I was all good to register for classes at the start of registration. I was told multiple times that come April 1st I should be able to register. That being said alert after alert popped up on my account and I could not register. Every time I tried to get these problems resolved the staff would either be completely confused and not know what to do or point me to another staff member who also again pointed me to someone else. As you can imagine classes began to fill up very quickly and I almost could not register. After tons of calls and me going to the school multiple times I was able to register. It was as if I were pulling teeth. I had child care arranged (as you can imagine that does get expensive, I have 3 under the age of 6) for my appointments with the school. When I showed up to my appointments new alerts appeared and we were unable to proceed with what we needed to do because no one could fix it and no one knew why. Complete inconvenience and waist of my time and money. I was initially going to use my GI BILL but decided to use my Fasfa instead because I am only taking 4 classes. I only need 4 classes and I decided to take them at NSCC and transfer back to my home institution. I now have a new alert from Finance saying that I need 40 hours to complete my degree (totally incorrect, I need 12) and that I am barred from using my FASFA. It is now very very late to start my GI BILL and use it for the Summer semester. The information they have is totally incorrect and the only thing they could do is tell me to file for an appeal that will take another 2 weeks and then of course if I do get approved to use my financial aid then they will be starting my Fasfa Award very close to the summer semester which is also inconvenient for me as I am relying on my fed aid refund for summer child care so that I can take my classes. I had heard so many good things about this school and how they support military and welcome nontraditional students. I have attended two other colleges and never have dealt with issues like this. The staff always looks confused and seems very nice but very unhelpful. I would say if your looking to go back to school and use this institution you need to apply a year before hand and be ready ready for tons of push back. I am still going to submit my appeal and hope for the best. At this point it is too late to apply to a different school and take Summer classes.

John Finsin

The education quality here is absolutely atrocious beyond anything I can describe. The best way to put it that I know is that you could sleep half way through the semester and still pass. No effort is required. The teachers here are morons to the max. They have very little to none experience in the subject matter they babble about. Anybody that has written positively about this place let's just say I feel very sorry for you. You like easy work and you don't know what quality education is. You are utterly pathetic and frankly lazy. The cost to attend here and especially the books are unbelievably unreasonable. Simply put, it is theft. This institution is run by moronic individuals that have no place in academia. I only ask that this worthless institution worsens so that it can go ahead and lose it's FAKE accreditation and shut down.

When I started classes (around the end of 2015), I was awarded x amount of financial aid based on my needs/ credentials. A few months after I got the money (and had spent it on school books/ supplies and gas), I was told I had to repay about 1/3 of it (somewhere between $500 and $750.) At the time, I was working; I was barely able to repay the money, but I managed. Long story short: be wary of NSCC, especially anything you are awarded. They will cheat you.

The campus is great and teachers are very nice, but this semester they have canceled on of my classes less than a week before school started making it hard for me to find another class to take. On top of that I tried to get teachers that my friends had and said they were good. Yet, two of my classes have changed teachers. So when signing up for classes don't plan on having that teacher or that class in general. This also happened to my friend and they canceled all of his classes because they canceled one of his classes that made him go under a full time student kicking him out of school.

I am currently in my first, and LAST semester at this school. This place won't see one more dime of my money and it is due 110% to their testing policy and testing center. First, if you decide that online classes are most convenient for your schedule, dont even consider this place. You will pay $120 extra to take online exclusively but guess what! ALL your tests still have to be done at a campus testing center! Oh but they won't tell you this until AFTER you have paid and started class. So go ahead and plan on still having to drive to campus 1-2 times a week. Wait, it gets better, my campus (Clarksville) is only open for testing M-F, 8am-3pm, ironically the exact hours IM AT WORK everyday. And don't bother coming on your lunch break because Reggie, the guy who runs the place, makes sure to take a nice long break between noon and one everyday, and nope, they can't get anyone else to man the place apparently. Also, you can't make appointments online same day, and if you think you're going to get ahold of Reggie via the phone number or email listed on their site to make an appointment, think again sucker!!! I have missed probably 40 hours of work in one semester alone just to come here and take tests, and I'm a strictly an online student! How hilarious is that? I can't speak for other campus testing center hours, but unless you're completely free all week and live close to the school, forget Clarksville!

This is my daughters first year of college. NO one at the school seems to be helpful. I would NEVER go there! They need to hire a NEW STAFF. I will definitely update if we EVER receive help.***UPDATE, 9/6/2017 my daughter ended up getting help from someone there, it just took forever. I would move my star from a 1 to a 3. 10/27/2017 Update the help was not sufficient still having issues! That school has a very nasty rude "I don't care attitude" to their screw ups.

Terrible school. Over priced and nobody helps you. You have to buy their books that are not useful. How do you mess up a math book Nashville State? You'd be better off at another school. I was an engineering major, and I completely wasted my time here.

College is a necessity for a lot of career fields. The main argument for attending NSCC or any other community college is that you can get your generals or whole associate's degree done at a significant price reduction without having to leave for a town 2 or more hours away. This college has a very prompt admissions department that handles the individual student accounts with care. The professors are standard community college professors. You have the amazing ones that go out of their way to help you in every way that they can and then you have the ones that seem like they could be doing something else, and are, at all times. Overall, this school is a necessity. Go if you need to go to college for your career but be careful to take only the classes you need and be aware that they do not offer some classes that are required for some 4 year schools. If you plan to continue your education in TN look seriously into the Tennessee Transfer Program.

The worst most possible state school I've ever been to!!! No guidance or leadership in directing students toward success. Some people need a little more guidance than others, so don't expect that from here!

Edmund Freedom

I attended NSCC for 2 semesters and found the instructors to be both knowledgeable and helpful. Keep in mind: at the college level, teachers are not there to be your friend (although many try) but rather to "teach".

TJ Rockwell

I just moved here. I am 50 trying to continue my education and have already completed a semester in east Tenn. Talk about rude and NO help. I been on the phone with 3 different people for 2 days trying to figure out what I needed only to come to the conclusion (well at least I’m thinking so) that I need to first and I quote “You NEED to figure out how to get your transcripts to us WE don’t do that here” and that I needed to retake the placement test. Really ? Oh ya.. “You can’t talk to a advisor untill you are admitted to the school” I’m exhausted JUST trying to go back to school and get an education!!! Are there any nice people left in the world today??? Is there a thing called being polite and being helpful anymore? Have we forgotten politeness and manners? It’s so terribly depressing when you see or hear people being rude for no reason. Politeness is ageless and well as timeless. In my books, as in my children I taught it should always be practiced. LEAD BY EXAMPLE ! Just always remember, Everyone needs help, at some point in their life. And just a side note: if I had not been trying I would not have been on the phone for 2 days with 3 different people.
