During my experience with the Baylor School (2017-2018), I’ve been harassed by Baylor’s awful guidance counselors. Mrs.Fraley and Mrs.Robinson are among Baylor’s worst faculty, and I would never recommend any student to speak to either of them. Among the boarding community, the counselors are infamous for kicking students with acute emotional problems out of the school.
As a boarder who suffers from anxiety disorder, Mrs.Fraley always pestered me even though I repeated again and again that I did not want her ‘guidance.’ I felt like I had a target pasted on my back. Near the end of the school year, in 2018, she interrogated one of my close friends, who I vented my emotional concerns to when I was stressed out, including my once and a while minor suicidal thoughts. Mrs.Fraley then proceeded to use that information against me to isolate me in the health center, even though I was comfortable and sane. She then asked personal, prying questions that I did not want to answer. I explained to her for an hour about how I would never commit suicide or self harm, after which she declared that I was mentally unfit to continue living at Baylor. (At this point in time, I was happy at Baylor after 10 months here, had numerous friends, and had a 4.25 GPA.)
None of my dorm parents, who knew me on a personal level, thought it was a just decision to lock me up in the health center. Mrs.Fraley treated me like I was dirt. She treated me like I was psychotic. She treated me like my emotions weren’t valid. I spent two days in the health center alone until my dad came to pick me up. If you consider attending Baylor School, I would definitely recommend you to take the classes, for the teachers are excellent; however, EVERYONE SHOULD NEVER SPEAK TO THE GUIDANCE COUNSELORS BECAUSE THEY ARE MANIPULATIVE AND CRUEL TO STUDENTS, ESPECIALLY BOARDERS.
