Based on Class of 1987. Today? no stars. Broughton was once one of the great Schools of public. Ruined by standardization, "everyone is equal", the death of the wonderful Original Magnet School Program. Political correctness, affirmative action, et cetera are stealing the greatest minds needed to save this world. This said, every child deserves an education and the best teaching and teaching tools available. But---not all are the same. No different than my Wife & I taught, disciplined our three Sons differently. To follow a set scale for a population of youth is unfair to the gifted. While Broughton put myself on a path to a ACC Masters in Civil Engineering? all three of our Sons went to private schools from pre-k through 11 and on to Div 1 university's. Two MAs & a MD. Zero stars is sadly what public/social school is when compared to what made us the greatest nation on Earth. Placement must be earned by intellect and prior education of the child or said child is the epitome of a victim.

The school is nice and as usual some staff is very nice but the other half isn't so much. The classes are OK some classes are amazing and great but others just suck

Broughton High School has all sorts of reputations, but my experience was really good here. The IB program is exceptional, and many of the teachers are skillful and invest in their students' success. The building is spacious, with a nice courtyard, and there are good extracurriculars.

It is a very disgusting environment filled with terrible smells and an even worse staff. The only positives are the few teachers in the place that are enjoyable and the front exterior. Overall worst school I have been too and would highly recommend going somewhere else.

It was my school before and the teachers and the staffs in general were really patient with me and they help you if you don’t understand a topic, I really like this school and they have some free parkings

Where to begin. I'm not sure if this is the norm these days with schools, but with this school in particular, I can tell you that there is a real issue with the kid's lack of respect for the teachers. It seems the school does little in the way of taking care of this because it KEEPS HAPPENING. A close friend of mine worked there as a substitute teacher. The lack of respect a number of kids gave her is very eye-opening. She has been cursed out for waking a student up, (BY the student), her personal belongings thrown in the trash BY A STUDENT. Numerous times she has confided in me about the way she was treated as a substitute teacher there. She even had a bus HIT HER CAR there while on school property and though she tried to go through the proper channels to get this taken care of, she never received a call back, time after time. Her last straw came when informing a full-time teacher there that she was substituting for, that the class was acting up. When she was leaving at the end of the day, she was approached by a student in that class with a group of other girls in the school hallway and was threatened by this student that she was going to "Stab her ass". She cancelled all of her jobs after that THEN received a nasty email from the librarian there blaming her for really "dropping the ball" because she didn't cover for her due to cancelling her jobs. SHE WAS PHYSICALLY THREATENED. I wouldn't have went back either. This is not how you treat your fellow piers nor are these things that should go on in any kind of institution for learning and growth. There needs to be an understanding between the school faculty and the kids that attend that you DO NOT treat the staff this way. If this is the kind of treatment TEACHERS get there, I can't even imagine what goes on between the students there. There's no way I would ever send my child to a school like this.

Kids can get a parking spot, the classes they want. It's well organized. Need to study, join activities and fully participate before making a judgement. Many possible academic, technical or specialty tracks. (AP, IB, magnet, sports, CTE, ROTC, arts) Instills value of community service. Dedicated teachers. Students are polite to visitors. There is tradition, excellence and school pride. Definitely history of the school was not always inclusive but it is improving every year.

Excellent school!!!!!!! I am proud of becoming part of a great community and team like Broughton for the past 4 years. I graduated in 2013. Excellent programs and classes...like the IB program which I attempted by due to family circumstances had to drop out during the second semester. Great faculty! Always there to help the students and other teachers. Overall the best high school in Raleigh...!!!!

Do let your kids ride these buses!!!... Take them to school yourself!!!... Whoever the bus driver Tasha is needs to get fired. Talking about a student with a disability problem is unacceptable.

Excellent academic program. Principal Mares is engaged, visible, dynamic leader. Athletic program not on par with academics.
