If you reside in Clark county I would highly recommend attempting to find a way to get your children in a different district. My issues are: 1. My son is finishing up his 4th year in one of their dual language programs. His capabilities in speaking the second language are very low. No, not due to his inattention or lack of willingness; rather I believe it is the teaching that is at the root of the problem. The teachers don’t focus on helping those that speak English as there primary language to learn the second language; instead rather they focus on those children that do not know English well. So these students become proficient in English and their native tongue however my son is not consistently cued and encouraged to speak in his nonnative tongue. This is different from the stated goal of having all students be proficient in both languages. 2. We have a health care agency and reached out to the school district about providing details for an upcoming community event in their newsletter. The event benefits a non-profit organization and is family friendly with no admission being charged. It is being held at Esther Short park and has many activities for kids. This event is to honor our aging community. They wanted a $1,000 to be included in the newsletter. This is wrong and disappointing on so many levels.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Battleground more so. You call yourselves Educators.There should be NO CHILD left behind now. Teaching is a gift and 90% of you now do not have that gift. What you do have though are Bartering skills. There's no place in EDUCATION for bartering money. Teaching children has never been a get rich job. Put your money where your mouth is now TEACHERS. TEACH
