I am getting ready to finish up my Junior year and dive head first into my senior year at NBHS. When I started my Freshman year I struggled socially and academically, a huge part of that was being out of school for an extended period of time for medical reasons. When I started my Freshman year I had the mentality of 'just getting by' with my math credits, just meeting graduation requirements and being done with it. A normal path for mathematics in high school is Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2. I took Algebra 1 my Freshman year and I struggled, so for my Sophomore year I was placed in Integrated 2, a mix of Algebra 1 and geometry, and this year, my Junior year, I was placed in Integrated 3, a mix of geometry and Algebra 2, after this year I will have all the math credits required for graduation, but due in huge part to the unwaivering dedication of my teachers my mentality about math has changed and I plan on taking Algebra 2 my Senior year. I will be forever grateful that I get to call NBHS my high school, because it changed my life. I now hope to one day teach physical education at the high school level, once again due to a teacher who took the time to teach me what he knows and show me to love P.E.
In short, if you want your child to attend a school with teachers who really care about them and their futures, with extracurricular teams that absolutely shine (Foot ball state champs, band 4 year reigning state champs and, not state champs, but I am rather partial to the track team.) North Bend High School is the school for you. We truly are the best in the west.
